1. 이제 {주}의 종 모세가 죽은 뒤에 {주}께서 모세의 섬기는 자 눈의 아들 여호수아에게 말씀하여 이르시되, 1. Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying,
2. 내 종 모세가 죽었으니 그러므로 이제 너는 이 온 백성과 함께 일어나 이 요르단을 건너 내가 그들 곧 이스라엘 자손에게 주는 땅으로 가라. 2. Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.
3. 내가 모세에게 말한 것 같이 너희 발바닥으로 밟을 모든 곳을 내가 너희에게 주었나니 3. Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.
4. 곧 광야와 이 레바논에서부터 큰 강 유프라테스 강에 이르는 헷 족속의 온 땅과 또 해 지는 편을 향한 대해까지 너희의 지경이 되리라. 4. From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.
5. 네 평생 동안 능히 아무도 네 앞에 서지 못하리니 내가 모세와 함께하던 것 같이 너와 함께하리라. 내가 너를 떠나지 아니하며 버리지 아니하리니 5. There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
6. 마음을 강하게 하고 크게 용기를 내라. 내가 이 백성의 조상들에게 맹세하여 그들에게 주겠다고 한 땅을 네가 이 백성에게 상속 재산으로 나누어 주리라. 6. Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.
7. 오직 너는 마음을 강하게 하고 심히 용감한 자가 되어 내 종 모세가 네게 명령한 모든 율법대로 지켜 행하고 그것을 떠나 오른쪽으로나 왼쪽으로나 치우치지 말라. 그리하면 네가 어디로 가든지 형통하리라. 7. Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
8. 너는 이 율법 책을 네 입에서 떠나지 말게 하며 밤낮으로 그것을 묵상하여 그 안에 기록된 모든 것에 따라 지켜 행하라. 그리하면 네가 네 길을 형통하게 하며 또한 크게 성공하리라. 8. This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
9. 내가 네게 명령하지 아니하였느냐? 마음을 강하게 하고 크게 용기를 내라. 두려워하지 말며 너는 놀라지 말라. 네가 어디로 가든지 {주} 네 하나님이 너와 함께하느니라, 하시니라. 9. Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
10. ¶ 이에 여호수아가 백성의 직무 수행자들에게 명령하여 이르되, 10. ¶ Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,
11. 군대를 두루 지나가며 백성에게 명령하여 이르기를, 너희는 양식을 예비하라. 사흘 안에 너희가 이 요르단을 건너 {주} 너희 하나님께서 너희에게 소유로 주시는 땅을 소유하러 들어가리라, 하라. 11. Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the LORD your God giveth you to possess it.
12. ¶ 또 여호수아가 르우벤 족속과 갓 족속과 므낫세 반 지파에게 말하여 이르되, 12. ¶ And to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to half the tribe of Manasseh, spake Joshua, saying,
13. {주}의 종 모세가 너희에게 명령하여 이르기를, {주} 너희 하나님께서 너희에게 안식을 주시고 또 이 땅을 너희에게 주셨느니라, 하였나니 너희는 그 말을 기억하라. 13. Remember the word which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, saying, The LORD your God hath given you rest, and hath given you this land.
14. 너희 아내들과 어린것들과 가축은 모세가 요르단 이편에서 너희에게 준 땅에 머무르려니와 너희 모든 강한 용사들은 무장하고 너희 형제들보다 앞서 건너가 그들을 돕되 14. Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall remain in the land which Moses gave you on this side Jordan; but ye shall pass before your brethren armed, all the mighty men of valour, and help them;
15. {주}께서 너희에게 안식을 주신 것 같이 너희 형제들에게 안식을 주사 그들 또한 {주} 너희 하나님께서 그들에게 주시는 땅을 소유하게 될 때까지 그들을 도울지니라. 그 뒤에 너희는 너희 소유의 땅 즉 {주}의 종 모세가 요르단 이편 곧 해 뜨는 편에서 너희에게 준 땅으로 돌아가 그것을 차지할지니라, 하니라. 15. Until the LORD have given your brethren rest, as he hath given you, and they also have possessed the land which the LORD your God giveth them: then ye shall return unto the land of your possession, and enjoy it, which Moses the LORD'S servant gave you on this side Jordan toward the sunrising.
16. ¶ 그들이 여호수아에게 응답하여 이르되, 당신이 우리에게 명령하는 모든 것을 우리가 행할 것이요, 당신이 어디로 우리를 보내든지 우리가 가리이다. 16. ¶ And they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou commandest us we will do, and whithersoever thou sendest us, we will go.
17. 우리가 모든 일에서 모세의 말에 귀를 기울인 것 같이 당신의 말에 귀를 기울이려니와 오직 {주} 당신의 하나님께서 모세와 함께하시던 것 같이 당신과 함께하시기를 원하나이다. 17. According as we hearkened unto Moses in all things, so will we hearken unto thee: only the LORD thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses.
18. 누구든지 당신의 명령을 거역하며 당신이 명령하는 모든 일에서 당신의 말씀에 귀를 기울이지 아니하는 자는 죽임을 당하리니 오직 마음을 강하게 하고 크게 용기를 내소서, 하니라. 18. Whosoever he be that doth rebel against thy commandment, and will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him, he shall be put to death: only be strong and of a good courage.
1. 눈의 아들 여호수아가 은밀히 정탐하려고 시팀에서 두 사람을 보내며 이르되, 가서 그 땅과 여리고를 엿보라, 하매 그들이 가서 라합이라는 이름의 창녀의 집에 들어가 거기 머물더라. 1. And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying, Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into an harlot's house, named Rahab, and lodged there.
2. 어떤 이가 여리고 왕에게 고하여 이르되, 보소서, 오늘 밤에 이스라엘 자손 중 몇 사람이 지역을 탐지하러 여기로 왔나이다, 하거늘 2. And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, Behold, there came men in hither to night of the children of Israel to search out the country.
3. 여리고 왕이 라합에게 사람을 보내어 이르되, 네게로 와서 네 집에 들어간 사람들을 끌어내라. 그들이 온 지역을 탐지하러 왔느니라, 하매 3. And the king of Jericho sent unto Rahab, saying, Bring forth the men that are come to thee, which are entered into thine house: for they be come to search out all the country.
4. 그 여인이 그 두 사람을 데려다 숨기고는 이같이 이르되, 사람들이 내게 왔었으나 그들이 어디에서 왔는지 나는 알지 못하였고 4. And the woman took the two men, and hid them, and said thus, There came men unto me, but I wist not whence they were:
5. 어두워서 성문을 닫을 때쯤 되어 그 사람들이 나갔으니 그 사람들이 어디로 갔는지 나는 알지 못하노라. 급히 그들을 추격하라. 너희가 그들을 따라잡으리라, 하니라. 5. And it came to pass about the time of shutting of the gate, when it was dark, that the men went out: whither the men went I wot not: pursue after them quickly; for ye shall overtake them.
6. 그러나 그녀가 이미 그들을 집의 지붕으로 데리고 올라가 자기가 이미 지붕에 가지런히 쌓아 놓은 아마 줄기로 그들을 숨겼더라. 6. But she had brought them up to the roof of the house, and hid them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order upon the roof.
7. 그 사람들은 요르단에 이르는 길로 여울까지 그들을 추격하였는데 그들을 추격하는 자들이 나가매 그들이 곧 성문을 닫았더라. 7. And the men pursued after them the way to Jordan unto the fords: and as soon as they which pursued after them were gone out, they shut the gate.
8. ¶ 그들이 눕기 전에 그녀가 지붕에 올라가 그들에게 이르러 8. ¶ And before they were laid down, she came up unto them upon the roof;
9. 그 사람들에게 말하되, {주}께서 이 땅을 너희에게 주신 줄을 내가 아노라. 너희의 두려움이 우리에게 임하였고 또 이 땅의 모든 거주민이 너희로 인하여 기력을 잃었나니 9. And she said unto the men, I know that the LORD hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.
10. 너희가 이집트에서 나올 때에 {주}께서 너희를 위해 홍해 물을 마르게 하신 일과 너희가 요르단 저편에 있던 아모리 족속의 두 왕 시혼과 옥에게 행한 일 곧 그들을 진멸한 일을 우리가 들었노라. 10. For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.
11. 우리가 이 일들에 관하여 들을 때에 곧 우리 마음이 녹았고 또 너희로 인하여 어떤 사람에게도 더 이상 용기가 남지 아니하였나니 {주} 너희 하나님 즉 그분은 위로 하늘에서와 아래로 땅에서 하나님이시니라. 11. And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.
12. 그러므로 이제 청하건대 내가 너희에게 친절을 베풀었은즉 너희도 내 아버지 집에 친절을 베풀 것을 {주}를 두고 내게 맹세하며 내게 참된 증표를 주고 12. Now therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by the LORD, since I have shewed you kindness, that ye will also shew kindness unto my father's house, and give me a true token:
13. 또 내 아버지와 어머니와 형제들과 자매들과 그들에게 속한 모든 자를 살려 두며 우리의 생명을 죽음에서 건져 내라, 하니 13. And that ye will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.
14. 그 사람들이 그녀에게 응답하되, 네가 우리의 이 일을 입 밖에 내지 아니하면 우리 생명으로 너희 생명을 대신할 것이요, {주}께서 우리에게 그 땅을 주실 때에 우리가 친절하고 진실하게 너를 대접하리라, 하매 14. And the men answered her, Our life for yours, if ye utter not this our business. And it shall be, when the LORD hath given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee.
15. 이에 그녀가 창을 통해 그들을 줄로 달아 내리니라. 그녀의 집은 고을의 성벽 위에 있었으므로 그녀가 성벽 위에 거하였더라. 15. Then she let them down by a cord through the window: for her house was upon the town wall, and she dwelt upon the wall.
16. 그녀가 그들에게 이르되, 추격하는 자들이 너희를 만날까 염려하노니 너희는 산으로 가서 추격하는 자들이 돌아갈 때까지 거기서 사흘 동안 숨었다가 그 뒤에 너희 길로 갈지니라, 하매 16. And she said unto them, Get you to the mountain, lest the pursuers meet you; and hide yourselves there three days, until the pursuers be returned: and afterward may ye go your way.
17. 그 사람들이 그녀에게 이르되, 네가 우리로 하여금 서약하게 한 너의 이 맹세에 관하여 우리가 비난을 받지 아니하리라. 17. And the men said unto her, We will be blameless of this thine oath which thou hast made us swear.
18. 보라, 우리가 이 땅에 들어올 때에 너는 우리를 달아 내린 창에 주홍색 실로 된 이 줄을 매어 두고 네 아버지와 어머니와 형제들과 네 아버지의 온 집안을 네 집으로 데려오라. 18. Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father's household, home unto thee.
19. 누구든지 네 집 문을 나서 거리로 나가면 그의 피가 그의 머리로 돌아갈 것이요, 우리는 무죄하리라. 누가 너와 함께 집에 있든지 어떤 사람이 그에게 손을 대면 그의 피가 우리 머리로 돌아오려니와 19. And it shall be, that whosoever shall go out of the doors of thy house into the street, his blood shall be upon his head, and we will be guiltless: and whosoever shall be with thee in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand be upon him.
20. 만일 네가 우리의 이 일을 입 밖에 내면 네가 우리로 하여금 서약하게 한 맹세에서 우리가 벗어나리라, 하니 20. And if thou utter this our business, then we will be quit of thine oath which thou hast made us to swear.
21. 그녀가 이르되, 너희 말대로 되리라, 하고는 그들을 보내어 떠나가게 하고 주홍색 줄을 창에 매어 두니라. 21. And she said, According unto your words, so be it. And she sent them away, and they departed: and she bound the scarlet line in the window.
22. 그들이 가서 산에 이르러 추격하는 자들이 돌아갈 때까지 사흘 동안 거기 거하매 추격하는 자들이 그들을 온 길에서 두루 찾았으나 만나지 못하니라. 22. And they went, and came unto the mountain, and abode there three days, until the pursuers were returned: and the pursuers sought them throughout all the way, but found them not.
23. ¶ 이에 그 두 사람이 돌아서서 산에서 내려와 건너가서 눈의 아들 여호수아에게 이르러 자기들에게 일어난 모든 일을 그에게 고하고 23. So the two men returned, and descended from the mountain, and passed over, and came to Joshua the son of Nun, and told him all things that befell them:
24. 또 여호수아에게 이르되, 진실로 {주}께서 그 온 땅을 우리 손에 넘겨주셨으므로 심지어 그 지역의 모든 거주민이 우리로 인하여 기진해 있나이다, 하였더라. 24. And they said unto Joshua, Truly the LORD hath delivered into our hands all the land; for even all the inhabitants of the country do faint because of us.
1. 여호수아가 아침에 일찍 일어났고 그와 이스라엘의 모든 자손이 시팀에서 떠나 요르단에 이르렀으며 그들이 건너기 전에 거기서 머물렀더라. 1. And Joshua rose early in the morning; and they removed from Shittim, and came to Jordan, he and all the children of Israel, and lodged there before they passed over.
2. 사흘 뒤에 직무 수행자들이 군대를 두루 다니며 2. And it came to pass after three days, that the officers went through the host;
3. 백성에게 명령하여 이르되, 너희가 {주} 너희 하나님의 언약 궤와 그 궤를 멘 레위 사람 제사장들을 보거든 너희 처소를 떠나 그것의 뒤를 따르라. 3. And they commanded the people, saying, When ye see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then ye shall remove from your place, and go after it.
4. 그러나 너희와 그 궤 사이의 거리를 재서 이천 큐빗쯤 되게 하고 그것에 가까이 가지 말라. 그리하면 너희가 반드시 가야 할 길을 알게 되리니 너희가 이전에 이 길을 지나지 아니하였느니라. 4. Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure: come not near unto it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passed this way heretofore.
5. 여호수아가 또 백성에게 이르되, 너희 자신을 거룩히 구별하라. {주}께서 내일 너희 가운데서 이적들을 행하시리라, 하고 5. And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for to morrow the LORD will do wonders among you.
6. 여호수아가 또 제사장들에게 말하여 이르되, 언약 궤를 메고 백성 앞에서 건너라, 하매 그들이 언약 궤를 취하고 백성 앞에서 가니라. 6. And Joshua spake unto the priests, saying, Take up the ark of the covenant, and pass over before the people. And they took up the ark of the covenant, and went before the people.
7. ¶ {주}께서 여호수아에게 이르시되, 이 날 내가 온 이스라엘의 눈앞에서 너를 크게 만들기 시작하여 내가 모세와 함께하던 것 같이 너와 함께할 것을 그들이 알게 하리라. 7. ¶ And the LORD said unto Joshua, This day will I begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee.
8. 너는 언약 궤를 메는 제사장들에게 명령하여 이르기를, 너희가 요르단의 물가에 이르거든 요르단 속에 가만히 서라, 하라, 하시니라. 8. And thou shalt command the priests that bear the ark of the covenant, saying, When ye are come to the brink of the water of Jordan, ye shall stand still in Jordan.
9. ¶ 여호수아가 이스라엘 자손에게 이르되, 이리 와서 {주} 너희 하나님의 말씀들을 들으라, 하고 9. ¶ And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, Come hither, and hear the words of the LORD your God.
10. 또 이르되, 살아 계신 하나님께서 너희 가운데 계시사 가나안 족속과 헷 족속과 히위 족속과 브리스 족속과 기르가스 족속과 아모리 족속과 여부스 족속을 너희 앞에서 실수 없이 쫓아내실 줄을 너희가 이 일로 알리라. 10. And Joshua said, Hereby ye shall know that the living God is among you, and that he will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hivites, and the Perizzites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Jebusites.
11. 보라, 온 땅의 [주]의 언약 궤가 너희 앞을 지나서 요르단으로 들어가나니 11. Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth passeth over before you into Jordan.
12. 그러므로 이제 너희는 이스라엘 지파들에서 각 지파에서 한 사람씩 열두 사람을 취하라. 12. Now therefore take you twelve men out of the tribes of Israel, out of every tribe a man.
13. {주} 곧 온 땅의 [주]의 궤를 메는 제사장들의 발바닥이 요르단의 물들 속에서 멈추어 서면 곧바로 요르단의 물들이 위에서 내려오는 물들로부터 끊어지고 일어서서 한 무더기 위에 쌓이리라, 하니라. 13. And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the LORD, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of Jordan, that the waters of Jordan shall be cut off from the waters that come down from above; and they shall stand upon an heap.
14. ¶ 백성이 요르단을 건너려고 자기들의 장막에서 떠날 때에 제사장들은 백성 앞에서 언약 궤를 메니라. 14. ¶ And it came to pass, when the people removed from their tents, to pass over Jordan, and the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people;
15. (요르단이 수확할 때에 항상 그것의 모든 둑에서 흘러넘치므로) 궤를 멘 자들이 요르단에 이르매 궤를 멘 제사장들의 발이 물가에서 잠기니라. 15. And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water, (for Jordan overfloweth all his banks all the time of harvest,)
16. 위에서부터 내려오던 물들이 일어서고 솟아올라 사르단 옆의 도시 아담에서부터 멀리 떨어진 곳에서 한 무더기 위에 쌓이며 평야의 바다 곧 염해로 내려가던 물들은 모자라서 끊어지매 백성이 똑바로 여리고를 마주보며 건넜더라. 16. That the waters which came down from above stood and rose up upon an heap very far from the city Adam, that is beside Zaretan: and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, failed, and were cut off: and the people passed over right against Jericho.
17. {주}의 언약 궤를 멘 제사장들은 요르단 한가운데서 마른 땅에 굳게 섰고 모든 이스라엘 사람은 마른 땅을 건너더니 마침내 온 백성이 깨끗하게 요르단을 건너니라. 17. And the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the midst of Jordan, and all the Israelites passed over on dry ground, until all the people were passed clean over Jordan.
1. 온 백성이 깨끗하게 요르단을 건너매 {주}께서 여호수아에게 말씀하여 이르시되, 1. And it came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over Jordan, that the LORD spake unto Joshua, saying,
2. 너희는 백성 중에서 각 지파에서 한 사람씩 열두 사람을 취하고 2. Take you twelve men out of the people, out of every tribe a man,
3. 그들에게 명령하여 이르기를, 이제 너희는 요르단 한가운데 곧 제사장들의 발이 굳게 선 그곳에서 열두 개의 돌을 취하고 그것들을 가져다가 이 밤에 너희가 머무를 곳 즉 머무는 장소에 두라, 하라, 하시니 3. And command ye them, saying, Take you hence out of the midst of Jordan, out of the place where the priests' feet stood firm, twelve stones, and ye shall carry them over with you, and leave them in the lodging place, where ye shall lodge this night.
4. 이에 여호수아가 이스라엘 자손 중에서 각 지파에서 한 사람씩 예비한 열두 사람을 불러 4. Then Joshua called the twelve men, whom he had prepared of the children of Israel, out of every tribe a man:
5. 그들에게 이르되, 너희는 {주} 너희 하나님의 궤 앞에서 건너 요르단 한가운데로 들어가고 이스라엘 자손의 지파 수에 따라 너희 각 사람이 돌 한 개씩을 취하여 어깨에 메라. 5. And Joshua said unto them, Pass over before the ark of the LORD your God into the midst of Jordan, and take ye up every man of you a stone upon his shoulder, according unto the number of the tribes of the children of Israel:
6. 이것이 너희 가운데 표적이 되리라. 이후에 너희 자손들이 자기 아버지들에게 물어 이르되, 이 돌들은 무엇을 뜻하나이까? 하거든 6. That this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean ye by these stones?
7. 너희는 그들에게 대답하기를, 전에 요르단의 물들이 {주}의 언약 궤 앞에서 끊어졌나니 곧 언약 궤가 요르단을 건널 때에 요르단의 물들이 끊어졌으므로 이 돌들이 이스라엘 자손에게 영원토록 기념이 되리라, 하라, 하매 7. Then ye shall answer them, That the waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it passed over Jordan, the waters of Jordan were cut off: and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel for ever.
8. 이스라엘 자손이 여호수아가 명령한 대로 행하되 {주}께서 여호수아에게 말씀하신 대로 이스라엘 자손의 지파 수대로 요르단 한가운데서 열두 개의 돌을 취하여 자기들이 머문 장소로 가져다가 거기에 두었더라. 8. And the children of Israel did so as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the midst of Jordan, as the LORD spake unto Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel, and carried them over with them unto the place where they lodged, and laid them down there.
9. 여호수아가 또 요르단 한가운데 곧 언약 궤를 멘 제사장들의 발이 선 곳에 열두 개의 돌을 세웠는데 그 돌들이 이 날까지 거기 있느니라. 9. And Joshua set up twelve stones in the midst of Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests which bare the ark of the covenant stood: and they are there unto this day.
10. ¶ {주}께서 여호수아에게 명령하사 백성에게 말하게 하신 모든 일이 모세가 여호수아에게 명령한 모든 것에 따라 끝날 때까지 궤를 멘 제사장들은 요르단 한가운데 섰고 백성은 서둘러 건넜더라. 10. ¶ For the priests which bare the ark stood in the midst of Jordan, until every thing was finished that the LORD commanded Joshua to speak unto the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua: and the people hasted and passed over.
11. 온 백성이 깨끗하게 건넌 뒤에 {주}의 궤와 제사장들이 백성의 눈앞에서 건넜으며 11. And it came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over, that the ark of the LORD passed over, and the priests, in the presence of the people.
12. 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손과 므낫세 반 지파는 모세가 그들에게 말한 것 같이 무장하고 이스라엘 자손보다 앞서 건너가되 12. And the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh, passed over armed before the children of Israel, as Moses spake unto them:
13. 사만 명가량이 전쟁을 하려고 예비한 채 {주} 앞에서 건너가 싸우려고 여리고 평야에 이르니라. 13. About forty thousand prepared for war passed over before the LORD unto battle, to the plains of Jericho.
14. ¶ 그 날에 {주}께서 온 이스라엘의 눈앞에서 여호수아를 크게 하시매 그의 평생 동안 그들이 모세를 두려워하던 것 같이 그를 두려워하였더라. 14. ¶ On that day the LORD magnified Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they feared him, as they feared Moses, all the days of his life.
15. {주}께서 여호수아에게 말씀하여 이르시되, 15. And the LORD spake unto Joshua, saying,
16. 증언 궤를 메는 제사장들에게 명령하여 그들이 요르단에서 올라오게 하라, 하시니라. 16. Command the priests that bear the ark of the testimony, that they come up out of Jordan.
17. 그러므로 여호수아가 제사장들에게 명령하여 이르기를, 너희는 요르단에서 올라오라, 하매 17. Joshua therefore commanded the priests, saying, Come ye up out of Jordan.
18. {주}의 언약 궤를 멘 제사장들이 요르단 한가운데서 나와 마른 땅을 향해 발바닥을 들어 올리니 요르단의 물들이 제자리로 돌아가 예전과 같이 흐르며 그것의 모든 둑에서 넘쳤더라. 18. And it came to pass, when the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD were come up out of the midst of Jordan, and the soles of the priests' feet were lifted up unto the dry land, that the waters of Jordan returned unto their place, and flowed over all his banks, as they did before.
19. ¶ 백성이 첫째 달 십일에 요르단에서 올라와 여리고 동쪽 경계에 있는 길갈에 진을 치매 19. ¶ And the people came up out of Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, in the east border of Jericho.
20. 여호수아가 그들이 요르단에서 취한 그 열두 개의 돌을 길갈에 세우고 20. And those twelve stones, which they took out of Jordan, did Joshua pitch in Gilgal.
21. 이스라엘 자손에게 말하여 이르되, 이후에 너희 자손들이 자기 아버지들에게 물어 이르되, 이 돌들은 무엇을 뜻하나이까? 하거든 21. And he spake unto the children of Israel, saying, When your children shall ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean these stones?
22. 너희는 너희 자손들에게 알려 주며 이르기를, 이스라엘이 마른 땅을 밟고 이 요르단을 지나갔느니라. 22. Then ye shall let your children know, saying, Israel came over this Jordan on dry land.
23. {주} 너희 하나님께서 우리가 지나갈 때까지 홍해를 우리 앞에서 마르게 하신 것 같이 {주} 너희 하나님께서 너희가 건널 때까지 요르단의 물들을 너희 앞에서 마르게 하셨나니 23. For the LORD your God dried up the waters of Jordan from before you, until ye were passed over, as the LORD your God did to the Red sea, which he dried up from before us, until we were gone over:
24. 이것은 {주}의 손이 강력함을 땅의 모든 백성들이 알게 하려 하심이며 또한 너희가 {주} 너희 하나님을 영원토록 두려워하게 하려 하심이라, 하라, 하니라. 24. That all the people of the earth might know the hand of the LORD, that it is mighty: that ye might fear the LORD your God for ever.
1. 요르단 서쪽에 있던 아모리 족속의 모든 왕과 바닷가의 가나안 족속의 모든 왕이 우리가 건널 때까지 {주}께서 이스라엘 자손 앞에서 요르단의 물들을 마르게 하신 것을 들었을 때에 그들의 마음이 녹았고 이스라엘 자손으로 인하여 그들에게 더 이상 정신이 없었더라. 1. And it came to pass, when all the kings of the Amorites, which were on the side of Jordan westward, and all the kings of the Canaanites, which were by the sea, heard that the LORD had dried up the waters of Jordan from before the children of Israel, until we were passed over, that their heart melted, neither was there spirit in them any more, because of the children of Israel.
2. ¶ 그때에 {주}께서 여호수아에게 이르시되, 너는 예리한 칼을 만들어 다시 이스라엘 자손에게 두 번째 할례를 행하라, 하시매 2. ¶ At that time the LORD said unto Joshua, Make thee sharp knives, and circumcise again the children of Israel the second time.
3. 여호수아가 예리한 칼을 만들어 포피 산에서 이스라엘 자손에게 할례를 행하니라. 3. And Joshua made him sharp knives, and circumcised the children of Israel at the hill of the foreskins.
4. 여호수아가 할례를 행한 까닭은 이러하니라. 이집트에서 나온 온 백성 중에서 남자들 곧 모든 군사는 이집트에서 나온 뒤 광야에서 길에서 죽었으며 4. And this is the cause why Joshua did circumcise: All the people that came out of Egypt, that were males, even all the men of war, died in the wilderness by the way, after they came out of Egypt.
5. 이제 거기서 나온 온 백성은 할례를 받았으나 그들이 이집트에서 나온 뒤 광야에서 길에서 태어난 온 백성에게는 할례를 행하지 아니하였더라. 5. Now all the people that came out were circumcised: but all the people that were born in the wilderness by the way as they came forth out of Egypt, them they had not circumcised.
6. 이집트에서 나온 온 백성 곧 군사들이 {주}의 음성에 순종하지 아니하였으므로 그들이 소멸될 때까지 이스라엘 자손이 광야에서 사십 년 동안 걸었더라. {주}께서 그들에게 그 땅 곧 {주}께서 그들의 조상들에게 맹세하여 친히 우리에게 주리라고 하신 땅 즉 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅을 친히 그들에게 보여 주지 아니하리라고 맹세하셨더라. 6. For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the people that were men of war, which came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD: unto whom the LORD sware that he would not shew them the land, which the LORD sware unto their fathers that he would give us, a land that floweth with milk and honey.
7. 그분께서 그들을 대신하여 일으킨 그들의 자손들에게 여호수아가 할례를 행하였으니 그들이 길에서 그 자손들에게 할례를 행하지 아니하였으므로 그들이 할례를 받지 아니하였더라. 7. And their children, whom he raised up in their stead, them Joshua circumcised: for they were uncircumcised, because they had not circumcised them by the way.
8. 그들이 온 백성에게 할례를 행한 뒤에 그들이 온전하게 될 때까지 진영에 있는 자기들의 처소에 거하니라. 8. And it came to pass, when they had done circumcising all the people, that they abode in their places in the camp, till they were whole.
9. {주}께서 여호수아에게 이르시되, 이 날 내가 너희에게서 이집트의 수치를 떼 내어 굴러가게 하였노라, 하셨으므로 그곳의 이름을 이 날까지 길갈이라 하니라. 9. And the LORD said unto Joshua, This day have I rolled away the reproach of Egypt from off you. Wherefore the name of the place is called Gilgal unto this day.
10. ¶ 이스라엘 자손이 길갈에 진을 쳤고 그 달 십사일 저녁에 여리고 평야에서 유월절을 지켰으며 10. ¶ And the children of Israel encamped in Gilgal, and kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the month at even in the plains of Jericho.
11. 유월절 다음 날에 그 땅의 묵은 곡식을 먹되 바로 그 날에 누룩 없는 납작한 빵과 볶은 곡식을 먹었더라. 11. And they did eat of the old corn of the land on the morrow after the passover, unleavened cakes, and parched corn in the selfsame day.
12. ¶ 그들이 그 땅의 묵은 곡식을 먹은 다음 날에 만나가 그치므로 이스라엘 자손이 더 이상 만나를 얻지 못하였으나 그 해에 가나안 땅의 열매를 먹었더라. 12. ¶ And the manna ceased on the morrow after they had eaten of the old corn of the land; neither had the children of Israel manna any more; but they did eat of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year.
13. ¶ 여호수아가 여리고 옆에 왔을 때에 눈을 들어 보니, 보라, 한 남자가 칼을 빼어 손에 들고 마주 섰으므로 여호수아가 그에게 가서 그에게 이르되, 너는 우리 편이냐? 우리 대적들의 편이냐? 하매 13. ¶ And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?
14. 그가 이르되, 아니라. 나는 지금 {주}의 군대의 대장으로 왔느니라, 하니 여호수아가 얼굴을 땅에 대고 경배하며 그에게 이르되, 내 주께서 자신의 종에게 무슨 말씀을 하려 하시나이까? 하매 14. And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?
15. {주}의 군대의 대장이 여호수아에게 이르되, 네가 선 곳은 거룩하니 네 발에서 신을 벗으라, 하매 여호수아가 그대로 행하니라. 15. And the captain of the LORD'S host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.
1. 이제 이스라엘 자손으로 인하여 여리고는 굳게 닫히고 아무도 나가지 아니하며 아무도 들어오지 아니하더라. 1. Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in.
2. {주}께서 여호수아에게 이르시되, 보라, 내가 여리고와 그것의 왕과 강한 용사들을 네 손에 넘겨주었나니 2. And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.
3. 너희 모든 군사는 그 도시를 에워싸고 도시 주위를 한 번씩 돌되 너는 엿새 동안을 그리할지니라. 3. And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.
4. 일곱 명의 제사장은 궤 앞에서 숫양의 뿔 나팔 일곱 개를 들고 갈 것이요, 일곱째 날에는 너희가 그 도시를 일곱 번 에워싸고 제사장들은 나팔을 불 것이며 4. And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams' horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets.
5. 제사장들이 숫양의 뿔 나팔을 길게 불어 너희가 나팔 소리를 들을 때에 온 백성은 큰 소리로 외칠지니라. 그리하면 그 도시의 성벽이 납작하게 무너져 내리리니 백성은 각각 곧장 자기 앞으로 올라갈지니라, 하시니라. 5. And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.
6. ¶ 눈의 아들 여호수아가 제사장들을 불러 그들에게 이르되, 언약 궤를 메고 일곱 명의 제사장은 {주}의 궤 앞에서 숫양의 뿔 나팔 일곱 개를 들고 가라, 하고 6. ¶ And Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said unto them, Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of the LORD.
7. 또 백성에게 이르되, 나아가서 도시를 에워싸되 무장한 자가 {주}의 궤 앞에서 나아갈지니라, 하니라. 7. And he said unto the people, Pass on, and compass the city, and let him that is armed pass on before the ark of the LORD.
8. ¶ 여호수아가 백성에게 말하기를 마치매 일곱 명의 제사장이 숫양의 뿔 나팔 일곱 개를 들고 {주} 앞에서 나아가며 나팔을 불고 {주}의 언약 궤는 그들을 따르더라. 8. ¶ And it came to pass, when Joshua had spoken unto the people, that the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams' horns passed on before the LORD, and blew with the trumpets: and the ark of the covenant of the LORD followed them.
9. ¶ 또 무장한 사람들은 나팔을 부는 제사장들 앞에서 가며 후위대는 궤 뒤에 가고 제사장들은 가면서 나팔을 불었더라. 9. ¶ And the armed men went before the priests that blew with the trumpets, and the rereward came after the ark, the priests going on, and blowing with the trumpets.
10. 여호수아가 백성에게 명령하여 이르되, 너희는 외치지 말며 너희 음성으로 소리를 내지도 말고 너희 입에서 아무 말도 내지 말라. 마침내 내가 너희에게 명령하여 외치라고 하는 날이 오면 그때에 너희가 외칠지니라, 하니라. 10. And Joshua had commanded the people, saying, Ye shall not shout, nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you shout; then shall ye shout.
11. 이와 같이 {주}의 궤가 그 도시를 한 번 돌고 에워싼 뒤에 그들이 진영으로 돌아와 진영에 머무니라. 11. So the ark of the LORD compassed the city, going about it once: and they came into the camp, and lodged in the camp.
12. ¶ 여호수아가 아침에 일찍 일어나매 제사장들이 {주}의 궤를 메니라. 12. ¶ And Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of the LORD.
13. 일곱 명의 제사장은 {주}의 궤 앞에서 숫양의 뿔 나팔 일곱 개를 들고 계속해서 나아가며 나팔을 불고 무장한 사람들은 그들 앞에서 가며 후위대는 {주}의 궤 뒤에 가고 제사장들은 가면서 나팔을 불었더라. 13. And seven priests bearing seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of the LORD went on continually, and blew with the trumpets: and the armed men went before them; but the rereward came after the ark of the LORD, the priests going on, and blowing with the trumpets.
14. 둘째 날에도 그들이 도시를 한 번 에워싸고 진영에 돌아왔으며 그들이 엿새 동안을 이와 같이 행하니라. 14. And the second day they compassed the city once, and returned into the camp: so they did six days.
15. 일곱째 날에 그들이 날이 샐 무렵에 일찍 일어나 같은 방식으로 도시를 일곱 번 에워쌌는데 그 날에만 그들이 도시를 일곱 번 에워쌌더라. 15. And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early about the dawning of the day, and compassed the city after the same manner seven times: only on that day they compassed the city seven times.
16. 일곱 번째에 제사장들이 나팔을 불매 여호수아가 백성에게 이르되, 외치라. {주}께서 도시를 너희에게 주셨느니라. 16. And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for the LORD hath given you the city.
17. ¶ 도시와 그 안에 있는 모든 물건은 {주}께 저주를 받을 터이나 오직 창녀 라합과 그녀와 함께 집에 있는 모든 자는 살리니 우리가 보낸 사자들을 그녀가 숨겼느니라. 17. ¶ And the city shall be accursed, even it, and all that are therein, to the LORD: only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.
18. 너희는 반드시 저주받은 물건으로부터 너희 자신을 멀리하라. 너희가 저주받은 물건 중에서 취하여 너희 자신을 저주받게 하며 또 이스라엘 진영을 저주거리로 만들고 괴롭게 할까 염려하노라. 18. And ye, in any wise keep yourselves from the accursed thing, lest ye make yourselves accursed, when ye take of the accursed thing, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it.
19. 그러나 모든 은과 금 그리고 놋과 쇠 기구들은 {주}께 거룩히 구분되었은즉 그것들을 {주}의 보고에 들일지니라, 하니 19. But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are consecrated unto the LORD: they shall come into the treasury of the LORD.
20. 제사장들이 나팔을 불매 백성이 그렇게 외치니라. 백성이 나팔 소리를 들을 때에 크게 소리 질러 외치니 성벽이 납작하게 무너져 내리므로 백성이 각각 곧장 자기 앞으로 나아가 도시로 올라가 도시를 점령하고 20. So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.
21. 도시 안에 있던 모든 것을 진멸하되 남자와 여자와 어린이와 노인과 소와 양과 나귀를 칼날로 진멸하니라. 21. And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.
22. 그러나 여호수아가 그 지역을 정탐한 두 사람에게 이르되, 그 창녀의 집에 들어가 너희가 그 여인에게 맹세한 대로 그녀와 그녀에게 속한 모든 것을 데리고 나오라, 하매 22. But Joshua had said unto the two men that had spied out the country, Go into the harlot's house, and bring out thence the woman, and all that she hath, as ye sware unto her.
23. 정탐한 청년들이 들어가 라합과 그녀의 아버지와 어머니와 형제들과 그녀에게 속한 모든 것을 데리고 나오고 그녀의 모든 친족을 데리고 나와서 이스라엘 진영 밖에 두니라. 23. And the young men that were spies went in, and brought out Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and all that she had; and they brought out all her kindred, and left them without the camp of Israel.
24. 그들이 도시와 그 안에 있던 모든 것을 불로 태웠으나 다만 은과 금 그리고 놋과 쇠 기구들은 {주}의 집의 보고에 두었더라. 24. And they burnt the city with fire, and all that was therein: only the silver, and the gold, and the vessels of brass and of iron, they put into the treasury of the house of the LORD.
25. 여호수아가 창녀 라합과 그녀의 아버지 집안과 그녀에게 속한 모든 것을 살려 두었으므로 그녀가 이 날까지 이스라엘 안에 거하나니 이는 여호수아가 여리고를 정탐하려고 보낸 사자들을 그녀가 숨겼기 때문이더라. 25. And Joshua saved Rahab the harlot alive, and her father's household, and all that she had; and she dwelleth in Israel even unto this day; because she hid the messengers, which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.
26. ¶ 그때에 여호수아가 그들에게 엄히 명하여 이르되, 일어나 이 도시 여리고를 건축하는 자는 {주} 앞에서 저주를 받으리라. 그가 그것의 기초를 놓을 때에 자기의 맏아들을 잃고 그것의 문들을 세울 때에 자기의 막내아들을 잃으리라, 하였더라. 26. ¶ And Joshua adjured them at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before the LORD, that riseth up and buildeth this city Jericho: he shall lay the foundation thereof in his firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.
27. 이같이 {주}께서 여호수아와 함께하시니 그의 명성이 온 지역에 두루 퍼지니라. 27. So the LORD was with Joshua; and his fame was noised throughout all the country.
1. 그러나 이스라엘 자손이 저주받은 물건으로 인해 범법하였으니 이는 유다 지파에 속한 세라의 증손이요, 삽디의 손자요, 갈미의 아들인 아간이 저주받은 물건 중에서 취하였기 때문이라. {주}의 분노가 이스라엘 자손을 향해 타오르니라. 1. But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel.
2. 여호수아가 여리고에서 벧엘 동쪽 편에 있는 벧아웬 옆의 아이로 사람들을 보내며 그들에게 말하여 이르되, 올라가서 그 지역을 엿보라, 하매 그 사람들이 올라가서 아이를 엿보고 2. And Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Beth-aven, on the east side of Beth-el, and spake unto them, saying, Go up and view the country. And the men went up and viewed Ai.
3. 여호수아에게 돌아와 그에게 이르되, 온 백성을 올라가게 하지 마시고 이삼천 명만 올라가 아이를 치게 하소서. 그들이 적으니 온 백성으로 하여금 거기서 수고하게 하지 마소서, 하므로 3. And they returned to Joshua, and said unto him, Let not all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Ai; and make not all the people to labour thither; for they are but few.
4. 이에 백성 중에서 삼천 명가량이 거기로 올라갔다가 아이 사람들 앞에서 도망하매 4. So there went up thither of the people about three thousand men: and they fled before the men of Ai.
5. 아이 사람들이 그들 중에서 서른여섯 명쯤을 치고 성문 앞에서부터 스바림까지 쫓아와 내려가는 비탈에서 그들을 치므로 백성의 마음이 녹아서 물같이 되니라. 5. And the men of Ai smote of them about thirty and six men: for they chased them from before the gate even unto Shebarim, and smote them in the going down: wherefore the hearts of the people melted, and became as water.
6. ¶ 여호수아가 자기 옷을 찢고 이스라엘의 장로들과 함께 {주}의 궤 앞에서 땅에 얼굴을 대고 엎드리며 머리에 흙을 끼얹고 저녁때까지 있다가 6. ¶ And Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of the LORD until the eventide, he and the elders of Israel, and put dust upon their heads.
7. 여호수아가 이르되, 슬프나이다. 오 [주] {하나님}이여, 어찌하여 주께서 이 백성을 데려다가 요르단을 건너게 하시고 우리를 아모리 족속의 손에 넘겨주사 멸망시키려 하셨나이까? 우리가 요르단 저편에서 만족하고 거기 거하였더라면 좋을 뻔하였나이다! 7. And Joshua said, Alas, O Lord GOD, wherefore hast thou at all brought this people over Jordan, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? would to God we had been content, and dwelt on the other side Jordan!
8. 오 [주]여, 이스라엘이 자기 원수들 앞에서 자기 등을 돌렸으니 내가 무슨 말을 하오리이까! 8. O Lord, what shall I say, when Israel turneth their backs before their enemies!
9. 가나안 족속과 그 땅의 모든 거주민이 그것을 듣고는 우리를 둘러싸고 우리의 이름을 땅에서 끊으리니 주께서는 주의 크신 이름을 위해 어찌하려 하시나이까? 하니라. 9. For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear of it, and shall environ us round, and cut off our name from the earth: and what wilt thou do unto thy great name?
10. ¶ {주}께서 여호수아에게 이르시되, 너는 일어나라. 어찌하여 이같이 얼굴을 대고 엎드렸느냐? 10. ¶ And the LORD said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face?
11. 이스라엘이 죄를 짓고 또 그들이 내가 그들에게 명령한 내 언약을 어겼나니 그들이 저주받은 물건 중에서 취하여 도둑질하고 또 숨기고 그것을 자기들의 물건 가운데 두었느니라. 11. Israel hath sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff.
12. 그러므로 이스라엘 자손이 저주를 받아 자기 원수들 앞에 서지 못하고 자기 원수들 앞에서 자기 등을 돌렸나니 너희가 그 저주받은 것을 너희 가운데서 멸하지 아니하면 내가 다시는 너희와 함께하지 아니하리라. 12. Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: neither will I be with you any more, except ye destroy the accursed from among you.
13. 일어나 백성을 거룩히 구별하고 이르기를, 내일을 대비하여 너희 자신을 거룩히 구별하라. {주} 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이같이 말씀하시되, 오 이스라엘아, 네 한가운데 저주받은 물건이 있나니 너희가 그 저주받은 물건을 너희 가운데서 제거하기 전에는 네가 네 원수들 앞에 서지 못하리라. 13. Up, sanctify the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow: for thus saith the LORD God of Israel, There is an accursed thing in the midst of thee, O Israel: thou canst not stand before thine enemies, until ye take away the accursed thing from among you.
14. 그러므로 너희는 아침에 너희 지파대로 나아오라. {주}가 뽑는 지파는 가족들대로 나아오고 {주}가 뽑을 가족은 집안대로 나아오며 {주}가 뽑을 집안은 남자끼리 나아올지니라. 14. In the morning therefore ye shall be brought according to your tribes: and it shall be, that the tribe which the LORD taketh shall come according to the families thereof; and the family which the LORD shall take shall come by households; and the household which the LORD shall take shall come man by man.
15. 또 그 저주받은 물건을 가지고 있다가 뽑힌 자를 불로 태우되 그와 그의 모든 소유를 그리하라. 그가 {주}의 언약을 어기고 이스라엘 안에서 어리석은 짓을 행하였느니라, 하시느니라, 하라. 15. And it shall be, that he that is taken with the accursed thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he hath: because he hath transgressed the covenant of the LORD, and because he hath wrought folly in Israel.
16. ¶ 이에 여호수아가 아침에 일찍 일어나 이스라엘을 그들의 지파대로 나아오게 하였더니 유다 지파가 뽑혔더라. 16. ¶ So Joshua rose up early in the morning, and brought Israel by their tribes; and the tribe of Judah was taken:
17. 또 그가 유다의 가족을 나아오게 하여 세라 족속의 가족을 뽑았고 세라 족속의 가족을 남자끼리 나아오게 하였더니 삽디가 뽑혔으며 17. And he brought the family of Judah; and he took the family of the Zarhites: and he brought the family of the Zarhites man by man; and Zabdi was taken:
18. 그의 집안을 남자끼리 나아오게 하였더니 유다 지파에 속한 세라의 증손이요, 삽디의 손자요, 갈미의 아들인 아간이 뽑혔더라. 18. And he brought his household man by man; and Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was taken.
19. 여호수아가 아간에게 이르되, 내 아들아, 원하노니 {주} 이스라엘의 하나님께 영광을 돌리고 그분께 자백하며 네가 행한 일을 이제 내게 고하라. 그 일을 내게 숨기지 말라, 하매 19. And Joshua said unto Achan, My son, give, I pray thee, glory to the LORD God of Israel, and make confession unto him; and tell me now what thou hast done; hide it not from me.
20. 아간이 여호수아에게 응답하여 이르되, 참으로 내가 {주} 이스라엘의 하나님께 죄를 지어 이렇게 이렇게 행하였나이다. 20. And Achan answered Joshua, and said, Indeed I have sinned against the LORD God of Israel, and thus and thus have I done:
21. 내가 노략한 물건들 가운데서 바빌로니아에서 만든 좋은 옷과 은 이백 세겔과 오십 세겔 나가는 금덩이 하나를 보고 탐내어 그것들을 취하였나이다. 보소서, 이제 그것들을 내 장막 한가운데 땅 속에 감추었고 은은 그 밑에 있나이다, 하니라. 21. When I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them; and, behold, they are hid in the earth in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it.
22. ¶ 이에 여호수아가 사자들을 보내매 그들이 그 장막에 달려가니, 보라, 그것이 그의 장막 안에 숨겨져 있고 은은 그 밑에 있으므로 22. ¶ So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran unto the tent; and, behold, it was hid in his tent, and the silver under it.
23. 그들이 그것들을 장막 가운데서 취하고 여호수아와 이스라엘의 모든 자손에게로 가져와 {주} 앞에 놓으니라. 23. And they took them out of the midst of the tent, and brought them unto Joshua, and unto all the children of Israel, and laid them out before the LORD.
24. 여호수아와 온 이스라엘이 세라의 아들 아간을 붙잡고 은과 옷과 금덩이와 그의 아들딸들과 소와 나귀와 양과 장막과 그에게 속한 모든 것을 데리고 아골 골짜기로 가서 24. And Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the garment, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his asses, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had: and they brought them unto the valley of Achor.
25. 여호수아가 이르되, 네가 어찌하여 우리를 괴롭게 하였느냐? {주}께서 이 날 너를 괴롭게 하시리라, 하매 온 이스라엘이 그를 돌로 치고 그들을 돌로 친 뒤에 불로 태우며 25. And Joshua said, Why hast thou troubled us? the LORD shall trouble thee this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones.
26. 그의 위에 돌무더기를 크게 쌓아 이 날까지 이르게 하였더라. 이에 {주}께서 자신의 맹렬한 분노에서 돌아서시니 그러므로 그곳의 이름을 이 날까지 아골 골짜기라 하였더라. 26. And they raised over him a great heap of stones unto this day. So the LORD turned from the fierceness of his anger. Wherefore the name of that place was called, The valley of Achor, unto this day.
1. {주}께서 여호수아에게 이르시되, 두려워하지 말라. 너는 놀라지 말라. 싸울 수 있는 온 백성을 거느리고 일어나 아이로 올라가라. 보라, 내가 아이의 왕과 그의 백성과 그의 도시와 그의 땅을 네 손에 주었나니 1. And the LORD said unto Joshua, Fear not, neither be thou dismayed: take all the people of war with thee, and arise, go up to Ai: see, I have given into thy hand the king of Ai, and his people, and his city, and his land:
2. 너는 여리고와 그것의 왕에게 행한 것 같이 아이와 그것의 왕에게 행하되 오직 거기서 노략한 물건과 가축은 너희를 위하여 탈취물로 취하라. 너는 도시를 얻기 위해 도시 뒤에 복병을 둘지니라, 하시니라. 2. And thou shalt do to Ai and her king as thou didst unto Jericho and her king: only the spoil thereof, and the cattle thereof, shall ye take for a prey unto yourselves: lay thee an ambush for the city behind it.
3. ¶ 이에 여호수아가 일어나 싸울 수 있는 온 백성과 함께 아이를 치려고 올라가니라. 여호수아가 강한 용사 삼만 명을 뽑아 밤에 보내며 3. ¶ So Joshua arose, and all the people of war, to go up against Ai: and Joshua chose out thirty thousand mighty men of valour, and sent them away by night.
4. 그들에게 명령하여 이르되, 보라, 너희는 그 도시 뒤로 가서 도시를 마주보고 매복하되 도시에서 너무 멀리 가지 말며 모두 예비하고 있으라. 4. And he commanded them, saying, Behold, ye shall lie in wait against the city, even behind the city: go not very far from the city, but be ye all ready:
5. 나와 또 나와 함께하는 온 백성이 도시로 다가가리니 그들이 처음과 같이 우리를 치려고 나아오리라. 그때에 우리가 그들 앞에서 도망하고 5. And I, and all the people that are with me, will approach unto the city: and it shall come to pass, when they come out against us, as at the first, that we will flee before them,
6. (그들이 우리를 따라 나아올 터이므로) 마침내 그들을 도시에서 끌어내리니 그들이 말하기를, 그들이 처음과 같이 우리 앞에서 도망한다, 하리라. 그러므로 우리가 그들 앞에서 도망하리니 6. (For they will come out after us) till we have drawn them from the city; for they will say, They flee before us, as at the first: therefore we will flee before them.
7. 그때에 너희는 매복한 곳에서 일어나 도시를 점령하라. {주} 너희 하나님께서 그것을 너희 손에 넘겨주시리라. 7. Then ye shall rise up from the ambush, and seize upon the city: for the LORD your God will deliver it into your hand.
8. 너희가 그 도시를 점령하거든 도시를 불살라 {주}의 명령대로 행하라. 보라, 내가 너희에게 명령하였느니라, 하니라. 8. And it shall be, when ye have taken the city, that ye shall set the city on fire: according to the commandment of the LORD shall ye do. See, I have commanded you.
9. ¶ 그러므로 여호수아가 그들을 보내매 그들이 가서 매복하여 아이의 서쪽 편 곧 벧엘과 아이 사이에 거하였으나 여호수아는 그 밤에 백성 가운데서 머무니라. 9. ¶ Joshua therefore sent them forth: and they went to lie in ambush, and abode between Beth-el and Ai, on the west side of Ai: but Joshua lodged that night among the people.
10. 여호수아가 아침에 일찍 일어나 백성의 수를 세고 이스라엘의 장로들과 함께 백성 앞에서 아이로 올라가매 10. And Joshua rose up early in the morning, and numbered the people, and went up, he and the elders of Israel, before the people to Ai.
11. 온 백성 곧 그와 함께하며 싸울 수 있는 백성이 올라가서 그 도시 앞에 가까이 이르러 아이의 북쪽 편에 진을 치니 이제 그들과 아이 사이에는 골짜기가 있더라. 11. And all the people, even the people of war that were with him, went up, and drew nigh, and came before the city, and pitched on the north side of Ai: now there was a valley between them and Ai.
12. 그가 또 오천 명가량을 취하여 도시의 서쪽 편 곧 벧엘과 아이 사이에 두고 매복시켰더라. 12. And he took about five thousand men, and set them to lie in ambush between Beth-el and Ai, on the west side of the city.
13. 그들이 백성을 배치하되 도시의 북쪽에는 온 군대를 두고 도시의 서쪽에는 복병들을 두니 그때에 여호수아가 그 밤에 골짜기 가운데로 들어가니라. 13. And when they had set the people, even all the host that was on the north of the city, and their liers in wait on the west of the city, Joshua went that night into the midst of the valley.
14. ¶ 아이 왕이 그것을 보매 그들이 신속히 일찍 일어나고 도시 사람들 곧 그와 그의 온 백성이 나가서 평야 앞에서 정한 때에 이스라엘과 싸우려 하였으나 그는 도시 뒤에 자기를 치는 복병들이 있는 줄 알지 못하였더라. 14. ¶ And it came to pass, when the king of Ai saw it, that they hasted and rose up early, and the men of the city went out against Israel to battle, he and all his people, at a time appointed, before the plain; but he wist not that there were liers in ambush against him behind the city.
15. 여호수아와 온 이스라엘이 그들 앞에서 패한 것처럼 하고 광야 길로 도망하매 15. And Joshua and all Israel made as if they were beaten before them, and fled by the way of the wilderness.
16. 아이에 있던 온 백성이 부름을 받아 그들을 추격하려고 함께 모여 여호수아를 추격하며 도시에서 떠나니 16. And all the people that were in Ai were called together to pursue after them: and they pursued after Joshua, and were drawn away from the city.
17. 아이나 벧엘에서 이스라엘을 따라가지 아니하고 남은 자가 하나도 없었으며 그들이 도시를 열어 놓고 이스라엘을 추격하였더라. 17. And there was not a man left in Ai or Beth-el, that went not out after Israel: and they left the city open, and pursued after Israel.
18. {주}께서 여호수아에게 이르시되, 네 손에 잡은 창을 내밀어 아이를 가리키라. 내가 그것을 네 손에 넘겨주리라, 하시니 여호수아가 자기 손에 잡은 창을 내밀어 그 도시를 가리키니라. 18. And the LORD said unto Joshua, Stretch out the spear that is in thy hand toward Ai; for I will give it into thine hand. And Joshua stretched out the spear that he had in his hand toward the city.
19. 그가 손을 내밀매 즉시 복병들이 자기 처소에서 급히 일어나 그 도시로 달려 들어가 그것을 점령하고 서둘러 도시에 불을 놓았더라. 19. And the ambush arose quickly out of their place, and they ran as soon as he had stretched out his hand: and they entered into the city, and took it, and hasted and set the city on fire.
20. 아이 사람들이 자기들의 뒤를 바라보며 보니, 보라, 도시의 연기가 하늘로 올라가더라. 그들이 힘을 잃어 이 길로도 저 길로도 도망할 수 없게 되었고 광야로 도망하던 백성은 추격하던 자들에게로 돌이켰더라. 20. And when the men of Ai looked behind them, they saw, and, behold, the smoke of the city ascended up to heaven, and they had no power to flee this way or that way: and the people that fled to the wilderness turned back upon the pursuers.
21. 복병들이 도시를 점령한 것과 도시의 연기가 올라가는 것을 여호수아와 온 이스라엘이 보고는 다시 돌아서서 아이 사람들을 죽였고 21. And when Joshua and all Israel saw that the ambush had taken the city, and that the smoke of the city ascended, then they turned again, and slew the men of Ai.
22. 다른 이들도 도시에서 나와 그들을 치매 이에 그들이 이스라엘의 한가운데 들게 되어 얼마는 이편에 얼마는 저편에 있었으므로 그들이 저들을 쳐서 저들 중의 한 사람도 남거나 도망하지 못하게 하고 22. And the other issued out of the city against them; so they were in the midst of Israel, some on this side, and some on that side: and they smote them, so that they let none of them remain or escape.
23. 아이 왕을 산 채로 사로잡아 여호수아에게로 끌어 왔더라. 23. And the king of Ai they took alive, and brought him to Joshua.
24. 이스라엘이 광야에서 자기들을 추격하던 아이의 모든 거주민을 들에서 죽이기를 마치고 그들이 소멸될 때까지 다 칼날에 쓰러지게 한 뒤에 모든 이스라엘 사람이 아이로 돌아와 칼날로 그것을 치매 24. And it came to pass, when Israel had made an end of slaying all the inhabitants of Ai in the field, in the wilderness wherein they chased them, and when they were all fallen on the edge of the sword, until they were consumed, that all the Israelites returned unto Ai, and smote it with the edge of the sword.
25. 그 날에 아이의 모든 사람이 쓰러졌는데 남자와 여자가 모두 만 이천 명이더라. 25. And so it was, that all that fell that day, both of men and women, were twelve thousand, even all the men of Ai.
26. 아이의 모든 거주민을 진멸할 때까지 여호수아가 손으로 창을 치켜들고 그 손을 거두지 아니하였더라. 26. For Joshua drew not his hand back, wherewith he stretched out the spear, until he had utterly destroyed all the inhabitants of Ai.
27. 이스라엘이 {주}께서 여호수아에게 명령하신 그분의 말씀대로 자기를 위하여 오직 가축과 그 도시에서 노략한 물건만 탈취물로 취하였더라. 27. Only the cattle and the spoil of that city Israel took for a prey unto themselves, according unto the word of the LORD which he commanded Joshua.
28. 또한 여호수아가 아이를 불태우고 그것을 영원토록 무더기로 황폐한 곳으로 만들어 이 날까지 이르게 하였으며 28. And Joshua burnt Ai, and made it an heap for ever, even a desolation unto this day.
29. 그가 또 아이 왕을 저녁때까지 나무에 매달았다가 해 질 때에 곧바로 명령하여 그들이 그의 사체를 나무에서 내려 도시의 문 어귀에 던지게 하고 그 위에 돌로 큰 무더기를 쌓았더니 그것이 이 날까지 남아 있느니라. 29. And the king of Ai he hanged on a tree until eventide: and as soon as the sun was down, Joshua commanded that they should take his carcase down from the tree, and cast it at the entering of the gate of the city, and raise thereon a great heap of stones, that remaineth unto this day.
30. ¶ 그때에 여호수아가 {주} 이스라엘의 하나님을 위해 에발 산에 제단 하나를 쌓았으니 30. ¶ Then Joshua built an altar unto the LORD God of Israel in mount Ebal,
31. 이것은 {주}의 종 모세가 이스라엘 자손에게 명령한 것과 모세의 율법 책에 기록된 대로 사람이 쇠를 대지 아니한 온전한 돌들로 만든 제단이더라. 그들이 {주}를 위해 그 위에 번제 헌물을 드리고 화평 헌물을 희생물로 드렸더라. 31. As Moses the servant of the LORD commanded the children of Israel, as it is written in the book of the law of Moses, an altar of whole stones, over which no man hath lift up any iron: and they offered thereon burnt offerings unto the LORD, and sacrificed peace offerings.
32. ¶ 그가 거기서 돌들 위에 모세의 율법 사본을 기록하였는데 그것은 그가 이스라엘 자손들 앞에서 기록한 것이더라. 32. ¶ And he wrote there upon the stones a copy of the law of Moses, which he wrote in the presence of the children of Israel.
33. 온 이스라엘과 그들의 장로들과 직무 수행자들과 그들의 재판관들이 {주}의 언약 궤를 멘 레위 사람 제사장들 앞에서 궤의 이쪽과 저쪽에 서되 그들 가운데서 태어난 자뿐 아니라 타국인까지 서니라. 그들의 절반은 그리심 산 맞은편에 서고 그들의 절반은 에발 산 맞은편에 섰으니 이것은 전에 {주}의 종 모세가 명령하여 그들이 이스라엘 백성을 축복하게 한 것과 같았더라. 33. And all Israel, and their elders, and officers, and their judges, stood on this side the ark and on that side before the priests the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, as well the stranger, as he that was born among them; half of them over against mount Gerizim, and half of them over against mount Ebal; as Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded before, that they should bless the people of Israel.
34. 그 뒤에 여호수아가 율법 책에 기록된 모든 것에 따라 율법의 모든 말씀 곧 복과 저주의 말씀을 낭독하였는데 34. And afterward he read all the words of the law, the blessings and cursings, according to all that is written in the book of the law.
35. 모세가 명령한 모든 것 중에서 여호수아가 이스라엘의 온 회중과 여인들과 어린것들과 그들 가운데 거하던 타국인들 앞에 낭독하지 아니한 말이 하나도 없었더라. 35. There was not a word of all that Moses commanded, which Joshua read not before all the congregation of Israel, with the women, and the little ones, and the strangers that were conversant among them.
1. 요르단 이편의 산지와 골짜기와 레바논 맞은편 대해의 온 지경에 있던 헷 족속과 아모리 족속과 가나안 족속과 브리스 족속과 히위 족속과 여부스 족속의 모든 왕이 그 일을 듣고 1. And it came to pass, when all the kings which were on this side Jordan, in the hills, and in the valleys, and in all the coasts of the great sea over against Lebanon, the Hittite, and the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, heard thereof;
2. 함께 모여 한마음으로 여호수아와 이스라엘과 싸우려 하더라. 2. That they gathered themselves together, to fight with Joshua and with Israel, with one accord.
3. ¶ 기브온 거주민들이 여호수아가 여리고와 아이에 행한 일을 듣고는 3. ¶ And when the inhabitants of Gibeon heard what Joshua had done unto Jericho and to Ai,
4. 교묘히 행하되 가서 마치 자기들이 사신인 것처럼 꾸미고 낡은 자루와 낡고 찢어져 꿰맨 포도즙 부대들을 나귀에 싣고 4. They did work wilily, and went and made as if they had been ambassadors, and took old sacks upon their asses, and wine bottles, old, and rent, and bound up;
5. 발에는 낡아서 기운 신을 신고 낡은 옷을 입고 마르고 곰팡이 난 모든 빵을 양식으로 예비하니라. 5. And old shoes and clouted upon their feet, and old garments upon them; and all the bread of their provision was dry and mouldy.
6. 그들이 길갈에 있던 진영으로 나아와 여호수아에게 이르러 그와 이스라엘 사람들에게 이르되, 우리는 먼 나라에서 왔나이다. 그러므로 이제 우리와 동맹을 맺으소서, 하매 6. And they went to Joshua unto the camp at Gilgal, and said unto him, and to the men of Israel, We be come from a far country: now therefore make ye a league with us.
7. 이스라엘 사람들이 히위 족속에게 이르되, 너희가 우리 가운데 거하는 듯하니 어찌 우리가 너희와 동맹을 맺을 수 있으랴? 하거늘 7. And the men of Israel said unto the Hivites, Peradventure ye dwell among us; and how shall we make a league with you?
8. 그들이 여호수아에게 이르되, 우리는 당신의 종들이니이다, 하매 여호수아가 그들에게 이르되, 너희는 누구냐? 너희는 어디에서 왔느냐? 하니 8. And they said unto Joshua, We are thy servants. And Joshua said unto them, Who are ye? and from whence come ye?
9. 그들이 그에게 이르되, 당신의 종들은 {주} 당신의 하나님의 이름으로 인하여 매우 먼 나라에서 왔나이다. 우리가 그분의 명성과 그분께서 이집트에서 행하신 모든 일에 관하여 들었으며 9. And they said unto him, From a very far country thy servants are come because of the name of the LORD thy God: for we have heard the fame of him, and all that he did in Egypt,
10. 또 그분께서 요르단 건너편에 있던 아모리 족속의 두 왕 곧 헤스본 왕 시혼과 아스다롯에 있던 바산 왕 옥에게 행하신 모든 일에 관하여 들었나이다. 10. And all that he did to the two kings of the Amorites, that were beyond Jordan, to Sihon king of Heshbon, and to Og king of Bashan, which was at Ashtaroth.
11. 그러므로 우리 장로들과 우리 나라의 모든 거주민들이 우리에게 말하여 이르되, 여행을 위해 양식을 취하고 가서 그들을 만나 그들에게 말하기를, 우리는 당신들의 종들이오니 그런즉 이제 우리와 동맹을 맺으소서, 하라, 하였나이다. 11. Wherefore our elders and all the inhabitants of our country spake to us, saying, Take victuals with you for the journey, and go to meet them, and say unto them, We are your servants: therefore now make ye a league with us.
12. 우리의 이 빵은 우리가 당신들에게로 오려고 떠나던 날에 우리의 집에서 뜨거운 것을 양식으로 취한 것인데, 보소서, 이제 그것이 마르고 곰팡이가 났으며 12. This our bread we took hot for our provision out of our houses on the day we came forth to go unto you; but now, behold, it is dry, and it is mouldy:
13. 또 우리가 포도즙을 담은 이 부대들도 새 것이었는데, 보소서, 그것들이 찢어졌으며 우리의 이 옷과 신도 매우 긴 여행으로 인해 낡아졌나이다, 하니라. 13. And these bottles of wine, which we filled, were new; and, behold, they be rent: and these our garments and our shoes are become old by reason of the very long journey.
14. 그 사람들이 그들의 양식을 취하고는 {주}의 입에서 조언을 구하지 아니하고 14. And the men took of their victuals, and asked not counsel at the mouth of the LORD.
15. 여호수아가 그들과 화친하며 그들과 동맹을 맺어 그들을 살게 하였고 회중의 통치자들이 그들에게 맹세하였더라. 15. And Joshua made peace with them, and made a league with them, to let them live: and the princes of the congregation sware unto them.
16. ¶ 그들이 그들과 동맹을 맺은 뒤 사흘이 지났을 때에 그들이 자기들의 이웃이요, 자기들 가운데 거하는 자들이라 함을 그들이 들었더라. 16. ¶ And it came to pass at the end of three days after they had made a league with them, that they heard that they were their neighbours, and that they dwelt among them.
17. 이스라엘 자손이 이동하여 셋째 날에 그들의 도시들에 이르렀는데 이제 그들의 도시들은 기브온과 그비라와 브에롯과 기럇여아림이더라. 17. And the children of Israel journeyed, and came unto their cities on the third day. Now their cities were Gibeon, and Chephirah, and Beeroth, and Kirjath-jearim.
18. 회중의 통치자들이 {주} 이스라엘의 하나님을 두고 그들에게 맹세하였으므로 이스라엘 자손이 그들을 치지 못하매 온 회중이 통치자들에게 불평하였으나 18. And the children of Israel smote them not, because the princes of the congregation had sworn unto them by the LORD God of Israel. And all the congregation murmured against the princes.
19. 모든 통치자들이 온 회중에게 이르되, 우리가 {주} 이스라엘의 하나님을 두고 그들에게 맹세하였으므로 이제 그들을 건드리지 못하리라. 19. But all the princes said unto all the congregation, We have sworn unto them by the LORD God of Israel: now therefore we may not touch them.
20. 우리가 그들에게 맹세한 맹약으로 인해 진노가 우리에게 임할까 염려하므로 우리가 그들에게 이와 같이 행하여 그들을 살리리라, 하고 20. This we will do to them; we will even let them live, lest wrath be upon us, because of the oath which we sware unto them.
21. 통치자들이 그들에게 이르되, 그들이 살 것이나 온 회중을 위하여 나무 패는 자와 물 긷는 자가 될지니라, 하니 이것은 통치자들이 그들에게 약속한 것과 같았더라. 21. And the princes said unto them, Let them live; but let them be hewers of wood and drawers of water unto all the congregation; as the princes had promised them.
22. ¶ 여호수아가 그들을 불러 그들에게 말하여 이르되, 너희가 우리 가운데 거하거늘 어찌하여 너희가 말하기를, 우리는 당신들에게서 매우 멀리 있나이다, 하여 우리를 속였느냐? 22. ¶ And Joshua called for them, and he spake unto them, saying, Wherefore have ye beguiled us, saying, We are very far from you; when ye dwell among us?
23. 그러므로 이제 너희가 저주를 받았나니 너희 중 아무도 노예가 되는 것과 내 하나님의 집을 위하여 나무 패는 자와 물 긷는 자가 되는 것에서 벗어나 자유롭게 되지 못하리라, 하매 23. Now therefore ye are cursed, and there shall none of you be freed from being bondmen, and hewers of wood and drawers of water for the house of my God.
24. 그들이 여호수아에게 응답하여 이르되, {주} 당신의 하나님께서 자신의 종 모세에게 명령하사 이 온 땅을 당신들에게 주시고 그 땅의 모든 거주민을 당신들 앞에서 멸하게 하신 것을 당신의 종들이 분명히 들었으므로 그런 까닭에 우리가 당신들로 인해 우리의 생명을 잃을까 심히 두려워하여 이 일을 행하였나이다. 24. And they answered Joshua, and said, Because it was certainly told thy servants, how that the LORD thy God commanded his servant Moses to give you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land from before you, therefore we were sore afraid of our lives because of you, and have done this thing.
25. 보소서, 이제 우리가 당신의 손에 있으니 당신이 보기에 좋고 옳은 대로 우리에게 행하고 행하소서, 하므로 25. And now, behold, we are in thine hand: as it seemeth good and right unto thee to do unto us, do.

27. 그 날에 여호수아가 회중을 위하며 또 {주}께서 택하시는 곳에 있을 그분의 제단을 위하여 이 날에 이르기까지 그들을 나무 패는 자와 물 긷는 자로 삼았더라. 27. And Joshua made them that day hewers of wood and drawers of water for the congregation, and for the altar of the LORD, even unto this day, in the place which he should choose.
1. 이제 예루살렘 왕 아도니세덱이 여호수아가 아이를 점령하여 진멸하되 여리고와 그것의 왕에게 행한 것 같이 아이와 그것의 왕에게 행하였다는 것과 또 기브온 거주민들이 이스라엘과 화친하여 그들 가운데 있다는 것을 들으니라. 1. Now it came to pass, when Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem had heard how Joshua had taken Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to Jericho and her king, so he had done to Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them;
2. 그때에 그들이 크게 두려워하였으니 이는 기브온이 왕가의 도시 중 하나같이 큰 도시요, 또 그것이 아이보다 크고 그것의 모든 사람들이 강하였기 때문이더라. 2. That they feared greatly, because Gibeon was a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all the men thereof were mighty.
3. 그러므로 예루살렘 왕 아도니세덱이 헤브론 왕 호함과 야르뭇 왕 비람과 라기스 왕 야비아와 에글론 왕 드빌에게 사람을 보내어 이르되, 3. Wherefore Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem sent unto Hoham king of Hebron, and unto Piram king of Jarmuth, and unto Japhia king of Lachish, and unto Debir king of Eglon, saying,
4. 내게로 올라와 나를 도우라. 기브온이 여호수아와 이스라엘 자손과 화친하였으니 우리가 그것을 치자, 하니라. 4. Come up unto me, and help me, that we may smite Gibeon: for it hath made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.
5. 그러므로 아모리 족속의 다섯 왕 곧 예루살렘 왕과 헤브론 왕과 야르뭇 왕과 라기스 왕과 에글론 왕이 함께 모여 자기들의 모든 군대를 거느리고 올라가 기브온 앞에 진을 치고 그것을 대적하여 싸우니라. 5. Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon, gathered themselves together, and went up, they and all their hosts, and encamped before Gibeon, and made war against it.
6. ¶ 기브온 사람들이 길갈의 진영에 있던 여호수아에게 사람을 보내어 이르되, 당신의 손을 늦추어 당신의 종들을 버려두지 마시고 속히 우리에게 올라와 우리를 구원하고 우리를 도우소서. 산지에 거하는 아모리 족속의 모든 왕들이 우리를 치려고 함께 모였나이다, 하매 6. ¶ And the men of Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Slack not thy hand from thy servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the mountains are gathered together against us.
7. 이에 여호수아가 싸울 수 있는 온 백성과 모든 강한 용사들과 함께 길갈에서 올라가니라. 7. So Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valour.
8. ¶ {주}께서 여호수아에게 이르시되, 그들을 두려워하지 말라. 내가 그들을 네 손에 넘겨주었나니 그들 중의 한 사람도 네 앞에 서지 못하리라, 하시니라. 8. ¶ And the LORD said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thine hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee.
9. 그러므로 여호수아가 길갈에서 밤새도록 올라가 그들에게 갑자기 임하니 9. Joshua therefore came unto them suddenly, and went up from Gilgal all night.
10. {주}께서 그들을 이스라엘 앞에서 무찌르시고 그들을 기브온에서 큰 살육으로 죽이시며 벧호론으로 올라가는 길에서 추격하사 아세가와 막게다에 이르기까지 그들을 치시니라. 10. And the LORD discomfited them before Israel, and slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them along the way that goeth up to Beth-horon, and smote them to Azekah, and unto Makkedah.
11. 그들이 이스라엘 앞에서 도망하여 벧호론으로 내려갈 때에 {주}께서 아세가에 이르기까지 하늘에서 큰 돌들을 그들 위에 내리시매 그들이 죽었는데 이스라엘 자손이 칼로 죽인 자보다 우박으로 죽은 자가 더 많았더라. 11. And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the going down to Beth-horon, that the LORD cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword.
12. ¶ 그때에 {주}께서 이스라엘 자손 앞에서 아모리 족속을 넘겨주시던 날에 여호수아가 {주}께 아뢰고 또 이스라엘의 눈앞에서 이르되, 해야, 너는 기브온 위에 멈추어 서라. 달아, 너도 아얄론 골짜기에서 그리할지어다, 하매 12. ¶ Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.
13. 해가 멈추어 서고 달이 멈추어서 마침내 백성이 자기 원수들에게 원수를 갚으니라. 이것이 야셀의 책에 기록되어 있지 아니하냐? 이와 같이 해가 하늘 한가운데 머물러 서고 거의 하루 동안 속히 내려가지 아니하였더라. 13. And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.
14. {주}께서 이와 같이 사람의 목소리에 귀를 기울이신 날은 그 전에도 없었고 그 후에도 없었으니 이는 {주}께서 이스라엘을 위하여 싸우셨기 때문이더라. 14. And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.
15. ¶ 여호수아가 온 이스라엘과 함께 길갈에 있던 진영으로 돌아왔더라. 15. ¶ And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal.
16. 그러나 이 다섯 왕이 도망하여 막게다의 굴에 숨었으므로 16. But these five kings fled, and hid themselves in a cave at Makkedah.
17. 어떤 이가 여호수아에게 고하여 이르되, 막게다의 굴에 그 다섯 왕이 숨은 것을 발견하였나이다, 하매 17. And it was told Joshua, saying, The five kings are found hid in a cave at Makkedah.
18. 여호수아가 이르되, 굴 어귀에 큰 돌들을 굴리고 사람들을 그것 옆에 두어 그들을 지키게 하며 18. And Joshua said, Roll great stones upon the mouth of the cave, and set men by it for to keep them:
19. 너희는 지체하지 말고 너희 원수들을 추격하여 그들의 후방을 쳐서 그들이 그들의 도시들에 들어가지 못하게 하라. {주} 너희 하나님께서 그들을 너희 손에 넘겨주셨느니라, 하니라. 19. And stay ye not, but pursue after your enemies, and smite the hindmost of them; suffer them not to enter into their cities: for the LORD your God hath delivered them into your hand.
20. 여호수아와 이스라엘 자손이 심히 큰 살육으로 그들을 죽이기를 마치매 마침내 그들이 소멸되었고 그들 중에서 남은 나머지 사람들은 성벽을 두른 도시들로 들어갔으므로 20. And it came to pass, when Joshua and the children of Israel had made an end of slaying them with a very great slaughter, till they were consumed, that the rest which remained of them entered into fenced cities.
21. 온 백성이 평안히 막게다에 있던 진영으로 돌아와 여호수아에게 이르렀더라. 혀를 놀려 이스라엘 자손 중 어느 누구를 대적하는 자가 없었더라. 21. And all the people returned to the camp to Joshua at Makkedah in peace: none moved his tongue against any of the children of Israel.
22. 그때에 여호수아가 이르되, 굴 어귀를 열고 굴에서 다섯 왕을 끌어내어 내게 데려오라, 하매 22. Then said Joshua, Open the mouth of the cave, and bring out those five kings unto me out of the cave.
23. 그들이 그대로 하여 굴에서 그 다섯 왕 곧 예루살렘 왕과 헤브론 왕과 야르뭇 왕과 라기스 왕과 에글론 왕을 끌어내어 그에게 데려오니라. 23. And they did so, and brought forth those five kings unto him out of the cave, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon.
24. 그들이 그 왕들을 여호수아에게로 끌어내매 여호수아가 이스라엘의 모든 사람을 부르고 자기와 함께 갔던 군사들의 대장들에게 이르되, 가까이 와서 이 왕들의 목을 발로 밟으라, 하니 그들이 가까이 와서 그들의 목을 밟으니라. 24. And it came to pass, when they brought out those kings unto Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said unto the captains of the men of war which went with him, Come near, put your feet upon the necks of these kings. And they came near, and put their feet upon the necks of them.
25. 여호수아가 그들에게 이르되, 두려워하지 말고 놀라지 말며 마음을 강하게 하고 크게 용기를 내라. 너희와 싸우는 너희의 모든 원수에게 {주}께서 이와 같이 하시리라, 하고 25. And Joshua said unto them, Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage: for thus shall the LORD do to all your enemies against whom ye fight.
26. 그 뒤에 여호수아가 그들을 쳐서 죽여 다섯 나무에 매달고 그들을 저녁때까지 나무에 매달아 두었다가 26. And afterward Joshua smote them, and slew them, and hanged them on five trees: and they were hanging upon the trees until the evening.
27. 해가 내려갈 때에 여호수아가 명령하매 그들이 그들을 나무에서 내려 그들이 숨었던 굴에 던지고 굴 어귀를 큰 돌들로 막았는데 그것들이 바로 이 날까지 남아 있느니라. 27. And it came to pass at the time of the going down of the sun, that Joshua commanded, and they took them down off the trees, and cast them into the cave wherein they had been hid, and laid great stones in the cave's mouth, which remain until this very day.
28. ¶ 그 날에 여호수아가 막게다를 빼앗고 칼날로 그것을 치며 그것의 왕과 그들을 쳤으며 그 안에 있던 모든 혼을 진멸하여 한 사람도 남기지 아니하였고 여리고 왕에게 행한 것 같이 막게다 왕에게 행하였더라. 28. ¶ And that day Joshua took Makkedah, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof he utterly destroyed, them, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain: and he did to the king of Makkedah as he did unto the king of Jericho.
29. 그때에 여호수아가 온 이스라엘과 함께 막게다를 지나 립나로 가서 립나와 싸우매 29. Then Joshua passed from Makkedah, and all Israel with him, unto Libnah, and fought against Libnah:
30. {주}께서 립나와 그것의 왕도 이스라엘의 손에 넘겨주셨으므로 그가 칼날로 그것과 그 안에 있던 모든 혼을 쳐서 한 사람도 그 안에 남기지 아니하였고 여리고 왕에게 행한 것 같이 그것의 왕에게 행하였더라. 30. And the LORD delivered it also, and the king thereof, into the hand of Israel; and he smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain in it; but did unto the king thereof as he did unto the king of Jericho.
31. ¶ 여호수아가 또 온 이스라엘과 함께 립나를 지나 라기스로 가서 그것을 치려고 진을 치고 그것과 싸웠는데 31. ¶ And Joshua passed from Libnah, and all Israel with him, unto Lachish, and encamped against it, and fought against it:
32. {주}께서 라기스를 이스라엘의 손에 넘겨주시므로 이스라엘이 둘째 날에 그것을 빼앗고 립나에 행한 모든 것대로 칼날로 그것과 그 안에 있던 모든 혼을 쳤더라. 32. And the LORD delivered Lachish into the hand of Israel, which took it on the second day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein, according to all that he had done to Libnah.
33. ¶ 그때에 게셀 왕 호람이 라기스를 도우려고 올라왔으므로 여호수아가 그와 그의 백성을 쳐서 마침내 한 사람도 그에게 남기지 아니하였더라. 33. ¶ Then Horam king of Gezer came up to help Lachish; and Joshua smote him and his people, until he had left him none remaining.
34. ¶ 여호수아가 또 온 이스라엘과 함께 라기스를 지나 에글론으로 가니라. 그들이 그것을 치려고 진을 치고 그것과 싸워 34. ¶ And from Lachish Joshua passed unto Eglon, and all Israel with him; and they encamped against it, and fought against it:
35. 그 날에 그것을 빼앗고 라기스에 행한 모든 것대로 칼날로 그것을 쳐서 그 안에 있던 모든 혼을 그 날에 진멸하였더라. 35. And they took it on that day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein he utterly destroyed that day, according to all that he had done to Lachish.
36. 여호수아가 또 온 이스라엘과 함께 에글론에서부터 헤브론으로 올라가서 그것과 싸워 36. And Joshua went up from Eglon, and all Israel with him, unto Hebron; and they fought against it:
37. 그것을 빼앗고 그것과 그것의 왕과 그것의 모든 도시들과 그 안에 있던 모든 혼을 칼날로 쳐서 에글론에 행한 모든 것대로 한 사람도 남기지 아니하였으며 그것과 그 안에 있던 모든 혼을 진멸하였더라. 37. And they took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof, and all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining, according to all that he had done to Eglon; but destroyed it utterly, and all the souls that were therein.
38. ¶ 여호수아가 온 이스라엘과 함께 돌아와서 드빌에 이르러 그것과 싸워 38. ¶ And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to Debir; and fought against it:
39. 그것과 그것의 왕과 그것의 모든 도시들을 빼앗고 칼날로 그들을 쳐서 그 안에 있던 모든 혼을 진멸하고 한 사람도 남기지 아니하였으니 그가 헤브론에 행한 것처럼 드빌과 그것의 왕에게 행하였으며 또 립나와 그것의 왕에게 행한 것처럼 행하였더라. 39. And he took it, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof; and they smote them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining: as he had done to Hebron, so he did to Debir, and to the king thereof; as he had done also to Libnah, and to her king.
40. ¶ 이처럼 여호수아가 {주} 이스라엘의 하나님께서 명령하신 대로 산지와 남쪽과 골짜기와 샘들이 있는 모든 지방과 그것들의 모든 왕을 쳐서 한 사람도 남기지 아니하고 숨 쉬는 모든 자를 진멸하였더라. 40. ¶ So Joshua smote all the country of the hills, and of the south, and of the vale, and of the springs, and all their kings: he left none remaining, but utterly destroyed all that breathed, as the LORD God of Israel commanded.
41. 여호수아가 가데스바네아에서부터 가자에 이르기까지 그들을 치고 또 기브온에 이르기까지 고센의 모든 지방을 치매 41. And Joshua smote them from Kadesh-barnea even unto Gaza, and all the country of Goshen, even unto Gibeon.
42. {주} 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이스라엘을 위하여 싸우셨으므로 여호수아가 이 모든 왕들과 그들의 땅을 한 번에 빼앗으니라. 42. And all these kings and their land did Joshua take at one time, because the LORD God of Israel fought for Israel.
43. 여호수아가 온 이스라엘을 거느리고 길갈에 있던 진영으로 돌아왔더라. 43. And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal.
1. 하솔 왕 야빈이 그 일들에 대하여 듣고 마돈 왕 요밥과 시므론 왕과 악삽 왕과 1. And it came to pass, when Jabin king of Hazor had heard those things, that he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph,
2. 또 산지의 북쪽과 긴네롯 남쪽의 평야와 골짜기와 서쪽으로 도르의 경계에 있던 왕들과 2. And to the kings that were on the north of the mountains, and of the plains south of Chinneroth, and in the valley, and in the borders of Dor on the west,
3. 동쪽과 서쪽의 가나안 족속과 아모리 족속과 헷 족속과 브리스 족속과 산지의 여부스 족속과 미스바 땅의 헤르몬 밑에 거하던 히위 족속에게 사람을 보내매 3. And to the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and to the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the mountains, and to the Hivite under Hermon in the land of Mizpeh.
4. 그들이 자기들의 모든 군대를 거느리고 나왔는데 사람이 많아 해변의 수많은 모래 같고 말과 병거도 매우 많았더라. 4. And they went out, they and all their hosts with them, much people, even as the sand that is upon the sea shore in multitude, with horses and chariots very many.
5. 이 모든 왕들이 함께 만나서 이스라엘과 싸우려고 나아와 메롬 물가에 함께 진을 쳤더라. 5. And when all these kings were met together, they came and pitched together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel.
6. ¶ {주}께서 여호수아에게 이르시되, 그들로 인하여 두려워하지 말라. 내일 이맘때에 내가 그들을 이스라엘 앞에 넘겨주어 다 죽게 하리니 너는 그들의 말들의 다리 힘줄을 끊고 그들의 병거들을 불로 태우라, 하시니라. 6. ¶ And the LORD said unto Joshua, Be not afraid because of them: for to morrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou shalt hough their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.
7. 이에 여호수아가 싸울 수 있는 온 백성을 거느리고 메롬 물가에 있던 그들을 치려고 갑자기 와서 그들을 덮치거늘 7. So Joshua came, and all the people of war with him, against them by the waters of Merom suddenly; and they fell upon them.
8. {주}께서 그들을 이스라엘의 손에 넘겨주셨으므로 이스라엘이 그들을 치고 큰 시돈과 미스레봇마임까지 추격하며 동쪽으로는 미스바 골짜기까지 추격하여 그들 중에서 하나도 남지 않을 때까지 그들을 치니라. 8. And the LORD delivered them into the hand of Israel, who smote them, and chased them unto great Zidon, and unto Misrephoth-maim, and unto the valley of Mizpeh eastward; and they smote them, until they left them none remaining.
9. 여호수아가 {주}께서 자기에게 명령하신 대로 행하여 그들의 말들의 다리 힘줄을 끊고 그들의 병거들을 불로 태웠더라. 9. And Joshua did unto them as the LORD bade him: he houghed their horses, and burnt their chariots with fire.
10. ¶ 하솔이 예전에는 그 모든 왕국들의 머리였으므로 그때에 여호수아가 돌아와 하솔을 빼앗고 그것의 왕을 칼로 치니라. 10. ¶ And Joshua at that time turned back, and took Hazor, and smote the king thereof with the sword: for Hazor beforetime was the head of all those kingdoms.
11. 그들이 그 안에 있던 모든 혼을 칼날로 쳐서 진멸하여 숨 쉬는 자는 하나도 남기지 아니하였고 또 그가 하솔을 불태웠으며 11. And they smote all the souls that were therein with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them: there was not any left to breathe: and he burnt Hazor with fire.
12. 또 여호수아가 그 왕들의 모든 도시와 그것들의 모든 왕을 붙잡아 칼날로 쳐서 진멸하되 {주}의 종 모세가 명령한 것과 같이 하니라. 12. And all the cities of those kings, and all the kings of them, did Joshua take, and smote them with the edge of the sword, and he utterly destroyed them, as Moses the servant of the LORD commanded.
13. 그러나 여전히 튼튼하게 서 있던 도시들로 말하건대 여호수아가 불태운 하솔을 빼고는 이스라엘이 그 도시들 중의 하나도 불태우지 아니하였으며 13. But as for the cities that stood still in their strength, Israel burned none of them, save Hazor only; that did Joshua burn.
14. 이 도시들에서 취한 모든 노략물과 가축은 이스라엘 자손이 자기들을 위해 탈취물로 취하였으나 모든 사람은 칼날로 쳐서 마침내 그들을 멸하여 숨 쉬는 자를 하나도 남기지 아니하였더라. 14. And all the spoil of these cities, and the cattle, the children of Israel took for a prey unto themselves; but every man they smote with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, neither left they any to breathe.
15. ¶ {주}께서 자신의 종 모세에게 명령하신 대로 모세는 여호수아에게 명령하였고 여호수아는 그대로 행하여 {주}께서 모세에게 명령하신 모든 것 중에서 그가 행하지 않은 채 남겨 둔 것이 하나도 없었더라. 15. ¶ As the LORD commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD commanded Moses.
16. 이와 같이 여호수아가 그 온 땅과 산지와 온 남쪽 지방과 고센의 온 땅과 골짜기와 평야와 이스라엘의 산과 바로 그 산의 골짜기를 점령하였으니 16. So Joshua took all that land, the hills, and all the south country, and all the land of Goshen, and the valley, and the plain, and the mountain of Israel, and the valley of the same;
17. 곧 세일에 이르는 할락 산에서부터 헤르몬 산 밑 레바논 골짜기의 바알갓까지라. 그가 그들의 모든 왕들을 잡아 쳐서 죽였으며 17. Even from the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir, even unto Baal-gad in the valley of Lebanon under mount Hermon: and all their kings he took, and smote them, and slew them.
18. 여호수아가 그 모든 왕들과 오랫동안 싸웠더라. 18. Joshua made war a long time with all those kings.
19. 기브온 거주민들인 히위 족속 외에는 이스라엘 자손과 화친한 도시가 하나도 없었으며 다른 모든 도시들은 그들이 싸워 점령하였으니 19. There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, save the Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon: all other they took in battle.
20. 이는 그들이 이스라엘을 대적하여 싸우러 오게 하려고 {주}께서 그들의 마음을 강퍅하게 하셨기 때문이라. 이것은 그분께서 그들을 진멸하사 그들이 호의를 입지 못하게 하려 하심이요, 또 {주}께서 모세에게 명령하신 대로 그들을 멸하려 하심이더라. 20. For it was of the LORD to harden their hearts, that they should come against Israel in battle, that he might destroy them utterly, and that they might have no favour, but that he might destroy them, as the LORD commanded Moses.
21. ¶ 그때에 여호수아가 가서 산지와 헤브론과 드빌과 아납과 유다의 온 산지와 이스라엘의 온 산지에서 아낙 족속을 멸절시켰는데 여호수아가 그들의 도시들과 함께 그들을 진멸하였으므로 21. ¶ And at that time came Joshua, and cut off the Anakims from the mountains, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of Israel: Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities.
22. 이스라엘 자손의 땅에는 아낙 족속 중에서 남은 자가 하나도 없었고 가자와 가드와 아스돗에만 남았더라. 22. There was none of the Anakims left in the land of the children of Israel: only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, there remained.
23. 이와 같이 여호수아가 {주}께서 모세에게 말씀하신 모든 것에 따라 그 온 땅을 점령하여 이스라엘 지파들의 배분에 따라 이스라엘에게 상속 재산으로 주었더니 그 땅에 전쟁이 그쳤더라. 23. So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.
1. 이스라엘 자손이 해 돋는 요르단 저편 땅 곧 아르논 강에서부터 헤르몬 산까지의 땅과 동쪽의 모든 평야에서 왕들을 쳐서 그들의 땅을 소유하였는데 이제 그 땅의 왕들은 이러하니라. 1. Now these are the kings of the land, which the children of Israel smote, and possessed their land on the other side Jordan toward the rising of the sun, from the river Arnon unto mount Hermon, and all the plain on the east:
2. 헤스본에 거하던 아모리 족속의 왕 시혼이라. 그가 아르논 강둑에 있는 아로엘과 강의 중간과 길르앗의 절반에서부터 암몬 자손의 경계인 얍복 강까지 다스렸으며 2. Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt in Heshbon, and ruled from Aroer, which is upon the bank of the river Arnon, and from the middle of the river, and from half Gilead, even unto the river Jabbok, which is the border of the children of Ammon;
3. 또 동쪽의 긴네롯 바다에 이르는 평야에서부터 평야의 바다 곧 동쪽의 염해와 벧여시못으로 가는 길까지와 남쪽에서부터 아스돗비스가 밑에까지 다스렸더라. 3. And from the plain to the sea of Chinneroth on the east, and unto the sea of the plain, even the salt sea on the east, the way to Beth-jeshimoth; and from the south, under Ashdoth-pisgah:
4. ¶ 또 거인들 중의 남은 자들에 속한 자로서 아스다롯과 에드레이에 거하던 바산 왕 옥의 지경이라. 4. ¶ And the coast of Og king of Bashan, which was of the remnant of the giants, that dwelt at Ashtaroth and at Edrei,
5. 그가 그술 족속과 마아가 족속의 경계에 이르기까지 헤르몬 산과 살가와 온 바산에서 통치하였으며 또 헤스본 왕 시혼의 경계인 길르앗의 절반을 통치하였더라. 5. And reigned in mount Hermon, and in Salcah, and in all Bashan, unto the border of the Geshurites and the Maachathites, and half Gilead, the border of Sihon king of Heshbon.
6. {주}의 종 모세와 이스라엘 자손이 그들을 치고 {주}의 종 모세가 그 땅을 르우벤 족속과 갓 족속과 므낫세 반 지파에게 소유로 주었더라. 6. Them did Moses the servant of the LORD and the children of Israel smite: and Moses the servant of the LORD gave it for a possession unto the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh.
7. ¶ 여호수아와 이스라엘 자손이 요르단 이편 곧 서쪽에 있는 레바논 골짜기의 바알갓에서부터 세일에 이르는 할락 산까지의 지역을 쳐서 멸한 왕들은 이러하니라. 여호수아가 이 지역을 이스라엘 지파들의 배분에 따라 그들에게 소유로 주었으니 7. ¶ And these are the kings of the country which Joshua and the children of Israel smote on this side Jordan on the west, from Baal-gad in the valley of Lebanon even unto the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir; which Joshua gave unto the tribes of Israel for a possession according to their divisions;
8. 곧 산지와 골짜기와 평야와 샘과 광야와 남쪽 지방 즉 헷 족속과 아모리 족속과 가나안 족속과 브리스 족속과 히위 족속과 여부스 족속의 땅이라. 8. In the mountains, and in the valleys, and in the plains, and in the springs, and in the wilderness, and in the south country; the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites:
9. ¶ 하나는 여리고 왕이요, 하나는 벧엘 옆에 있는 아이 왕이요, 9. ¶ The king of Jericho, one; the king of Ai, which is beside Beth-el, one;
10. 하나는 예루살렘 왕이요, 하나는 헤브론 왕이요, 10. The king of Jerusalem, one; the king of Hebron, one;
11. 하나는 야르뭇 왕이요, 하나는 라기스 왕이요, 11. The king of Jarmuth, one; the king of Lachish, one;
12. 하나는 에글론 왕이요, 하나는 게셀 왕이요, 12. The king of Eglon, one; the king of Gezer, one;
13. 하나는 드빌 왕이요, 하나는 게델 왕이요, 13. The king of Debir, one; the king of Geder, one;
14. 하나는 호르마 왕이요, 하나는 아랏 왕이요, 14. The king of Hormah, one; the king of Arad, one;
15. 하나는 립나 왕이요, 하나는 아둘람 왕이요, 15. The king of Libnah, one; the king of Adullam, one;
16. 하나는 막게다 왕이요, 하나는 벧엘 왕이요, 16. The king of Makkedah, one; the king of Beth-el, one;
17. 하나는 답부아 왕이요, 하나는 헤벨 왕이요, 17. The king of Tappuah, one; the king of Hepher, one;
18. 하나는 아벡 왕이요, 하나는 라사론 왕이요, 18. The king of Aphek, one; the king of Lasharon, one;
19. 하나는 마돈 왕이요, 하나는 하솔 왕이요, 19. The king of Madon, one; the king of Hazor, one;
20. 하나는 시므론메론 왕이요, 하나는 악삽 왕이요, 20. The king of Shimron-meron, one; the king of Achshaph, one;
21. 하나는 다아낙 왕이요, 하나는 므깃도 왕이요, 21. The king of Taanach, one; the king of Megiddo, one;
22. 하나는 게데스 왕이요, 하나는 갈멜의 욕느암 왕이요, 22. The king of Kedesh, one; the king of Jokneam of Carmel, one;
23. 하나는 도르의 지경에 있는 도르 왕이요, 하나는 길갈의 민족들의 왕이요, 23. The king of Dor in the coast of Dor, one; the king of the nations of Gilgal, one;
24. 하나는 디르사 왕이라. 모두 서른한 명의 왕이더라. 24. The king of Tirzah, one: all the kings thirty and one.
1. 이제 여호수아가 나이 많아 늙으매 {주}께서 그에게 이르시되, 네가 나이 많아 늙었으나 소유할 땅이 아직 심히 많이 남아 있도다. 1. Now Joshua was old and stricken in years; and the LORD said unto him, Thou art old and stricken in years, and there remaineth yet very much land to be possessed.
2. 아직 남은 땅은 이러하니 곧 블레셋 사람들의 온 경계와 온 그술 2. This is the land that yet remaineth: all the borders of the Philistines, and all Geshuri,
3. 즉 이집트 앞의 시홀에서부터 가나안 족속에게 속한 북쪽의 에그론의 경계까지와 블레셋 사람들의 다섯 귀족 곧 가자 사람과 아스돗 사람과 에스갈론 사람과 가드 사람과 에그론 사람과 또 아비 사람의 땅과 3. From Sihor, which is before Egypt, even unto the borders of Ekron northward, which is counted to the Canaanite: five lords of the Philistines; the Gazathites, and the Ashdothites, the Eshkalonites, the Gittites, and the Ekronites; also the Avites:
4. 남쪽에서부터는 가나안 족속의 온 땅과 시돈 사람들 옆의 므아라와 아모리 족속의 지경인 아벡까지와 4. From the south, all the land of the Canaanites, and Mearah that is beside the Sidonians, unto Aphek, to the borders of the Amorites:
5. 또 그발 족속의 땅과 해 뜨는 쪽의 온 레바논 곧 헤르몬 산 밑의 바알갓에서부터 하맛의 입구까지와 5. And the land of the Giblites, and all Lebanon, toward the sunrising, from Baal-gad under mount Hermon unto the entering into Hamath.
6. 또 레바논에서부터 미스레봇마임까지의 산간 지방의 모든 거주민과 모든 시돈 사람의 땅이라. 내가 그들을 이스라엘 자손 앞에서 쫓아내리니 너는 내가 네게 명령한 대로 그 땅을 이스라엘 사람들에게 제비뽑아 나누어 상속 재산으로 주라. 6. All the inhabitants of the hill country from Lebanon unto Misrephoth-maim, and all the Sidonians, them will I drive out from before the children of Israel: only divide thou it by lot unto the Israelites for an inheritance, as I have commanded thee.
7. 그러므로 이제 이 땅을 아홉 지파와 므낫세 반 지파에게 나누어 상속 재산으로 주라, 하셨더라. 7. Now therefore divide this land for an inheritance unto the nine tribes, and the half tribe of Manasseh,
8. 므낫세 반 지파와 함께 르우벤 족속과 갓 족속은 요르단 건너편 동쪽에서 모세로부터 자기들의 상속 재산을 받았는데 {주}의 종 모세가 그들에게 준 것이 이러하니라. 8. With whom the Reubenites and the Gadites have received their inheritance, which Moses gave them, beyond Jordan eastward, even as Moses the servant of the LORD gave them;
9. 곧 아르논 강둑에 있는 아로엘에서부터 강의 중간에 있는 도시와 디본에까지 이르는 메드바의 온 평야와 9. From Aroer, that is upon the bank of the river Arnon, and the city that is in the midst of the river, and all the plain of Medeba unto Dibon;
10. 헤스본에서 통치하던 아모리 족속의 왕 시혼의 모든 도시 즉 암몬 자손의 경계에까지 이른 도시들과 10. And all the cities of Sihon king of the Amorites, which reigned in Heshbon, unto the border of the children of Ammon;
11. 길르앗과 또 그술 족속과 마아가 족속의 지경과 온 헤르몬 산과 살가까지의 온 바산 11. And Gilead, and the border of the Geshurites and Maachathites, and all mount Hermon, and all Bashan unto Salcah;
12. 곧 거인들의 남은 자들 중에서 남아 있던 자로서 아스다롯과 에드레이에서 통치한 자 곧 바산에 있던 옥의 온 왕국이니 모세가 이들을 쳐서 쫓아내었더라. 12. All the kingdom of Og in Bashan, which reigned in Ashtaroth and in Edrei, who remained of the remnant of the giants: for these did Moses smite, and cast them out.
13. 그럼에도 불구하고 그술 족속과 마아가 족속은 이스라엘 자손이 쫓아내지 아니하였으므로 그술 족속과 마아가 족속이 이 날까지 이스라엘 사람들 가운데 거하느니라. 13. Nevertheless the children of Israel expelled not the Geshurites, nor the Maachathites: but the Geshurites and the Maachathites dwell among the Israelites until this day.
14. 오직 레위 지파에게는 그가 상속 재산을 주지 아니하였고 불로 예비하여 {주} 이스라엘의 하나님께 드리는 희생물이 그들의 상속 재산이 되었으니 그분께서 그들에게 말씀하신 것과 같았더라. 14. Only unto the tribe of Levi he gave none inheritance; the sacrifices of the LORD God of Israel made by fire are their inheritance, as he said unto them.
15. ¶ 모세가 르우벤 자손의 지파에게 그들의 가족대로 상속 재산을 주었는데 15. ¶ And Moses gave unto the tribe of the children of Reuben inheritance according to their families.
16. 그들의 지경은 아르논 강둑에 있는 아로엘에서부터 강의 중간에 있는 도시와 메드바 옆에 있는 온 평야와 16. And their coast was from Aroer, that is on the bank of the river Arnon, and the city that is in the midst of the river, and all the plain by Medeba;
17. 헤스본과 평야에 있는 그것의 모든 도시 곧 디본과 바못바알과 벧바알므온과 17. Heshbon, and all her cities that are in the plain; Dibon, and Bamoth-baal, and Beth-baal-meon,
18. 야하사와 그데못과 메바앗과 18. And Jahazah, and Kedemoth, and Mephaath,
19. 기랴다임과 십마와 골짜기의 산에 있는 사렛사할과 19. And Kirjathaim, and Sibmah, and Zareth-shahar in the mount of the valley,
20. 벧브올과 아스돗비스가와 벧여시못과 20. And Beth-peor, and Ashdoth-pisgah, and Beth-jeshimoth,
21. 평야의 모든 도시와 헤스본에서 통치한 아모리 족속의 왕 시혼의 온 왕국이더라. 모세가 시혼을 치면서 그 지역에 거하던 시혼의 추장들 곧 미디안의 통치자들인 에비와 레겜과 수르와 훌과 레바를 함께 쳤더라. 21. And all the cities of the plain, and all the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, which reigned in Heshbon, whom Moses smote with the princes of Midian, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, which were dukes of Sihon, dwelling in the country.
22. ¶ 이스라엘 자손이 그들을 죽일 때에 브올의 아들 점쟁이 발람도 그 죽은 자들 가운데서 칼에 맞아 죽었더라. 22. ¶ Balaam also the son of Beor, the soothsayer, did the children of Israel slay with the sword among them that were slain by them.
23. 르우벤 자손의 경계는 요르단과 그것의 경계니 이것은 르우벤 자손의 상속 재산으로서 그들의 가족대로 받은 도시들과 그것들의 마을들이더라. 23. And the border of the children of Reuben was Jordan, and the border thereof. This was the inheritance of the children of Reuben after their families, the cities and the villages thereof.
24. 모세가 갓 지파 곧 갓 자손에게도 그들의 가족대로 상속 재산을 주었는데 24. And Moses gave inheritance unto the tribe of Gad, even unto the children of Gad according to their families.
25. 그들의 지경은 야셀과 길르앗의 모든 도시와 암몬 자손의 땅의 절반 즉 랍바 앞의 아로엘까지와 25. And their coast was Jazer, and all the cities of Gilead, and half the land of the children of Ammon, unto Aroer that is before Rabbah;
26. 헤스본에서부터 라맛미스바와 브도님까지와 마하나임에서부터 드빌의 경계까지와 26. And from Heshbon unto Ramath-mizpeh, and Betonim; and from Mahanaim unto the border of Debir;
27. 골짜기에 있는 벧아람과 벧니므라와 숙곳과 사본 즉 헤스본 왕 시혼의 왕국의 남은 땅인 요르단과 그것의 경계에서부터 동쪽으로 요르단 저쪽의 긴네렛 바다의 끝단까지더라. 27. And in the valley, Beth-aram, and Beth-nimrah, and Succoth, and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon, Jordan and his border, even unto the edge of the sea of Chinnereth on the other side Jordan eastward.
28. 이것은 갓 자손의 상속 재산으로서 그들의 가족대로 받은 도시들과 그것들의 마을들이니라. 28. This is the inheritance of the children of Gad after their families, the cities, and their villages.
29. ¶ 또 모세가 므낫세 반 지파에게 상속 재산을 주었는데 므낫세 자손의 반 지파가 그들의 가족대로 받은 소유는 이러하니라. 29. ¶ And Moses gave inheritance unto the half tribe of Manasseh: and this was the possession of the half tribe of the children of Manasseh by their families.
30. 그들의 지경은 마하나임에서부터 온 바산 즉 바산 왕 옥의 온 왕국과 바산에 있는 야일의 모든 고을 곧 예순 개 도시들이며 30. And their coast was from Mahanaim, all Bashan, all the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, and all the towns of Jair, which are in Bashan, threescore cities:
31. 길르앗 절반과 바산에 있는 옥의 왕국에 속한 도시 아스다롯과 에드레이는 므낫세의 아들 마길의 자손에게 속하되 곧 그들의 가족대로 마길의 자손 절반에게 속하니라. 31. And half Gilead, and Ashtaroth, and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan, were pertaining unto the children of Machir the son of Manasseh, even to the one half of the children of Machir by their families.
32. 여리고 옆 즉 동쪽으로 요르단 저편에 있는 모압 평야에서 모세가 상속 재산으로 분배한 지역들이 이와 같았으나 32. These are the countries which Moses did distribute for inheritance in the plains of Moab, on the other side Jordan, by Jericho, eastward.
33. 오직 레위 지파에게는 모세가 아무 상속 재산도 주지 아니하였으니 {주} 이스라엘의 하나님께서 그들에게 말씀하신 것과 같이 그분께서 그들의 상속 재산이셨더라. 33. But unto the tribe of Levi Moses gave not any inheritance: the LORD God of Israel was their inheritance, as he said unto them.
1. 이스라엘 자손이 가나안 땅에서 상속한 지역 곧 제사장 엘르아살과 눈의 아들 여호수아와 이스라엘 자손 지파들의 아버지들의 우두머리들이 그들에게 상속 재산으로 분배한 지역은 이러하니라. 1. And these are the countries which the children of Israel inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed for inheritance to them.
2. {주}께서 모세의 손으로 명령하신 대로 그들의 상속 재산을 제비뽑아 아홉 지파와 반 지파에게 주었으니 2. By lot was their inheritance, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes, and for the half tribe.
3. 이는 모세가 요르단 저편에서 두 지파와 반 지파의 상속 재산을 주었기 때문이더라. 그러나 그가 그들 가운데서 레위 사람들에게는 상속 재산을 주지 아니하였으니 3. For Moses had given the inheritance of two tribes and an half tribe on the other side Jordan: but unto the Levites he gave none inheritance among them.
4. 이는 요셉의 자손이 므낫세와 에브라임의 두 지파가 되었기 때문이라. 그러므로 그들이 그 땅에서 레위 사람들에게 아무 몫도 주지 아니하고 다만 그들이 거하며 그들의 가축과 재물을 둘 도시들과 그것들의 주변 지역만 주었으니 4. For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim: therefore they gave no part unto the Levites in the land, save cities to dwell in, with their suburbs for their cattle and for their substance.
5. 이와 같이 이스라엘 자손이 {주}께서 모세에게 명령하신 것과 같이 행하여 그 땅을 나누었더라. 5. As the LORD commanded Moses, so the children of Israel did, and they divided the land.
6. ¶ 그때에 유다 자손이 길갈에 있던 여호수아에게 나아오고 그나스 족속 여분네의 아들 갈렙이 여호수아에게 이르되, {주}께서 가데스바네아에서 나와 당신에 관하여 하나님의 사람 모세에게 말씀하신 일을 당신이 아시나이다. 6. ¶ Then the children of Judah came unto Joshua in Gilgal: and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite said unto him, Thou knowest the thing that the LORD said unto Moses the man of God concerning me and thee in Kadesh-barnea.
7. {주}의 종 모세가 가데스바네아에서 나를 보내어 그 땅을 정탐하게 하였을 때에 내가 사십 세였고 내가 내 마음속에 있는 대로 그에게 말을 다시 전하였나이다. 7. Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh-barnea to espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart.
8. 그럼에도 불구하고 나와 함께 올라간 내 형제들은 백성의 마음을 녹게 하였으나 나는 온전히 {주} 내 하나님을 따랐으므로 8. Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the LORD my God.
9. 그 날에 모세가 맹세하여 이르되, 네가 온전히 {주} 내 하나님을 따랐은즉 네 발로 밟은 땅은 반드시 영원토록 너와 네 자손의 상속 재산이 되리라, 하였나이다. 9. And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children's for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the LORD my God.
10. 이제, 보소서, {주}께서 이 말씀을 모세에게 하신 때로부터 이스라엘 자손이 광야에서 방황한 이 사십오 년 동안 {주}께서 말씀하신 대로 나를 살아남게 하셨나이다. 이제, 보소서, 이 날 내가 팔십오 세로되 10. And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the LORD spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.
11. 모세가 나를 보낸 날과 마찬가지로 이 날 내가 강건하니 내 힘이 그때나 지금이나 동일하여 내가 싸우기 위해 나가고 들어올 수 있나이다. 11. As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.
12. 그러므로 이제 그 날 {주}께서 말씀하신 이 산을 내게 주소서. 거기에 아낙 족속이 있었으며 그 도시들이 크고 성벽으로 둘린 것을 당신도 그 날 들으셨나이다. 그러나 {주}께서 나와 함께하시면 {주}께서 말씀하신 대로 내가 능히 그들을 쫓아내리이다, 하매 12. Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said.
13. 여호수아가 여분네의 아들 갈렙을 축복하고 헤브론을 그에게 주어 상속 재산으로 삼게 하니라. 13. And Joshua blessed him, and gave unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh Hebron for an inheritance.
14. 그러므로 헤브론이 그나스 족속 여분네의 아들 갈렙의 상속 재산이 되어 이 날까지 이르렀으니 이는 그가 온전히 {주} 이스라엘의 하나님을 따랐기 때문이더라. 14. Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite unto this day, because that he wholly followed the LORD God of Israel.
15. 전에 헤브론의 이름은 기럇아르바였는데 이 아르바는 아낙 족속 가운데 위대한 자였더라. 그 땅에 전쟁이 그치고 안식이 있더라. 15. And the name of Hebron before was Kirjath-arba; which Arba was a great man among the Anakims. And the land had rest from war.
1. 그때에 유다 자손의 지파가 그들의 가족대로 제비뽑은 것은 이러하니 곧 남쪽 지경의 맨 끝 부분은 남쪽으로 신 광야, 에돔의 경계까지더라. 1. This then was the lot of the tribe of the children of Judah by their families; even to the border of Edom the wilderness of Zin southward was the uttermost part of the south coast.
2. 그들의 남쪽 경계는 염해의 해안과 남쪽을 바라보는 만(灣)에서부터 2. And their south border was from the shore of the salt sea, from the bay that looketh southward:
3. 남쪽 편으로 나아가 마알레아그랍빔에 이르고 신을 지나 남쪽 편에서 가데스바네아로 올라가 헤스론을 지나며 아달로 올라가서 돌이켜 갈가에 이르고 3. And it went out to the south side to Maaleh-acrabbim, and passed along to Zin, and ascended up on the south side unto Kadesh-barnea, and passed along to Hezron, and went up to Adar, and fetched a compass to Karkaa:
4. 거기서 아스몬 쪽으로 나아가 이집트의 강까지 나가며 그 지경이 나가서 바다에 이르렀나니 이것이 너희의 남쪽 지경이 되리라. 4. From thence it passed toward Azmon, and went out unto the river of Egypt; and the goings out of that coast were at the sea: this shall be your south coast.
5. 동쪽 경계는 염해니 곧 요르단 끝까지요, 북부 지역에 있는 그들의 경계는 요르단 맨 끝 부분 바다의 만(灣)에서부터니 5. And the east border was the salt sea, even unto the end of Jordan. And their border in the north quarter was from the bay of the sea at the uttermost part of Jordan:
6. 그 경계가 벧호글라로 올라가 벧아라바 북쪽을 지나 르우벤의 아들 보한의 돌이 있는 곳으로 올라가고 6. And the border went up to Beth-hogla, and passed along by the north of Beth-arabah; and the border went up to the stone of Bohan the son of Reuben:
7. 또 아골 골짜기에서부터 드빌 쪽으로 올라가되 이같이 북쪽으로 올라가서 그 강의 남쪽 편에 위치한 아둠밈 비탈 앞쪽의 길갈을 향하였더라. 또 그 경계가 엔세메스 물들 쪽으로 가서 더 나아가 엔로겔에 이르며 7. And the border went up toward Debir from the valley of Achor, and so northward, looking toward Gilgal, that is before the going up to Adummim, which is on the south side of the river: and the border passed toward the waters of En-shemesh, and the goings out thereof were at En-rogel:
8. 또 힌놈의 아들의 골짜기로 올라가서 여부스 족속의 남쪽 편에 이르렀는데 바로 그곳은 예루살렘이니라. 그 경계가 또 힌놈의 골짜기 앞에 서쪽으로 놓인 산의 꼭대기로 올라갔는데 이곳은 북쪽으로 거인들의 골짜기의 끝에 있느니라. 8. And the border went up by the valley of the son of Hinnom unto the south side of the Jebusite; the same is Jerusalem: and the border went up to the top of the mountain that lieth before the valley of Hinnom westward, which is at the end of the valley of the giants northward:
9. 또 그 경계가 이 산의 꼭대기에서부터 넵도아의 물 샘에까지 이르러 에브론 산의 도시들에까지 나가고 또 바알라 곧 기럇여아림에 이르며 9. And the border was drawn from the top of the hill unto the fountain of the water of Nephtoah, and went out to the cities of mount Ephron; and the border was drawn to Baalah, which is Kirjath-jearim:
10. 또 바알라에서부터 서쪽으로 돌이켜서 세일 산에 이르러 북쪽 편의 여아림 산 곧 그살론 옆을 지나고 또 벧세메스로 내려가서 딤나를 지나고 10. And the border compassed from Baalah westward unto mount Seir, and passed along unto the side of mount Jearim, which is Chesalon, on the north side, and went down to Beth-shemesh, and passed on to Timnah:
11. 또 북쪽으로 에그론 옆으로 나가서 식그론에 이르러 바알라 산을 지나 얍느엘에 이르렀나니 그 경계가 나가서 바다에 이르렀더라. 11. And the border went out unto the side of Ekron northward: and the border was drawn to Shicron, and passed along to mount Baalah, and went out unto Jabneel; and the goings out of the border were at the sea.
12. 서쪽 경계는 대해와 그것의 해변까지니 유다 자손이 그들의 가족대로 얻은 사방의 지경이 이러하니라. 12. And the west border was to the great sea, and the coast thereof. This is the coast of the children of Judah round about according to their families.
13. ¶ {주}께서 여호수아에게 주신 명령대로 그가 아낙의 아버지 아르바의 도시 곧 헤브론을 유다 자손 가운데서 여분네의 아들 갈렙에게 몫으로 주었더라. 13. ¶ And unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh he gave a part among the children of Judah, according to the commandment of the LORD to Joshua, even the city of Arba the father of Anak, which city is Hebron.
14. 갈렙이 거기서 아낙의 아이들 곧 아낙의 세 아들 세새와 아히만과 달매를 쫓아냈고 14. And Caleb drove thence the three sons of Anak, Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, the children of Anak.
15. 거기서 올라가 드빌의 거주민들에게 이르렀는데 전에 드빌의 이름은 기럇세벨이더라. 15. And he went up thence to the inhabitants of Debir: and the name of Debir before was Kirjath-sepher.
16. ¶ 갈렙이 말하기를, 기럇세벨을 쳐서 그것을 빼앗는 자에게는 내가 내 딸 악사를 아내로 주리라, 하였더니 16. ¶ And Caleb said, He that smiteth Kirjath-sepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter to wife.
17. 갈렙의 동생이요, 그나스의 아들인 옷니엘이 그것을 빼앗았으므로 그가 자기 딸 악사를 그에게 아내로 주었더라. 17. And Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter to wife.
18. 그녀가 그에게 갈 때에 그를 움직여 자기 아버지에게 밭을 구하려 하더라. 그녀가 나귀에서 내리니 갈렙이 그녀에게 말하되, 네가 무엇을 원하느냐? 하매 18. And it came to pass, as she came unto him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted off her ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wouldest thou?
19. 그녀가 대답하되, 내게 복을 주소서. 아버지께서 내게 남쪽 땅을 주셨으니 물 샘도 내게 주소서, 하매 그가 위 샘과 아래 샘을 그녀에게 주었더라. 19. Who answered, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the nether springs.
20. 유다 자손의 지파가 그들의 가족대로 얻은 상속 재산은 이러하니라. 20. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families.
21. 유다 자손의 지파의 맨 끝 도시들 곧 남쪽으로 에돔의 지경을 향한 도시들은 갑스엘과 에델과 야굴과 21. And the uttermost cities of the tribe of the children of Judah toward the coast of Edom southward were Kabzeel, and Eder, and Jagur,

46. 에그론에서부터 바다까지 아스돗 옆의 모든 도시와 그것들의 마을들이며 46. From Ekron even unto the sea, all that lay near Ashdod, with their villages:
47. 아스돗과 그것의 고을들과 마을들과 가자와 그것의 고을들과 마을들이니 곧 이집트의 강과 대해와 그것의 경계에 이르기까지더라. 47. Ashdod with her towns and her villages, Gaza with her towns and her villages, unto the river of Egypt, and the great sea, and the border thereof:
48. ¶ 산지에는 사밀과 얏딜과 소고와 48. ¶ And in the mountains, Shamir, and Jattir, and Socoh,
49. 단나와 기럇산나 곧 드빌과 49. And Dannah, and Kirjath-sannah, which is Debir,

63. ¶ 예루살렘 거주민들인 여부스 족속으로 말하건대 유다 자손이 그들을 쫓아내지 못하였으므로 여부스 족속이 이 날까지 유다 자손과 함께 예루살렘에 거하느니라. 63. ¶ As for the Jebusites the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not drive them out: but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem unto this day.
1. 요셉 자손이 제비뽑은 것은 여리고 옆 요르단에서부터 동쪽에 있는 여리고 물에 이르고 여리고에서부터 벧엘 산을 지나 위로 올라가는 광야에 이르며 1. And the lot of the children of Joseph fell from Jordan by Jericho, unto the water of Jericho on the east, to the wilderness that goeth up from Jericho throughout mount Beth-el,
2. 벧엘에서부터 루스로 나가 아렉 족속의 경계를 지나 아다롯에 이르고 2. And goeth out from Beth-el to Luz, and passeth along unto the borders of Archi to Ataroth,
3. 서쪽으로 내려가 야블렛 족속의 지경에 이르러 아래쪽 벧호론의 지경과 게셀에 이르며 거기서 나가 바다에 이르느니라. 3. And goeth down westward to the coast of Japhleti, unto the coast of Beth-horon the nether, and to Gezer: and the goings out thereof are at the sea.
4. 이와 같이 요셉의 자손인 므낫세와 에브라임이 그들의 상속 재산을 얻었더라. 4. So the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance.
5. ¶ 에브라임 자손이 그들의 가족대로 얻은 경계는 이러하니라. 동쪽 편에서 그들의 상속 재산의 경계는 아다롯앗달이며 위쪽 벧호론에까지 이르렀더라. 5. ¶ And the border of the children of Ephraim according to their families was thus: even the border of their inheritance on the east side was Ataroth-addar, unto Beth-horon the upper;
6. 또 그 경계가 바다 쪽으로 나가서 북쪽 편의 믹므다에 이르며 동쪽으로 가서 다아낫실로에 이르고 그 옆을 지나 동쪽으로 야노아에 이르며 6. And the border went out toward the sea to Michmethah on the north side; and the border went about eastward unto Taanath-shiloh, and passed by it on the east to Janohah;
7. 야노아에서부터 아다롯과 나아랏으로 내려가 여리고에 이르며 요르단으로 나가고 7. And it went down from Janohah to Ataroth, and to Naarath, and came to Jericho, and went out at Jordan.
8. 또 답부아에서부터 서쪽으로 가나 강에 이르며 거기서 나가 바다에 이르렀나니 에브라임 자손의 지파가 그들의 가족대로 얻은 상속 재산이 이러하고 8. The border went out from Tappuah westward unto the river Kanah; and the goings out thereof were at the sea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Ephraim by their families.
9. 에브라임 자손을 위해 구분한 도시들 곧 모든 도시들과 그것들의 마을들이 므낫세 자손의 상속 재산 가운데 있더라. 9. And the separate cities for the children of Ephraim were among the inheritance of the children of Manasseh, all the cities with their villages.
10. 그들이 게셀에 거하던 가나안 족속을 쫓아내지 아니하였으므로 가나안 족속이 이 날까지 에브라임 족속 가운데 거하면서 조공을 바치고 섬기느니라. 10. And they drave not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer: but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites unto this day, and serve under tribute.
1. 므낫세가 요셉의 맏아들이었으므로 그의 지파를 위해서도 제비를 뽑았으니 즉 므낫세의 맏아들 마길 곧 길르앗의 아버지를 위해 제비를 뽑았더라. 그는 전사이므로 그런 까닭에 길르앗과 바산을 얻었더라. 1. There was also a lot for the tribe of Manasseh; for he was the firstborn of Joseph; to wit, for Machir the firstborn of Manasseh, the father of Gilead: because he was a man of war, therefore he had Gilead and Bashan.
2. 므낫세의 자손 중에서 남은 자들을 위해서도 그들의 가족대로 제비를 뽑았으니 곧 아비에셀의 자손과 헬렉의 자손과 아스리엘의 자손과 세겜의 자손과 헤벨의 자손과 스미다의 자손을 위해 제비를 뽑았더라. 이들은 그들의 가족대로 요셉의 아들인 므낫세의 남자 자손이더라. 2. There was also a lot for the rest of the children of Manasseh by their families; for the children of Abi-ezer, and for the children of Helek, and for the children of Asriel, and for the children of Shechem, and for the children of Hepher, and for the children of Shemida: these were the male children of Manasseh the son of Joseph by their families.
3. ¶ 그러나 헤벨의 아들이요, 길르앗의 손자요, 마길의 증손이요, 므낫세의 사대 손인 슬로브핫은 아들이 없고 딸뿐이요, 그의 딸들의 이름은 이러하니 곧 말라와 노아와 호글라와 밀가와 디르사라. 3. ¶ But Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, had no sons, but daughters: and these are the names of his daughters, Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.

Therefore according to the commandment of the LORD he gave them an inheritance among the brethren of their father.
5. 요르단 저편에 있던 길르앗과 바산 땅 외에 므낫세에게 열 몫이 돌아갔으니 5. And there fell ten portions to Manasseh, beside the land of Gilead and Bashan, which were on the other side Jordan;
6. 이는 므낫세의 딸들이 그의 아들들 가운데서 상속 재산을 얻었기 때문이더라. 므낫세의 아들들 중에서 남은 자들이 길르앗 땅을 차지하니라. 6. Because the daughters of Manasseh had an inheritance among his sons: and the rest of Manasseh's sons had the land of Gilead.
7. ¶ 므낫세의 지경은 아셀에서부터 세겜 앞에 놓인 믹므다까지였으며 또 그 경계가 오른쪽으로 가서 엔답부아의 거주민들에게 이르렀더라. 7. ¶ And the coast of Manasseh was from Asher to Michmethah, that lieth before Shechem; and the border went along on the right hand unto the inhabitants of En-tappuah.
8. 이제 므낫세가 답부아 땅을 차지하였으나 므낫세 경계에 있는 답부아는 에브라임 자손에게 속하였더라. 8. Now Manasseh had the land of Tappuah: but Tappuah on the border of Manasseh belonged to the children of Ephraim;
9. 또 그 지경이 가나 강으로 내려가서 그 강의 남쪽에 이르렀더라. 에브라임의 이 도시들은 므낫세의 도시들 가운데 있느니라. 므낫세의 지경도 그 강의 북쪽 편에 있었으며 그 지경이 나가서 바다에 이르렀더라. 9. And the coast descended unto the river Kanah, southward of the river: these cities of Ephraim are among the cities of Manasseh: the coast of Manasseh also was on the north side of the river, and the outgoings of it were at the sea:
10. 그것은 남쪽으로는 에브라임에 속하였고 북쪽으로는 므낫세에 속하였으며 바다가 그의 경계가 되었더라. 그것들은 북쪽에서 아셀에서 함께 만나고 동쪽에서는 잇사갈에서 함께 만났더라. 10. Southward it was Ephraim's, and northward it was Manasseh's, and the sea is his border; and they met together in Asher on the north, and in Issachar on the east.
11. 또 므낫세에게는 잇사갈과 아셀에도 소유가 있었으니 곧 벧스안과 그것의 고을들과 이블르암과 그것의 고을들과 도르의 거주민들과 그것의 고을들과 또 엔돌의 거주민들과 그것의 고을들과 다아낙의 거주민들과 그것의 고을들과 므깃도의 거주민들과 그것의 고을들 곧 세 지역이라. 11. And Manasseh had in Issachar and in Asher Beth-shean and her towns, and Ibleam and her towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and her towns, and the inhabitants of En-dor and her towns, and the inhabitants of Taanach and her towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and her towns, even three countries.
12. 그러나 므낫세 자손이 그 도시들의 거주민들을 쫓아내지 못하매 가나안 족속이 그 땅에 거하려 하였더라. 12. Yet the children of Manasseh could not drive out the inhabitants of those cities; but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.
13. 이스라엘 자손이 강성한 뒤에야 가나안 족속에게 조공을 바치게 하였으나 그들을 철저히 쫓아내지는 아니하였더라. 13. Yet it came to pass, when the children of Israel were waxen strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute; but did not utterly drive them out.
14. 요셉 자손이 여호수아에게 말하여 이르되, {주}께서 지금까지 내게 복을 주셨으므로 내가 큰 백성이 되었거늘 어찌하여 당신이 내게 한 제비, 한 몫만 상속 재산으로 주셨나이까? 하매 14. And the children of Joseph spake unto Joshua, saying, Why hast thou given me but one lot and one portion to inherit, seeing I am a great people, forasmuch as the LORD hath blessed me hitherto?
15. 여호수아가 그들에게 대답하되, 네가 큰 백성이므로 에브라임 산이 네게 너무 좁을진대 나무가 많은 지역으로 올라가 브리스 족속과 거인들의 땅에서 너를 위하여 거기서 나무를 베어 내라, 하니 15. And Joshua answered them, If thou be a great people, then get thee up to the wood country, and cut down for thyself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the giants, if mount Ephraim be too narrow for thee.
16. 요셉 자손이 이르되, 그 산은 우리에게 넉넉하지도 아니하고 골짜기 땅에 거하는 모든 가나안 족속에게는 벧스안과 그것의 고을들에 거하는 자든지 예스르엘 골짜기에 거하는 자든지 다 철 병거가 있나이다, 하매 16. And the children of Joseph said, The hill is not enough for us: and all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both they who are of Beth-shean and her towns, and they who are of the valley of Jezreel.
17. 여호수아가 요셉의 집 곧 에브라임과 므낫세에게 말하여 이르되, 너는 큰 백성이요 큰 권능이 있은즉 한 제비의 몫만 갖지 말라. 17. And Joshua spake unto the house of Joseph, even to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, Thou art a great people, and hast great power: thou shalt not have one lot only:
18. 그 산도 네 것이 되리라. 그것이 삼림인즉 네가 베어 내야 하리라. 그러면 그 산에서 나간 곳이 네 것이 되리니 비록 가나안 족속이 철 병거를 가졌고 강할지라도 네가 그들을 쫓아낼지니라, 하니라. 18. But the mountain shall be thine; for it is a wood, and thou shalt cut it down: and the outgoings of it shall be thine: for thou shalt drive out the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots, and though they be strong.
1. 이스라엘 자손의 온 회중이 실로에 함께 모여 거기에 회중의 성막을 세웠더라. 그 땅이 그들 앞에서 정복되었으나 1. And the whole congregation of the children of Israel assembled together at Shiloh, and set up the tabernacle of the congregation there. And the land was subdued before them.
2. 이스라엘 자손 가운데 아직도 일곱 지파가 자기들의 상속 재산을 받지 못한 채 남아 있었으므로 2. And there remained among the children of Israel seven tribes, which had not yet received their inheritance.
3. 여호수아가 이스라엘 자손에게 이르되, 너희가 어느 때까지 {주} 너희 조상들의 하나님께서 너희에게 주신 땅을 소유하러 가기를 늦추려느냐? 3. And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the LORD God of your fathers hath given you?
4. 너희 가운데서 각 지파를 위해 세 사람씩 내라. 내가 그들을 보내리니 그들이 일어나서 그 땅을 두루 다니며 자기들의 상속 재산에 따라 그것을 묘사한 뒤 내게로 돌아오리라. 4. Give out from among you three men for each tribe: and I will send them, and they shall rise, and go through the land, and describe it according to the inheritance of them; and they shall come again to me.
5. 그들이 그 땅을 일곱 몫으로 나누되 유다는 남쪽으로 자기 지경 안에 거하고 요셉의 집은 북쪽으로 자기 지경 안에 거하리니 5. And they shall divide it into seven parts: Judah shall abide in their coast on the south, and the house of Joseph shall abide in their coasts on the north.
6. 그러므로 너희가 그 땅을 일곱 몫으로 묘사한 뒤 그 묘사한 것을 이곳으로 내게로 가져올지니라. 그러면 내가 여기에서 너희를 위하여 {주} 우리 하나님 앞에서 제비를 뽑으리라. 6. Ye shall therefore describe the land into seven parts, and bring the description hither to me, that I may cast lots for you here before the LORD our God.
7. 그러나 레위 사람들은 너희 가운데 몫이 없나니 {주}의 제사장 직분이 그들의 상속 재산이니라. 갓과 르우벤과 므낫세 반 지파는 요르단 건너편 동쪽에서 이미 자기들의 상속 재산을 받았나니 그것은 {주}의 종 모세가 그들에게 준 것이니라, 하니라. 7. But the Levites have no part among you; for the priesthood of the LORD is their inheritance: and Gad, and Reuben, and half the tribe of Manasseh, have received their inheritance beyond Jordan on the east, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave them.
8. ¶ 그 사람들이 일어나서 나가니 여호수아가 그 땅을 묘사하러 가는 자들에게 명하여 이르되, 가서 그 땅을 두루 다니며 그것을 묘사한 뒤 내게로 돌아오라. 그러면 내가 여기 실로에서 너희를 위하여 {주} 앞에서 제비를 뽑으리라, 하니라. 8. ¶ And the men arose, and went away: and Joshua charged them that went to describe the land, saying, Go and walk through the land, and describe it, and come again to me, that I may here cast lots for you before the LORD in Shiloh.
9. 그 사람들이 가서 그 땅을 두루 지나가며 그 땅을 도시 별로 책에다 일곱 몫으로 묘사하고 실로에 있던 군대에게로 여호수아에게로 돌아오니라. 9. And the men went and passed through the land, and described it by cities into seven parts in a book, and came again to Joshua to the host at Shiloh.
10. ¶ 여호수아가 그들을 위하여 실로에서 {주} 앞에서 제비를 뽑고 거기서 여호수아가 이스라엘 자손의 배분에 따라 그 땅을 그들을 위하여 나누었더라. 10. ¶ And Joshua cast lots for them in Shiloh before the LORD: and there Joshua divided the land unto the children of Israel according to their divisions.
11. ¶ 베냐민 자손의 지파를 위하여 그들의 가족대로 제비를 뽑았는데 그들이 제비뽑은 땅의 지경은 유다 자손과 요셉 자손 사이에 들었더라. 11. ¶ And the lot of the tribe of the children of Benjamin came up according to their families: and the coast of their lot came forth between the children of Judah and the children of Joseph.
12. 북쪽 편의 그들의 경계는 요르단에서부터 시작되고 북쪽 편의 여리고 옆으로 올라가며 서쪽으로 산지를 지나 올라가고 또 거기서 나가 벧아웬 광야에 이르며 12. And their border on the north side was from Jordan; and the border went up to the side of Jericho on the north side, and went up through the mountains westward; and the goings out thereof were at the wilderness of Beth-aven.
13. 또 그 경계가 거기서부터 루스로 나가서 남쪽으로 루스 옆에 이르렀는데 루스는 곧 벧엘이며 또 그 경계가 아다롯앗달로 내려가서 아래쪽 벧호론의 남쪽 편에 놓인 산에 가까이 이르고 13. And the border went over from thence toward Luz, to the side of Luz, which is Beth-el, southward; and the border descended to Ataroth-adar, near the hill that lieth on the south side of the nether Beth-horon.
14. 거기서 뻗어 나와 벧호론 앞에 남쪽으로 놓인 산에서부터 남쪽으로 바다의 모퉁이를 돌고 거기서 나가 유다 자손의 도시인 기럇바알 곧 기럇여아림에 이르렀나니 이것은 서부 지역이더라. 14. And the border was drawn thence, and compassed the corner of the sea southward, from the hill that lieth before Beth-horon southward; and the goings out thereof were at Kirjath-baal, which is Kirjath-jearim, a city of the children of Judah: this was the west quarter.
15. 남부 지역은 기럇여아림의 끝에서부터 시작되며 그 경계가 서쪽으로 나가서 넵도아 우물에 이르고 15. And the south quarter was from the end of Kirjath-jearim, and the border went out on the west, and went out to the well of waters of Nephtoah:
16. 북쪽으로 거인들의 골짜기에 있는 산 곧 힌놈의 아들의 골짜기 앞에 있는 산 끝으로 내려가며 또 힌놈의 골짜기로 내려가서 남쪽으로 여부스 옆에 이르러 엔로겔로 내려가고 16. And the border came down to the end of the mountain that lieth before the valley of the son of Hinnom, and which is in the valley of the giants on the north, and descended to the valley of Hinnom, to the side of Jebusi on the south, and descended to En-rogel,
17. 또 북쪽에서부터 뻗어 나와 엔세메스로 나아가서 아둠밈 비탈 맞은편의 글릴롯 쪽으로 나아가 르우벤의 아들인 보한의 돌이 있는 곳까지 내려가며 17. And was drawn from the north, and went forth to En-shemesh, and went forth toward Geliloth, which is over against the going up of Adummim, and descended to the stone of Bohan the son of Reuben,
18. 북쪽을 향해 아라바 맞은편을 지나 아라바로 내려가고 18. And passed along toward the side over against Arabah northward, and went down unto Arabah:
19. 또 그 경계가 북쪽으로 벧호글라 옆을 지나고 나가서 요르단 남단에 있는 염해의 북쪽 만에 이르렀나니 이것은 남쪽 지경이더라. 19. And the border passed along to the side of Beth-hoglah northward: and the outgoings of the border were at the north bay of the salt sea at the south end of Jordan: this was the south coast.
20. 동쪽 편에서 그것의 경계는 요르단이더라. 이것은 베냐민 자손이 그들의 가족대로 얻은 상속 재산의 사방 지경에 따른 그들의 상속 재산이더라. 20. And Jordan was the border of it on the east side. This was the inheritance of the children of Benjamin, by the coasts thereof round about, according to their families.
21. 이제 베냐민 자손의 지파가 그들의 가족대로 얻은 도시들은 여리고와 벧호글라와 그시스 골짜기와 21. Now the cities of the tribe of the children of Benjamin according to their families were Jericho, and Beth-hoglah, and the valley of Keziz,
22. 벧아라바와 스마라임과 벧엘과 22. And Beth-arabah, and Zemaraim, and Beth-el,
23. 아빔과 바라와 오브라와 23. And Avim, and Parah, and Ophrah,
24. 그발암모나이와 오브니와 가바니 곧 열두 도시와 그것들의 마을들이며 24. And Chephar-haammonai, and Ophni, and Gaba; twelve cities with their villages:
25. 기브온과 라마와 브에롯과 25. Gibeon, and Ramah, and Beeroth,
26. 미스바와 그비라와 모사와 26. And Mizpeh, and Chephirah, and Mozah,
27. 레겜과 이르베엘과 다랄라와 27. And Rekem, and Irpeel, and Taralah,
28. 셀라와 엘렙과 여부스 즉 예루살렘과 기브앗과 기럇이니 곧 열네 도시와 그것들의 마을들이더라. 이것이 베냐민 자손이 그들의 가족대로 얻은 상속 재산이니라. 28. And Zelah, Eleph, and Jebusi, which is Jerusalem, Gibeath, and Kirjath; fourteen cities with their villages. This is the inheritance of the children of Benjamin according to their families.
1. 둘째로 시므온 곧 시므온 자손의 지파를 위하여 그들의 가족대로 제비를 뽑았는데 그들의 상속 재산은 유다 자손의 상속 재산 안에 있더라. 1. And the second lot came forth to Simeon, even for the tribe of the children of Simeon according to their families: and their inheritance was within the inheritance of the children of Judah.
2. 그들이 얻은 상속 재산은 브엘세바 혹은 세바와 몰라다와 2. And they had in their inheritance Beer-sheba, or Sheba, and Moladah,
3. 하살수알과 발라와 아셈과 3. And Hazar-shual, and Balah, and Azem,
4. 엘도랏과 브둘과 호르마와 4. And Eltolad, and Bethul, and Hormah,
5. 시글락과 벧말가봇과 하살수사와 5. And Ziklag, and Beth-marcaboth, and Hazar-susah,
6. 벧르바옷과 사루헨이니 곧 열세 도시와 그것들의 마을들이며 6. And Beth-lebaoth, and Sharuhen; thirteen cities and their villages:
7. 아인과 렘몬과 에델과 아산이니 곧 네 도시와 그것들의 마을들이며 7. Ain, Remmon, and Ether, and Ashan; four cities and their villages:
8. 또 남쪽의 라맛 곧 바알랏브엘에까지 이르는 이 도시들 사방의 모든 마을이니 이것이 시므온 자손의 지파가 그들의 가족대로 얻은 상속 재산이니라. 8. And all the villages that were round about these cities to Baalath-beer, Ramath of the south. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Simeon according to their families.
9. 시므온 자손의 상속 재산은 유다 자손의 몫 중에서 취하였으니 이는 유다 자손의 몫이 그들에게 너무 많으므로 시므온 자손이 자기들의 상속 재산을 그들의 상속 재산 안에서 얻었기 때문이더라. 9. Out of the portion of the children of Judah was the inheritance of the children of Simeon: for the part of the children of Judah was too much for them: therefore the children of Simeon had their inheritance within the inheritance of them.
10. ¶ 셋째로 스불론 자손을 위하여 그들의 가족대로 제비를 뽑았는데 그들의 상속 재산의 경계는 사릿에 이르렀더라. 10. ¶ And the third lot came up for the children of Zebulun according to their families: and the border of their inheritance was unto Sarid:
11. 그들의 경계는 바다 쪽으로 올라가서 마랄라에 이르러 답바셋에 이르며 욕느암 앞의 강에 이르고 11. And their border went up toward the sea, and Maralah, and reached to Dabbasheth, and reached to the river that is before Jokneam;
12. 사릿에서부터 돌아서 동쪽으로 해 뜨는 쪽을 향하여 기슬롯다볼의 경계에 이르며 다브랏으로 나가서 야비아로 올라가고 12. And turned from Sarid eastward toward the sunrising unto the border of Chisloth-tabor, and then goeth out to Daberath, and goeth up to Japhia,
13. 또 거기서 동쪽으로 깃다헤벨을 지나 잇다가신에 이르며 렘몬므도알과 네아로 나가서 13. And from thence passeth on along on the east to Gittah-hepher, to Ittah-kazin, and goeth out to Remmon-methoar to Neah;
14. 북쪽 편에서 돌아 한나돈에 이르고 나가서 입다엘 골짜기에 이르며 14. And the border compasseth it on the north side to Hannathon: and the outgoings thereof are in the valley of Jiphthah-el:
15. 또 갓닷과 나할랄과 시므론과 이달라와 베들레헴이니 곧 열두 도시와 그것들의 마을들이더라. 15. And Kattath, and Nahallal, and Shimron, and Idalah, and Beth-lehem: twelve cities with their villages.
16. 이것이 스불론 자손이 그들의 가족대로 얻은 상속 재산이니 곧 이 도시들과 그것들의 마을들이니라. 16. This is the inheritance of the children of Zebulun according to their families, these cities with their villages.
17. ¶ 넷째로 잇사갈 곧 잇사갈 자손을 위하여 그들의 가족대로 제비를 뽑았는데 17. ¶ And the fourth lot came out to Issachar, for the children of Issachar according to their families.
18. 그들의 경계는 예스르엘을 향하고 그술롯과 수넴과 18. And their border was toward Jezreel, and Chesulloth, and Shunem,
19. 하바라임과 시혼과 아나하랏과 19. And Haphraim, and Shihon, and Anaharath,
20. 랍빗과 기시온과 아베스와 20. And Rabbith, and Kishion, and Abez,
21. 레멧과 엔간님과 엔핫다와 벧바세스이며 21. And Remeth, and En-gannim, and En-haddah, and Beth-pazzez;
22. 그 지경이 다볼과 사하시마와 벧세메스에 이르고 그들의 경계가 나가서 요르단에 이르렀으니 곧 열여섯 도시와 그것들의 마을들이더라. 22. And the coast reacheth to Tabor, and Shahazimah, and Beth-shemesh; and the outgoings of their border were at Jordan: sixteen cities with their villages.
23. 이것이 잇사갈 자손의 지파가 그들의 가족대로 얻은 상속 재산이니 곧 그 도시들과 그것들의 마을들이니라. 23. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Issachar according to their families, the cities and their villages.
24. ¶ 다섯째로 아셀 자손의 지파를 위하여 그들의 가족대로 제비를 뽑았는데 24. ¶ And the fifth lot came out for the tribe of the children of Asher according to their families.
25. 그들의 경계는 헬갓과 할리와 베덴과 악삽과 25. And their border was Helkath, and Hali, and Beten, and Achshaph,
26. 알람멜렉과 아맛과 미스알이며 서쪽으로 갈멜에 이르고 시홀립낫에 이르며 26. And Alammelech, and Amad, and Misheal; and reacheth to Carmel westward, and to Shihor-libnath;
27. 해 뜨는 쪽으로 돌아 벧다곤에 이르고 스불론에 이르며 벧에멕과 느이엘의 북쪽 편을 향한 입다엘 골짜기에 이르고 왼쪽에서 가불로 나가 27. And turneth toward the sunrising to Beth-dagon, and reacheth to Zebulun, and to the valley of Jiphthah-el toward the north side of Beth-emek, and Neiel, and goeth out to Cabul on the left hand,
28. 헤브론과 르홉과 함몬과 가나를 지나 큰 시돈에까지 이르며 28. And Hebron, and Rehob, and Hammon, and Kanah, even unto great Zidon;
29. 또 그 지경이 돌아서 라마와 견고한 도시 두로에 이르고 또 그 지경이 돌아서 호사에 이르며 그것이 나가서 악십에 이르는 지경으로부터 바다에 이르느니라. 29. And then the coast turneth to Ramah, and to the strong city Tyre; and the coast turneth to Hosah; and the outgoings thereof are at the sea from the coast to Achzib:
30. 또 움마와 아벡과 르홉이니 곧 스물두 도시와 그것들의 마을들이더라. 30. Ummah also, and Aphek, and Rehob: twenty and two cities with their villages.
31. 이것이 아셀 자손의 지파가 그들의 가족대로 얻은 상속 재산이니 곧 이 도시들과 그것들의 마을들이니라. 31. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Asher according to their families, these cities with their villages.
32. ¶ 여섯째로 납달리 자손을 위하여 곧 납달리 자손을 위하여 그들의 가족대로 제비를 뽑았는데 32. ¶ The sixth lot came out to the children of Naphtali, even for the children of Naphtali according to their families.
33. 그들의 지경은 헬렙과 알론에서부터 사아난님과 아다미와 네겝과 얍느엘을 지나 라굼까지요, 또 그것이 나가서 요르단에 이르고 33. And their coast was from Heleph, from Allon to Zaanannim, and Adami, Nekeb, and Jabneel, unto Lakum; and the outgoings thereof were at Jordan:
34. 또 그 지경이 서쪽으로 돌아 아스놋다볼에 이르며 거기서 나가 후곡에 이르러 남쪽 편에서는 스불론에 닿고 서쪽 편에서는 아셀에 닿으며 해 뜨는 쪽에서는 요르단 위의 유다에 닿고 34. And then the coast turneth westward to Aznoth-tabor, and goeth out from thence to Hukkok, and reacheth to Zebulun on the south side, and reacheth to Asher on the west side, and to Judah upon Jordan toward the sunrising.
35. 성벽을 두른 도시들은 짓딤과 세르와 함맛과 락갓과 긴네렛과 35. And the fenced cities are Ziddim, Zer, and Hammath, Rakkath, and Chinnereth,
36. 아다마와 라마와 하솔과 36. And Adamah, and Ramah, and Hazor,
37. 게데스와 에드레이와 엔하솔과 37. And Kedesh, and Edrei, and En-hazor,
38. 이론과 믹다렐과 호렘과 벧아낫과 벧세메스니 곧 열아홉 도시와 그것들의 마을들이더라. 38. And Iron, and Migdal-el, Horem, and Beth-anath, and Beth-shemesh; nineteen cities with their villages.
39. 이것이 납달리 자손의 지파가 그들의 가족대로 얻은 상속 재산이니 곧 그 도시들과 그것들의 마을들이니라. 39. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Naphtali according to their families, the cities and their villages.
40. ¶ 일곱째로 단 자손의 지파를 위하여 그들의 가족대로 제비를 뽑았는데 40. ¶ And the seventh lot came out for the tribe of the children of Dan according to their families.
41. 그들의 상속 재산의 지경은 소라와 에스다올과 이르세메스와 41. And the coast of their inheritance was Zorah, and Eshtaol, and Ir-shemesh,
42. 사알랍빈과 아얄론과 예들라와 42. And Shaalabbin, and Ajalon, and Jethlah,
43. 엘론과 딤나다와 에그론과 43. And Elon, and Thimnathah, and Ekron,
44. 엘드게와 깁브돈과 바알랏과 44. And Eltekeh, and Gibbethon, and Baalath,
45. 여훗과 브네브락과 가드림몬과 45. And Jehud, and Bene-berak, and Gath-rimmon,
46. 메얄곤과 락곤과 얍보 맞은편 경계까지더라. 46. And Me-jarkon, and Rakkon, with the border before Japho.
47. 단 자손의 지경이 그들에게 너무 적게 뻗어나갔으므로 단 자손이 올라가 레셈과 싸워 그것을 빼앗되 칼날로 쳐서 그것을 소유하여 그 안에 거하며 자기들의 조상 단의 이름을 따라 레셈을 단이라 부르니라. 47. And the coast of the children of Dan went out too little for them: therefore the children of Dan went up to fight against Leshem, and took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and possessed it, and dwelt therein, and called Leshem, Dan, after the name of Dan their father.
48. 이것이 단 자손의 지파가 그들의 가족대로 얻은 상속 재산이니 곧 이 도시들과 그것들의 마을들이니라. 48. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Dan according to their families, these cities with their villages.
49. ¶ 이스라엘 자손이 자기들의 지경대로 상속 재산의 땅 나누기를 마치고 자기들 가운데서 눈의 아들 여호수아에게 상속 재산을 주되 49. ¶ When they had made an end of dividing the land for inheritance by their coasts, the children of Israel gave an inheritance to Joshua the son of Nun among them:
50. {주}의 말씀에 따라 그가 요구한 도시 곧 에브라임 산에 있는 딤낫세라를 그에게 주매 그가 도시를 짓고 그 안에 거하였더라. 50. According to the word of the LORD they gave him the city which he asked, even Timnath-serah in mount Ephraim: and he built the city, and dwelt therein.
51. 제사장 엘르아살과 눈의 아들 여호수아와 이스라엘 자손 지파들의 아버지들의 우두머리들이 실로에서, 회중의 성막 문에서 {주} 앞에서 상속 재산으로 제비뽑아 나눈 상속 재산이 이러하니라. 이와 같이 그들이 그 지역을 나누는 일을 마치니라. 51. These are the inheritances, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, divided for an inheritance by lot in Shiloh before the LORD, at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. So they made an end of dividing the country.
1. 또 {주}께서 여호수아에게 말씀하여 이르시되, 1. The LORD also spake unto Joshua, saying,
2. 이스라엘 자손에게 말하여 이르라. 내가 모세의 손으로 너희에게 말한 도피 도시들을 너희를 위해 지정하여 2. Speak to the children of Israel, saying, Appoint out for you cities of refuge, whereof I spake unto you by the hand of Moses:
3. 알지 못하고 자기도 모르게 사람을 죽이는 자가 거기로 도망하게 하라. 그 도피 도시들은 피의 원수를 갚는 자로부터 너희를 지켜 줄 피난처니라. 3. That the slayer that killeth any person unawares and unwittingly may flee thither: and they shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood.
4. 그 도시들 중의 하나로 도망하는 자는 그 도시의 문어귀에 서서 그 도시 장로들의 귀에 자기 사정을 밝히 말할 것이요, 그들은 도시 안으로 자기들에게로 그를 받아들이고 그에게 처소를 주어 그가 자기들 가운데 거하게 하고 4. And when he that doth flee unto one of those cities shall stand at the entering of the gate of the city, and shall declare his cause in the ears of the elders of that city, they shall take him into the city unto them, and give him a place, that he may dwell among them.
5. 피의 원수를 갚는 자가 그를 추격한다 할지라도 사람을 죽인 자를 그의 손에 넘겨주지 말지니 이는 그가 전에 자기 이웃을 미워하지 아니하다가 자기도 모르게 자기 이웃을 쳤기 때문이라. 5. And if the avenger of blood pursue after him, then they shall not deliver the slayer up into his hand; because he smote his neighbour unwittingly, and hated him not beforetime.
6. 사람을 죽인 자는 회중 앞에 서서 재판을 받을 때까지 또 그 당시의 대제사장이 죽을 때까지 그 도시에 거하다가 그 뒤에 자기의 도시 곧 자기가 도망하여 나온 그 도시에 있는 자기 집으로 돌아갈지니라. 6. And he shall dwell in that city, until he stand before the congregation for judgment, and until the death of the high priest that shall be in those days: then shall the slayer return, and come unto his own city, and unto his own house, unto the city from whence he fled.
7. ¶ 그들이 납달리 산의 갈릴리의 게데스와 에브라임 산의 세겜과 유다 산의 기럇아르바 곧 헤브론을 지정하고 7. ¶ And they appointed Kedesh in Galilee in mount Naphtali, and Shechem in mount Ephraim, and Kirjath-arba, which is Hebron, in the mountain of Judah.
8. 또 요르단 저편 곧 동쪽으로 여리고 옆에는 르우벤 지파에서 평야 위 광야의 베셀과 갓 지파에서 길르앗의 라못과 므낫세 지파에서 바산의 골란을 지정하였더라. 8. And on the other side Jordan by Jericho eastward, they assigned Bezer in the wilderness upon the plain out of the tribe of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gilead out of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan out of the tribe of Manasseh.
9. 이것들은 이스라엘의 모든 자손과 그들 가운데 머무는 타국인을 위하여 지정한 도시들이었으니 이것은 누구든지 알지 못하고 어떤 사람을 죽이는 경우 거기로 도망하여 회중 앞에 설 때까지 피의 원수를 갚는 자의 손에 죽지 아니하게 하려 함이었더라. 9. These were the cities appointed for all the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them, that whosoever killeth any person at unawares might flee thither, and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood, until he stood before the congregation.
1. 그때에 레위 사람들의 아버지들의 우두머리들이 제사장 엘르아살과 눈의 아들 여호수아와 이스라엘 자손 지파들의 아버지들의 우두머리들에게 나아와 1. Then came near the heads of the fathers of the Levites unto Eleazar the priest, and unto Joshua the son of Nun, and unto the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel;
2. 가나안 땅의 실로에서 그들에게 말하여 이르되, {주}께서 모세의 손으로 우리가 거할 도시들과 우리의 가축을 먹일 그것들의 주변 지역을 우리에게 주도록 명령하셨나이다, 하매 2. And they spake unto them at Shiloh in the land of Canaan, saying, The LORD commanded by the hand of Moses to give us cities to dwell in, with the suburbs thereof for our cattle.
3. 이스라엘 자손이 {주}의 명령대로 자기들의 상속 재산에서 이 도시들과 그것들의 주변 지역을 레위 사람들에게 주니라. 3. And the children of Israel gave unto the Levites out of their inheritance, at the commandment of the LORD, these cities and their suburbs.
4. 고핫 족속의 가족들을 위하여 제비를 뽑았는데 레위 사람들 중에서 제사장 아론의 자손은 유다 지파와 시므온 지파와 베냐민 지파에서 제비를 뽑아 열세 도시를 얻었고 4. And the lot came out for the families of the Kohathites: and the children of Aaron the priest, which were of the Levites, had by lot out of the tribe of Judah, and out of the tribe of Simeon, and out of the tribe of Benjamin, thirteen cities.
5. 고핫 자손의 남은 자들은 에브라임 지파의 가족들과 단 지파와 므낫세 반 지파에서 제비를 뽑아 열 도시를 얻었으며 5. And the rest of the children of Kohath had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Ephraim, and out of the tribe of Dan, and out of the half tribe of Manasseh, ten cities.
6. 게르손 자손은 잇사갈 지파의 가족들과 아셀 지파와 납달리 지파와 바산에 있는 므낫세 반 지파에서 제비를 뽑아 열세 도시를 얻었더라. 6. And the children of Gershon had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Issachar, and out of the tribe of Asher, and out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the half tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen cities.
7. 므라리 자손은 그들의 가족대로 르우벤 지파와 갓 지파와 스불론 지파에서 열두 도시를 얻었더라. 7. The children of Merari by their families had out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.
8. {주}께서 모세의 손으로 명령하신 대로 이스라엘 자손이 제비를 뽑아 레위 사람들에게 이 도시들과 그것들의 주변 지역을 주었더라. 8. And the children of Israel gave by lot unto the Levites these cities with their suburbs, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses.
9. ¶ 유다 자손의 지파와 시므온 자손의 지파에서는 그들이 여기에서 이름을 언급한 이 도시들을 주었는데 9. ¶ And they gave out of the tribe of the children of Judah, and out of the tribe of the children of Simeon, these cities which are here mentioned by name,
10. 레위 자손 중에서 고핫 족속의 가족들에 속한 아론의 자손이 첫째로 제비 뽑혔으므로 그것들을 차지하였더라. 10. Which the children of Aaron, being of the families of the Kohathites, who were of the children of Levi, had: for theirs was the first lot.
11. 그들이 아낙의 아버지 아르바의 도시 곧 유다의 산간 지방에 있는 헤브론 도시와 그것의 사방의 주변 지역을 그들에게 주었으나 11. And they gave them the city of Arba the father of Anak, which city is Hebron, in the hill country of Judah, with the suburbs thereof round about it.
12. 오직 그 도시의 밭과 그것의 마을들은 여분네의 아들 갈렙에게 주어 그의 소유가 되게 하였더라. 12. But the fields of the city, and the villages thereof, gave they to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for his possession.
13. ¶ 이와 같이 그들이 제사장 아론의 자손에게 준 것은 사람을 죽인 자를 위한 도피 도시 헤브론과 그것의 주변 지역이요, 또 립나와 그것의 주변 지역이며 13. ¶ Thus they gave to the children of Aaron the priest Hebron with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Libnah with her suburbs,
14. 얏딜과 그것의 주변 지역과 에스드모아와 그것의 주변 지역과 14. And Jattir with her suburbs, and Eshtemoa with her suburbs,
15. 홀론과 그것의 주변 지역과 드빌과 그것의 주변 지역과 15. And Holon with her suburbs, and Debir with her suburbs,
16. 아인과 그것의 주변 지역과 윳다와 그것의 주변 지역과 벧세메스와 그것의 주변 지역이니 그 두 지파에서 아홉 도시를 주었고 16. And Ain with her suburbs, and Juttah with her suburbs, and Beth-shemesh with her suburbs; nine cities out of those two tribes.
17. 또 베냐민 지파에서는 기브온과 그것의 주변 지역과 게바와 그것의 주변 지역과 17. And out of the tribe of Benjamin, Gibeon with her suburbs, Geba with her suburbs,
18. 아나돗과 그것의 주변 지역과 알몬과 그것의 주변 지역으로 네 도시니 18. Anathoth with her suburbs, and Almon with her suburbs; four cities.
19. 아론의 자손들인 제사장들이 얻은 도시는 모두 열세 도시요, 또 그것들의 주변 지역이었더라. 19. All the cities of the children of Aaron, the priests, were thirteen cities with their suburbs.
20. ¶ 고핫 자손 중에서 남은 레위 사람들 곧 고핫 자손의 가족들은 제비를 뽑아 에브라임 지파에서 도시들을 얻었는데 20. ¶ And the families of the children of Kohath, the Levites which remained of the children of Kohath, even they had the cities of their lot out of the tribe of Ephraim.
21. 그들이 그들에게 준 것은 곧 사람을 죽인 자를 위한 도피 도시로 에브라임 산의 세겜과 그것의 주변 지역이요, 또 게셀과 그것의 주변 지역과 21. For they gave them Shechem with her suburbs in mount Ephraim, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Gezer with her suburbs,
22. 깁사임과 그것의 주변 지역과 벧호론과 그것의 주변 지역이니 곧 네 도시요, 22. And Kibzaim with her suburbs, and Beth-horon with her suburbs; four cities.
23. 또 단 지파에서 준 것은 엘드게와 그것의 주변 지역과 깁브돈과 그것의 주변 지역과 23. And out of the tribe of Dan, Eltekeh with her suburbs, Gibbethon with her suburbs,
24. 아이얄론과 그것의 주변 지역과 가드림몬과 그것의 주변 지역이니 곧 네 도시요, 24. Aijalon with her suburbs, Gath-rimmon with her suburbs; four cities.
25. 또 므낫세 반 지파에서 준 것은 다낙과 그것의 주변 지역과 가드림몬과 그것의 주변 지역이니 곧 두 도시더라. 25. And out of the half tribe of Manasseh, Tanach with her suburbs, and Gath-rimmon with her suburbs; two cities.
26. 고핫 자손 중에서 남은 가족들을 위한 도시는 모두 열 도시요, 또 그것들의 주변 지역이었더라. 26. All the cities were ten with their suburbs for the families of the children of Kohath that remained.
27. ¶ 레위 사람들의 가족들 중에서 게르손 자손에게는 다른 므낫세 반 지파에서 사람을 죽인 자를 위한 도피 도시로 바산의 골란과 그것의 주변 지역을 주었고 또 브에스드라와 그것의 주변 지역을 주었으니 곧 두 도시요, 27. ¶ And unto the children of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, out of the other half tribe of Manasseh they gave Golan in Bashan with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Beesh-terah with her suburbs; two cities.
28. 잇사갈 지파에서는 기손과 그것의 주변 지역과 다바레와 그것의 주변 지역과 28. And out of the tribe of Issachar, Kishon with her suburbs, Dabareh with her suburbs,
29. 야르뭇과 그것의 주변 지역과 엔간님과 그것의 주변 지역을 주었으니 곧 네 도시요, 29. Jarmuth with her suburbs, En-gannim with her suburbs; four cities.
30. 아셀 지파에서는 미살과 그것의 주변 지역과 압돈과 그것의 주변 지역과 30. And out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal with her suburbs, Abdon with her suburbs,
31. 헬갓과 그것의 주변 지역과 르홉과 그것의 주변 지역을 주었으니 곧 네 도시요, 31. Helkath with her suburbs, and Rehob with her suburbs; four cities.
32. 납달리 지파에서는 사람을 죽인 자를 위한 도피 도시로 갈릴리의 게데스와 그것의 주변 지역을 주었고 또 함못도르와 그것의 주변 지역과 가르단과 그것의 주변 지역을 주었으니 곧 세 도시더라. 32. And out of the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Hammoth-dor with her suburbs, and Kartan with her suburbs; three cities.
33. 게르손 족속이 그들의 가족대로 얻은 도시는 모두 열세 도시요, 또 그것들의 주변 지역이었더라. 33. All the cities of the Gershonites according to their families were thirteen cities with their suburbs.
34. ¶ 레위 사람들 중에서 남은 자들 곧 므라리 자손의 가족들에게 준 것은 스불론 지파에서 욕느암과 그것의 주변 지역과 가르다와 그것의 주변 지역과 34. ¶ And unto the families of the children of Merari, the rest of the Levites, out of the tribe of Zebulun, Jokneam with her suburbs, and Kartah with her suburbs,
35. 딤나와 그것의 주변 지역과 나하랄과 그것의 주변 지역이니 곧 네 도시요, 35. Dimnah with her suburbs, Nahalal with her suburbs; four cities.
36. 르우벤 지파에서 준 것은 베셀과 그것의 주변 지역과 야하사와 그것의 주변 지역과 36. And out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer with her suburbs, and Jahazah with her suburbs,
37. 그데못과 그것의 주변 지역과 메바앗과 그것의 주변 지역이니 곧 네 도시요, 37. Kedemoth with her suburbs, and Mephaath with her suburbs; four cities.
38. 갓 지파에서 준 것은 사람을 죽인 자를 위한 도피 도시로 길르앗의 라못과 그것의 주변 지역이요, 또 마하나임과 그것의 주변 지역과 38. And out of the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Mahanaim with her suburbs,
39. 헤스본과 그것의 주변 지역과 야셀과 그것의 주변 지역이니 모두 네 도시더라. 39. Heshbon with her suburbs, Jazer with her suburbs; four cities in all.
40. 이처럼 레위 사람들의 가족들 중에서 남은 자들 곧 므라리 자손이 그들의 가족대로 제비를 뽑아 얻은 모든 도시는 열두 도시였더라. 40. So all the cities for the children of Merari by their families, which were remaining of the families of the Levites, were by their lot twelve cities.
41. 이스라엘 자손의 소유 안에서 레위 사람들의 도시는 모두 마흔여덟 도시요, 또 그것들의 주변 지역이었더라. 41. All the cities of the Levites within the possession of the children of Israel were forty and eight cities with their suburbs.
42. 이 도시들은 각각 그것들의 사방에 주변 지역이 있었는데 이 모든 도시들이 그러하였더라. 42. These cities were every one with their suburbs round about them: thus were all these cities.
43. ¶ {주}께서 이스라엘의 조상들에게 주기로 맹세하신 온 땅을 이스라엘에게 주셨으므로 그들이 그 땅을 소유하고 그 안에 거하였으며 43. ¶ And the LORD gave unto Israel all the land which he sware to give unto their fathers; and they possessed it, and dwelt therein.
44. {주}께서 그들의 조상들에게 맹세하신 모든 것에 따라 사방에서 그들에게 안식을 주셨으므로 그들의 모든 원수들 중의 한 사람도 그들 앞에 서지 못하였더라. {주}께서 그들의 모든 원수들을 그들의 손에 넘겨주시매 44. And the LORD gave them rest round about, according to all that he sware unto their fathers: and there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand.
45. {주}께서 이스라엘의 집에게 말씀하신 선한 일 중의 하나도 빠지지 않고 다 이루어지니라. 45. There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass.
1. 그때에 여호수아가 르우벤 족속과 갓 족속과 므낫세 반 지파를 불러 1. Then Joshua called the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh,
2. 그들에게 이르되, {주}의 종 모세가 너희에게 명령한 모든 것을 너희가 지키고 또 내가 너희에게 명령한 모든 일에서 내 음성에 순종하여 2. And said unto them, Ye have kept all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, and have obeyed my voice in all that I commanded you:
3. 이 날까지 이렇게 여러 날 동안 너희 형제들을 떠나지 아니하고 {주} 너희 하나님께서 명령하신 책무를 지켰도다. 3. Ye have not left your brethren these many days unto this day, but have kept the charge of the commandment of the LORD your God.
4. 이제 {주} 너희 하나님께서 너희 형제들에게 약속하신 대로 그들에게 안식을 주셨으니 그러므로 이제 너희는 {주}의 종 모세가 요르단 저편에서 너희에게 준 너희 소유의 땅으로 가서 너희 장막으로 돌아가되 4. And now the LORD your God hath given rest unto your brethren, as he promised them: therefore now return ye, and get you unto your tents, and unto the land of your possession, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you on the other side Jordan.
5. 부지런히 주의를 기울여서 {주}의 종 모세가 너희에게 명한 명령과 율법을 행하여 {주} 너희 하나님을 사랑하고 그분의 모든 길로 걸으며 그분의 명령을 지키고 그분을 굳게 붙들며 너희 마음을 다하고 혼을 다하여 그분을 섬길지니라, 하고 5. But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.
6. 이에 여호수아가 그들을 축복하여 보내매 그들이 자기들의 장막으로 갔더라. 6. So Joshua blessed them, and sent them away: and they went unto their tents.
7. ¶ 이제 므낫세 지파의 한쪽 반 지파에게는 모세가 이미 바산에서 소유를 주었으나 그것의 다른 반 지파에게는 여호수아가 요르단 이편 서쪽에서 그들의 형제들 가운데서 소유를 주니라. 여호수아가 그들을 그들의 장막으로 돌려보낼 때에 그들을 축복하고 7. ¶ Now to the one half of the tribe of Manasseh Moses had given possession in Bashan: but unto the other half thereof gave Joshua among their brethren on this side Jordan westward. And when Joshua sent them away also unto their tents, then he blessed them,
8. 그들에게 말하여 이르되, 많은 재물과 심히 많은 가축과 은과 금과 놋과 쇠와 심히 많은 의복을 가지고 너희 장막으로 돌아가서 너희 원수들로부터 노략한 것을 너희 형제들과 나눌지니라, 하니라. 8. And he spake unto them, saying, Return with much riches unto your tents, and with very much cattle, with silver, and with gold, and with brass, and with iron, and with very much raiment: divide the spoil of your enemies with your brethren.
9. ¶ 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손과 므낫세 반 지파가 가나안 땅의 실로에서 이스라엘 자손을 떠나 모세의 손으로 하신 {주}의 말씀에 따라 자기들이 소유한 땅 곧 자기들 소유의 길르앗 지방으로 돌아가니라. 9. ¶ And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh returned, and departed from the children of Israel out of Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan, to go unto the country of Gilead, to the land of their possession, whereof they were possessed, according to the word of the LORD by the hand of Moses.
10. ¶ 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손과 므낫세 반 지파가 가나안 땅의 요르단 경계에 이르러 거기서 요르단 옆에 한 제단을 쌓았는데 그것은 보기에 큰 제단이더라. 10. ¶ And when they came unto the borders of Jordan, that are in the land of Canaan, the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh built there an altar by Jordan, a great altar to see to.
11. ¶ 이스라엘 자손이 들으니 이르기를, 보라, 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손과 므낫세 반 지파가 가나안 땅 맞은편 요르단 경계에 이스라엘 자손이 다니는 길에 한 제단을 쌓았다, 하더라. 11. ¶ And the children of Israel heard say, Behold, the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh have built an altar over against the land of Canaan, in the borders of Jordan, at the passage of the children of Israel.
12. 이스라엘 자손이 그 소식을 듣고 이스라엘 자손의 온 회중이 실로에 함께 모여 그들과 싸우러 올라가고자 하더라. 12. And when the children of Israel heard of it, the whole congregation of the children of Israel gathered themselves together at Shiloh, to go up to war against them.
13. 이스라엘 자손이 제사장 엘르아살의 아들 비느하스를 길르앗 땅으로 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손과 므낫세 반 지파에게 보내되 13. And the children of Israel sent unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the half tribe of Manasseh, into the land of Gilead, Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest,
14. 두루 이스라엘의 모든 지파에서 각각의 주요 집안에서 통치자 한 명씩을 취해 통치자 열 명을 그와 함께 가게 하였는데 각 사람은 이스라엘의 수천 명 가운데서 그들의 조상들의 집의 우두머리더라. 14. And with him ten princes, of each chief house a prince throughout all the tribes of Israel; and each one was an head of the house of their fathers among the thousands of Israel.
15. ¶ 그들이 길르앗 땅에 이르러 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손과 므낫세 반 지파에게 가서 그들에게 말하여 이르되, 15. ¶ And they came unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the half tribe of Manasseh, unto the land of Gilead, and they spake with them, saying,
16. {주}의 온 회중이 이같이 말하기를, 너희가 이 날 {주}를 따르는 일에서 돌이키려고 이스라엘의 하나님께 범한 이 범법이 도대체 무엇이냐? 너희가 너희를 위해 제단을 쌓아 이 날 {주}께 반역하였도다. 16. Thus saith the whole congregation of the LORD, What trespass is this that ye have committed against the God of Israel, to turn away this day from following the LORD, in that ye have builded you an altar, that ye might rebel this day against the LORD?
17. 브올의 불법이 우리에게 너무 적은 것이냐? {주}의 회중 안에 재앙이 있었으나 이 날까지 우리가 그 불법에서 정결하게 되지 못하였느니라. 17. Is the iniquity of Peor too little for us, from which we are not cleansed until this day, although there was a plague in the congregation of the LORD,
18. 그런데 너희가 이 날 {주}를 따르는 일에서 돌이켜서 너희가 오늘 {주}께 반역하면 내일 그분께서 이스라엘 온 회중에게 진노하시리라. 18. But that ye must turn away this day from following the LORD? and it will be, seeing ye rebel to day against the LORD, that to morrow he will be wroth with the whole congregation of Israel.
19. 그럼에도 불구하고 만일 너희 소유의 땅이 부정하거든 너희는 {주}의 성막이 거하는 {주}의 소유의 땅으로 건너와 우리 가운데서 소유를 취하라. 오직 너희는 너희를 위해 {주} 우리 하나님의 제단 외에 다른 제단을 쌓음으로 {주}께 반역하지 말며 우리에게도 반역하지 말라. 19. Notwithstanding, if the land of your possession be unclean, then pass ye over unto the land of the possession of the LORD, wherein the LORD'S tabernacle dwelleth, and take possession among us: but rebel not against the LORD, nor rebel against us, in building you an altar beside the altar of the LORD our God.
20. 세라의 아들 아간이 저주받은 물건으로 범법하였으므로 이스라엘 온 회중에게 진노가 임하지 아니하였느냐? 그 사람이 자기의 불법 가운데서 홀로 멸망하지 아니하였느니라, 하니라. 20. Did not Achan the son of Zerah commit a trespass in the accursed thing, and wrath fell on all the congregation of Israel? and that man perished not alone in his iniquity.
21. ¶ 이에 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손과 므낫세 반 지파가 이스라엘의 수천 명의 우두머리들에게 응답하여 이르되, 21. ¶ Then the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh answered, and said unto the heads of the thousands of Israel,
22. {주} 곧 신들의 하나님, {주} 곧 신들의 하나님 그분께서 아시나니 이스라엘도 알게 되리라. 그 일이 만일 {주}께 반역하는 것이거나 범법하는 것이거든 (주께서는 이 날 우리를 구원하지 마시옵소서.) 22. The LORD God of gods, the LORD God of gods, he knoweth, and Israel he shall know; if it be in rebellion, or if in transgression against the LORD, (save us not this day,)
23. 우리가 제단을 쌓은 것이 {주}를 따르는 일에서 돌이키려 함이거나 혹은 그 위에 번제 헌물이나 음식 헌물을 드리려 함이거나 혹은 그 위에 화평 헌물을 드리려 함이거든 {주}께서는 그 일로 인하여 친히 벌하시옵소서. 23. That we have built us an altar to turn from following the LORD, or if to offer thereon burnt offering or meat offering, or if to offer peace offerings thereon, let the LORD himself require it;
24. 아니라. 우리가 그 일을 행한 것은 우리가 이르기를, 이후에 너희 자손이 우리 자손에게 말하여 이르되, 너희가 {주} 이스라엘의 하나님과 무슨 상관이 있느냐? 24. And if we have not rather done it for fear of this thing, saying, In time to come your children might speak unto our children, saying, What have ye to do with the LORD God of Israel?
25. 너희 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손아, {주}께서 우리와 너희 사이에 요르단을 경계로 삼으셨나니 너희는 {주} 안에서 아무 몫도 없느니라, 하여 이처럼 너희 자손이 우리 자손으로 하여금 {주} 두려워하기를 그치게 할까 염려하노라, 하였기 때문이라. 25. For the LORD hath made Jordan a border between us and you, ye children of Reuben and children of Gad; ye have no part in the LORD: so shall your children make our children cease from fearing the LORD.
26. 그러므로 우리가 말하기를, 이제 우리가 우리를 위해 한 제단을 쌓을 준비를 하자, 하였나니 그것은 번제 헌물이나 희생물을 드리기 위해 쌓은 것이 아니요, 26. Therefore we said, Let us now prepare to build us an altar, not for burnt offering, nor for sacrifice:
27. 다만 우리와 너희 사이와 우리의 뒤를 이을 우리의 세대들 사이에 증거가 되게 하려고 쌓은 것이라. 그리하여야 우리가 {주} 앞에서 우리의 번제 헌물과 희생물과 화평 헌물로 그분을 섬길 수 있으리니 이것은 이후에 너희 자손이 우리 자손에게 이르기를, 너희는 {주} 안에서 아무 몫도 없다, 하지 못하게 하려 함이라. 27. But that it may be a witness between us, and you, and our generations after us, that we might do the service of the LORD before him with our burnt offerings, and with our sacrifices, and with our peace offerings; that your children may not say to our children in time to come, Ye have no part in the LORD.
28. 이런 까닭에 우리가 말하였거니와 만일 그들이 이후에 우리에게나 우리의 세대들에게 그와 같이 말하면 우리가 다시 말하기를, 우리 조상들이 만든 {주}의 제단의 모형을 보라. 그것은 번제 헌물이나 희생물을 드리기 위해 쌓은 것이 아니요, 다만 우리와 너희 사이에 증거일 뿐이라, 하리라. 28. Therefore said we, that it shall be, when they should so say to us or to our generations in time to come, that we may say again, Behold the pattern of the altar of the LORD, which our fathers made, not for burnt offerings, nor for sacrifices; but it is a witness between us and you.
29. 우리가 번제 헌물이나 음식 헌물이나 희생물을 드리기 위해 {주} 우리 하나님의 성막 앞에 있는 그분의 제단 외에 다른 제단을 쌓음으로 {주}께 반역하고 이 날 {주}를 따르는 일에서 돌이키는 일은 결코 있을 수 없느니라, 하니라. 29. God forbid that we should rebel against the LORD, and turn this day from following the LORD, to build an altar for burnt offerings, for meat offerings, or for sacrifices, beside the altar of the LORD our God that is before his tabernacle.
30. ¶ 제사장 비느하스와 그와 함께한 회중의 통치자들 곧 이스라엘의 수천 명의 우두머리들이 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손과 므낫세 자손이 하는 말을 들을 때에 그 말로 인해 기뻐하였더라. 30. ¶ And when Phinehas the priest, and the princes of the congregation and heads of the thousands of Israel which were with him, heard the words that the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the children of Manasseh spake, it pleased them.
31. 제사장 엘르아살의 아들 비느하스가 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손과 므낫세 자손에게 이르되, 너희가 {주}를 대적하며 이러한 범법을 행하지 아니하였으므로 우리가 이 날 {주}께서 우리 가운데 계신 줄을 아노라. 너희가 이제 이스라엘 자손을 {주}의 손에서 건져 내었느니라, 하니라. 31. And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest said unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the children of Manasseh, This day we perceive that the LORD is among us, because ye have not committed this trespass against the LORD: now ye have delivered the children of Israel out of the hand of the LORD.
32. ¶ 제사장 엘르아살의 아들 비느하스와 통치자들이 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손을 떠나 길르앗 땅에서 가나안 땅으로 돌아와 이스라엘 자손에게 이르러 그들에게 말을 다시 전하매 32. ¶ And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, and the princes, returned from the children of Reuben, and from the children of Gad, out of the land of Gilead, unto the land of Canaan, to the children of Israel, and brought them word again.
33. 이스라엘 자손이 그 일을 기뻐하였으므로 이스라엘 자손이 하나님을 찬송하고 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손이 거하는 땅을 멸하기 위해 가서 그들과 싸우려 하지 아니하였더라. 33. And the thing pleased the children of Israel; and the children of Israel blessed God, and did not intend to go up against them in battle, to destroy the land wherein the children of Reuben and Gad dwelt.
34. 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손은 그 제단이 우리 사이에서 {주}께서 하나님이심을 보여 주는 증거가 되리라 하였으므로 그것을 엣이라 불렀더라. 34. And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad called the altar Ed: for it shall be a witness between us that the LORD is God.
1. {주}께서 이스라엘에게 안식을 주시고 사방의 모든 원수로부터 벗어나게 하신 뒤에 오랜 시간이 흘러 여호수아가 나이 많아 늙게 되매 1. And it came to pass a long time after that the LORD had given rest unto Israel from all their enemies round about, that Joshua waxed old and stricken in age.
2. 여호수아가 온 이스라엘 곧 그들의 장로들과 우두머리들과 재판관들과 직무 수행자들을 불러 그들에게 이르되, 나는 나이 많아 늙었도다. 2. And Joshua called for all Israel, and for their elders, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers, and said unto them, I am old and stricken in age:
3. {주} 너희 하나님께서 너희로 인하여 이 모든 민족들에게 행하신 모든 일을 너희가 보았나니 {주} 너희 하나님은 곧 너희를 위해 싸우신 그분이시니라. 3. And ye have seen all that the LORD your God hath done unto all these nations because of you; for the LORD your God is he that hath fought for you.
4. 보라, 요르단에서부터 서쪽의 대해에 이르기까지 남아 있는 이 민족들과 내가 이미 멸한 모든 민족들을 내가 너희를 위하여 제비뽑아 나누어서 너희 지파들에게 상속 재산이 되게 하였느니라. 4. Behold, I have divided unto you by lot these nations that remain, to be an inheritance for your tribes, from Jordan, with all the nations that I have cut off, even unto the great sea westward.
5. {주} 너희 하나님 그분께서 너희 앞에서 그들을 몰아내사 너희 눈앞에서 그들을 쫓아내시리니 {주} 너희 하나님께서 너희에게 약속하신 대로 너희가 그들의 땅을 소유하리라. 5. And the LORD your God, he shall expel them from before you, and drive them from out of your sight; and ye shall possess their land, as the LORD your God hath promised unto you.
6. 그런즉 너희는 크게 용기를 내서 모세의 율법 책에 기록된 모든 것을 지키고 행하며 그것을 떠나 오른쪽으로나 왼쪽으로나 치우치지 말라. 6. Be ye therefore very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses, that ye turn not aside therefrom to the right hand or to the left;
7. 또한 너희는 너희 가운데 남아 있는 이 민족들 가운데로 들어가지 말고 그들의 신들의 이름을 언급하지 말며 그들을 두고 맹세하지 말며 또 그들을 섬기거나 그들에게 절하지 말고 7. That ye come not among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow yourselves unto them:
8. 오직 너희가 이 날까지 행한 것 같이 {주} 너희 하나님을 굳게 붙들라. 8. But cleave unto the LORD your God, as ye have done unto this day.
9. {주}께서 크고 강한 민족들을 너희 앞에서 쫓아내셨느니라. 그러나 너희로 말하건대 이 날까지 아무도 능히 너희 앞에 서지 못하였느니라. 9. For the LORD hath driven out from before you great nations and strong: but as for you, no man hath been able to stand before you unto this day.
10. 너희 중의 한 사람이 천 명의 뒤를 쫓으리니 이는 {주} 너희 하나님 바로 그분께서 너희에게 약속하신 것 같이 너희를 위하여 싸우시기 때문이니라. 10. One man of you shall chase a thousand: for the LORD your God, he it is that fighteth for you, as he hath promised you.
11. 그러므로 너희는 스스로 매우 조심하여 {주} 너희 하나님을 사랑하라. 11. Take good heed therefore unto yourselves, that ye love the LORD your God.
12. 너희가 만일 어떤 식으로든 뒤로 물러가서 너희 가운데 남아 있는 이 민족들의 남은 자들에게 굳게 붙어 그들과 결혼하고 그들에게 들어가며 그들이 너희에게 들어오면 12. Else if ye do in any wise go back, and cleave unto the remnant of these nations, even these that remain among you, and shall make marriages with them, and go in unto them, and they to you:
13. 확실히 이것을 알지니라. 곧 {주} 너희 하나님께서 다시는 이 민족들 중의 어느 민족도 너희 앞에서 쫓아내지 아니하시리니 그들이 너희에게 올무와 덫이 되며 너희 옆구리에 채찍이 되고 너희 눈에 가시가 되어 마침내 {주} 너희 하나님께서 너희에게 주신 이 좋은 땅에서 너희가 멸망하리라. 13. Know for a certainty that the LORD your God will no more drive out any of these nations from before you; but they shall be snares and traps unto you, and scourges in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until ye perish from off this good land which the LORD your God hath given you.
14. 보라, 이 날 나는 온 땅이 가는 길로 가려니와 {주} 너희 하나님께서 너희에 관하여 말씀하신 모든 선한 일 중의 하나도 틀리지 아니하고 다 너희에게 이루어져서 그중의 하나도 틀림이 없음을 너희가 너희의 온 마음과 너희의 온 혼으로 아느니라. 14. And, behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth: and ye know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing hath failed of all the good things which the LORD your God spake concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, and not one thing hath failed thereof.
15. 그러므로 {주} 너희 하나님께서 너희에게 약속하신 모든 선한 일이 너희에게 임한 것 같이 {주}께서 모든 악한 일도 너희에게 임하게 하사 마침내 {주} 너희 하나님께서 너희에게 주신 이 좋은 땅에서 너희를 끊어 멸하시리라. 15. Therefore it shall come to pass, that as all good things are come upon you, which the LORD your God promised you; so shall the LORD bring upon you all evil things, until he have destroyed you from off this good land which the LORD your God hath given you.
16. 너희가 {주} 너희 하나님께서 너희에게 명령하신 그분의 언약을 범하고 가서 다른 신들을 섬기고 그들에게 절하면 {주}의 분노가 너희를 향해 타오르리니 그분께서 너희에게 주신 좋은 땅에서 너희가 끊어져 속히 멸망하리라. 16. When ye have transgressed the covenant of the LORD your God, which he commanded you, and have gone and served other gods, and bowed yourselves to them; then shall the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and ye shall perish quickly from off the good land which he hath given unto you.
1. 여호수아가 이스라엘의 모든 지파를 세겜에 모으고 이스라엘의 장로들과 그들의 우두머리들과 재판관들과 직무 수행자들을 부르매 그들이 자신을 하나님 앞에 보이니라. 1. And Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and called for the elders of Israel, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers; and they presented themselves before God.
2. 여호수아가 온 백성에게 이르되, {주} 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이같이 말씀하시기를, 옛날에 너희 조상들 곧 아브라함의 아버지이자 나홀의 아버지인 데라가 강 저편에 거하며 다른 신들을 섬겼으나 2. And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods.
3. 내가 너희 조상 아브라함을 강 저편에서 취하여 가나안 온 땅으로 두루 인도하고 그의 씨를 번성하게 하며 그에게 이삭을 주었고 3. And I took your father Abraham from the other side of the flood, and led him throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his seed, and gave him Isaac.
4. 이삭에게는 야곱과 에서를 주었으며 에서에게는 세일 산을 소유로 주었노라. 그러나 야곱과 그의 자손은 이집트로 내려갔으므로 4. And I gave unto Isaac Jacob and Esau: and I gave unto Esau mount Seir, to possess it; but Jacob and his children went down into Egypt.
5. 내가 또한 모세와 아론을 보내었고 또 이집트에 재앙을 내렸나니 그것은 곧 내가 그들 가운데서 행한 것과 같았으며 그 뒤에 내가 너희를 데리고 나왔노라. 5. I sent Moses also and Aaron, and I plagued Egypt, according to that which I did among them: and afterward I brought you out.
6. 내가 너희 조상들을 이집트에서 데리고 나왔노라. 너희가 바다에 이르렀는데 이집트 사람들이 병거들과 기병들을 거느리고 너희 조상들을 추격하여 홍해에 이르렀으므로 6. And I brought your fathers out of Egypt: and ye came unto the sea; and the Egyptians pursued after your fathers with chariots and horsemen unto the Red sea.
7. 그들이 {주}에게 부르짖기에 그가 너희와 이집트 사람들 사이에 어둠을 두고 그들 위로 바다를 이끌어 그들을 덮게 하였나니 내가 이집트에서 행한 일을 너희가 눈으로 보았으며 또 너희가 오랫동안 광야에 거하였느니라. 7. And when they cried unto the LORD, he put darkness between you and the Egyptians, and brought the sea upon them, and covered them; and your eyes have seen what I have done in Egypt: and ye dwelt in the wilderness a long season.
8. 내가 또 너희를 요르단 저편에 거하던 아모리 족속의 땅으로 데려가니 그들이 너희와 싸우므로 내가 그들을 너희 손에 넘겨주매 너희가 그들의 땅을 소유하였고 내가 그들을 너희 앞에서 멸하였노라. 8. And I brought you into the land of the Amorites, which dwelt on the other side Jordan; and they fought with you: and I gave them into your hand, that ye might possess their land; and I destroyed them from before you.
9. 그때에 모압 왕 십볼의 아들 발락이 일어나 이스라엘을 대적하여 싸우고 사람을 보내어 브올의 아들 발람을 불러 너희를 저주하게 하였으나 9. Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose and warred against Israel, and sent and called Balaam the son of Beor to curse you:
10. 내가 발람의 말에 귀를 기울이려 하지 아니하였으므로 그가 오히려 너희를 축복하였고 이처럼 내가 너희를 그의 손에서 건져 내었노라. 10. But I would not hearken unto Balaam; therefore he blessed you still: so I delivered you out of his hand.
11. 너희가 요르단을 건너서 여리고에 이른즉 여리고 사람들 곧 아모리 족속과 브리스 족속과 가나안 족속과 헷 족속과 기르가스 족속과 히위 족속과 여부스 족속이 너희와 싸우므로 내가 그들을 너희 손에 넘겨주었고 11. And ye went over Jordan, and came unto Jericho: and the men of Jericho fought against you, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; and I delivered them into your hand.
12. 내가 말벌을 너희 앞에 보내어 그들 곧 아모리 족속의 두 왕을 너희 앞에서 쫓아내게 하였나니 이것은 너희 칼이나 너희 활로 한 것이 아니니라. 12. And I sent the hornet before you, which drave them out from before you, even the two kings of the Amorites; but not with thy sword, nor with thy bow.
13. 또 너희가 수고하지 아니한 땅과 너희가 짓지 아니한 도시들을 내가 너희에게 주었더니 너희가 그것들 가운데 거하며 또 너희가 심지 아니한 포도원과 올리브 밭의 열매를 너희가 먹는도다, 하시느니라. 13. And I have given you a land for which ye did not labour, and cities which ye built not, and ye dwell in them; of the vineyards and oliveyards which ye planted not do ye eat.
14. ¶ 그러므로 이제 {주}를 두려워하며 성실함과 진실함으로 그분을 섬기라. 너희 조상들이 강 저편과 이집트에서 섬기던 다른 신들을 제거하고 너희는 {주}를 섬기라. 14. ¶ Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD.
15. 만일 {주}를 섬기는 것이 너희에게 나쁘게 보이거든 너희 조상들이 강 저편에서 섬기던 신들이든지 혹은 너희가 거하고 있는 땅의 아모리 족속의 신들이든지 너희가 섬길 자를 너희를 위해 이 날 택하라. 그러나 나와 내 집으로 말하건대 우리는 {주}를 섬기겠노라, 하매 15. And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
16. 백성이 응답하여 이르되, 우리가 {주}를 버리고 다른 신들 섬기는 일을 결코 하지 아니하리니 16. And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the LORD, to serve other gods;
17. {주} 우리 하나님은 우리와 우리 조상들을 이집트 땅 속박의 집에서 데리고 올라오시고 우리 눈앞에서 그 큰 표적들을 행하시며 우리가 지나온 모든 길에서와 우리가 통과한 모든 백성들 가운데서 우리를 보존하신 바로 그분이시니이다. 17. For the LORD our God, he it is that brought us up and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and which did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the people through whom we passed:
18. {주}께서 모든 백성 곧 이 땅에 거하던 아모리 족속을 우리 앞에서 쫓아내셨나이다. 그런즉 우리도 {주}를 섬기리니 그분은 우리의 하나님이시니이다, 하니라. 18. And the LORD drave out from before us all the people, even the Amorites which dwelt in the land: therefore will we also serve the LORD; for he is our God.
19. 여호수아가 백성에게 이르되, 너희가 능히 {주}를 섬기지 못하리니 그분은 거룩한 하나님이시요, 질투하는 하나님이시므로 너희 범법과 죄들을 용서하지 아니하시리라. 19. And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve the LORD: for he is an holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins.
20. 만일 너희가 {주}를 버리고 이방 신들을 섬기면 그분께서 너희에게 선을 행하신 뒤에라도 돌이키사 너희를 해하시고 너희를 멸하시리라, 하니 20. If ye forsake the LORD, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he hath done you good.
21. 백성이 여호수아에게 이르되, 아니니이다. 우리가 {주}를 섬기겠나이다, 하매 21. And the people said unto Joshua, Nay; but we will serve the LORD.
22. 여호수아가 백성에게 이르되, 너희가 너희를 위해 {주}를 택하고 그분을 섬기리라 한 것에 대해 너희가 너희 자신에게 증인이 되었느니라, 하매 그들이 이르되, 우리가 증인이 되었나이다, 하니라. 22. And Joshua said unto the people, Ye are witnesses against yourselves that ye have chosen you the LORD, to serve him. And they said, We are witnesses.
23. 그가 이르되, 그런즉 이제 너희 가운데 있는 이방 신들을 제거하고 너희 마음을 {주} 이스라엘의 하나님께로 향하게 하라, 하니 23. Now therefore put away, said he, the strange gods which are among you, and incline your heart unto the LORD God of Israel.
24. 백성이 여호수아에게 이르되, {주} 우리 하나님을 우리가 섬기고 그분의 음성에 우리가 순종하리이다, 하므로 24. And the people said unto Joshua, The LORD our God will we serve, and his voice will we obey.
25. 그 날에 여호수아가 세겜에서 백성과 언약을 맺고 그들을 위하여 법규와 규례를 세우니라. 25. So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and set them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem.
26. ¶ 여호수아가 이 말씀들을 하나님의 율법 책에 기록하고 큰 돌을 가져다가 거기서 {주}의 성소 옆에 있던 상수리나무 밑에 세우며 26. ¶ And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God, and took a great stone, and set it up there under an oak, that was by the sanctuary of the LORD.
27. 온 백성에게 이르되, 보라, 이 돌이 우리에게 증거가 되리니 {주}께서 우리에게 하신 그분의 모든 말씀을 이 돌이 들었느니라. 그런즉 너희가 너희 하나님을 부인하지 못하도록 이 돌이 너희에게 증거가 되리라, 하고 27. And Joshua said unto all the people, Behold, this stone shall be a witness unto us; for it hath heard all the words of the LORD which he spake unto us: it shall be therefore a witness unto you, lest ye deny your God.
28. 이처럼 여호수아가 백성을 떠나가게 하매 각 사람이 자기의 상속 재산으로 돌아가니라. 28. So Joshua let the people depart, every man unto his inheritance.
29. ¶ 이 일들 뒤에 {주}의 종 눈의 아들 여호수아가 백십 세에 죽으매 29. ¶ And it came to pass after these things, that Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being an hundred and ten years old.
30. 그들이 그를 딤낫세라에 있는 그의 상속 재산의 경계 안에 묻었는데 딤낫세라는 에브라임 산에 있으며 가아스 산 북쪽 편에 있느니라. 30. And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnath-serah, which is in mount Ephraim, on the north side of the hill of Gaash.
31. 이스라엘이 여호수아가 사는 모든 날 동안과 여호수아보다 더 오래 산 장로들 곧 {주}께서 이스라엘을 위하여 행하신바 그분의 모든 일을 안 자들이 사는 모든 날 동안 {주}를 섬겼더라. 31. And Israel served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that overlived Joshua, and which had known all the works of the LORD, that he had done for Israel.
32. ¶ 이스라엘 자손이 이집트에서 가져온 요셉의 뼈를 세겜에 곧 야곱이 세겜의 아버지 하몰의 아들들로부터 은 백 개를 주고 산 땅에 묻었더라. 그것이 요셉 자손의 상속 재산이 되었더라. 32. ¶ And the bones of Joseph, which the children of Israel brought up out of Egypt, buried they in Shechem, in a parcel of ground which Jacob bought of the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for an hundred pieces of silver: and it became the inheritance of the children of Joseph.
33. 아론의 아들 엘르아살도 죽으매 그들이 그를 그의 아들 비느하스에게 속한 산에 묻었는데 이 산은 에브라임 산에서 그에게 준 것이었더라. 33. And Eleazar the son of Aaron died; and they buried him in a hill that pertained to Phinehas his son, which was given him in mount Ephraim.
