룻기
1. 이제 재판관들이 다스리던 때에 땅에 기근이 드니라. 베들레헴유다의 어떤 사람이 자기 아내와 두 아들을 데리고 모압 지방에 가서 머물렀는데 1. Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Beth-lehem-judah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons.
2. 그 사람의 이름은 엘리멜렉이요, 그의 아내의 이름은 나오미며 그의 두 아들의 이름은 말론과 기룐이더라. 이들은 베들레헴유다의 에브랏 사람들이더라. 그들이 모압 지방에 들어가 거기에 계속해서 머물렀는데 2. And the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife Naomi, and the name of his two sons Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Beth-lehem-judah. And they came into the country of Moab, and continued there.
3. 나오미의 남편 엘리멜렉이 죽고 나오미와 그녀의 두 아들이 남았더라. 3. And Elimelech Naomi's husband died; and she was left, and her two sons.
4. 그들이 모압 여인들 중에서 아내를 취하였는데 하나의 이름은 오르바요, 다른 하나의 이름은 룻이더라. 그들이 거기서 십 년쯤 거하였을 때에 4. And they took them wives of the women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth: and they dwelled there about ten years.
5. 말론과 기룐 두 사람도 다 죽고 그 여인은 자기의 두 아들과 남편의 뒤에 남았더라. 5. And Mahlon and Chilion died also both of them; and the woman was left of her two sons and her husband.
6. ¶ 그때에 그녀가 {주}께서 자신의 백성을 돌아보사 그들에게 빵을 주셨다는 것을 모압 지방에서 들었으므로 모압 지방에서 돌아오려고 자기의 며느리들과 함께 일어나니라. 6. ¶ Then she arose with her daughters in law, that she might return from the country of Moab: for she had heard in the country of Moab how that the LORD had visited his people in giving them bread.
7. 그러므로 그녀가 자기가 있던 곳에서 나와 떠나매 그녀의 두 며느리도 그녀와 함께하더라. 그들이 유다 땅으로 돌아오려고 길을 갈 때에 7. Wherefore she went forth out of the place where she was, and her two daughters in law with her; and they went on the way to return unto the land of Judah.
8. 나오미가 자기의 두 며느리에게 이르되, 가서 각각 자기 어머니 집으로 돌아가라. 너희가 죽은 자와 나를 친절히 대한 것 같이 {주}께서 너희를 친절히 대하시기를 원하며 8. And Naomi said unto her two daughters in law, Go, return each to her mother's house: the LORD deal kindly with you, as ye have dealt with the dead, and with me.
9. {주}께서 너희가 각각 자기 남편의 집에서 안식을 얻게 하시기를 원하노라, 하고 그들에게 입을 맞추매 그들이 소리 높여 울며 9. The LORD grant you that ye may find rest, each of you in the house of her husband. Then she kissed them; and they lifted up their voice, and wept.
10. 그녀에게 이르되, 우리가 반드시 어머니와 함께 어머니의 백성에게로 돌아가겠나이다, 하니라. 10. And they said unto her, Surely we will return with thee unto thy people.
11. 나오미가 이르되, 되돌아가라. 내 딸들아, 너희가 어찌하여 나와 함께 가려 하느냐? 아직도 내 태에 아들들이 있어서 그들이 너희 남편이 되겠느냐? 11. And Naomi said, Turn again, my daughters: why will ye go with me? are there yet any more sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands?
12. 되돌아가라. 내 딸들아, 너희 길로 갈지어다. 나는 너무 늙어서 남편을 두지 못하노라. 가령 내가 소망이 있다고 말하거나 혹은 오늘 밤에 남편을 두어 아들들을 낳는다 하자. 12. Turn again, my daughters, go your way; for I am too old to have an husband. If I should say, I have hope, if I should have an husband also to night, and should also bear sons;
13. 그들이 자랄 때까지 너희가 그들을 기다리려느냐? 그들로 인하여 너희가 남편 두기를 멈추겠느냐? 내 딸들아, 아니라. {주}의 손이 나와서 나를 치셨으므로 내가 너희로 인해 심히 괴롭도다, 하매 13. Would ye tarry for them till they were grown? would ye stay for them from having husbands? nay, my daughters; for it grieveth me much for your sakes that the hand of the LORD is gone out against me.
14. 그들이 소리 높여 다시 울더라. 오르바는 자기 시어머니에게 입을 맞추되 룻은 그녀에게 굳게 붙으므로 14. And they lifted up their voice, and wept again: and Orpah kissed her mother in law; but Ruth clave unto her.
15. 그녀가 또 이르되, 보라, 네 동서는 자기 백성과 자기 신들에게로 돌아갔나니 너도 네 동서를 따라 돌아가라, 하매 15. And she said, Behold, thy sister in law is gone back unto her people, and unto her gods: return thou after thy sister in law.
16. 룻이 이르되, 나보고 어머니를 떠나며 어머니를 따르지 말고 돌아가라고 강권하지 마소서. 어머니께서 가시는 곳에 나도 가고 어머니께서 머무시는 곳에 나도 머물리이다. 어머니의 백성이 내 백성이 되고 어머니의 하나님이 내 하나님이 되시리니 16. And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:
17. 어머니께서 죽는 곳에서 나도 죽어 거기 묻힐 것이니이다. 만일 죽는 일 외에 어떤 다른 것이 나와 어머니를 갈라놓으면 {주}께서 내게 벌을 내리시고 더 내리시기를 원하나이다, 하매 17. Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.
18. 그녀가 자기와 함께 가기로 굳게 결심한 것을 보고 나오미가 그녀에게 말하기를 그치니라. 18. When she saw that she was stedfastly minded to go with her, then she left speaking unto her.
19. ¶ 이에 그들 둘이 가서 마침내 베들레헴에 이르렀더니 그들이 베들레헴에 이를 때에 온 도시가 그들로 인해 흥분하여 말하기를, 이 사람이 나오미냐? 하므로 19. ¶ So they two went until they came to Beth-lehem. And it came to pass, when they were come to Beth-lehem, that all the city was moved about them, and they said, Is this Naomi?
20. 그녀가 그들에게 이르되, 나를 나오미라 부르지 말고 마라라 부르라. [전능자]께서 나를 심히 괴롭게 하셨느니라. 20. And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me.
21. 내가 풍족하게 나갔으나 {주}께서 나를 빈손으로 집에 다시 오게 하셨느니라. {주}께서 나를 대적하는 증거를 보이셨고 [전능자]께서 나를 괴롭게 하셨거늘 너희가 어찌하여 나를 나오미라 부르느냐? 하니라. 21. I went out full, and the LORD hath brought me home again empty: why then call ye me Naomi, seeing the LORD hath testified against me, and the Almighty hath afflicted me?
22. 이같이 나오미가 모압 지방에서 돌아온 자기 며느리 모압 여인 룻과 함께 돌아왔더라. 그들이 보리 수확을 시작할 때에 베들레헴에 이르렀더라. 22. So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter in law, with her, which returned out of the country of Moab: and they came to Beth-lehem in the beginning of barley harvest.
1. 나오미에게는 그녀의 남편 엘리멜렉의 가족에 속한 친족으로 부유하고 강력한 자가 있었는데 그의 이름은 보아스더라. 1. And Naomi had a kinsman of her husband's, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech; and his name was Boaz.
2. 모압 여인 룻이 나오미에게 이르되, 이제 내가 밭에 가도록 허락하소서. 내가 누구의 눈앞에서 은혜를 입으면 그를 따라가며 곡식 이삭을 줍겠나이다, 하니 나오미가 그녀에게 이르되, 내 딸아, 갈지어다, 하매 2. And Ruth the Moabitess said unto Naomi, Let me now go to the field, and glean ears of corn after him in whose sight I shall find grace. And she said unto her, Go, my daughter.
3. 그녀가 가서 밭에 이르러 곡식 베는 자들을 따라가며 이삭을 줍다가 우연히 엘리멜렉의 친족인 보아스에게 속한 밭의 일부를 만나니라. 3. And she went, and came, and gleaned in the field after the reapers: and her hap was to light on a part of the field belonging unto Boaz, who was of the kindred of Elimelech.
4. ¶ 보라, 마침 보아스가 베들레헴에서 와서 곡식 베는 자들에게 이르되, {주}께서 너희와 함께하시기를 원하노라, 하니 그들이 그에게 응답하되, {주}께서 당신에게 복주시기를 원하나이다, 하거늘 4. ¶ And, behold, Boaz came from Beth-lehem, and said unto the reapers, The LORD be with you. And they answered him, The LORD bless thee.
5. 그때에 보아스가 곡식 베는 자들을 감독하는 자기 종에게 이르되, 이 사람은 누구의 젊은 여자냐? 하니 5. Then said Boaz unto his servant that was set over the reapers, Whose damsel is this?
6. 곡식 베는 자들을 감독하는 종이 대답하여 이르되, 그 사람은 나오미와 함께 모압 지방에서 돌아온 모압 출신의 젊은 여자이온데 6. And the servant that was set over the reapers answered and said, It is the Moabitish damsel that came back with Naomi out of the country of Moab:
7. 그녀가 말하기를, 청하건대 내가 곡식 베는 자들을 따라가며 곡식 단 사이에서 이삭을 주워 모으게 하소서, 하였고 이처럼 와서 아침부터 지금까지 잠시 집에서 쉰 것 외에는 계속 줍고 있나이다, 하니라. 7. And she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves: so she came, and hath continued even from the morning until now, that she tarried a little in the house.
8. 그때에 보아스가 룻에게 이르되, 내 딸아, 네가 듣지 아니하느냐? 이삭을 주우러 다른 밭으로 가거나 여기를 떠나지 말며 여기에 내 소녀들 옆에 가까이 있으라. 8. Then said Boaz unto Ruth, Hearest thou not, my daughter? Go not to glean in another field, neither go from hence, but abide here fast by my maidens:
9. 또 그들이 거두는 밭에 눈을 두고 그들을 따라서 가라. 내가 청년들에게 명하여 너를 건드리지 말라 하지 아니하였느냐? 목이 마르거든 그릇에 가서 청년들이 길어 온 것을 마실지니라, 하니 9. Let thine eyes be on the field that they do reap, and go thou after them: have I not charged the young men that they shall not touch thee? and when thou art athirst, go unto the vessels, and drink of that which the young men have drawn.
10. 이에 그녀가 땅에 얼굴을 대고 엎드려 절하며 그에게 이르되, 나는 타국인이온데 어찌하여 당신의 눈에 은혜를 입게 하시며 나를 알아주시나이까? 하매 10. Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said unto him, Why have I found grace in thine eyes, that thou shouldest take knowledge of me, seeing I am a stranger?
11. 보아스가 그녀에게 대답하여 이르되, 네 남편이 죽은 뒤에 네가 네 시어머니에게 행한 모든 것과 또 네가 네 아버지와 어머니와 모국을 떠나서 지금까지 알지 못하던 백성에게로 온 일을 내가 분명히 보았느니라. 11. And Boaz answered and said unto her, It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband: and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore.
12. {주}께서 네가 행한 일에 보답해 주시기를 원하며 {주} 이스라엘의 하나님께서 자신의 날개 아래로 의지하러 온 네게 충분히 보상해 주시기를 원하노라, 하거늘 12. The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.
13. 그때에 그녀가 이르되, 내 주여, 내가 당신의 눈앞에서 호의를 얻기 원하나이다. 내가 당신의 여종들 중의 하나와도 같지 못하오나 당신이 나를 위로하시고 당신의 여종에게 친절히 말씀하셨나이다, 하니라. 13. Then she said, Let me find favour in thy sight, my lord; for that thou hast comforted me, and for that thou hast spoken friendly unto thine handmaid, though I be not like unto one of thine handmaidens.
14. 보아스가 그녀에게 이르되, 식사할 때에 너는 이리로 와서 빵을 먹으며 네 빵 조각을 식초에 찍으라, 하니 그녀가 곡식 베는 자들 옆에 앉으매 그가 그녀에게 볶은 곡식을 건네주니 그녀가 배불리 먹고 남겼더라. 14. And Boaz said unto her, At mealtime come thou hither, and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the vinegar. And she sat beside the reapers: and he reached her parched corn, and she did eat, and was sufficed, and left.
15. 그녀가 이삭을 주우러 일어날 때에 보아스가 자기 청년들에게 명령하여 이르되, 그녀가 곡식 단 사이에서 줍게 하고 그녀를 책망하지 말라. 15. And when she was risen up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, Let her glean even among the sheaves, and reproach her not:
16. 또 그녀를 위해 손에 쥔 것에서 의도적으로 얼마를 떨어뜨리고 그것들을 남겨 두어 그녀가 줍게 하며 그녀를 꾸짖지 말라, 하니라. 16. And let fall also some of the handfuls of purpose for her, and leave them, that she may glean them, and rebuke her not.
17. 이처럼 그녀가 밭에서 저녁까지 줍고 자기가 주운 것을 떠니 보리가 일 에바쯤 되었더라. 17. So she gleaned in the field until even, and beat out that she had gleaned: and it was about an ephah of barley.
18. ¶ 룻이 그것을 가지고 도시로 들어가 자기 시어머니에게 자기가 주운 것을 보이고 자기가 배불리 먹고 남긴 것을 가져다가 시어머니에게 드리매 18. ¶ And she took it up, and went into the city: and her mother in law saw what she had gleaned: and she brought forth, and gave to her that she had reserved after she was sufficed.
19. 그녀의 시어머니가 그녀에게 이르되, 네가 오늘 어디에서 주웠느냐? 어디에서 일을 하였느냐? 너를 알아준 자에게 복이 있기를 원하노라, 하니 그녀가 자기가 누구와 함께 일했는지 자기 시어머니에게 알리고 이르되, 오늘 나와 함께 일한 사람의 이름은 보아스이니이다, 하매 19. And her mother in law said unto her, Where hast thou gleaned to day? and where wroughtest thou? blessed be he that did take knowledge of thee. And she shewed her mother in law with whom she had wrought, and said, The man's name with whom I wrought to day is Boaz.
20. 나오미가 자기 며느리에게 이르되, {주}께서 그에게 복 주시기를 원하노라. 그가 산 자와 죽은 자에게 친절 베풀기를 그치지 아니하였도다, 하고 나오미가 또 그녀에게 이르되, 그 사람은 우리의 가까운 친척이요, 우리의 가까운 친족 중 하나이니라, 하니라. 20. And Naomi said unto her daughter in law, Blessed be he of the LORD, who hath not left off his kindness to the living and to the dead. And Naomi said unto her, The man is near of kin unto us, one of our next kinsmen.
21. 모압 여인 룻이 이르되, 그가 또 내게 말하기를, 내 청년들이 내 모든 수확물을 거둘 때까지 너는 그들 옆에 바싹 붙어 있으라, 하더이다, 하매 21. And Ruth the Moabitess said, He said unto me also, Thou shalt keep fast by my young men, until they have ended all my harvest.
22. 나오미가 자기 며느리 룻에게 이르되, 내 딸아, 네가 그의 소녀들과 함께 나감으로써 그들이 다른 밭에서 너를 만나지 아니하게 하는 것이 좋으니라, 하니 22. And Naomi said unto Ruth her daughter in law, It is good, my daughter, that thou go out with his maidens, that they meet thee not in any other field.
23. 이에 그녀가 보아스의 소녀들 옆에 바싹 붙어 있으며 보리 수확과 밀 수확을 끝마칠 때까지 이삭을 줍고 자기 시어머니와 함께 거하니라. 23. So she kept fast by the maidens of Boaz to glean unto the end of barley harvest and of wheat harvest; and dwelt with her mother in law.
1. 그때에 룻의 시어머니 나오미가 그녀에게 이르되, 내 딸아, 내가 너를 위해 안식할 곳을 구하여 네가 잘되게 하여야 하지 아니하겠느냐? 1. Then Naomi her mother in law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee?
2. 너와 함께하던 소녀들을 둔 보아스는 이제 우리의 친족이 아니냐? 보라, 그가 오늘 밤에 타작마당에서 보리를 까부르리라. 2. And now is not Boaz of our kindred, with whose maidens thou wast? Behold, he winnoweth barley to night in the threshingfloor.
3. 그런즉 너는 몸을 씻고 기름을 바르고 의복을 입고 타작마당으로 내려가되 그 사람이 먹고 마시기를 다할 때까지 그에게 네 자신을 알리지 말며 3. Wash thyself therefore, and anoint thee, and put thy raiment upon thee, and get thee down to the floor: but make not thyself known unto the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking.
4. 그가 누울 때에 눕는 곳을 알아두었다가 들어가서 그의 발을 드러내고 누우라. 네가 해야 할 일을 그가 네게 고하리라, 하니 4. And it shall be, when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thee down; and he will tell thee what thou shalt do.
5. 그녀가 시어머니에게 이르되, 어머니께서 말씀하시는 모든 것을 내가 행하리이다, 하니라. 5. And she said unto her, All that thou sayest unto me I will do.
6. ¶ 그녀가 타작마당으로 내려가서 자기 시어머니가 자기에게 명한 모든 것에 따라 행하니라. 6. ¶ And she went down unto the floor, and did according to all that her mother in law bade her.
7. 보아스가 먹고 마시고 마음이 즐거울 때에 가서 곡식더미 끝에 누우매 그녀가 가만히 가서 그의 발을 드러내고 누웠더라. 7. And when Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of corn: and she came softly, and uncovered his feet, and laid her down.
8. ¶ 한밤중에 그 사람이 두려워서 몸을 돌이킨즉, 보라, 한 여인이 자기 발치에 누웠으므로 8. ¶ And it came to pass at midnight, that the man was afraid, and turned himself: and, behold, a woman lay at his feet.
9. 그가 이르되, 너는 누구냐? 하매 그녀가 대답하되, 나는 당신의 여종 룻이오니 그러므로 당신의 옷자락으로 당신의 여종을 덮으소서. 당신은 가까운 친족이니이다, 하매 9. And he said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth thine handmaid: spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid; for thou art a near kinsman.
10. 그가 이르되, 내 딸아, {주}께서 네게 복주시기를 원하노라. 네가 가난하든지 부하든지 젊은 남자를 따르지 아니함으로 네가 처음보다 마지막 끝에 친절을 더 많이 베풀었도다. 10. And he said, Blessed be thou of the LORD, my daughter: for thou hast shewed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, whether poor or rich.
11. 내 딸아, 이제 두려워하지 말라. 네가 요구하는 모든 것을 내가 네게 행하리니 네가 현숙한 여자인 줄 내 백성의 온 도시가 아느니라. 11. And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.
12. 참으로 이제 나는 너의 가까운 친족이나 나보다 더 가까운 친족이 있으니 12. And now it is true that I am thy near kinsman: howbeit there is a kinsman nearer than I.
13. 이 밤은 여기서 머무르라. 아침에 그가 친족의 역할을 네게 행하려 하면 좋은 일이니 그가 친족의 역할을 행하려니와 만일 그가 네게 친족의 역할을 행하려 하지 아니하면 {주}께서 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하노니 내가 네게 친족의 역할을 행하리라. 아침까지 누울지니라, 하니라. 13. Tarry this night, and it shall be in the morning, that if he will perform unto thee the part of a kinsman, well; let him do the kinsman's part: but if he will not do the part of a kinsman to thee, then will I do the part of a kinsman to thee, as the LORD liveth: lie down until the morning.
14. ¶ 룻이 아침까지 그의 발치에 누웠다가 사람이 서로 알아보기 전에 일어나매 보아스가 이르되, 여인이 타작마당에 들어온 것을 사람이 알지 못하여야 하리라, 하고 14. ¶ And she lay at his feet until the morning: and she rose up before one could know another. And he said, Let it not be known that a woman came into the floor.
15. 또 그가 이르되, 너를 덮는 너울을 가져다가 그것을 잡으라, 하매 그녀가 그것을 잡으니 그가 보리를 여섯 번 되어 룻에게 이워 주매 그녀가 도시로 들어가니라. 15. Also he said, Bring the vail that thou hast upon thee, and hold it. And when she held it, he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her: and she went into the city.
16. 룻이 자기 시어머니에게 가니 그녀가 이르되, 내 딸아, 너는 누구냐? 하매 그녀가 그 사람이 자기에게 행한 모든 것을 그녀에게 고하고 16. And when she came to her mother in law, she said, Who art thou, my daughter? And she told her all that the man had done to her.
17. 이르되, 그가 내게 이 보리를 여섯 번 되어 주었나이다. 그가 말하기를, 빈손으로 네 시어머니에게 가지 말라, 하였나이다, 하매 17. And she said, These six measures of barley gave he me; for he said to me, Go not empty unto thy mother in law.
18. 이에 그녀가 이르되, 내 딸아, 이 일이 어떻게 될지 네가 알 때까지 가만히 앉아 있으라. 그 사람이 이 날 그 일을 끝마치기 전에는 안식하지 아니하리라, 하니라. 18. Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.
1. 그때에 보아스가 성문에 올라가서 거기 앉았는데, 보라, 보아스가 말하던 친족이 지나가므로 그가 그에게 이르되, 어이, 아무개여! 돌이켜서 이리로 와서 앉으라, 하니 그가 돌이켜서 앉더라. 1. Then went Boaz up to the gate, and sat him down there: and, behold, the kinsman of whom Boaz spake came by; unto whom he said, Ho, such a one! turn aside, sit down here. And he turned aside, and sat down.
2. 또 그가 도시의 장로 열 명을 데려다가 이르되, 당신들은 여기 앉으라, 하니 그들이 앉더라. 2. And he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, Sit ye down here. And they sat down.
3. 그가 그 친족에게 이르되, 모압 지방에서 되돌아온 나오미가 우리 형제 엘리멜렉의 땅을 팔므로 3. And he said unto the kinsman, Naomi, that is come again out of the country of Moab, selleth a parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech's:
4. 내가 내 백성의 장로들 앞과 거주민들 앞에서 그것을 사라고 말하여 네게 알려 주려고 생각하였노라. 네가 그것을 무르려면 무르려니와 네가 무르지 아니하려거든 내게 고하여 내가 알게 하라. 너 외에는 그것을 무를 자가 없으며 너 다음은 나니라, 하매 그가 이르되, 내가 그것을 무르리라, 하니 4. And I thought to advertise thee, saying, Buy it before the inhabitants, and before the elders of my people. If thou wilt redeem it, redeem it: but if thou wilt not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know: for there is none to redeem it beside thee; and I am after thee. And he said, I will redeem it.
5. 그때에 보아스가 이르되, 네가 나오미의 손에서 그 밭을 사는 날에는 죽은 자의 아내인 모압 여인 룻에게서도 반드시 그것을 사서 그 죽은 자의 상속 재산을 위하여 그의 이름을 일으켜야 할지니라, 하니라. 5. Then said Boaz, What day thou buyest the field of the hand of Naomi, thou must buy it also of Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance.
6. ¶ 그 친족이 이르되, 나는 내 상속 재산에 손해가 있을까 염려하여 나를 위해 그것을 무를 수 없나니 나의 무를 권리를 네가 취하라. 나는 그것을 무를 수 없노라, 하니라. 6. ¶ And the kinsman said, I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I mar mine own inheritance: redeem thou my right to thyself; for I cannot redeem it.
7. 그런데 예전에 이스라엘에서는 무르거나 교환하는 일에서 모든 것을 확정하기 위하여 사람이 자기 신을 벗어 자기 이웃에게 주는 관습이 있었는데 이것이 이스라엘에서 증거가 되었더라. 7. Now this was the manner in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning changing, for to confirm all things; a man plucked off his shoe, and gave it to his neighbour: and this was a testimony in Israel.
8. 그러므로 그 친족이 보아스에게 이르기를, 네가 너를 위해 그것을 사라, 하고 그처럼 자기 신을 벗으니라. 8. Therefore the kinsman said unto Boaz, Buy it for thee. So he drew off his shoe.
9. ¶ 보아스가 장로들과 온 백성에게 이르되, 내가 엘리멜렉에게 있던 모든 것과 기룐과 말론에게 있던 모든 것을 나오미의 손에서 산 일에 관하여 너희가 이 날 증인이 되었고 9. ¶ And Boaz said unto the elders, and unto all the people, Ye are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech's, and all that was Chilion's and Mahlon's, of the hand of Naomi.
10. 또 내가 말론의 아내 모압 여인 룻을 사서 내 아내로 삼고 그 죽은 자의 상속 재산을 위하여 그의 이름을 일으켜서 죽은 자의 이름이 그의 형제들 가운데서와 그의 처소의 성문에서 끊어지지 않게 하였으니 너희가 이 날 증인이 되었느니라, 하매 10. Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place: ye are witnesses this day.
11. 성문 안에 있던 온 백성과 장로들이 이르되, 우리가 증인이 되었나니 {주}께서 네 집에 들어간 여인으로 하여금 이스라엘의 집을 세운 라헬과 레아 두 사람 같게 하시기를 원하노라. 네가 에브라다에서 훌륭하게 행하고 베들레헴에서 유명하게 될지니라. 11. And all the people that were in the gate, and the elders, said, We are witnesses. The LORD make the woman that is come into thine house like Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel: and do thou worthily in Ephratah, and be famous in Beth-lehem:
12. {주}께서 이 젊은 여자로부터 네게 씨를 주사 네 집이 다말이 유다에게 낳아 준 베레스의 집과 같게 하시기를 원하노라, 하니라. 12. And let thy house be like the house of Pharez, whom Tamar bare unto Judah, of the seed which the LORD shall give thee of this young woman.
13. ¶ 이에 보아스가 룻을 취하여 자기 아내로 삼고 그녀에게로 들어가니 {주}께서 그녀를 수태하게 하시므로 그녀가 아들을 낳으매 13. ¶ So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in unto her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bare a son.
14. 여인들이 나오미에게 이르되, {주}를 찬송할지로다. 그분께서 이 날 너를 친족이 없게 내버려 두지 아니하셨도다. 그의 이름이 이스라엘에서 유명하게 되기를 원하노라. 14. And the women said unto Naomi, Blessed be the LORD, which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel.
15. 그가 네게 생명의 회복자가 되며 네 노년에 봉양할 자가 되리니 너를 사랑하며 네게 일곱 아들보다 더 나은 네 며느리가 그를 낳았도다, 하니라. 15. And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath born him.
16. 나오미가 아기를 취하여 품에 품고 그의 보모가 되매 16. And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse unto it.
17. 그녀의 이웃 여인들이 그 아이에게 이름을 주며 이르되, 나오미에게 아들이 태어났다, 하여 그의 이름을 오벳이라 하였는데 그는 다윗의 아버지인 이새의 아버지이니라. 17. And the women her neighbours gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David.
18. ¶ 이제 베레스의 세대는 이러하니라. 베레스는 헤스론을 낳았고 18. ¶ Now these are the generations of Pharez: Pharez begat Hezron,
19. 헤스론은 람을 낳았고 람은 암미나답을 낳았고 19. And Hezron begat Ram, and Ram begat Amminadab,
20. 암미나답은 나손을 낳았고 나손은 살몬을 낳았고 20. And Amminadab begat Nahshon, and Nahshon begat Salmon,
21. 살몬은 보아스를 낳았고 보아스는 오벳을 낳았고 21. And Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed,
22. 오벳은 이새를 낳았고 이새는 다윗을 낳았더라. 22. And Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.
