1. 이제 페르시아 왕 고레스의 제일년에 {주}께서 예레미야의 입으로 하신 {주}의 말씀을 이루시려고 페르시아 왕 고레스의 영을 움직이시매 그가 자기의 온 왕국에 두루 선포하고 또 그것을 글로도 기록하여 이르되, 1. Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,
2. 페르시아 왕 고레스가 이같이 말하노라. {주} 하늘의 하나님께서 땅의 모든 왕국을 내게 주시고 또 내게 명하사 유다에 있는 예루살렘에 자신을 위해 집을 건축하게 하셨나니 2. Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.
3. 그분의 모든 백성 중에서 너희 가운데 거하는 자가 누구냐? 그의 하나님께서 그와 함께 계시기를 원하노니 그는 유다에 있는 예루살렘으로 올라가 {주} 이스라엘의 하나님의 집을 건축하라. (그분은 하나님이시요,) 그분의 집은 예루살렘에 있느니라. 3. Who is there among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the LORD God of Israel, (he is the God,) which is in Jerusalem.
4. 남은 자가 누구든지 그가 머물던 모든 곳에서 그의 처소 사람들이 은과 금과 물건과 짐승으로 그를 도와주고 그 외에도 예루살렘에 있는 하나님의 집을 위하여 자원 헌물을 드릴지니라, 하였더라. 4. And whosoever remaineth in any place where he sojourneth, let the men of his place help him with silver, and with gold, and with goods, and with beasts, beside the freewill offering for the house of God that is in Jerusalem.
5. ¶ 그때에 유다와 베냐민의 아버지들의 우두머리들과 제사장들과 레위 사람들과 또 하나님께서 영을 일으켜 주신 모든 사람들이 올라가 예루살렘에 있는 {주}의 집을 건축하려고 일어나니 5. ¶ Then rose up the chief of the fathers of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests, and the Levites, with all them whose spirit God had raised, to go up to build the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem.
6. 그들 주변의 모든 사람들이 자원하여 드린 모든 것 외에도 은그릇과 금과 물건과 짐승과 귀한 것들로 그들의 손을 강하게 하였더라. 6. And all they that were about them strengthened their hands with vessels of silver, with gold, with goods, and with beasts, and with precious things, beside all that was willingly offered.
7. ¶ 또한 고레스 왕이 {주}의 집의 기구들을 내놓았는데 그것들은 전에 느부갓네살이 예루살렘에서 옮겨다가 자기 신들의 집에 두었던 것이더라. 7. ¶ Also Cyrus the king brought forth the vessels of the house of the LORD, which Nebuchadnezzar had brought forth out of Jerusalem, and had put them in the house of his gods;
8. 페르시아 왕 고레스가 재무관 미드르닷의 손으로 바로 그것들을 내놓게 하고 그것들의 수효를 세어 유다의 통치자 세스바살에게 주었는데 8. Even those did Cyrus king of Persia bring forth by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer, and numbered them unto Sheshbazzar, the prince of Judah.
9. 그것들의 수효는 이러하니라. 금 쟁반이 서른 개요, 은 쟁반이 천 개요, 칼이 스물아홉 개요, 9. And this is the number of them: thirty chargers of gold, a thousand chargers of silver, nine and twenty knives,
10. 금 대야가 서른 개요, 또 둘째 종류의 은 대야가 사백열 개요, 다른 그릇이 천 개니라. 10. Thirty basons of gold, silver basons of a second sort four hundred and ten, and other vessels a thousand.
11. 금 그릇과 은그릇이 모두 오천사백 개더라. 세스바살이 포로로 사로잡힌 자들을 바빌론에서 예루살렘으로 데리고 갈 때에 이 모든 것을 가지고 갔더라. 11. All the vessels of gold and of silver were five thousand and four hundred. All these did Sheshbazzar bring up with them of the captivity that were brought up from Babylon unto Jerusalem.
1. 전에 사로잡혀 간 자들 곧 바빌론 왕 느부갓네살이 사로잡아 바빌론으로 끌고 간 자들 중에서 포로 생활을 벗어나 올라가서 예루살렘과 유다로 돌아와 각각 자기 도시에 이른 유다 지방의 자손들이 이제 이러하니라. 1. Now these are the children of the province that went up out of the captivity, of those which had been carried away, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away unto Babylon, and came again unto Jerusalem and Judah, every one unto his city;
2. 이들이 스룹바벨과 예수아와 느헤미야와 스라야와 르엘라야와 모르드개와 빌산과 미스발과 비그왜와 르훔과 바아나와 함께 나왔더라. 이스라엘 백성 사람들의 수가 이러하니 2. Which came with Zerubbabel: Jeshua, Nehemiah, Seraiah, Reelaiah, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mizpar, Bigvai, Rehum, Baanah. The number of the men of the people of Israel:
3. 바로스 자손이 이천백칠십이 명이요, 3. The children of Parosh, two thousand an hundred seventy and two.
4. 스바댜 자손이 삼백칠십이 명이요, 4. The children of Shephatiah, three hundred seventy and two.
5. 아라 자손이 칠백칠십오 명이요, 5. The children of Arah, seven hundred seventy and five.
6. 바핫모압 자손 곧 예수아와 요압 자손 중에서 이천팔백십이 명이요, 6. The children of Pahath-moab, of the children of Jeshua and Joab, two thousand eight hundred and twelve.
7. 엘람 자손이 천이백오십사 명이요, 7. The children of Elam, a thousand two hundred fifty and four.
8. 삿두 자손이 구백사십오 명이요, 8. The children of Zattu, nine hundred forty and five.
9. 삭개 자손이 칠백육십 명이요, 9. The children of Zaccai, seven hundred and threescore.
10. 바니 자손이 육백사십이 명이요, 10. The children of Bani, six hundred forty and two.
11. 브배 자손이 육백이십삼 명이요, 11. The children of Bebai, six hundred twenty and three.
12. 아스갓 자손이 천이백이십이 명이요, 12. The children of Azgad, a thousand two hundred twenty and two.
13. 아도니감 자손이 육백육십육 명이요, 13. The children of Adonikam, six hundred sixty and six.
14. 비그왜 자손이 이천오십육 명이요, 14. The children of Bigvai, two thousand fifty and six.
15. 아딘 자손이 사백오십사 명이요, 15. The children of Adin, four hundred fifty and four.
16. 아델 자손 곧 히스기야 자손이 구십팔 명이요, 16. The children of Ater of Hezekiah, ninety and eight.
17. 베새 자손이 삼백이십삼 명이요, 17. The children of Bezai, three hundred twenty and three.
18. 요라 자손이 백십이 명이요, 18. The children of Jorah, an hundred and twelve.
19. 하숨 자손이 이백이십삼 명이요, 19. The children of Hashum, two hundred twenty and three.
20. 깁발 자손이 구십오 명이요, 20. The children of Gibbar, ninety and five.
21. 베들레헴 자손이 백이십삼 명이요, 21. The children of Beth-lehem, an hundred twenty and three.
22. 느도바 사람이 오십육 명이요, 22. The men of Netophah, fifty and six.
23. 아나돗 사람이 백이십팔 명이요, 23. The men of Anathoth, an hundred twenty and eight.
24. 아스마벳 자손이 사십이 명이요, 24. The children of Azmaveth, forty and two.
25. 기럇아림과 그비라와 브에롯 자손이 칠백사십삼 명이요, 25. The children of Kirjath-arim, Chephirah, and Beeroth, seven hundred and forty and three.
26. 라마와 게바 자손이 육백이십일 명이요, 26. The children of Ramah and Gaba, six hundred twenty and one.
27. 믹마스 사람이 백이십이 명이요, 27. The men of Michmas, an hundred twenty and two.
28. 벧엘과 아이 사람이 이백이십삼 명이요, 28. The men of Beth-el and Ai, two hundred twenty and three.
29. 느보 자손이 오십이 명이요, 29. The children of Nebo, fifty and two.
30. 막비스 자손이 백오십육 명이요, 30. The children of Magbish, an hundred fifty and six.
31. 다른 엘람 자손이 천이백오십사 명이요, 31. The children of the other Elam, a thousand two hundred fifty and four.
32. 하림 자손이 삼백이십 명이요, 32. The children of Harim, three hundred and twenty.
33. 롯과 하딧과 오노 자손이 칠백이십오 명이요, 33. The children of Lod, Hadid, and Ono, seven hundred twenty and five.
34. 여리고 자손이 삼백사십오 명이요, 34. The children of Jericho, three hundred forty and five.
35. 스나아 자손이 삼천육백삼십 명이었더라. 35. The children of Senaah, three thousand and six hundred and thirty.
36. ¶ 제사장들은 예수아의 집에 속한 여다야 자손이 구백칠십삼 명이요, 36. ¶ The priests: the children of Jedaiah, of the house of Jeshua, nine hundred seventy and three.
37. 임멜 자손이 천오십이 명이요, 37. The children of Immer, a thousand fifty and two.
38. 바스훌 자손이 천이백사십칠 명이요, 38. The children of Pashur, a thousand two hundred forty and seven.
39. 하림 자손이 천십칠 명이었더라. 39. The children of Harim, a thousand and seventeen.
40. ¶ 레위 사람들은 호다위야 자손에 속한 예수아와 갓미엘 자손이 칠십사 명이요, 40. ¶ The Levites: the children of Jeshua and Kadmiel, of the children of Hodaviah, seventy and four.
41. ¶ 노래하는 자들은 아삽 자손이 백이십팔 명이요, 41. ¶ The singers: the children of Asaph, an hundred twenty and eight.
42. ¶ 문지기들의 자손은 살룸 자손과 아델 자손과 달몬 자손과 악굽 자손과 하디다 자손과 소배 자손이 모두 백삼십구 명이었더라. 42. ¶ The children of the porters: the children of Shallum, the children of Ater, the children of Talmon, the children of Akkub, the children of Hatita, the children of Shobai, in all an hundred thirty and nine.
43. ¶ 느디님 사람들은 시하 자손과 하수바 자손과 답바옷 자손과 43. ¶ The Nethinims: the children of Ziha, the children of Hasupha, the children of Tabbaoth,
44. 게로스 자손과 시아하 자손과 바돈 자손과 44. The children of Keros, the children of Siaha, the children of Padon,
45. 르바나 자손과 하가바 자손과 악굽 자손과 45. The children of Lebanah, the children of Hagabah, the children of Akkub,
46. 하갑 자손과 살매 자손과 하난 자손과 46. The children of Hagab, the children of Shalmai, the children of Hanan,
47. 깃델 자손과 가할 자손과 르아야 자손과 47. The children of Giddel, the children of Gahar, the children of Reaiah,
48. 르신 자손과 느고다 자손과 갓삼 자손과 48. The children of Rezin, the children of Nekoda, the children of Gazzam,
49. 웃사 자손과 바세아 자손과 베새 자손과 49. The children of Uzza, the children of Paseah, the children of Besai,
50. 아스나 자손과 므후님 자손과 느부심 자손과 50. The children of Asnah, the children of Mehunim, the children of Nephusim,
51. 박북 자손과 하구바 자손과 할훌 자손과 51. The children of Bakbuk, the children of Hakupha, the children of Harhur,
52. 바슬룻 자손과 므히다 자손과 하르사 자손과 52. The children of Bazluth, the children of Mehida, the children of Harsha,
53. 바르고스 자손과 시스라 자손과 다마 자손과 53. The children of Barkos, the children of Sisera, the children of Thamah,
54. 느시야 자손과 하디바 자손이었더라. 54. The children of Neziah, the children of Hatipha.
55. ¶ 솔로몬의 신하들 자손은 소대 자손과 소베렛 자손과 브루다 자손과 55. ¶ The children of Solomon's servants: the children of Sotai, the children of Sophereth, the children of Peruda,
56. 야알라 자손과 다르곤 자손과 깃델 자손과 56. The children of Jaalah, the children of Darkon, the children of Giddel,
57. 스바댜 자손과 핫딜 자손과 스바임의 보게렛 자손과 아미 자손이니 57. The children of Shephatiah, the children of Hattil, the children of Pochereth of Zebaim, the children of Ami.
58. 모든 느디님 사람과 솔로몬의 신하들 자손이 삼백구십이 명이었더라. 58. All the Nethinims, and the children of Solomon's servants, were three hundred ninety and two.
59. 이들은 델멜라와 델하르사와 그룹과 앗단과 임멜에서 올라온 자들이었으나 그들이 자기들의 아버지 집과 자기들의 씨와 또 자기들이 이스라엘에 속하였는지 여부를 보이지 못하였더라. 59. And these were they which went up from Tel-melah, Tel-harsa, Cherub, Addan, and Immer: but they could not shew their father's house, and their seed, whether they were of Israel:
60. 그들은 들라야 자손과 도비야 자손과 느고다 자손으로 육백오십이 명이었더라. 60. The children of Delaiah, the children of Tobiah, the children of Nekoda, six hundred fifty and two.
61. ¶ 제사장들의 자손 중에서는 하바야 자손과 고스 자손과 바르실래 자손이 있었는데 이 바르실래는 길르앗 사람 바르실래의 딸들 중에서 한 사람을 아내로 취해 그들의 이름으로 불렸더라. 61. ¶ And of the children of the priests: the children of Habaiah, the children of Koz, the children of Barzillai; which took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and was called after their name:
62. 이들이 계보대로 계수된 자들 가운데서 자기들의 등록부를 구하였으나 그들이 발견되지 아니하였으므로 그들을 더러운 자로 여겨 제사장 직무를 행하지 못하게 하고 62. These sought their register among those that were reckoned by genealogy, but they were not found: therefore were they, as polluted, put from the priesthood.
63. 디르사다가 그들에게 말하여 우림과 둠밈을 가진 제사장이 일어나기 전에는 그들이 지극히 거룩한 것들을 먹지 말라고 하였더라. 63. And the Tirshatha said unto them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there stood up a priest with Urim and with Thummim.
64. ¶ 전체 회중이 모두 사만 이천삼백육십 명이었으며 64. ¶ The whole congregation together was forty and two thousand three hundred and threescore,
65. 그 외에 그들의 남종과 여종들 중에서 거기에 칠천삼백삼십칠 명이 있었고 그들 가운데 노래하는 남자와 노래하는 여자 이백 명이 있었더라. 65. Beside their servants and their maids, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty and seven: and there were among them two hundred singing men and singing women.
66. 그들의 말이 칠백삼십육 마리, 그들의 노새가 이백사십오 마리, 66. Their horses were seven hundred thirty and six; their mules, two hundred forty and five;
67. 그들의 낙타가 사백삼십오 마리, 나귀가 육천칠백이십 마리더라. 67. Their camels, four hundred thirty and five; their asses, six thousand seven hundred and twenty.
68. ¶ 아버지들의 우두머리들 중에서 몇 사람이 예루살렘에 있는 {주}의 집에 이르러 하나님의 집을 그것의 처소에 세우려고 예물을 자유롭게 드리되 68. ¶ And some of the chief of the fathers, when they came to the house of the LORD which is at Jerusalem, offered freely for the house of God to set it up in his place:
69. 자기들의 능력에 따라 그 일의 재정을 위하여 금 육만 천 다릭과 은 오천 마네와 제사장들의 의복 백 벌을 드렸더라. 69. They gave after their ability unto the treasure of the work threescore and one thousand drams of gold, and five thousand pound of silver, and one hundred priests' garments.
70. 이와 같이 제사장들과 레위 사람들과 백성 중에서 몇 사람과 노래하는 자들과 문지기들과 느디님 사람들이 자기들의 도시들에 거하였고 또 온 이스라엘이 자기들의 도시들에 거하였더라. 70. So the priests, and the Levites, and some of the people, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinims, dwelt in their cities, and all Israel in their cities.
1. 일곱째 달이 이르렀을 때에 이스라엘 자손이 도시들에 거하다가 백성이 한 사람같이 예루살렘에 함께 모이니 1. And when the seventh month was come, and the children of Israel were in the cities, the people gathered themselves together as one man to Jerusalem.
2. 그때에 요사닥의 아들 예수아와 그의 형제 제사장들과 스알디엘의 아들 스룹바벨과 그의 형제들이 일어나서 하나님의 사람 모세의 율법에 기록된 대로 번제 헌물을 제단 위에 드리려고 이스라엘의 하나님의 제단을 쌓았더라. 2. Then stood up Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren the priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and his brethren, and builded the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings thereon, as it is written in the law of Moses the man of God.
3. 그 지역들의 사람들로 인하여 그들에게 두려움이 임하였으므로 그들이 제단을 그것의 기초에 세우고 그 위에 {주}께 번제 헌물을 드리되 아침저녁으로 번제 헌물을 드리며 3. And they set the altar upon his bases; for fear was upon them because of the people of those countries: and they offered burnt offerings thereon unto the LORD, even burnt offerings morning and evening.
4. 또 기록된 대로 장막절도 지키고 날마다 요구되는 의무로서 관습에 따라 수효대로 매일 드리는 번제 헌물을 드리고 4. ¶ They kept also the feast of tabernacles, as it is written, and offered the daily burnt offerings by number, according to the custom, as the duty of every day required;
5. 그 뒤에는 항상 드리는 번제 헌물 곧 월삭과 거룩히 구분되고 정해진 {주}의 모든 명절들에 드리는 번제 헌물과 또 자원하여 {주}께 자원 헌물을 드린 모든 사람의 번제 헌물을 드렸더라. 5. And afterward offered the continual burnt offering, both of the new moons, and of all the set feasts of the LORD that were consecrated, and of every one that willingly offered a freewill offering unto the LORD.
6. 그들이 일곱째 달 초하루부터 {주}께 번제 헌물을 드리기 시작하였으나 {주}의 성전의 기초는 여전히 놓지 못하였더라. 6. From the first day of the seventh month began they to offer burnt offerings unto the LORD. But the foundation of the temple of the LORD was not yet laid.
7. 그들이 또한 석공과 목수들에게 돈을 주고 또 시돈에서 온 자들과 두로에서 온 자들에게 먹을 것과 마실 것과 기름을 주어 자기들이 페르시아 왕 고레스로부터 허가받은 대로 백향목을 레바논에서 욥바의 바다까지 가져오게 하였더라. 7. They gave money also unto the masons, and to the carpenters; and meat, and drink, and oil, unto them of Zidon, and to them of Tyre, to bring cedar trees from Lebanon to the sea of Joppa, according to the grant that they had of Cyrus king of Persia.
8. ¶ 이제 그들이 예루살렘에 있는 하나님의 집에 다다른 뒤 둘째 해 둘째 달에 스알디엘의 아들 스룹바벨과 요사닥의 아들 예수아와 그들의 형제 제사장들과 레위 사람들 중 남은 자들과 포로 생활에서 벗어나 예루살렘에 다다른 모든 사람이 일을 시작하고 {주}의 집 일을 진척시키기 위해 스무 살이 넘은 레위 사람들을 임명하니라. 8. ¶ Now in the second year of their coming unto the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and the remnant of their brethren the priests and the Levites, and all they that were come out of the captivity unto Jerusalem; and appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to set forward the work of the house of the LORD.
9. 그때에 예수아와 그의 아들들과 그의 형제들과 갓미엘과 그의 아들들과 유다의 아들들이 함께 서서 하나님의 집에서 일꾼들을 독려하니 곧 헤나닷의 아들들과 그들의 아들들과 그들의 형제 레위 사람들이라. 9. Then stood Jeshua with his sons and his brethren, Kadmiel and his sons, the sons of Judah, together, to set forward the workmen in the house of God: the sons of Henadad, with their sons and their brethren the Levites.
10. 건축자들이 {주}의 성전의 기초를 놓을 때에 제사장들은 자기들의 옷을 입고 나팔을 들고 아삽의 아들들 레위 사람들은 심벌즈를 들고 이스라엘 왕 다윗의 규례대로 {주}를 찬양하되 10. And when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the LORD, they set the priests in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals, to praise the LORD, after the ordinance of David king of Israel.
11. 그들이 계열대로 {주}께 찬양과 감사를 드리며 함께 노래하였으니 이는 그분께서 선하시며 이스라엘을 향한 그분의 긍휼이 영원하기 때문이더라. {주}의 집의 기초가 놓였으므로 온 백성이 {주}를 찬양하며 매우 큰 소리로 소리를 내었더라. 11. And they sang together by course in praising and giving thanks unto the LORD; because he is good, for his mercy endureth for ever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid.
12. 그러나 제사장들과 레위 사람들과 아버지들의 우두머리들 중의 많은 사람들 곧 첫째 집을 보았던 노인들은 자기들의 눈앞에 이 집의 기초가 놓인 것을 보고 큰 소리로 울었으며 많은 사람은 기뻐서 크게 소리를 내었으니 12. But many of the priests and Levites and chief of the fathers, who were ancient men, that had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice; and many shouted aloud for joy:
13. 이에 기뻐서 내는 소리와 백성의 우는 소리를 백성이 구분하지 못하였더라. 백성이 크게 외치매 그 소리가 멀리서도 들렸더라. 13. So that the people could not discern the noise of the shout of joy from the noise of the weeping of the people: for the people shouted with a loud shout, and the noise was heard afar off.
1. 이제 포로로 사로잡혀 갔던 자들의 자손이 {주} 이스라엘의 하나님을 위하여 성전을 건축하였다는 것을 유다와 베냐민의 대적들이 듣고 1. Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the children of the captivity builded the temple unto the LORD God of Israel;
2. 그때에 스룹바벨과 아버지들의 우두머리들에게 나아와 그들에게 이르되, 우리가 너희와 함께 건축하게 하라. 우리도 너희처럼 너희 하나님을 구하나니 우리를 여기로 데려온 앗수르 왕 에살핫돈의 시대로부터 우리가 그분께 희생물을 드리느니라, 하였으나 2. Then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the chief of the fathers, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as ye do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esar-haddon king of Assur, which brought us up hither.
3. 스룹바벨과 예수아와 이스라엘의 아버지들의 우두머리들 중의 남은 자들이 그들에게 이르되, 우리 하나님을 위해 집을 건축하는 일에 너희는 우리와 아무 상관이 없느니라. 고레스 왕 곧 페르시아 왕이 우리에게 명령한 대로 {주} 이스라엘의 하나님을 위해 우리가 함께 스스로 건축하리라, 하였더니 3. But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the chief of the fathers of Israel, said unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build an house unto our God; but we ourselves together will build unto the LORD God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia hath commanded us.
4. 그때에 그 땅의 백성이 유다 백성의 손을 약하게 하고 건축하는 일에서 그들을 괴롭게 하며 4. Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building,
5. 페르시아 왕 고레스의 전 생애 동안과 페르시아 왕 다리오가 통치할 때까지 조언자들을 고용하여 그들을 대적하게 하고 그들의 목적을 좌절시키려 하였으며 5. And hired counsellors against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.
6. 아하수에로의 통치 때에 곧 그가 통치하기 시작할 때에 그들이 유다와 예루살렘 거주민들을 고소하는 글을 그에게 보내었더라. 6. And in the reign of Ahasuerus, in the beginning of his reign, wrote they unto him an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem.
7. ¶ 또 아닥사스다 시대에 비슬람과 미드르닷과 다브엘과 그들의 동료들 중의 남은 자들이 페르시아 왕 아닥사스다에게 글을 올렸는데 이 편지의 글은 시리아 말로 기록되었고 또 시리아 말로 번역되었더라. 7. ¶ And in the days of Artaxerxes wrote Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of their companions, unto Artaxerxes king of Persia; and the writing of the letter was written in the Syrian tongue, and interpreted in the Syrian tongue.
8. 장관 르훔과 서기관 심새가 예루살렘을 치려고 아닥사스다 왕에게 이런 식의 편지를 썼으니 8. Rehum the chancellor and Shimshai the scribe wrote a letter against Jerusalem to Artaxerxes the king in this sort:
9. 그때에 장관 르훔과 서기관 심새와 그들의 동료들 중의 남은 자들 곧 디나 사람과 아바삿 사람과 다블래 사람과 아바새 사람과 아렉 사람과 바빌론 사람과 수산 사람과 데해 사람과 엘람 사람과 9. Then wrote Rehum the chancellor, and Shimshai the scribe, and the rest of their companions; the Dinaites, the Apharsathchites, the Tarpelites, the Apharsites, the Archevites, the Babylonians, the Susanchites, the Dehavites, and the Elamites,
10. 민족들 중에서 남은 자들 즉 위대하고 존귀한 아스납발이 데려다가 사마리아의 도시들에 둔 자들과 강 이편에 남아 있는 자들이 이때에 편지를 썼더라. 10. And the rest of the nations whom the great and noble Asnapper brought over, and set in the cities of Samaria, and the rest that are on this side the river, and at such a time.
11. ¶ 그들이 그에게 곧 아닥사스다 왕에게 보낸 그 편지의 사본은 이러하니라. 강 이편에 있는 자들 즉 왕의 신하들은 이때에 11. ¶ This is the copy of the letter that they sent unto him, even unto Artaxerxes the king; Thy servants the men on this side the river, and at such a time.
12. 왕께 이것을 알리옵나이다. 곧 왕으로부터 우리에게로 올라온 유대인들이 예루살렘에 이르러 반역을 일삼는 나쁜 도시를 건축하여 이미 그것의 성벽을 세우고 기초들을 연결하였사오니 12. Be it known unto the king, that the Jews which came up from thee to us are come unto Jerusalem, building the rebellious and the bad city, and have set up the walls thereof, and joined the foundations.
13. 이제 왕께서는 이것을 아시옵소서. 곧 이 도시가 건축되고 성벽이 다시 세워지면 그들이 세금과 조공과 관세를 바치지 아니하리니 이로써 왕께서는 왕들의 세입에서 손해를 보리이다. 13. Be it known now unto the king, that, if this city be builded, and the walls set up again, then will they not pay toll, tribute, and custom, and so thou shalt endamage the revenue of the kings.
14. 이제 우리가 왕의 궁궐에서 양식을 받아 생계를 유지하므로 왕의 수치를 보는 것이 우리에게 합당하지 아니하오며 따라서 우리가 사람을 보내어 왕께 확실히 알리오니 14. Now because we have maintenance from the king's palace, and it was not meet for us to see the king's dishonour, therefore have we sent and certified the king;
15. 왕의 조상들에 관한 기록 책을 찾아보게 하소서. 그리하시면 그 기록 책에서 이 도시가 반역하는 도시로서 왕들과 여러 지방에 해를 끼친 것과 또 옛날에 그들이 바로 그 안에서 반란을 일으킨 것을 왕께서 찾아내고 아시리이다. 그런 까닭에 이 도시가 멸망하였나이다. 15. That search may be made in the book of the records of thy fathers: so shalt thou find in the book of the records, and know that this city is a rebellious city, and hurtful unto kings and provinces, and that they have moved sedition within the same of old time: for which cause was this city destroyed.
16. 우리가 왕께 확실히 알리오니 이 도시가 다시 건축되고 그것의 성벽이 세워지면 이것으로 말미암아 왕께서는 강 이편에서 아무 몫도 소유하지 못하시리이다, 하였더라. 16. We certify the king that, if this city be builded again, and the walls thereof set up, by this means thou shalt have no portion on this side the river.
17. ¶ 그때에 왕이 장관 르훔과 서기관 심새와 사마리아에 거하는 그들의 동료들 중의 남은 자들과 강 건너에 남아 있는 사람들에게 답장을 보내니 일렀으되, 평강이 이때에 있을지어다. 17. ¶ Then sent the king an answer unto Rehum the chancellor, and to Shimshai the scribe, and to the rest of their companions that dwell in Samaria, and unto the rest beyond the river, Peace, and at such a time.
18. 너희가 우리에게 보낸 편지를 내 앞에서 분명하게 낭독시키고 18. The letter which ye sent unto us hath been plainly read before me.
19. 내가 명령하고 찾아보게 하니 옛날에 이 도시가 왕들을 거역하여 폭동을 일으켰고 그 안에서 반역과 반란이 있었으며 19. And I commanded, and search hath been made, and it is found that this city of old time hath made insurrection against kings, and that rebellion and sedition have been made therein.
20. 또 전에는 예루살렘을 다스리는 강한 왕들이 있어서 그들이 강 건너의 모든 지역을 다스리매 사람들이 세금과 조공과 관세를 그들에게 바친 것이 발견되었도다. 20. There have been mighty kings also over Jerusalem, which have ruled over all countries beyond the river; and toll, tribute, and custom, was paid unto them.
21. 이제 너희는 명령을 내려 이 사람들이 일을 중단하게 하고 내가 다른 명령을 내릴 때까지 이 도시를 건축하지 못하게 하라. 21. Give ye now commandment to cause these men to cease, and that this city be not builded, until another commandment shall be given from me.
22. 이제 주의를 기울여 너희는 이 일 행하는 것을 그르치지 말라. 어찌하여 손해가 자라서 왕들에게 해를 끼치게 하랴? 하였더라. 22. Take heed now that ye fail not to do this: why should damage grow to the hurt of the kings?
23. ¶ 이제 아닥사스다 왕의 편지 사본을 르훔과 서기관 심새와 그들의 동료들 앞에서 낭독하매 그들이 예루살렘으로 급히 가서 유대인들에게 이르러 힘과 권세를 이용하여 그들로 하여금 일을 중단하게 하니 23. ¶ Now when the copy of king Artaxerxes' letter was read before Rehum, and Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went up in haste to Jerusalem unto the Jews, and made them to cease by force and power.
24. 그때에 예루살렘에 있는 하나님의 집에 관한 일이 중단되고 이처럼 그 일이 페르시아 왕 다리오의 통치 제이년까지 중단되니라. 24. Then ceased the work of the house of God which is at Jerusalem. So it ceased unto the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.
1. 그때에 대언자들 곧 대언자 학개와 잇도의 아들 스가랴가 이스라엘의 하나님의 이름으로 유다와 예루살렘에 있던 유대인들에게 곧 그들에게 대언하였더니 1. Then the prophets, Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied unto the Jews that were in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel, even unto them.
2. 이에 스알디엘의 아들 스룹바벨과 요사닥의 아들 예수아가 일어나 예루살렘에 있는 하나님의 집을 건축하기 시작하매 하나님의 대언자들이 그들과 함께하여 그들을 도왔더라. 2. Then rose up Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and began to build the house of God which is at Jerusalem: and with them were the prophets of God helping them.
3. ¶ 바로 그때에 강 이편의 총독 닷드내와 스달보스내와 그들의 동료들이 나아와 그들에게 이같이 이르되, 누가 너희에게 명령하여 이 집을 건축하고 이 성벽을 보수하게 하였느냐? 하기에 3. ¶ At the same time came to them Tatnai, governor on this side the river, and Shethar-boznai, and their companions, and said thus unto them, Who hath commanded you to build this house, and to make up this wall?
4. 그때에 우리가 이런 식으로 그들에게 이르기를, 이 건물을 짓는 자들의 이름이 무엇이냐? 하니라. 4. Then said we unto them after this manner, What are the names of the men that make this building?
5. 그러나 그들의 하나님의 눈이 유대인들의 장로들 위에 있으므로 그 일이 다리오에게 이를 때까지 저들이 그들로 하여금 일을 중단하지 못하게 하였고 그때에 그들이 이 일에 관하여 편지로 답을 보내었더라. 5. But the eye of their God was upon the elders of the Jews, that they could not cause them to cease, till the matter came to Darius: and then they returned answer by letter concerning this matter.
6. ¶ 강 이편 총독 닷드내와 스달보스내와 그의 동료들 곧 강 이편에 있던 아바삭 사람들이 다리오 왕에게 보낸 편지의 사본이 이러하니라. 6. ¶ The copy of the letter that Tatnai, governor on this side the river, and Shethar-boznai, and his companions the Apharsachites, which were on this side the river, sent unto Darius the king:
7. 그들이 그에게 편지를 보내며 그 안에 이같이 기록하기를, 다리오 왕께 문안하오니 다 평안하옵소서. 7. They sent a letter unto him, wherein was written thus; Unto Darius the king, all peace.
8. 왕께 이것을 알리옵나이다. 곧 우리가 유대 지방에 가서 위대하신 하나님의 집에 이르렀는데 그들이 큰 돌로 그 집을 세우고 벽에 나무를 놓아 이 일이 신속히 이루어지며 그들의 손에서 형통하기에 8. Be it known unto the king, that we went into the province of Judea, to the house of the great God, which is builded with great stones, and timber is laid in the walls, and this work goeth fast on, and prospereth in their hands.
9. 그때에 우리가 그 장로들에게 물으며 그들에게 이같이 이르기를, 누가 너희에게 명령하여 이 집을 건축하고 이 성벽을 보수하게 하였느냐? 하고 9. Then asked we those elders, and said unto them thus, Who commanded you to build this house, and to make up these walls?
10. 우리가 그들의 우두머리 되는 자들의 이름을 적어 왕에게 알리려고 또한 그들의 이름을 물은즉 10. We asked their names also, to certify thee, that we might write the names of the men that were the chief of them.
11. 그들이 우리에게 이같이 회답하여 이르기를, 우리는 하늘과 땅의 하나님의 종으로서 이렇게 여러 해 전에 건축되었던 집을 건축하노라. 이 집은 이스라엘의 위대한 왕이 건축하여 세웠으나 11. And thus they returned us answer, saying, We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and build the house that was builded these many years ago, which a great king of Israel builded and set up.
12. 우리 조상들이 하늘의 하나님의 진노를 일으켰으므로 그분께서 그들을 갈대아 사람 바빌론 왕 느부갓네살의 손에 넘겨주시매 그가 이 집을 헐고 백성을 사로잡아 바빌론으로 데려갔느니라. 12. But after that our fathers had provoked the God of heaven unto wrath, he gave them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, the Chaldean, who destroyed this house, and carried the people away into Babylon.
13. 그러나 바빌론 왕 고레스의 제일년에 바로 그 고레스 왕이 칙령을 내려 하나님의 이 집을 건축하게 하고 13. But in the first year of Cyrus the king of Babylon the same king Cyrus made a decree to build this house of God.
14. 또 느부갓네살이 예루살렘에 있던 그 성전에서 취한 하나님의 집의 금 기구와 은 기구들 곧 그가 바빌론의 전에 가져다 둔 그것들을 고레스 왕이 바빌론의 전에서 취하여 자기가 세운 총독 즉 세스바살이라는 이름을 가진 자에게 건네주고 14. And the vessels also of gold and silver of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took out of the temple that was in Jerusalem, and brought them into the temple of Babylon, those did Cyrus the king take out of the temple of Babylon, and they were delivered unto one, whose name was Sheshbazzar, whom he had made governor;
15. 그에게 이르되, 이 기구들을 가지고 가서 예루살렘에 있는 성전에 그것들을 두고 하나님의 집을 그것의 처소에 건축하라, 하매 15. And said unto him, Take these vessels, go, carry them into the temple that is in Jerusalem, and let the house of God be builded in his place.
16. 이에 바로 그 세스바살이 와서 예루살렘에 있는 하나님의 집의 기초를 놓았고 그때로부터 지금까지 그 집을 건축하여 왔으나 아직도 그것을 완성하지 못하였다, 하였사오니 16. Then came the same Sheshbazzar, and laid the foundation of the house of God which is in Jerusalem: and since that time even until now hath it been in building, and yet it is not finished.
17. 그러므로 이제 왕께서 좋게 여기시거든 거기 바빌론에 있는 왕의 보고를 찾아보사 고레스 왕이 칙령을 내려 하나님의 이 집을 예루살렘에 건축하라고 하신 일이 과연 그러한지 보시고 왕께서는 이 일에 관하여 왕께서 기뻐하시는 바를 우리에게 보내소서, 하였더라. 17. Now therefore, if it seem good to the king, let there be search made in the king's treasure house, which is there at Babylon, whether it be so, that a decree was made of Cyrus the king to build this house of God at Jerusalem, and let the king send his pleasure to us concerning this matter.
1. 이에 다리오 왕이 칙령을 내려 두루마리를 둔 집 곧 바빌론에서 보물들을 쌓아 둔 곳을 찾아보게 하였더니 1. Then Darius the king made a decree, and search was made in the house of the rolls, where the treasures were laid up in Babylon.
2. 메대 사람들의 지방에 있는 궁궐에서, 악메다에서 두루마리 하나를 찾으니라. 그 안에 이같이 한 기록이 적혔더라. 2. And there was found at Achmetha, in the palace that is in the province of the Medes, a roll, and therein was a record thus written:
3. 고레스 왕의 제일년에 바로 그 고레스 왕이 예루살렘에 있는 하나님의 집에 관하여 칙령을 내려 이르기를, 그 집 곧 그들이 희생물을 드리던 곳을 건축하되 그것의 기초를 견고히 놓고 그것의 높이는 육십 큐빗으로 하며 너비도 육십 큐빗으로 하고 3. In the first year of Cyrus the king the same Cyrus the king made a decree concerning the house of God at Jerusalem, Let the house be builded, the place where they offered sacrifices, and let the foundations thereof be strongly laid; the height thereof threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof threescore cubits;
4. 또 큰 돌 세 줄과 함께 새 나무 한 줄을 놓으라. 또 그 경비는 왕의 집에서 낼지니라. 4. With three rows of great stones, and a row of new timber: and let the expenses be given out of the king's house:
5. 또 하나님의 집에 속한 금 기구와 은 기구들 곧 느부갓네살이 예루살렘에 있는 그 성전에서 취하여 바빌론으로 옮긴 기구들을 돌려보내어 예루살렘에 있는 성전으로 다시 가져다가 하나님의 집에 두되 각 기구를 그것의 처소에 둘지니라, 하였더라. 5. And also let the golden and silver vessels of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took forth out of the temple which is at Jerusalem, and brought unto Babylon, be restored, and brought again unto the temple which is at Jerusalem, every one to his place, and place them in the house of God.
6. 그러므로 이제 강 건너의 총독 닷드내와 스달보스내와 너희 동료들 곧 강 건너에 있는 아바삭 사람들은 거기서 멀리 떠나 6. Now therefore, Tatnai, governor beyond the river, Shethar-boznai, and your companions the Apharsachites, which are beyond the river, be ye far from thence:
7. 하나님의 이 집에 관한 일을 그대로 두고 유대인들의 총독과 유대인들의 장로들이 하나님의 이 집을 그것의 처소에 건축하게 하라. 7. Let the work of this house of God alone; let the governor of the Jews and the elders of the Jews build this house of God in his place.
8. 또 내가 칙령을 내려서 하나님의 이 집을 건축하는 일을 위해 너희가 이 유대인들의 장로들에게 무엇을 행할 것인지 알게 하노니 왕의 재산 곧 강 건너에서 들어오는 조공 중에서 그 경비를 이 사람들에게 빨리 주어 그들이 방해를 받지 않게 하라. 8. Moreover I make a decree what ye shall do to the elders of these Jews for the building of this house of God: that of the king's goods, even of the tribute beyond the river, forthwith expenses be given unto these men, that they be not hindered.
9. 또 그들이 필요로 하는 것 즉 하늘의 하나님께 드릴 번제 헌물에 쓸 어린 수소와 숫양과 어린양과 또 밀과 소금과 포도즙과 기름을 예루살렘에 있는 제사장들이 지정하는 대로 날마다 어김없이 그들에게 주어 9. And that which they have need of, both young bullocks, and rams, and lambs, for the burnt offerings of the God of heaven, wheat, salt, wine, and oil, according to the appointment of the priests which are at Jerusalem, let it be given them day by day without fail:
10. 그들이 하늘의 하나님께 향기로운 냄새가 나는 희생물을 드리게 하고 또 왕과 그의 아들들의 생명을 위해 기도하게 하라. 10. That they may offer sacrifices of sweet savours unto the God of heaven, and pray for the life of the king, and of his sons.
11. 내가 또 칙령을 내리노니 누구든지 이 말을 변개하면 그의 집에서 들보를 빼서 일으켜 세우고 그를 그 위에 매달며 이것으로 인해 그의 집을 거름더미가 되게 하라. 11. Also I have made a decree, that whosoever shall alter this word, let timber be pulled down from his house, and being set up, let him be hanged thereon; and let his house be made a dunghill for this.
12. 거기에 자신의 이름이 거하게 하신 하나님께서 스스로 손을 대어 예루살렘에 있는 하나님의 집을 바꾸거나 멸하려는 모든 왕들과 백성들을 멸하시기를 원하노라. 나 다리오가 칙령을 내렸노니 신속히 그 일을 행할지어다, 하였더라. 12. And the God that hath caused his name to dwell there destroy all kings and people, that shall put to their hand to alter and to destroy this house of God which is at Jerusalem. I Darius have made a decree; let it be done with speed.
13. ¶ 그때에 강 이편의 총독 닷드내와 스달보스내와 그들의 동료들이 다리오 왕이 보내온 것에 따라 이처럼 신속히 행하니라. 13. ¶ Then Tatnai, governor on this side the river, Shethar-boznai, and their companions, according to that which Darius the king had sent, so they did speedily.
14. 유대인들의 장로들이 건축하고 대언자 학개와 잇도의 아들 스가랴의 대언을 통해 형통하였더라. 그들이 이스라엘의 하나님의 명령과 페르시아 왕 고레스와 다리오와 아닥사스다의 명령대로 그것을 건축하여 완성하되 14. And the elders of the Jews builded, and they prospered through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. And they builded, and finished it, according to the commandment of the God of Israel, and according to the commandment of Cyrus, and Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia.
15. 다리오 왕의 통치 제육년에 있었던 아달 월 삼일에 이 집을 완성하니라. 15. And this house was finished on the third day of the month Adar, which was in the sixth year of the reign of Darius the king.
16. ¶ 이스라엘 자손과 제사장들과 레위 사람들과 포로로 사로잡혀 갔던 자들의 자손들 중의 남은 자들이 기쁘게 하나님의 이 집의 봉헌식을 행하며 16. ¶ And the children of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the rest of the children of the captivity, kept the dedication of this house of God with joy,
17. 하나님의 이 집을 봉헌할 때에 수소 백 마리와 숫양 이백 마리와 어린양 사백 마리를 드리고 또 이스라엘 지파들의 수대로 숫염소 열두 마리로 온 이스라엘을 위하여 죄 헌물을 드리며 17. And offered at the dedication of this house of God an hundred bullocks, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs; and for a sin offering for all Israel, twelve he goats, according to the number of the tribes of Israel.
18. 제사장들을 그들의 구분대로, 레위 사람들을 그들의 계열대로 세워 예루살렘에 계신 하나님을 섬기게 하되 모세의 책에 기록된 대로 하게 하니라. 18. And they set the priests in their divisions, and the Levites in their courses, for the service of God, which is at Jerusalem; as it is written in the book of Moses.
19. 포로로 사로잡혀 갔던 자들의 자손이 첫째 달 십사일에 유월절을 지켰으니 19. And the children of the captivity kept the passover upon the fourteenth day of the first month.
20. 제사장들과 레위 사람들이 함께 자신을 정결하게 하여 다 정결하게 되매 그들이 포로로 사로잡혀 갔던 자들의 모든 자손과 자기 형제 제사장들과 자기들을 위하여 유월절 어린양을 잡았더라. 20. For the priests and the Levites were purified together, all of them were pure, and killed the passover for all the children of the captivity, and for their brethren the priests, and for themselves.
21. 포로 생활에서 벗어나 되돌아온 이스라엘 자손과 그 땅의 이교도들의 더러운 것으로부터 자신을 분리하고 저들에게 돌아와 {주} 이스라엘의 하나님을 찾는 모든 자들이 먹고 21. And the children of Israel, which were come again out of captivity, and all such as had separated themselves unto them from the filthiness of the heathen of the land, to seek the LORD God of Israel, did eat,
22. 이레 동안 기쁘게 무교절을 지켰으니 이는 {주}께서 그들을 기쁘게 하시고 또 아시리아 왕의 마음을 그들에게로 돌리사 하나님 곧 이스라엘의 하나님의 집에 관한 일을 할 때에 그들의 손을 강하게 하셨기 때문이더라. 22. And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for the LORD had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.
1. 이제 이 일들 뒤에 페르시아 왕 아닥사스다가 통치할 때에 에스라가 있었는데 그는 스라야의 아들이요, 아사랴의 손자요, 힐기야의 증손이요, 1. Now after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra the son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah,
2. 살룸의 사대 손이요, 사독의 오대 손이요, 아히둡의 육대 손이요, 2. The son of Shallum, the son of Zadok, the son of Ahitub,
3. 아마랴의 칠대 손이요, 아사랴의 팔대 손이요, 므라욧의 구대 손이요, 3. The son of Amariah, the son of Azariah, the son of Meraioth,
4. 스라히야의 십대 손이요, 웃시의 십일대 손이요, 북기의 십이대 손이요, 4. The son of Zerahiah, the son of Uzzi, the son of Bukki,
5. 아비수아의 십삼대 손이요, 비느하스의 십사대 손이요, 엘르아살의 십오대 손이요, 수제사장 아론의 십육대 손이더라. 5. The son of Abishua, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the chief priest:
6. 이 에스라가 바빌론에서 올라왔는데 그는 {주} 이스라엘의 하나님께서 전에 주신 모세의 율법에 익숙한 서기관이더라. {주} 그의 하나님의 손이 그 위에 있었으므로 왕이 그가 요구한 모든 것을 그에게 주니라. 6. This Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which the LORD God of Israel had given: and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the LORD his God upon him.
7. 아닥사스다 왕의 제칠년에 이스라엘 자손과 제사장들과 레위 사람들과 노래하는 자들과 문지기들과 느디님 사람들 중에서 몇 사람이 예루살렘으로 올라올 때에 7. And there went up some of the children of Israel, and of the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinims, unto Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king.
8. 그가 그 왕의 제칠년 오월에 예루살렘에 왔더라. 8. And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king.
9. 그가 첫째 달 초하루에 바빌론에서 떠나 올라오기 시작하여 그의 하나님의 선하신 손이 그 위에 있었으므로 다섯째 달 초하루에 예루살렘에 이르렀더라. 9. For upon the first day of the first month began he to go up from Babylon, and on the first day of the fifth month came he to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him.
10. 이는 에스라가 {주}의 율법을 구하고 그것을 행하며 이스라엘에서 법규와 판단의 법도를 가르치려고 자기 마음을 예비하였기 때문이더라. 10. For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.
11. ¶ 이제 아닥사스다 왕이 제사장 겸 서기관 곧 {주}의 명령의 말씀들과 이스라엘에게 주신 그분의 법규를 맡은 서기관 에스라에게 준 편지의 사본이 이러하니라. 11. ¶ Now this is the copy of the letter that the king Artaxerxes gave unto Ezra the priest, the scribe, even a scribe of the words of the commandments of the LORD, and of his statutes to Israel.
12. 왕들의 왕 아닥사스다는 하늘의 하나님의 율법을 맡은 제사장 겸 서기관인 에스라에게 편지를 보내노니 완전한 평강이 이때에 있을지어다. 12. Artaxerxes, king of kings, unto Ezra the priest, a scribe of the law of the God of heaven, perfect peace, and at such a time.
13. 내가 칙령을 내리노니 내 영토에 있는 이스라엘 백성과 그의 제사장들과 레위 사람들 중에서 자원하여 예루살렘으로 올라가려고 마음먹은 자들은 다 너와 함께 갈지어다. 13. I make a decree, that all they of the people of Israel, and of his priests and Levites, in my realm, which are minded of their own freewill to go up to Jerusalem, go with thee.
14. 네가 네 손에 있는 네 하나님의 율법에 따라 유다와 예루살렘에 관하여 여쭈려고 왕과 그의 일곱 조언자들로부터 보내어졌으니 14. Forasmuch as thou art sent of the king, and of his seven counsellors, to enquire concerning Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of thy God which is in thine hand;
15. 왕과 그의 조언자들이 예루살렘에 처소를 두신 이스라엘의 하나님께 자원하여 드린 은과 금을 가져가고 15. And to carry the silver and gold, which the king and his counsellors have freely offered unto the God of Israel, whose habitation is in Jerusalem,
16. 또 네가 온 바빌론 지방에서 얻을 수 있는 모든 은과 금과 백성과 제사장들이 예루살렘에 있는 자기들의 하나님의 집을 위해 자원하여 드리는 자원 헌물을 가져다가 16. And all the silver and gold that thou canst find in all the province of Babylon, with the freewill offering of the people, and of the priests, offering willingly for the house of their God which is in Jerusalem:
17. 이 돈으로 수소와 숫양과 어린양과 그것들의 음식 헌물과 음료 헌물을 신속히 사서 예루살렘에 있는 너희 하나님의 집의 제단 위에 그것들을 드리고 17. That thou mayest buy speedily with this money bullocks, rams, lambs, with their meat offerings and their drink offerings, and offer them upon the altar of the house of your God which is in Jerusalem.
18. 은과 금 중의 남은 것을 가지고 하려는 것이 무엇이든지 너와 네 형제들이 좋게 여기면 그것을 너희 하나님의 뜻대로 할지니라. 18. And whatsoever shall seem good to thee, and to thy brethren, to do with the rest of the silver and the gold, that do after the will of your God.
19. 또 너는 네 하나님의 집에서 섬기는 일을 위하여 네게 준 기구들 곧 그것들을 예루살렘의 하나님 앞에 넘겨드리고 19. The vessels also that are given thee for the service of the house of thy God, those deliver thou before the God of Jerusalem.
20. 네 하나님의 집을 위해 더 필요한 것이 무엇이든지 네가 그것을 드릴 기회가 있거든 왕의 보고 집에서 그것을 취해 드릴지니라. 20. And whatsoever more shall be needful for the house of thy God, which thou shalt have occasion to bestow, bestow it out of the king's treasure house.
21. 나 곧 나 아닥사스다 왕은 강 건너에 있는 모든 재무관에게 칙령을 내리노니 하늘의 하나님의 율법에 관한 서기관 겸 제사장인 에스라가 너희에게 요구하는 것은 무엇이든지 신속히 그것을 시행하되 21. And I, even I Artaxerxes the king, do make a decree to all the treasurers which are beyond the river, that whatsoever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, shall require of you, it be done speedily,
22. 은은 백 달란트까지, 밀은 백 고르까지, 포도즙은 백 바스까지, 기름은 백 바스까지 하고 소금은 양을 정하지 말고 하라. 22. Unto an hundred talents of silver, and to an hundred measures of wheat, and to an hundred baths of wine, and to an hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing how much.
23. 하늘의 하나님께서 명령하신 것이 무엇이든지 하늘의 하나님의 집을 위해 부지런히 그것을 행하라. 어찌하여 진노가 왕과 그의 아들들의 영토를 향하게 하리요? 23. Whatsoever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be diligently done for the house of the God of heaven: for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons?
24. 또 우리가 너희에게 알리노니 제사장들과 레위 사람들과 노래하는 자들과 문지기들과 느디님 사람들과 혹은 하나님의 집에서 섬기는 자들에 대하여는 세금과 조공과 관세를 그들에게 부과하는 것이 불법이니라. 24. Also we certify you, that touching any of the priests and Levites, singers, porters, Nethinims, or ministers of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to impose toll, tribute, or custom, upon them.
25. 에스라여, 너는 네 손에 있는 네 하나님의 지혜를 따라 네 하나님의 법들을 아는 모든 자들을 행정관과 재판관으로 세워 강 건너에 있는 온 백성을 재판하게 하고 너희는 그것들을 알지 못하는 자들을 가르치라. 25. And thou, Ezra, after the wisdom of thy God, that is in thine hand, set magistrates and judges, which may judge all the people that are beyond the river, all such as know the laws of thy God; and teach ye them that know them not.
26. 누구든지 네 하나님의 법과 왕의 법을 행하지 아니하거든 신속히 그에게 재판을 집행하여 죽이거나 추방하거나 재산을 몰수하거나 감옥에 가둘지니라. 26. And whosoever will not do the law of thy God, and the law of the king, let judgment be executed speedily upon him, whether it be unto death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.
27. ¶ {주} 우리 조상들의 하나님을 찬송할지로다. 그분께서 예루살렘에 있는 {주}의 집을 아름답게 하려고 왕의 마음에 이 같은 것을 두시고 27. ¶ Blessed be the LORD God of our fathers, which hath put such a thing as this in the king's heart, to beautify the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem:
28. 또 왕과 그의 조언자들 앞과 왕의 권세 있는 모든 통치자 앞에서 내게 긍휼을 베푸셨도다. {주} 내 하나님의 손이 내 위에 있었으므로 내가 힘을 얻어 이스라엘 중에서 우두머리 되는 자들을 모아 나와 함께 올라오게 하였노라. 28. And hath extended mercy unto me before the king, and his counsellors, and before all the king's mighty princes. And I was strengthened as the hand of the LORD my God was upon me, and I gathered together out of Israel chief men to go up with me.
1. 이제 그들의 아버지들의 우두머리들이 이러하며 또 아닥사스다 왕이 통치할 때에 나와 함께 바빌론에서 올라온 자들의 계보가 이러하니라. 1. These are now the chief of their fathers, and this is the genealogy of them that went up with me from Babylon, in the reign of Artaxerxes the king.
2. 비느하스의 아들들 중에서는 게르솜이요, 이다말의 아들들 중에서는 다니엘이요, 다윗의 아들들 중에서는 핫두스요, 2. Of the sons of Phinehas; Gershom: of the sons of Ithamar; Daniel: of the sons of David; Hattush.
3. 스가냐의 아들들 곧 바로스의 아들들 중에서는 스가랴며 그와 함께 남자들의 계보대로 계수된 자가 백오십 명이요, 3. Of the sons of Shechaniah, of the sons of Pharosh; Zechariah: and with him were reckoned by genealogy of the males an hundred and fifty.
4. 바핫모압의 아들들 중에서는 스라히야의 아들 엘리오에내며 그와 함께한 남자가 이백 명이요, 4. Of the sons of Pahath-moab; Elihoenai the son of Zerahiah, and with him two hundred males.
5. 스가냐의 아들들 중에서는 야하시엘의 아들이며 그와 함께한 남자가 삼백 명이요, 5. Of the sons of Shechaniah; the son of Jahaziel, and with him three hundred males.
6. 아딘의 아들들 중에서는 요나단의 아들 에벳이며 그와 함께한 남자가 오십 명이요, 6. Of the sons also of Adin; Ebed the son of Jonathan, and with him fifty males.
7. 또 엘람의 아들들 중에서는 아달랴의 아들 여사야며 그와 함께한 남자가 칠십 명이요, 7. And of the sons of Elam; Jeshaiah the son of Athaliah, and with him seventy males.
8. 또 스바댜의 아들들 중에서는 미가엘의 아들 스바댜며 그와 함께한 남자가 팔십 명이요, 8. And of the sons of Shephatiah; Zebadiah the son of Michael, and with him fourscore males.
9. 요압의 아들들 중에서는 여히엘의 아들 오바댜며 그와 함께한 남자가 이백십팔 명이요, 9. Of the sons of Joab; Obadiah the son of Jehiel, and with him two hundred and eighteen males.
10. 또 슬로밋의 아들들 중에서는 요시비야의 아들이며 그와 함께한 남자가 백육십 명이요, 10. And of the sons of Shelomith; the son of Josiphiah, and with him an hundred and threescore males.
11. 또 베배의 아들들 중에서는 베배의 아들 스가랴며 그와 함께한 남자가 이십팔 명이요, 11. And of the sons of Bebai; Zechariah the son of Bebai, and with him twenty and eight males.
12. 아스갓의 아들들 중에서는 학가단의 아들 요하난이며 그와 함께한 남자가 백십 명이요, 12. And of the sons of Azgad; Johanan the son of Hakkatan, and with him an hundred and ten males.
13. 또 아도니감의 마지막 아들들 중에서 나온 자의 이름은 이러하니 곧 엘리블렛과 여이엘과 스마야며 그들과 함께한 남자가 육십 명이요, 13. And of the last sons of Adonikam, whose names are these, Eliphelet, Jeiel, and Shemaiah, and with them threescore males.
14. 비그왜의 아들들 중에서는 우대와 사붓이며 그들과 함께한 남자가 칠십 명이었더라. 14. Of the sons also of Bigvai; Uthai, and Zabbud, and with them seventy males.
15. ¶ 내가 그들을 아하바로 흐르는 강으로 함께 모으고 우리가 거기서 사흘 동안 장막에 거하니라. 내가 백성과 제사장들을 살핀 뒤 거기에 레위의 아들들이 하나도 없음을 발견하고 15. ¶ And I gathered them together to the river that runneth to Ahava; and there abode we in tents three days: and I viewed the people, and the priests, and found there none of the sons of Levi.
16. 그때에 내가 사람을 보내어 우두머리 되는 자들 곧 엘리에셀과 아리엘과 스마야와 엘나단과 야립과 엘나단과 나단과 스가랴와 므술람을 부르고 또 명철한 사람 요야립과 엘나단을 불러 16. Then sent I for Eliezer, for Ariel, for Shemaiah, and for Elnathan, and for Jarib, and for Elnathan, and for Nathan, and for Zechariah, and for Meshullam, chief men; also for Joiarib, and for Elnathan, men of understanding.
17. 명령을 주고 그들을 가시비야라는 곳으로 보내어 우두머리 잇도에게 가게 하였으며 또 그들이 잇도와 그의 형제들 즉 가시비야라는 곳에 거하는 느디님 사람들에게 할 말을 일러 주어 그들이 우리 하나님의 집을 위하여 섬기는 자들을 우리에게 데려오게 하였더니 17. And I sent them with commandment unto Iddo the chief at the place Casiphia, and I told them what they should say unto Iddo, and to his brethren the Nethinims, at the place Casiphia, that they should bring unto us ministers for the house of our God.
18. 그들이 우리 위에 계시는 우리 하나님의 선한 손을 힘입어 이스라엘의 손자요, 레위의 아들인 말리의 아들들 중에서 명철한 사람 하나를 우리에게 데려오고 또 세레비야와 그의 아들들과 그의 형제들 열여덟 명과 18. And by the good hand of our God upon us they brought us a man of understanding, of the sons of Mahli, the son of Levi, the son of Israel; and Sherebiah, with his sons and his brethren, eighteen;
19. 또 하사비야와 그와 함께 므라리의 아들들 중에서 여사야와 그의 형제들과 그의 아들들 스무 명을 데려오며 19. And Hashabiah, and with him Jeshaiah of the sons of Merari, his brethren and their sons, twenty;
20. 또 느디님 사람들 곧 레위 사람들의 섬기는 일을 위해 다윗과 통치자들이 임명한 자들 중에서 이백이십 명의 느디님 사람들을 데려왔는데 그들은 다 이름이 명시된 자들이더라. 20. Also of the Nethinims, whom David and the princes had appointed for the service of the Levites, two hundred and twenty Nethinims: all of them were expressed by name.
21. ¶ 그때에 내가 거기서 아하바 강에서 금식을 선포하고 우리 하나님 앞에서 우리 자신을 괴롭게 하여 우리와 우리의 어린것들과 우리의 모든 재물을 위해 바른 길을 주실 것을 그분께 구하였으니 21. ¶ Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.
22. 이는 우리가 전에 왕에게 말하여 이르기를, 우리 하나님의 손은 그분을 찾는 모든 자에게 선을 베푸시나 그분의 권능과 그분의 진노는 그분을 버리는 모든 자를 향하나이다, 하였으므로 길에서 원수를 막고 우리를 도와줄 병사와 기병의 무리를 왕에게 요청하기를 내가 부끄러워하였기 때문이라. 22. For I was ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath is against all them that forsake him.
23. 그러므로 우리가 이것을 위하여 금식하며 우리 하나님께 간청하였더니 그분께서 우리의 간구하는 것을 받으셨더라. 23. So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us.
24. ¶ 그때에 내가 제사장들의 우두머리들 중에서 열두 명 곧 세레비야와 하사비야와 그들과 함께한 그들의 형제들 열 명을 구별하고 24. ¶ Then I separated twelve of the chief of the priests, Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and ten of their brethren with them,
25. 그들에게 왕과 그의 조언자들과 그의 귀족들과 또 그 당시 거기 있던 온 이스라엘이 우리 하나님의 집을 위하여 헌물로 드린 은과 금과 기구들을 달아서 주었으니 25. And weighed unto them the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, even the offering of the house of our God, which the king, and his counsellors, and his lords, and all Israel there present, had offered:
26. 곧 내가 달아서 그들의 손에 준 것은 은 육백오십 달란트와 은 기구 백 달란트와 금 백 달란트와 26. I even weighed unto their hand six hundred and fifty talents of silver, and silver vessels an hundred talents, and of gold an hundred talents;
27. 또 무게가 천 다릭인 금 대야 스무 개와 또 금같이 귀한 좋은 구리 그릇 두 개였더라. 27. Also twenty basons of gold, of a thousand drams; and two vessels of fine copper, precious as gold.
28. 내가 그들에게 이르되, 너희는 {주}께 거룩하며 기구들도 거룩하고 은과 금은 {주} 너희 조상들의 하나님께 드린 자원 헌물이니 28. And I said unto them, Ye are holy unto the LORD; the vessels are holy also; and the silver and the gold are a freewill offering unto the LORD God of your fathers.
29. 너희는 예루살렘에서, {주}의 집 방들에서 제사장들과 레위 사람들의 우두머리들과 이스라엘의 아버지들의 우두머리들 앞에서 그것들을 달 때까지 주의하여 그것들을 지키라, 하매 29. Watch ye, and keep them, until ye weigh them before the chief of the priests and the Levites, and chief of the fathers of Israel, at Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of the LORD.
30. 이에 제사장들과 레위 사람들이 은과 금과 기구들을 예루살렘으로, 우리 하나님의 집으로 가져가려고 그 무게대로 취하니라. 30. So took the priests and the Levites the weight of the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, to bring them to Jerusalem unto the house of our God.
31. ¶ 그때에 첫째 달 십이 일에 우리가 예루살렘으로 가려고 아하바 강에서 떠났는데 우리 하나님의 손이 우리 위에 있었고 그분께서 원수의 손과 길에 매복한 자들의 손에서 우리를 건지셨으므로 31. ¶ Then we departed from the river of Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go unto Jerusalem: and the hand of our God was upon us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy, and of such as lay in wait by the way.
32. 우리가 예루살렘에 이르러 거기서 사흘 동안 머무니라. 32. And we came to Jerusalem, and abode there three days.
33. ¶ 이제 나흘째 되는 날에 우리 하나님의 집에서 제사장인 우리야의 아들 므레못의 손으로 은과 금과 기구들을 달았더라. 비느하스의 아들 엘르아살이 그와 함께 하고 레위 사람들 곧 예수아의 아들 요사밧과 빈누이의 아들 노아댜가 그들과 함께 하며 33. ¶ Now on the fourth day was the silver and the gold and the vessels weighed in the house of our God by the hand of Meremoth the son of Uriah the priest; and with him was Eleazar the son of Phinehas; and with them was Jozabad the son of Jeshua, and Noadiah the son of Binnui, Levites;
34. 모든 것을 수대로 세고 무게대로 달며 그때에 모든 무게를 기록하였더라. 34. By number and by weight of every one: and all the weight was written at that time.
35. 또 사로잡혀 갔던 자들의 자손 곧 포로 생활에서 벗어나서 온 자들이 이스라엘의 하나님께 번제 헌물 즉 온 이스라엘을 위한 수소 열두 마리와 숫양 아흔여섯 마리와 어린양 일흔일곱 마리와 또 죄 헌물에 쓸 숫염소 열두 마리를 드렸는데 이 모든 것은 {주}께 드리는 번제 헌물이더라. 35. Also the children of those that had been carried away, which were come out of the captivity, offered burnt offerings unto the God of Israel, twelve bullocks for all Israel, ninety and six rams, seventy and seven lambs, twelve he goats for a sin offering: all this was a burnt offering unto the LORD.
36. ¶ 그들이 또 왕의 위임장을 왕의 부관들과 강 이편의 총독들에게 건네주매 그들이 백성과 하나님의 집을 도왔더라. 36. ¶ And they delivered the king's commissions unto the king's lieutenants, and to the governors on this side the river: and they furthered the people, and the house of God.
1. 이제 이 일들이 이루어진 뒤에 통치자들이 내게 나아와 이르되, 이스라엘 백성과 제사장들과 레위 사람들이 그 땅들의 백성들의 가증한 일들 곧 가나안 족속과 헷 족속과 브리스 족속과 여부스 족속과 암몬 족속과 모압 족속과 이집트 사람들과 아모리 족속의 가증한 일들에 따라 행하여 그들로부터 자신을 분리하지 아니하였으니 1. Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.
2. 그들이 자기와 자기 아들들을 위해 그들의 딸들을 취함으로 거룩한 씨가 스스로를 그 땅들의 백성들과 섞이게 하였나이다. 참으로 이 범법에서 통치자들과 치리자들의 손이 으뜸이 되었나이다, 하므로 2. For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of those lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass.
3. 내가 이 일을 듣고는 내 옷과 겉옷을 찢고 머리털과 수염을 뜯으며 놀란 채 앉았더니 3. And when I heard this thing, I rent my garment and my mantle, and plucked off the hair of my head and of my beard, and sat down astonied.
4. 그때에 이스라엘의 하나님의 말씀들로 말미암아 떤 모든 자가 사로잡혀 갔던 자들의 범법으로 인해 내게로 모였더라. 내가 저녁 희생물을 드릴 때까지 놀란 채 앉아 있었노라. 4. Then were assembled unto me every one that trembled at the words of the God of Israel, because of the transgression of those that had been carried away; and I sat astonied until the evening sacrifice.
5. ¶ 저녁 희생물을 드릴 때에 내가 근심 중에 일어나서 내 옷과 겉옷을 찢은 채 무릎을 꿇고 주저앉아 {주} 내 하나님을 향해 두 손을 펼치고 5. ¶ And at the evening sacrifice I arose up from my heaviness; and having rent my garment and my mantle, I fell upon my knees, and spread out my hands unto the LORD my God,
6. 말하기를, 오 내 하나님이여, 내가 주 곧 내 하나님을 향해 내 얼굴을 들기에 부끄럽고 낯이 뜨거우니 우리의 불법이 많아서 우리 머리 위로 넘치고 또 우리의 범법이 자라서 하늘들에까지 이르렀나이다. 6. And said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to thee, my God: for our iniquities are increased over our head, and our trespass is grown up unto the heavens.
7. 우리 조상들의 시대로부터 이 날에 이르기까지 우리가 큰 범법 가운데 거하였사오매 우리의 불법들로 인하여 주께서 우리와 우리 왕들과 우리 제사장들을 그 땅들의 왕들의 손에 넘겨주사 칼에 죽고 포로로 사로잡히고 노략을 당하게 하시며 얼굴을 당황하게 하심이 이 날과 같으니이다. 7. Since the days of our fathers have we been in a great trespass unto this day; and for our iniquities have we, our kings, and our priests, been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, and to a spoil, and to confusion of face, as it is this day.
8. 이제 {주} 우리 하나님께서 잠시 동안 은혜를 베푸사 남은 자를 우리에게 남겨 두어 피하게 하시고 또 자신의 거룩한 곳에서 우리에게 못을 주셨사오니 이것은 우리 하나님께서 우리의 눈을 밝히시고 우리를 우리의 속박 가운데서 조금 소생시키려 하심이니이다. 8. And now for a little space grace hath been shewed from the LORD our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage.
9. 우리가 노예가 되었을지라도 우리 하나님께서 우리를 우리의 속박 가운데 버리지 아니하시고 오히려 페르시아 왕들의 눈앞에서 우리에게 긍휼을 베푸사 우리를 소생시키시며 우리 하나님의 집을 세우게 하시고 또 그것의 황폐함을 보수하게 하시며 유다와 예루살렘에서 우리에게 성벽을 주셨나이다. 9. For we were bondmen; yet our God hath not forsaken us in our bondage, but hath extended mercy unto us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us a reviving, to set up the house of our God, and to repair the desolations thereof, and to give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem.
10. 오 우리 하나님이여, 우리가 주의 명령들을 버렸사오니 이제 이 일 뒤에 무슨 말을 하오리이까? 10. And now, O our God, what shall we say after this? for we have forsaken thy commandments,
11. 그 명령들은 전에 주께서 주의 종 대언자들을 통해 명령하신 것이니 이르시되, 너희가 가서 소유하려 하는 땅은 그 땅들의 백성들의 더러움과 가증한 일들로 말미암아 부정한 땅이니 그들이 이 끝에서부터 저 끝까지 자기들의 부정함으로 그것을 채웠느니라. 11. Which thou hast commanded by thy servants the prophets, saying, The land, unto which ye go to possess it, is an unclean land with the filthiness of the people of the lands, with their abominations, which have filled it from one end to another with their uncleanness.
12. 그런즉 이제 너희의 딸들을 그들의 아들들에게 주지 말고 또 그들의 딸들을 너희의 아들들을 위해 데려오지 말며 그들의 평강과 번영을 영원토록 구하지 말라. 그리하면 너희가 강성하여 그 땅의 좋은 것을 먹으며 그 땅을 너희 자손에게 영원토록 상속 재산으로 남기리라, 하셨나이다. 12. Now therefore give not your daughters unto their sons, neither take their daughters unto your sons, nor seek their peace or their wealth for ever: that ye may be strong, and eat the good of the land, and leave it for an inheritance to your children for ever.
13. 우리의 악한 행실과 큰 범법으로 인하여 모든 일이 우리에게 임하였사오나 우리 하나님께서는 우리의 불법들에 상응하는 형벌보다 적은 형벌을 우리에게 주시고 우리에게 이와 같은 구출을 베푸셨사오니 13. And after all that is come upon us for our evil deeds, and for our great trespass, seeing that thou our God hast punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and hast given us such deliverance as this;
14. 우리가 다시 주의 명령들을 어기고 이 가증한 일들을 행하는 백성들과 인척관계를 맺으리이까? 주께서 우리에게 분노하사 마침내 우리를 소멸시키시고 남을 자나 피할 자가 없게 하지 아니하시리이까? 14. Should we again break thy commandments, and join in affinity with the people of these abominations? wouldest not thou be angry with us till thou hadst consumed us, so that there should be no remnant nor escaping?
15. 오 {주} 이스라엘의 하나님이여, 주께서는 의로우시오니 우리가 피하여 여전히 남게 된 것이 이 날과 같나이다. 보소서, 우리가 이 일로 인하여 주 앞에 설 수 없으므로 우리의 범법 가운데서 주 앞에 있나이다, 하니라. 15. O LORD God of Israel, thou art righteous: for we remain yet escaped, as it is this day: behold, we are before thee in our trespasses: for we cannot stand before thee because of this.
1. 이제 에스라가 하나님의 집 앞에서 울며 엎드려 기도하고 자백할 때에 이스라엘 중에서 남자와 여자와 아이들의 심히 큰 회중이 그에게 모였으니 이는 백성이 심히 크게 울었기 때문이더라. 1. Now when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, there assembled unto him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children: for the people wept very sore.
2. 엘람의 아들들 중의 하나인 여히엘의 아들 스가냐가 에스라에게 응답하여 이르되, 우리가 우리 하나님을 대적하고 범법하여 그 땅의 백성으로부터 이방 아내를 취하였으나 이제 이 일에 관해 이스라엘에 아직 소망이 있나이다. 2. And Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answered and said unto Ezra, We have trespassed against our God, and have taken strange wives of the people of the land: yet now there is hope in Israel concerning this thing.
3. 그런즉 이제 우리가 우리 하나님과 언약을 맺고 내 주의 권고와 우리 하나님의 명령에 떠는 자들의 권고에 따라 모든 아내들과 그들에게서 태어난 자들을 버릴 터이니 그 일을 율법에 따라 행하소서. 3. Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and of those that tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law.
4. 이 일은 당신에게 속한 일이니 일어나소서. 우리도 당신과 함께하리니 크게 용기를 내시고 그 일을 행하소서, 하매 4. Arise; for this matter belongeth unto thee: we also will be with thee: be of good courage, and do it.
5. 그때에 에스라가 일어나 수제사장들과 레위 사람들과 온 이스라엘로 하여금 맹세하게 하여 그들이 이 말대로 행하게 하니 그들이 맹세하더라. 5. Then arose Ezra, and made the chief priests, the Levites, and all Israel, to swear that they should do according to this word. And they sware.
6. ¶ 이에 에스라가 하나님의 집 앞에서 일어나 엘리아십의 아들 요하난의 방으로 들어가니라. 그가 거기로 가서 사로잡혀 갔던 자들의 범법으로 인해 애곡하였으므로 빵도 먹지 아니하고 물도 마시지 아니하였더라. 6. ¶ Then Ezra rose up from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Johanan the son of Eliashib: and when he came thither, he did eat no bread, nor drink water: for he mourned because of the transgression of them that had been carried away.
7. 그들이 포로로 사로잡혀 갔던 자들의 모든 자손에게 유다와 예루살렘에서 두루 선포하여 그들이 예루살렘으로 함께 모이게 하고 7. And they made proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem unto all the children of the captivity, that they should gather themselves together unto Jerusalem;
8. 누구든지 통치자들과 장로들의 권고에 따라 사흘 안에 오려 하지 아니하면 그의 전 재산을 몰수하고 사로잡혀 갔던 자들의 회중에서 그를 분리시키게 하니라. 8. And that whosoever would not come within three days, according to the counsel of the princes and the elders, all his substance should be forfeited, and himself separated from the congregation of those that had been carried away.
9. ¶ 이에 유다와 베냐민의 모든 사람이 사흘 안에 예루살렘에 함께 모이니 이때는 구월 곧 그 달 이십일이더라. 온 백성이 하나님의 집의 거리에 앉아서 이 일로 인해 또 큰 비로 인해 떨었더라. 9. ¶ Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered themselves together unto Jerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth day of the month; and all the people sat in the street of the house of God, trembling because of this matter, and for the great rain.
10. 제사장 에스라가 일어나 그들에게 이르되, 너희가 죄를 짓고 이방 아내를 취하여 이스라엘의 범법을 증가시켰으니 10. And Ezra the priest stood up, and said unto them, Ye have transgressed, and have taken strange wives, to increase the trespass of Israel.
11. 그러므로 이제 {주} 너희 조상들의 하나님께 자백하고 그분께서 기뻐하시는 것을 행하여 이 땅 백성과 이방 아내들로부터 너희 자신을 분리할지니라, 하매 11. Now therefore make confession unto the LORD God of your fathers, and do his pleasure: and separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from the strange wives.
12. 이에 온 회중이 큰 소리로 응답하여 이르되, 당신이 말씀하신 대로 우리가 반드시 행하리이다. 12. Then all the congregation answered and said with a loud voice, As thou hast said, so must we do.
13. 그러나 백성이 많고 또 지금은 많은 비가 내리는 때이므로 우리가 능히 밖에 서지 못하며 우리 많은 사람이 이 일로 죄를 지었으므로 이 일을 하루 이틀에 처리할 수 없사오니 13. But the people are many, and it is a time of much rain, and we are not able to stand without, neither is this a work of one day or two: for we are many that have transgressed in this thing.
14. 이제 온 회중에서 우리의 치리자들은 서게 하시고 우리의 도시들에서 이방 아내를 취한 자들은 다 정한 시간에 각 도시의 장로들과 재판장들과 함께 오게 하여 마침내 이 일로 인한 우리 하나님의 맹렬한 진노가 우리에게서 떠나게 하소서, 하니라. 14. Let now our rulers of all the congregation stand, and let all them which have taken strange wives in our cities come at appointed times, and with them the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the fierce wrath of our God for this matter be turned from us.
15. ¶ 오직 아사헬의 아들 요나단과 디그바의 아들 야하시야만 이 일에 종사하였고 므술람과 레위 사람 삽브대가 그들을 도왔더라. 15. ¶ Only Jonathan the son of Asahel and Jahaziah the son of Tikvah were employed about this matter: and Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite helped them.
16. 포로로 사로잡혀 갔던 자들의 자손이 그대로 행하였고 제사장 에스라와 아버지들의 우두머리들 중의 몇 사람이 그들의 조상들의 집에 따라 그들의 이름대로 분리되되 그들 모두가 분리되어 이 일을 조사하려고 열째 달 초하루에 앉았더라. 16. And the children of the captivity did so. And Ezra the priest, with certain chief of the fathers, after the house of their fathers, and all of them by their names, were separated, and sat down in the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter.
17. 그들이 첫째 달 초하루에 이르러 이방 아내를 취한 모든 자에 대한 조사를 마치니라. 17. And they made an end with all the men that had taken strange wives by the first day of the first month.
18. ¶ 제사장들의 아들들 가운데서 이방 아내를 취한 것으로 드러난 자는 곧 예수아의 아들들 중에서 요사닥의 아들과 그의 형제 마아세야와 엘리에셀과 야립과 그달리야더라. 18. ¶ And among the sons of the priests there were found that had taken strange wives: namely, of the sons of Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren; Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah.
19. 그들이 자기 손을 내주며 맹세하여 스스로 자기 아내를 버리기로 하고 또 자기의 범법으로 인하여 유죄가 되었으므로 양 떼에서 숫양 한 마리를 드렸더라. 19. And they gave their hands that they would put away their wives; and being guilty, they offered a ram of the flock for their trespass.
20. 또 임멜의 아들들 중에서는 하나니와 스바댜요, 20. And of the sons of Immer; Hanani, and Zebadiah.
21. 하림의 아들들 중에서는 마아세야와 엘리야와 스마야와 여히엘과 웃시야요, 21. And of the sons of Harim; Maaseiah, and Elijah, and Shemaiah, and Jehiel, and Uzziah.
22. 바스훌의 아들들 중에서는 엘료에내와 마아세야와 이스마엘과 느다네엘과 요사밧과 엘라사였더라. 22. And of the sons of Pashur; Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethaneel, Jozabad, and Elasah.
23. 또 레위 사람들 중에서는 요사밧과 시므이와 글라야 (곧 글리다와) 브다히야와 유다와 엘리에셀이었더라. 23. Also of the Levites; Jozabad, and Shimei, and Kelaiah, (the same is Kelita,) Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer.
24. 또한 노래하는 자들 중에서는 엘리아십이요, 문지기들 중에서는 살룸과 델렘과 우리였더라. 24. Of the singers also; Eliashib: and of the porters; Shallum, and Telem, and Uri.
25. 또 이스라엘 중에서는 바로스의 아들들 중에서 라미야와 예시야와 말기야와 미야민과 엘르아살과 말기야와 브나야요, 25. Moreover of Israel: of the sons of Parosh; Ramiah, and Jeziah, and Malchiah, and Miamin, and Eleazar, and Malchijah, and Benaiah.
26. 엘람의 아들들 중에서는 맛다니야와 스가랴와 여히엘과 압디와 여레못과 엘리야요, 26. And of the sons of Elam; Mattaniah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, and Abdi, and Jeremoth, and Eliah.
27. 또 삿두의 아들들 중에서는 엘료에내와 엘리아십과 맛다니야와 여레못과 사밧과 아시사요, 27. And of the sons of Zattu; Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah, and Jeremoth, and Zabad, and Aziza.
28. 또한 베배의 아들들 중에서는 여호하난과 하나냐와 삽배와 아들래요, 28. Of the sons also of Bebai; Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, and Athlai.
29. 또 바니의 아들들 중에서는 므술람과 말룩과 아다야와 야숩과 스알과 라못이요, 29. And of the sons of Bani; Meshullam, Malluch, and Adaiah, Jashub, and Sheal, and Ramoth.
30. 또 바핫모압의 아들들 중에서는 아드나와 글랄과 브나야와 마아세야와 맛다니야와 브살레엘과 빈누이와 므낫세요, 30. And of the sons of Pahath-moab; Adna, and Chelal, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezaleel, and Binnui, and Manasseh.
31. 또 하림의 아들들 중에서는 엘리에셀과 잇시야와 말기야와 스마야와 시므온과 31. And of the sons of Harim; Eliezer, Ishijah, Malchiah, Shemaiah, Shimeon,
32. 베냐민과 말룩과 스마랴요, 32. Benjamin, Malluch, and Shemariah.
33. 하숨의 아들들 중에서는 맛드내와 맛닷다와 사밧과 엘리블렛과 여레매와 므낫세와 시므이요, 33. Of the sons of Hashum; Mattenai, Mattathah, Zabad, Eliphelet, Jeremai, Manasseh, and Shimei.
34. 바니의 아들들 중에서는 마아대와 아므람과 우엘과 34. Of the sons of Bani; Maadai, Amram, and Uel,
35. 브나야와 베드야와 글루흐와 35. Benaiah, Bedeiah, Chelluh,
36. 바니야와 므레못과 엘리아십과 36. Vaniah, Meremoth, Eliashib,
37. 맛다니야와 맛드내와 야아사우와 37. Mattaniah, Mattenai, and Jaasau,
38. 또 바니와 빈누이와 시므이와 38. And Bani, and Binnui, Shimei,
39. 또 셀레미야와 나단과 아다야와 39. And Shelemiah, and Nathan, and Adaiah,
40. 막나드배와 사새와 사래와 40. Machnadebai, Shashai, Sharai,
41. 아사레엘과 셀레미야와 스마랴와 41. Azareel, and Shelemiah, Shemariah,
42. 살룸과 아마랴와 요셉이요, 42. Shallum, Amariah, and Joseph.
43. 느보의 아들들 중에서는 여이엘과 맛디디야와 사밧과 스비나와 야다우와 요엘과 브나야더라. 43. Of the sons of Nebo; Jeiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina, Jadau, and Joel, Benaiah.
44. 이들이 다 이방 아내를 취하였으며 그들 중에서 몇 사람은 아내들을 취하고 그들을 통해 아이들을 가졌더라. 44. All these had taken strange wives: and some of them had wives by whom they had children.
