다니엘
1. 유다 왕 여호야김의 통치 제삼년에 바빌론 왕 느부갓네살이 예루살렘에 이르러 그곳을 에워쌌더니 1. In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon unto Jerusalem, and besieged it.
2. [주]께서 유다 왕 여호야김과 하나님의 집의 기구 중 일부를 그의 손에 넘겨주시매 그가 그것들을 시날 땅에 있는 자기 신의 집에 가져가서 그 기구들을 자기 신의 보물 창고에 들여 놓았더라. 2. And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.
3. ¶ 왕이 자기 내시들의 우두머리 아스부나스에게 말하여 그가 이스라엘 자손과 왕의 씨와 통치자들 중에서 몇 사람 3. ¶ And the king spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king's seed, and of the princes;
4. 곧 흠이 없으며 잘생기고 모든 지혜에 능숙하며 지식을 두루 갖추고 과학을 이해하여 왕의 궁궐에 설 만한 능력을 갖춘 아이들을 데려오게 하고 그들에게 갈대아 사람들의 학문과 말을 가르치게 하니라. 4. Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.
5. 또 왕이 지정하여 그들에게 왕의 음식과 왕이 마신 포도주에서 날마다 필요한 양식을 주어 이렇게 삼 년 동안 그들을 양육하였으니 이것은 삼 년이 끝난 뒤에 그들이 왕 앞에 서게 하려 함이었더라. 5. And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king's meat, and of the wine which he drank: so nourishing them three years, that at the end thereof they might stand before the king.
6. 이제 이들 가운데는 유다 자손에 속한 다니엘과 하나냐와 미사엘과 아사랴가 있었는데 6. Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:
7. 내시들의 통치자가 그들에게 이름을 주었더라. 그가 다니엘에게는 벨드사살이라는 이름을 주고 하나냐에게는 사드락, 미사엘에게는 메삭, 아사랴에게는 아벳느고라는 이름을 주었더라. 7. Unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave unto Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abed-nego.
8. ¶ 그러나 다니엘은 왕이 정해 준 음식이나 왕이 마신 포도주로 자기를 더럽히지 아니하겠다고 마음속에 작정하였으므로 자기를 더럽히지 아니하려고 내시들의 통치자에게 요청하니 8. ¶ But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
9. 이제 하나님께서 다니엘을 인도하사 내시들의 통치자에게 호의와 친절한 사랑을 받게 하시니라. 9. Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs.
10. 내시들의 통치자가 다니엘에게 이르되, 내가 내 주 왕을 두려워하노라. 왕이 너희의 먹을 것과 너희의 마실 것을 지정하셨거늘 너희 얼굴이 너희 부류에 속한 아이들보다 못한 것을 그분께서 보아야 할 까닭이 무엇이냐? 그렇게 되면 너희가 왕을 위해 내 머리를 위태롭게 하리로다, 하니라. 10. And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? then shall ye make me endanger my head to the king.
11. 그때에 다니엘이 멜살 곧 내시들의 통치자가 다니엘과 하나냐와 미사엘과 아사랴를 감독하게 하려고 세운 자에게 이르되, 11. Then said Daniel to Melzar, whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah,
12. 청하오니 당신의 종들을 열흘 동안 시험하사 그들이 우리에게 콩을 주어 먹게 하고 물을 주어 마시게 한 뒤에 12. Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink.
13. 당신 앞에서 우리의 얼굴과 왕이 정해 준 음식을 먹는 아이들의 얼굴을 관찰하게 하시고 당신이 보는 대로 당신의 종들에게 행하소서, 하매 13. Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king's meat: and as thou seest, deal with thy servants.
14. 이에 그가 이 일에서 그들의 말에 동의하여 열흘 동안 그들을 시험하더라. 14. So he consented to them in this matter, and proved them ten days.
15. 열흘이 끝났을 때에 그들의 얼굴이 왕이 정해 준 음식을 먹은 모든 아이들보다 더욱 아름답고 살이 더욱 기름지게 보이니라. 15. And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king's meat.
16. 이에 멜살이 그들에게 정해 준 음식과 그들이 마실 포도주를 거두어가고 그들에게 콩을 주니라. 16. Thus Melzar took away the portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drink; and gave them pulse.
17. ¶ 이 네 아이들로 말하건대 하나님께서 그들에게 지식을 주시고 모든 학문과 지혜에서 능숙함을 주셨으며 또 다니엘은 모든 환상과 꿈을 깨달아 알더라. 17. ¶ As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
18. 그가 그들을 데리고 들어와야 한다고 왕이 말한 날들이 이제 끝나니 그때에 내시들의 통치자가 그들을 데리고 느부갓네살 앞으로 들어오니라. 18. Now at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.
19. 왕이 그들과 대화하고 그들 모두 가운데 다니엘과 하나냐와 미사엘과 아사랴와 같은 자를 찾지 못하였으므로 그들을 왕 앞에 서게 하니라. 19. And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king.
20. 왕이 지혜와 명철에 대한 모든 문제에 관하여 그들에게 묻는 가운데 그들이 자기의 온 영토 안의 모든 마술사와 별을 살피는 자보다 열 배나 나은 줄을 아니라. 20. And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.
21. 다니엘은 고레스 왕의 제일년까지 계속해서 있었더라. 21. And Daniel continued even unto the first year of king Cyrus.
1. 느부갓네살의 통치 제이년에 느부갓네살이 꿈들을 꾸매 그것들로 말미암아 그의 영이 근심하고 그의 잠이 깨서 달아나니라. 1. And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, wherewith his spirit was troubled, and his sleep brake from him.
2. 그때에 왕이 자기 꿈들을 왕에게 알려 주도록 마술사들과 별을 살피는 자들과 마법사들과 갈대아 사람들을 부르라고 명령하매 이에 그들이 와서 왕 앞에 서니라. 2. Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, for to shew the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king.
3. 왕이 그들에게 이르되, 내가 한 꿈을 꾸고 그 꿈을 알기 위해 내 영이 근심하였도다, 하매 3. And the king said unto them, I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit was troubled to know the dream.
4. 이에 갈대아 사람들이 왕에게 시리아 말로 이르되, 오 왕이여, 영원토록 사시옵소서. 그 꿈을 왕의 종들에게 말씀하소서. 우리가 그 해석을 보여 드리겠나이다, 하니 4. Then spake the Chaldeans to the king in Syriack, O king, live for ever: tell thy servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation.
5. 왕이 갈대아 사람들에게 응답하여 이르되, 그것이 내게서 떠났도다. 만일 너희가 그 꿈과 그것의 해석을 내게 알려 주지 아니하면 너희를 여러 조각으로 쪼개며 너희 집들을 거름더미로 만들 것이요, 5. The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if ye will not make known unto me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill.
6. 만일 너희가 그 꿈과 그것의 해석을 보이면 선물과 보상과 큰 명예를 내게서 받으리라. 그런즉 그 꿈과 그것의 해석을 내게 보이라, 하거늘 6. But if ye shew the dream, and the interpretation thereof, ye shall receive of me gifts and rewards and great honour: therefore shew me the dream, and the interpretation thereof.
7. 그들이 다시 응답하여 이르되, 왕께서는 그 꿈을 자신의 종들에게 이르소서. 그리하면 우리가 그것의 해석을 보여 드리겠나이다, 하매 7. They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation of it.
8. 왕이 응답하여 이르되, 내가 분명히 아노라. 그것이 내게서 떠났음을 너희가 알므로 시간을 벌려 하는도다. 8. The king answered and said, I know of certainty that ye would gain the time, because ye see the thing is gone from me.
9. 그러나 너희가 그 꿈을 내게 알려 주지 아니하면 너희를 위한 칙령은 오직 하나뿐이니 이는 때가 변할 때까지 너희가 거짓되고 부패한 말을 예비하여 내 앞에서 말하려 하였기 때문이라. 그러므로 내게 그 꿈을 이르라. 그리하면 너희가 능히 그것의 해석도 내게 보일 줄을 내가 알리라, 하더라. 9. But if ye will not make known unto me the dream, there is but one decree for you: for ye have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me, till the time be changed: therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that ye can shew me the interpretation thereof.
10. ¶ 갈대아 사람들이 왕 앞에서 응답하여 이르되, 땅에는 왕의 그 일을 보여 줄 사람이 없나이다. 그러므로 어떤 왕이나 군주나 치리자도 이런 일들을 마술사나 별을 살피는 자나 갈대아 사람에게 물어 본 적이 없었나이다. 10. ¶ The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the earth that can shew the king's matter: therefore there is no king, lord, nor ruler, that asked such things at any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean.
11. 왕이 요구하시는 것은 드문 일이니이다. 육체와 함께 거하지 아니하는 신들 외에는 왕 앞에서 그것을 보여 줄 자가 아무도 없나이다, 하매 11. And it is a rare thing that the king requireth, and there is none other that can shew it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.
12. 왕이 이런 까닭으로 분노하고 심히 격노하여 바빌론의 모든 지혜자들을 멸하라고 명령하니라. 12. For this cause the king was angry and very furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.
13. 지혜자들을 죽이라는 칙령이 나아가니 그들이 다니엘과 그의 동료들을 죽이려고 찾았더라. 13. And the decree went forth that the wise men should be slain; and they sought Daniel and his fellows to be slain.
14. ¶ 그때에 왕의 호위대장 아리옥이 나아가서 바빌론의 지혜자들을 죽이려 하매 다니엘이 그에게 계략과 지혜로 응답하니라. 14. ¶ Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom to Arioch the captain of the king's guard, which was gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon:
15. 그가 왕의 대장 아리옥에게 응답하여 이르되, 왕이 내린 칙령이 어찌하여 그리 급하니이까? 하니 이에 아리옥이 그 일을 다니엘에게 알리매 15. He answered and said to Arioch the king's captain, Why is the decree so hasty from the king? Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel.
16. 그때에 다니엘이 들어가서 왕에게 요청하여 왕이 자기에게 시간을 주면 자기가 왕에게 그 해석을 보여 주겠다고 하니라. 16. Then Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would give him time, and that he would shew the king the interpretation.
17. 그때에 다니엘이 자기 집으로 가서 자기 동료 하나냐와 미사엘과 아사랴에게 그 일을 알렸으니 17. Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions:
18. 이것은 그들이 이 은밀한 일에 관하여 하늘의 하나님의 긍휼을 구하게 함으로써 다니엘과 그의 동료들이 바빌론의 나머지 지혜자들과 함께 죽임을 당하지 아니하게 하려 함이더라. 18. That they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret; that Daniel and his fellows should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.
19. ¶ 그때에 그 은밀한 일이 밤의 환상 속에서 다니엘에게 계시되매 그때에 다니엘이 하늘의 하나님을 찬송하니라. 19. ¶ Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.
20. 다니엘이 응답하여 이르되, 영원무궁토록 하나님의 이름을 찬송할지니 지혜와 능력이 그분께 속하였도다. 20. Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:
21. 그분께서는 때와 시기를 바꾸시며 왕들을 폐하시고 왕들을 세우시며 지혜로운 자에게 지혜를 주시고 명철을 아는 자들에게 지식을 주시는도다. 21. And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:
22. 그분께서는 깊고 은밀한 것들을 계시하시고 어둠 속에 있는 것을 아시며 또 빛이 그분과 함께 거하는도다. 22. He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.
23. 오 내 조상들의 하나님이여, 주께서 내게 지혜와 능력을 주시고 우리가 주께 구한 것을 이제 내게 알려 주셨사오니 내가 주께 감사하오며 주를 찬양하나이다. 이제 주께서 왕의 일을 우리에게 알려 주셨나이다, 하니라. 23. I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king's matter.
24. ¶ 그러므로 다니엘이 들어가서 왕이 바빌론의 지혜자들을 멸하기 위해 세운 아리옥에게 이르니라. 그가 가서 그에게 이같이 이르되, 바빌론의 지혜자들을 멸하지 말고 나를 왕 앞으로 데려가소서. 그리하면 내가 왕에게 그 해석을 보여 드리리이다, 하니라. 24. ¶ Therefore Daniel went in unto Arioch, whom the king had ordained to destroy the wise men of Babylon: he went and said thus unto him; Destroy not the wise men of Babylon: bring me in before the king, and I will shew unto the king the interpretation.
25. 이에 아리옥이 급히 다니엘을 왕 앞으로 데려가고 왕에게 이같이 이르되, 내가 유다의 포로들 중에서 한 사람을 찾았사오니 그가 왕께 그 해석을 알려 드리리이다, 하니라. 25. Then Arioch brought in Daniel before the king in haste, and said thus unto him, I have found a man of the captives of Judah, that will make known unto the king the interpretation.
26. 왕이 벨드사살이라는 이름을 가진 다니엘에게 응답하여 이르되, 내가 본 꿈과 그것의 해석을 네가 능히 내게 알려 줄 수 있느냐? 하니 26. The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Art thou able to make known unto me the dream which I have seen, and the interpretation thereof?
27. 다니엘이 왕 앞에서 대답하여 이르되, 왕이 다그쳐 물으신 그 은밀한 일은 지혜자들이나 별을 살피는 자들이나 마술사들이나 점쟁이들이 능히 왕께 보여 드릴 수 없는 것이니이다. 27. Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, shew unto the king;
28. 그러나 은밀한 일들을 계시하시며 마지막 날들에 있을 일을 느부갓네살 왕에게 알려 주시는 한 하나님이 하늘에 계시나이다. 왕의 침상에서 본 왕의 꿈 곧 왕의 머리 속의 환상들은 이러하니이다. 28. But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these;
29. 오 왕이여, 왕으로 말하건대 왕의 침상에서 왕의 마음에 일어난 생각들은 이후에 일어날 일이오며 은밀한 일들을 계시하시는 이가 앞으로 일어날 일을 왕에게 알려 주시나이다. 29. As for thee, O king, thy thoughts came into thy mind upon thy bed, what should come to pass hereafter: and he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what shall come to pass.
30. 그러나 나로 말하건대 그분께서 이 은밀한 일을 내게 계시하신 것은 살아 있는 어떤 사람보다도 내게 더 많이 있는 어떤 지혜 때문이 아니니이다. 다만 이 일은 왕께 그 해석을 알리어 왕으로 하여금 왕의 마음의 생각들을 알게 할 자들을 위한 것이니이다. 30. But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living, but for their sakes that shall make known the interpretation to the king, and that thou mightest know the thoughts of thy heart.
31. ¶ 오 왕이여, 왕이 보셨사온대, 보소서, 큰 형상이니이다. 이 큰 형상이 왕 앞에 섰는데 그것의 광채가 뛰어나며 그것의 형태가 두려웠고 31. ¶ Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof was terrible.
32. 이 형상의 머리는 정금이요, 그의 가슴과 두 팔은 은이요, 그의 배와 두 넓적다리는 놋이요, 32. This image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass,
33. 그의 두 다리는 쇠요, 그의 두 발은 얼마는 쇠요, 얼마는 진흙이었나이다. 33. His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay.
34. 왕이 보셨는데 마침내 손을 대지 아니하고 깎아 낸 돌이 그 형상을 치되 쇠와 진흙으로 된 그의 두 발을 쳐서 그것들을 산산조각 내매 34. Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.
35. 그때에 쇠와 진흙과 놋과 은과 금이 다 산산조각 나서 여름 타작마당의 겨같이 되어 바람에 쓸려감으로 그것들의 자리를 찾지 못하였고 그 형상을 친 돌은 큰 산이 되어 온 땅을 채웠나이다. 35. Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.
36. ¶ 그 꿈은 이러한즉 우리가 왕 앞에서 그것의 해석을 고하리이다. 36. ¶ This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king.
37. 오 왕이여, 왕은 왕들의 왕이시오니 하늘의 하나님께서 왕에게 왕국과 권능과 세력과 영광을 주셨나이다. 37. Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory.
38. 사람들의 자녀들이 어느 곳에 거하든지 그분께서 들의 짐승들과 하늘의 날짐승들 곧 그것들을 왕의 손에 주시고 왕을 그 모든 것을 다스릴 치리자로 삼으셨나니 왕은 이 금 머리이니이다. 38. And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.
39. 왕 이후에 왕의 왕국보다 못한 다른 왕국이 일어날 것이요, 셋째로 또 다른 놋 왕국이 온 땅을 다스릴 것이며 39. And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.
40. 넷째 왕국은 쇠같이 강하리니 쇠는 모든 물건을 산산조각 내며 정복하나이다. 이 모든 것을 부수는 쇠같이 그 왕국이 모든 것을 산산조각 내고 상하게 하리이다. 40. And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise.
41. 왕께서 그 두 발과 발가락들이 얼마는 토기장이의 진흙이요, 얼마는 쇠인 것을 보신 것 같이 그 왕국이 나누일 것이로되 왕께서 쇠와 진흙이 섞인 것을 보신 것 같이 그 왕국에 쇠의 강함이 있으리이다. 41. And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay.
42. 그 두 발의 발가락들이 얼마는 쇠요, 얼마는 진흙인 것 같이 그 왕국도 얼마는 강하되 얼마는 부서질 것이며 42. And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.
43. 왕께서 쇠와 진흙이 섞인 것을 보신 것 같이 그들이 자신을 사람들의 씨와 섞을 터이나 쇠와 진흙이 섞이지 아니함같이 그들이 서로에게 달라붙지 못하리이다. 43. And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.
44. 이 왕들의 시대에 하늘의 하나님께서 한 왕국을 세우실 터인데 그것은 결코 멸망하지 아니하리이다. 그 왕국은 다른 백성에게 남겨지지 아니하며 이 모든 왕국들을 산산조각 내어 소멸시키고 영원히 서리이다. 44. And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.
45. 손을 대지 아니하고 산에서 깎아 낸 돌이 쇠와 놋과 진흙과 은과 금을 산산조각 낸 것을 왕께서 보셨사온즉 위대하신 하나님께서 이후에 있을 일을 왕에게 알리셨나이다. 그 꿈은 확실하며 그것의 해석은 분명하나이다, 하니라. 45. Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.
46. ¶ 그때에 느부갓네살 왕이 얼굴을 대고 엎드려 다니엘에게 경배하고 명령하여 그들이 그에게 봉헌물과 향기로운 냄새를 드리게 하니라. 46. ¶ Then the king Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and worshipped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odours unto him.
47. 왕이 다니엘에게 응답하여 이르되, 네가 능히 이 은밀한 일을 드러내는 것을 보니 진실로 너희 하나님은 신들의 [신]이시요 왕들의 [주]시며 은밀한 일들을 드러내시는 이시로다, 하고 47. The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing thou couldest reveal this secret.
48. 그때에 왕이 다니엘을 위대한 자로 삼으며 그에게 큰 선물을 많이 주고 그를 바빌론 온 지방을 다스릴 치리자로 삼으며 바빌론의 모든 지혜자들을 다스릴 총독들의 우두머리로 삼으니라. 48. Then the king made Daniel a great man, and gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors over all the wise men of Babylon.
49. 그때에 다니엘이 왕에게 요청하매 왕이 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고를 세워 바빌론 지방의 일들을 다스리게 하였으나 다니엘은 왕의 문에 앉았더라. 49. Then Daniel requested of the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, over the affairs of the province of Babylon: but Daniel sat in the gate of the king.
1. 느부갓네살 왕이 금으로 한 형상을 만들었는데 그것의 높이는 육십 큐빗이요, 너비는 육 큐빗이더라. 왕이 그것을 바빌론 지방의 두라 평야에 세웠더라. 1. Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.
2. 그때에 느부갓네살 왕이 사람을 보내어 통치자들과 총독들과 대장들과 재판관들과 재무관들과 조언자들과 보안관들과 여러 지방의 모든 치리자들을 함께 모아 느부갓네살 왕이 세운 형상의 봉헌식에 오게 하매 2. Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the princes, the governors, and the captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image which Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
3. 이에 통치자들과 총독들과 대장들과 재판관들과 재무관들과 조언자들과 보안관들과 여러 지방의 모든 치리자들이 느부갓네살 왕이 세운 형상의 봉헌식에 함께 모여 느부갓네살이 세운 형상 앞에 서니라. 3. Then the princes, the governors, and captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, were gathered together unto the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.
4. 그때에 선포하는 자가 크게 외쳐 이르되, 오 백성들과 민족들과 언어들아, 왕께서 너희에게 명령하시느니라. 4. Then an herald cried aloud, To you it is commanded, O people, nations, and languages,
5. 너희는 코넷과 피리와 하프와 트럼본과 비파와 줄 달린 타악기와 온갖 음악 소리를 들을 때에 엎드려서 느부갓네살 왕이 세운 금 형상에게 경배하라. 5. That at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up:
6. 누구든지 엎드려서 경배하지 아니하는 자는 그 즉시 맹렬히 불타는 용광로 한가운데 던져지리라, 하니 6. And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.
7. 그러므로 그때에 곧 모든 백성들이 코넷과 피리와 하프와 트럼본과 비파와 온갖 음악 소리를 들을 때에 모든 백성들과 민족들과 언어들이 엎드려서 느부갓네살 왕이 세운 금 형상에게 경배하니라. 7. Therefore at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and all kinds of musick, all the people, the nations, and the languages, fell down and worshipped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
8. ¶ 그런 까닭에 그때에 어떤 갈대아 사람들이 가까이 나아와 유대인들을 고소하니라. 8. ¶ Wherefore at that time certain Chaldeans came near, and accused the Jews.
9. 그들이 느부갓네살 왕에게 말하여 이르되, 오 왕이여, 영원토록 사시옵소서. 9. They spake and said to the king Nebuchadnezzar, O king, live for ever.
10. 오 왕이여, 왕께서 칙령을 내려 이르시되, 코넷과 피리와 하프와 트럼본과 비파와 줄 달린 타악기와 온갖 음악 소리를 듣는 모든 사람은 엎드려서 금 형상에게 경배할지니라. 10. Thou, O king, hast made a decree, that every man that shall hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, shall fall down and worship the golden image:
11. 누구든지 엎드려서 경배하지 아니하는 자는 맹렬히 불타는 용광로 한가운데 던져지리라, 하셨나이다. 11. And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth, that he should be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.
12. 왕께서 바빌론 지방의 일들을 다스리게 하려고 세우신 어떤 유대인들이 있으니 곧 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고이니이다. 오 왕이여, 이 사람들이 왕을 중히 여기지 아니하였고 왕의 신들을 섬기지 아니하며 왕께서 세우신 금 형상에게 경배하지 아니하나이다, 하니라. 12. There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
13. ¶ 그때에 느부갓네살이 격노하고 분노하여 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고를 데려오라고 명령하니 이에 그들이 이 사람들을 왕 앞에 데려오니라. 13. ¶ Then Nebuchadnezzar in his rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego. Then they brought these men before the king.
14. 느부갓네살이 그들에게 말하여 이르되, 오 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고야, 너희가 내 신들을 섬기지 아니하며 내가 세운 금 형상에게 경배하지 아니한다는 것이 사실이냐? 14. Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up?
15. 이제라도 너희가 예비하였다가 코넷과 피리와 하프와 트럼본과 비파와 줄 달린 타악기와 온갖 음악 소리를 들을 때에 엎드려서 내가 만든 형상에게 경배하면 좋으려니와 만일 너희가 경배하지 아니하면 너희를 그 즉시 맹렬히 불타는 용광로 한가운데 던져 넣으리니 너희를 내 손에서 건져 낼 그 [신]이 누구이겠느냐? 하매 15. Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?
16. 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고가 왕에게 대답하여 이르되, 오 느부갓네살이여, 우리가 이 일에 대해 왕께 대답하기를 염려하지 아니하나이다. 16. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.
17. 오 왕이여, 그리될지라도 우리가 섬기는 우리 하나님께서 맹렬히 불타는 용광로에서 능히 우리를 건져 내시겠고 또한 그분께서 왕의 손에서 우리를 건져 내시리이다. 17. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.
18. 그러나 그리하지 아니하실지라도, 오 왕이여, 우리가 왕의 신들을 섬기지 아니하고 왕께서 세우신 금 형상에게 경배하지도 아니할 줄을 왕은 아옵소서, 하니라. 18. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
19. ¶ 그때에 느부갓네살이 분노가 가득하여 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고를 향해 자기의 얼굴 모습을 바꾸니라. 그런 까닭에 그가 말하고 명령하여 그들이 그 용광로를 평소에 뜨겁게 하던 것보다 일곱 배나 더 뜨겁게 하도록 하고 19. ¶ Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated.
20. 또 자기 군대에서 가장 강한 용사들에게 명령하여 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고를 묶어 맹렬히 불타는 용광로 한가운데로 던져 넣게 하니라. 20. And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.
21. 이에 이 사람들이 겉옷과 정강이받이와 모자와 다른 옷들을 입은 채 결박당하여 맹렬히 불타는 용광로 한가운데로 던져졌더라. 21. Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
22. 왕의 명령이 긴급하고 용광로가 심히 뜨거웠으므로 불꽃이 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고를 붙든 자들을 죽였고 22. Therefore because the king's commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego.
23. 이 세 사람 곧 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고는 결박당한 채 맹렬히 불타는 용광로 한가운데로 떨어졌더라. 23. And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
24. 그때에 느부갓네살 왕이 깜짝 놀라 급히 일어나 자기의 조언자들에게 말하여 이르되, 우리가 세 사람을 결박하여 불 한가운데로 던지지 아니하였느냐? 하니 그들이 왕에게 대답하여 이르되, 오 왕이여, 옳소이다, 하매 24. Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.
25. 그가 응답하여 이르되, 보라, 내가 보니 결박이 풀린 네 사람이 불 한가운데서 걷고 있는데 그들이 아무 해도 입지 아니하였고 그 넷째의 형체는 하나님의 [아들]과 같도다, 하더라. 25. He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.
26. ¶ 그때에 느부갓네살이 맹렬히 불타는 용광로 아귀에 가까이 가서 말하여 이르되, 지극히 높으신 하나님의 종 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고야, 너희는 나와서 이리로 오라, 하니 이에 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고가 불 한가운데서 나오매 26. ¶ Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, came forth of the midst of the fire.
27. 통치자들과 총독들과 대장들과 왕의 조언자들이 함께 모여 이 사람들을 보니 불이 그들의 몸에 힘을 쓰지 못하였고 그들의 머리털 하나도 그을리지 못하였으며 그들의 겉옷도 변하게 하지 못하였고 불 냄새도 그들에게 다가가지 못하였더라. 27. And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king's counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.
28. 이에 느부갓네살이 말하여 이르되, 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고의 하나님을 찬송할지로다. 그분께서 자신의 천사를 보내사 자신을 신뢰하며 왕의 말을 바꾸고 자기 몸을 바친 자신의 종들을 건지셨으니 이것은 그들이 그들의 하나님 외에 어떤 다른 신을 섬기거나 그 신에게 경배하지 못하게 하려 하심이라. 28. Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king's word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.
29. 그러므로 내가 칙령을 내리노니 무엇이든지 잘못 말하여 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고의 하나님을 대적하는 모든 백성과 민족과 언어는 여러 조각으로 쪼개고 그들의 집을 거름더미로 삼을지니라. 이런 식으로 능히 사람을 건져 낼 다른 [신]은 없느니라, 하고 29. Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.
30. 그때에 왕이 바빌론 지방에서 사드락과 메삭과 아벳느고를 높이니라. 30. Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, in the province of Babylon.
1. 느부갓네살 왕은 온 땅에 거하는 모든 백성들과 민족들과 언어들에게 조서를 내리노니 너희에게 평강이 많이 있기를 원하노라. 1. Nebuchadnezzar the king, unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.
2. 나는 높으신 하나님께서 내게 행하신 표적들과 이적들을 알리는 것이 좋을 줄로 생각하였노라. 2. I thought it good to shew the signs and wonders that the high God hath wrought toward me.
3. 그분의 표적들은 어찌 그리 큰가! 그분의 이적들은 어찌 그리 능한가! 그분의 왕국은 영존하는 왕국이요, 그분의 통치는 대대에 이르는도다. 3. How great are his signs! and how mighty are his wonders! his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to generation.
4. ¶ 나 느부갓네살이 내 집에서 안식하며 내 궁궐에서 번창할 때에 4. ¶ I Nebuchadnezzar was at rest in mine house, and flourishing in my palace:
5. 나를 무섭게 하는 한 꿈을 보고 내 침상에서의 생각들과 내 머리 속의 환상들로 말미암아 근심하였노라. 5. I saw a dream which made me afraid, and the thoughts upon my bed and the visions of my head troubled me.
6. 그러므로 내가 칙령을 내려 바빌론의 모든 지혜자들을 내 앞으로 데려다가 그들이 그 꿈의 해석을 내게 알려 주게 하였느니라. 6. Therefore made I a decree to bring in all the wise men of Babylon before me, that they might make known unto me the interpretation of the dream.
7. 그때에 마술사들과 별을 살피는 자들과 갈대아 사람들과 점쟁이들이 들어왔기에 내가 그 꿈을 그들 앞에 말하였으나 그들이 그것의 해석을 내게 알려 주지 못하였노라. 7. Then came in the magicians, the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers: and I told the dream before them; but they did not make known unto me the interpretation thereof.
8. ¶ 그러나 마지막에 다니엘이 내 앞에 들어왔는데 그의 이름은 내 신의 이름을 따라 벨드사살이요, 그 속에는 거룩한 신들의 영이 있느니라. 내가 그 앞에서 그 꿈을 말하여 이르되, 8. ¶ But at the last Daniel came in before me, whose name was Belteshazzar, according to the name of my god, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods: and before him I told the dream, saying,
9. 오 마술사들의 우두머리 벨드사살아, 네 속에는 거룩한 신들의 영이 있으므로 어떤 은밀한 일도 너를 근심하게 하지 못하는 줄을 내가 아노니 그런즉 내가 본 내 꿈의 환상들과 그것의 해석을 내게 말하라. 9. O Belteshazzar, master of the magicians, because I know that the spirit of the holy gods is in thee, and no secret troubleth thee, tell me the visions of my dream that I have seen, and the interpretation thereof.
10. 내가 침상에서 본 내 머리 속의 환상들은 이러하니라. 내가 보니, 보라, 땅의 한가운데 한 나무가 있는데 그것의 높이가 높더라. 10. Thus were the visions of mine head in my bed; I saw, and behold a tree in the midst of the earth, and the height thereof was great.
11. 그 나무가 자라서 강하게 되고 그것의 높이가 하늘에까지 닿아 그것의 모습이 온 땅의 끝까지 이르렀으며 11. The tree grew, and was strong, and the height thereof reached unto heaven, and the sight thereof to the end of all the earth:
12. 그것의 잎사귀들은 아름답고 그것의 열매는 많아서 그 나무 안에 모든 사람이 먹을 것이 있고 또 들의 짐승들이 그 밑의 그늘에 있으며 하늘의 날짐승들이 그것의 가지들에 깃들이고 모든 육체가 거기서 먹을 것을 얻더라. 12. The leaves thereof were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all: the beasts of the field had shadow under it, and the fowls of the heaven dwelt in the boughs thereof, and all flesh was fed of it.
13. 내가 내 침상에서 내 머리 속의 환상들 속에서 보는데, 보라, 한 순찰자 곧 한 거룩한 자가 하늘로부터 내려와 13. I saw in the visions of my head upon my bed, and, behold, a watcher and an holy one came down from heaven;
14. 크게 외치며 이같이 이르기를, 그 나무를 베어 내고 그것의 가지들을 자르며 그것의 잎사귀들을 흔들어 떨고 그것의 열매를 흩으며 짐승들을 그 밑에서 떠나게 하고 날짐승들을 그것의 가지들에서 떠나게 하라. 14. He cried aloud, and said thus, Hew down the tree, and cut off his branches, shake off his leaves, and scatter his fruit: let the beasts get away from under it, and the fowls from his branches:
15. 그럼에도 불구하고 그것의 뿌리들의 그루터기는 땅에 남겨 두되 쇠와 놋 띠로 매고 들의 연한 풀 가운데 있게 하라. 또 그것을 하늘의 이슬에 젖게 하며 그의 몫이 땅의 풀 가운데서 짐승들과 함께 있게 하라. 15. Nevertheless leave the stump of his roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts in the grass of the earth:
16. 그의 마음을 바꾸어 사람의 마음과 같지 아니하게 하고 짐승의 마음을 그에게 주며 일곱 때가 그의 위로 지나가게 하라. 16. Let his heart be changed from man's, and let a beast's heart be given unto him; and let seven times pass over him.
17. 이 일은 순찰자들의 칙령에 따른 것이요, 이 요구는 거룩한 자들의 말에 따른 것이니 그 목적은 [지극히 높으신 이]가 사람들의 왕국에서 다스리시고 자기 뜻대로 그것을 누구에게든지 주시며 또 사람들 중에서 가장 비천한 자를 그것 위에 세우시는 줄을 산 자들이 알게 하려 함이라, 하였느니라. 17. This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.
18. 나 느부갓네살 왕이 이 꿈을 보았나니, 오 벨드사살아, 이제 너는 그것의 해석을 밝히 고하라. 내 왕국의 모든 지혜자들이 능히 해석을 내게 알려 주지 못하였으나 너는 할 수 있나니 거룩한 신들의 영이 네 속에 있느니라. 18. This dream I king Nebuchadnezzar have seen. Now thou, O Belteshazzar, declare the interpretation thereof, forasmuch as all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known unto me the interpretation: but thou art able; for the spirit of the holy gods is in thee.
19. ¶ 그때에 벨드사살이라는 이름을 가진 다니엘이 한 시간 동안 크게 놀라며 자기 생각들로 말미암아 근심하므로 왕이 말하여 이르되, 벨드사살아, 그 꿈이나 그것의 해석으로 말미암아 근심하지 말라, 하매 벨드사살이 응답하여 이르되, 내 주여, 그 꿈이 왕을 미워하는 자들을 향하고 그것의 해석이 왕의 원수들을 향하기를 원하나이다. 19. ¶ Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was astonied for one hour, and his thoughts troubled him. The king spake, and said, Belteshazzar, let not the dream, or the interpretation thereof, trouble thee. Belteshazzar answered and said, My lord, the dream be to them that hate thee, and the interpretation thereof to thine enemies.
20. 왕이 보신 나무는 자라서 강하게 되어 그것의 높이가 하늘에까지 닿았고 그것의 모습이 온 땅에 이르렀으며 20. The tree that thou sawest, which grew, and was strong, whose height reached unto the heaven, and the sight thereof to all the earth;
21. 그것의 잎사귀들은 아름답고 그것의 열매는 많아서 그 나무 안에 모든 사람의 먹을 것이 있고 들의 짐승들이 그 밑에 거하며 하늘의 날짐승들이 그것의 가지들에 처소를 두었나이다. 21. Whose leaves were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all; under which the beasts of the field dwelt, and upon whose branches the fowls of the heaven had their habitation:
22. 오 왕이여, 그것 즉 자라서 강하게 된 것은 왕이시니 왕의 위대하심은 자라나서 하늘에까지 닿으며 왕의 통치는 땅 끝까지 이르나이다. 22. It is thou, O king, that art grown and become strong: for thy greatness is grown, and reacheth unto heaven, and thy dominion to the end of the earth.
23. 왕이 보시니 한 순찰자 곧 한 거룩한 자가 하늘로부터 내려와 이르기를, 그 나무를 베어 내고 그것을 멸하라. 그러나 그것의 뿌리들의 그루터기는 땅에 남겨 두되 쇠와 놋 띠로 매며 들의 연한 풀 가운데 있게 하라. 또 그것을 하늘의 이슬에 젖게 하고 일곱 때가 그의 위로 지나갈 때까지 그의 몫이 들의 짐승들과 함께 있게 하라, 하였나이다. 23. And whereas the king saw a watcher and an holy one coming down from heaven, and saying, Hew the tree down, and destroy it; yet leave the stump of the roots thereof in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him;
24. 오 왕이여, 그 해석은 이러하니이다. 이것은 내 주 왕 위에 임한 [지극히 높으신 이]의 칙령이니이다. 24. This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the most High, which is come upon my lord the king:
25. 곧 그들이 왕을 사람들에게서 몰아내리니 왕의 거처가 들의 짐승들과 함께 있을 것이요, 그들이 왕으로 하여금 소처럼 풀을 먹게 하며 하늘의 이슬로 왕을 적시리이다. 일곱 때가 왕의 위로 지나간 뒤에야 비로소 왕이 [지극히 높으신 이]가 사람들의 왕국에서 다스리시며 자신의 뜻대로 그것을 누구에게든지 주시는 줄 아시리이다. 25. That they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.
26. 또 그들이 그 나무뿌리들의 그루터기를 남겨 두라고 명령하였은즉 하늘들이 다스림을 왕이 안 뒤에야 왕의 왕국이 왕에게 확실히 돌아가리이다. 26. And whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the tree roots; thy kingdom shall be sure unto thee, after that thou shalt have known that the heavens do rule.
27. 그런즉, 오 왕이여, 나의 권고를 받으시고 의로 왕의 죄들을 끊어 버리시며 가난한 자에게 긍휼을 베풂으로써 왕의 불법들을 끊어 버리소서. 그것이 혹시라도 왕의 평안함을 늘리리이다, 하니라. 27. Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by shewing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity.
28. ¶ 이 모든 일이 느부갓네살 왕에게 임하니라. 28. ¶ All this came upon the king Nebuchadnezzar.
29. 열두 달의 끝에 그가 바빌론 왕국의 궁궐에서 거닐더라. 29. At the end of twelve months he walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon.
30. 왕이 말하여 이르되, 이 큰 바빌론은 내가 내 권능의 힘으로 건설하여 왕국의 집으로 삼고 내 위엄의 존귀로 삼은 것이 아니냐? 하매 30. The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?
31. 아직 그 말이 왕의 입에 있을 때에 하늘로부터 한 음성이 내려와 이르시되, 오 느부갓네살 왕아, 네게 이것을 말하노니 그 왕국이 네게서 떠났느니라. 31. While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee.
32. 그들이 너를 사람들에게서 몰아내리니 네 거처가 들의 짐승들과 함께 있을 것이요, 그들이 너로 하여금 소처럼 풀을 먹게 하리라. 일곱 때가 네 위로 지나간 뒤에야 비로소 네가 [지극히 높으신 이]가 사람들의 왕국에서 다스리시며 자기 뜻대로 그것을 누구에게든지 주시는 줄을 알리라, 하매 32. And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.
33. 그 즉시로 그 일이 느부갓네살에게 이루어지니라. 그가 사람들에게서 쫓겨나 소처럼 풀을 먹으며 그의 몸이 하늘의 이슬에 젖고 마침내 그의 머리털이 독수리의 깃털같이 자랐으며 그의 손톱이 새들의 발톱같이 되었더라. 33. The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles' feathers, and his nails like birds' claws.
34. 그 날들의 끝에 나 느부갓네살이 내 눈을 들어 하늘을 보매 내 지각이 내게로 돌아오니라. 내가 [지극히 높으신 이]를 찬송하며 영원토록 사시는 그분을 찬양하고 공경하였나니 그분의 통치는 영존하는 통치요, 그분의 왕국은 대대에 이르는도다. 34. And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation:
35. 그분께서는 땅의 모든 거주민을 아무것도 아닌 것으로 여기시며 하늘의 군대 안에서든지 땅의 거주민들 가운데서든지 자신의 뜻대로 행하시나니 아무도 그분의 손을 멈추게 하거나 그분께 이르기를, 당신이 무엇을 하나이까? 하지 못하리라. 35. And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?
36. 바로 그때에 내 이성이 내게로 돌아왔고 또 내 왕국의 영광을 위하여 내 존귀와 광명이 내게로 돌아왔으며 내 조언자들과 내 귀족들도 나를 찾아왔고 내가 내 왕국에서 굳게 세워지며 뛰어난 위엄이 내게 더하여졌느니라. 36. At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me.
37. 이제 나 느부갓네살은 하늘의 [왕]을 찬양하며 칭송하며 공경하노라. 그분의 모든 일들은 진리이고 그분의 길들은 판단의 공의이니 교만 속에서 걷는 자들을 그분께서 능히 낮추시느니라. 37. Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.
1. 벨사살 왕이 자기의 귀족 천 명을 위하여 큰 잔치를 베풀고 그 천 명 앞에서 포도주를 마시니라. 1. Belshazzar the king made a great feast to a thousand of his lords, and drank wine before the thousand.
2. 벨사살이 포도주를 맛보며 명령하여 자기 아버지 느부갓네살이 예루살렘의 성전에서 탈취한 금 그릇들과 은그릇들을 가져오라고 하였으니 이것은 왕과 그의 통치자들과 아내들과 첩들이 그것들로 마시려 함이었더라. 2. Belshazzar, whiles he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, might drink therein.
3. 이에 그들이 예루살렘에 있던 하나님의 집의 성전에서 탈취한 금 그릇들을 가져오매 왕과 그의 통치자들과 아내들과 첩들이 그것들로 마시더라. 3. Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, drank in them.
4. 그들이 포도주를 마시고는 금과 은과 놋과 쇠와 나무와 돌로 된 신들을 찬양하니라. 4. They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.
5. ¶ 바로 그때에 사람의 손의 손가락들이 나와서 등잔대 맞은편에 왕궁의 회칠한 벽에 글을 쓰는데 왕이 글을 쓰는 손의 일부를 보니라. 5. ¶ In the same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king's palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.
6. 그때에 왕의 안색이 변하고 그가 자기 생각들로 말미암아 근심하므로 그의 허리뼈 마디들이 풀리고 그의 무릎이 서로 부딪치매 6. Then the king's countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another.
7. 왕이 크게 소리를 질러 별을 살피는 자들과 갈대아 사람들과 점쟁이들을 데려오게 하고는 바빌론의 지혜자들에게 말하여 이르되, 누구든지 이 글을 읽고 그것의 해석을 내게 보이는 자에게는 내가 주홍색 옷을 입히고 금목걸이를 그의 목에 걸어 주며 왕국의 셋째 치리자로 삼으리라, 하니라. 7. The king cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. And the king spake, and said to the wise men of Babylon, Whosoever shall read this writing, and shew me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.
8. 그때에 왕의 모든 지혜자들이 들어왔으나 그들이 능히 그 글을 읽지 못하며 왕에게 그것의 해석을 알려 주지도 못하더라. 8. Then came in all the king's wise men: but they could not read the writing, nor make known to the king the interpretation thereof.
9. 이에 벨사살 왕이 크게 근심하여 그에게서 안색이 변하였으므로 그의 귀족들도 놀라니라. 9. Then was king Belshazzar greatly troubled, and his countenance was changed in him, and his lords were astonied.
10. ¶ 이제 왕비가 왕과 왕의 귀족들의 말로 인해 잔치하는 집으로 들어와 말하여 이르되, 오 왕이여, 영원토록 사시옵소서. 왕의 생각들로 말미암아 근심하지 마시오며 왕의 안색을 바꾸지 마소서. 10. ¶ Now the queen, by reason of the words of the king and his lords, came into the banquet house: and the queen spake and said, O king, live for ever: let not thy thoughts trouble thee, nor let thy countenance be changed:
11. 왕의 왕국에 한 사람이 있는데 그 속에는 거룩한 신들의 영이 있나이다. 왕의 아버지 시대에 빛과 명철과 신들의 지혜 같은 지혜가 그에게서 발견되었나이다. 내가 말하노니 왕의 아버지 느부갓네살 왕 곧 왕의 아버지 되시는 그 왕께서 그를 마술사들과 별을 살피는 자들과 갈대아 사람들과 점쟁이들의 우두머리로 삼으셨나이다. 11. There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers;
12. 왕이 벨드사살이라는 이름을 준 바로 그 다니엘에게는 뛰어난 영과 지식과 명철과 꿈을 해석하는 것과 어려운 글귀를 밝히 보여 주는 것과 의문을 푸는 것이 있었나이다. 이제 다니엘을 부르소서. 그리하면 그가 그 해석을 알려 드리리이다, 하니라. 12. Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation.
13. 그때에 다니엘이 왕 앞에 이끌려나오매 왕이 다니엘에게 말하여 이르되, 네가 내 아버지 왕이 유대인 거주지에서 데려온 유다의 포로 된 자들의 자손에 속한 그 다니엘이냐? 13. Then was Daniel brought in before the king. And the king spake and said unto Daniel, Art thou that Daniel, which art of the children of the captivity of Judah, whom the king my father brought out of Jewry?
14. 내가 너에 대하여 들었는데 네 속에는 신들의 영이 있으며 빛과 명철과 뛰어난 지혜가 네게서 발견되었다 하는도다. 14. I have even heard of thee, that the spirit of the gods is in thee, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom is found in thee.
15. 지금 지혜자들과 별을 살피는 자들을 내 앞에 데려다가 그들이 이 글을 읽고 내게 그것의 해석을 알려 주게 하였으나 그들이 능히 그것에 대한 해석을 보이지 못하였느니라. 15. And now the wise men, the astrologers, have been brought in before me, that they should read this writing, and make known unto me the interpretation thereof: but they could not shew the interpretation of the thing:
16. 내가 너에 대하여 들었는데 너는 해석을 할 수 있으며 의문을 풀 수 있다 하는도다. 그런즉 이제 네가 그 글을 읽고 그것의 해석을 내게 알려 주면 내가 네게 주홍색 옷을 입히고 금목걸이를 네 목에 걸어 주며 왕국의 셋째 치리자로 삼으리라, 하니라. 16. And I have heard of thee, that thou canst make interpretations, and dissolve doubts: now if thou canst read the writing, and make known to me the interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt be the third ruler in the kingdom.
17. ¶ 그때에 다니엘이 왕 앞에서 응답하여 이르되, 왕의 선물은 왕이 가지시며 왕의 보상은 다른 사람에게 주옵소서. 그러나 내가 왕을 위하여 그 글을 읽고 그 해석을 왕에게 알려 드리리이다. 17. ¶ Then Daniel answered and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; yet I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation.
18. 오 왕이여, 지극히 높으신 하나님께서 왕의 아버지 느부갓네살에게 왕국과 위엄과 영광과 존귀를 주셨나이다. 18. O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honour:
19. 그분께서 그에게 주신 위엄으로 인하여 모든 백성들과 민족들과 언어들이 그 앞에서 떨고 두려워하였나이다. 그가 자기가 원하는 자를 죽이고 자기가 원하는 자를 살리며 자기가 원하는 자를 세우고 자기가 원하는 자를 낮추었으나 19. And for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put down.
20. 그의 마음이 높아지며 그의 생각이 교만 속에서 강퍅하게 되므로 그가 자기 왕좌에서 쫓겨나고 그들이 그에게서 그의 영광을 빼앗으매 20. But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:
21. 그가 사람들의 아들들에게서 쫓겨나 그의 마음이 짐승들의 마음과 같이 되고 또 그의 거처가 들나귀들과 함께하며 또 그들이 소처럼 그에게 풀을 먹이매 그의 몸이 하늘의 이슬에 젖었고 마침내 그가 지극히 높으신 하나님께서 사람들의 왕국에서 다스리시며 자신의 뜻대로 누구든지 세우사 그것을 다스리게 하시는 줄을 알게 되었나이다. 21. And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will.
22. 오 벨사살이여, 왕은 그의 아들로서 이 모든 것을 알면서도 마음을 낮추지 아니하고 22. And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this;
23. 도리어 자기를 높여 하늘의 [주]를 대적하며 그들이 그분의 집의 그릇들을 왕 앞으로 가져오매 왕과 왕의 귀족들과 아내들과 첩들이 그것들로 포도주를 마시고 은과 금과 놋과 쇠와 나무와 돌로 된 신들 곧 보지도 못하고 듣지도 못하고 알지도 못하는 신들을 찬양하며 또 하나님 즉 손에 왕의 숨을 쥐고 계시며 자신의 길을 왕의 모든 길로 삼으시는 분께는 영광을 돌리지 아니하였나이다. 23. But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified:
24. 그러므로 그분께서 손의 일부를 보내사 이 글을 기록하게 하셨나이다. 24. Then was the part of the hand sent from him; and this writing was written.
25. ¶ 기록된 글은 이것이니 곧 {메네 메네 데겔 우바르신}이니이다. 25. ¶ And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.
26. 그것의 해석은 이러하니 {메네}는 하나님께서 왕의 왕국을 세셔서 그것을 끝내셨다는 것이요, 26. This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.
27. {데겔}은 왕을 저울에 다니 부족함이 있다는 것이며 27. TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.
28. {베레스}는 왕의 왕국이 나뉘어서 메대 사람들과 페르시아 사람들에게 주어졌다는 것이니이다, 하니 28. PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.
29. 이에 벨사살이 명령하매 그들이 다니엘에게 주홍색 옷을 입히고 금 목걸이를 그의 목에 걸어 주며 그에 관해 포고를 내려 그가 왕국의 셋째 치리자임을 알리니라. 29. Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.
30. ¶ 그 날 밤에 갈대아 사람들의 왕 벨사살이 죽임을 당하고 30. ¶ In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.
31. 메대 사람 다리오가 그 왕국을 취하였는데 그때에 그는 육십이 세가량이었더라. 31. And Darius the Median took the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.
1. 다리오가 온 왕국을 다스릴 통치자 백이십 명을 세워 왕국을 다스리는 것을 기뻐하더라. 1. It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom;
2. 또 그가 이들 위에 총리 셋을 두었는데 다니엘은 그중의 첫째였으니 이것은 통치자들이 그들에게 보고하게 하여 왕에게 손해가 없게 하려 함이더라. 2. And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts unto them, and the king should have no damage.
3. 그때에 이 다니엘이 총리들과 통치자들보다 앞섰으니 이는 뛰어난 영이 그 속에 있었기 때문이더라. 왕이 그를 세워 온 영토를 다스리게 하려고 생각하니라. 3. Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.
4. ¶ 그때에 총리들과 통치자들이 왕국에 관하여 다니엘을 고소할 기회를 찾고자 하되 어떤 기회나 허물도 찾지 못하였더라. 그는 신실하였으므로 그에게서 어떤 실수나 허물도 찾아볼 수 없었더라. 4. ¶ Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.
5. 그때에 이 사람들이 이르되, 우리가 이 다니엘의 하나님의 율법에 관하여 그를 고소할 기회를 찾지 못하면 그를 고소할 기회를 찾지 못하리라, 하고 5. Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.
6. 이에 이 총리들과 통치자들이 함께 모여 왕에게 가서 그에게 이같이 아뢰되, 다리오 왕이여, 영원토록 사시옵소서. 6. Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live for ever.
7. 왕국의 모든 총리들과 총독들과 통치자들과 조언자들과 대장들이 함께 의논하여 왕의 법규를 굳게 세우고 확고한 칙령을 정하였나이다. 오 왕이여, 그것은 곧 누구든지 삼십일 동안 왕 외의 어떤 [신]에게나 사람에게 청원하는 자는 사자 굴에 던져 넣으리라는 것이니이다. 7. All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.
8. 오 왕이여, 이제 칙령을 굳게 세우시고 그 조서에 도장을 찍어 메대 사람들과 페르시아 사람들의 법 곧 바뀌지 않는 법에 따라 그것을 바꾸지 못하게 하옵소서, 하니 8. Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.
9. 그런 까닭에 다리오 왕이 그 조서와 칙령에 도장을 찍으니라. 9. Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the decree.
10. ¶ 그런데 다니엘은 그 조서에 도장이 찍힌 것을 알고도 자기 집에 들어가 자기 방에서 예루살렘을 향하여 창문을 열고 전에 하던 대로 하루에 세 번씩 무릎을 꿇고 기도하며 자기 하나님 앞에서 감사를 드리더라. 10. ¶ Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.
11. 그때에 이 사람들이 모여서 다니엘이 자기 하나님 앞에서 기도하며 간구하는 것을 발견하고 11. Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.
12. 이에 가까이 가서 왕의 칙령에 관하여 왕 앞에서 아뢰되, 오 왕이여, 왕께서 삼십 일 안에 왕 외의 어떤 [신]에게나 사람에게 청원을 하는 모든 자는 사자 굴에 던져 넣으리라는 칙령에 도장을 찍지 아니하셨나이까? 하니 왕이 대답하여 이르되, 메대 사람들과 페르시아 사람들의 법 곧 바뀌지 않는 법에 따라 그 일이 사실이니라, 하매 12. Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king's decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.
13. 그때에 그들이 왕 앞에서 응답하여 아뢰되, 오 왕이여, 유다의 포로 된 자들의 자손에 속한 저 다니엘이 왕과 왕이 도장을 찍은 그 칙령을 중히 여기지 아니하고 하루에 세 번씩 청원하나이다, 하니 13. Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.
14. 이에 왕이 이 말을 듣고 자신을 심히 못마땅하게 여기며 다니엘을 건져 내려고 그에게 마음을 쓰며 해가 질 때까지 그를 건져 내려고 애를 쓰니라. 14. Then the king, when he heard these words, was sore displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him: and he laboured till the going down of the sun to deliver him.
15. 그때에 이 사람들이 모여 왕에게로 나아와 왕에게 아뢰되, 오 왕이여, 메대 사람들과 페르시아 사람들의 법을 아시옵소서. 곧 왕이 굳게 세우는 어떤 칙령이나 법규도 바꿀 수 없나이다, 하니 15. Then these men assembled unto the king, and said unto the king, Know, O king, that the law of the Medes and Persians is, That no decree nor statute which the king establisheth may be changed.
16. 이에 왕이 명령하매 그들이 다니엘을 끌어다가 사자 굴에 던져 넣으니라. 이제 왕이 다니엘에게 말하여 이르되, 네가 계속해서 섬기는 네 하나님이 너를 건지시리라, 하니라. 16. Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.
17. 사람들이 돌 하나를 가져다가 그 굴의 어귀에 두고 왕이 자기의 도장과 자기 귀족들의 도장으로 그 굴에 봉인을 쳤으니 이것은 다니엘에 관하여 결심한 바를 아무도 바꾸지 못하게 하려 함이었더라. 17. And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel.
18. ¶ 그 뒤에 왕이 자기 궁궐에 가서 금식하며 밤을 지내고 자기 앞에 악기도 들여오지 못하게 하며 잠을 이루지 못하였더라. 18. ¶ Then the king went to his palace, and passed the night fasting: neither were instruments of musick brought before him: and his sleep went from him.
19. 그때에 왕이 아침에 매우 일찍 일어나 급히 사자 굴로 가니라. 19. Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste unto the den of lions.
20. 왕이 굴에 이르러서는 슬픈 목소리로 다니엘에게 소리를 지르며 다니엘에게 말하여 이르되, 오 살아 계시는 하나님의 종 다니엘아, 네가 계속해서 섬기는 네 하나님이 사자들에게서 능히 너를 건져 내셨느냐? 하매 20. And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?
21. 그때에 다니엘이 왕에게 이르되, 오 왕이여, 영원토록 사시옵소서. 21. Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever.
22. 내 하나님께서 자신의 천사를 보내사 사자들의 입을 막으셨으므로 사자들이 나를 해치지 못하였사오니 이는 그분 앞에서 무죄함이 내 안에서 드러났기 때문이니이다. 또 오 왕이여, 왕 앞에서도 내가 아무 해를 끼치지 아니하였나이다, 하니라. 22. My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.
23. 이에 왕이 그로 인해 심히 즐거워하며 명령하여 그들이 다니엘을 굴에서 끌어올리게 하매 이에 그들이 다니엘을 굴에서 끌어올린즉 그에게 아무 상처도 보이지 아니하였으니 이는 그가 자기 하나님을 믿었기 때문이더라. 23. Then was the king exceeding glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God.
24. ¶ 왕이 명령하매 그들이 다니엘을 고소한 그 사람들을 데려오고 그들과 그들의 자녀들과 아내들을 사자 굴에 던져 넣으니 그들이 굴 바닥에 이르기도 전에 사자들이 그들을 잡아채어 그들의 모든 뼈를 산산조각 내었더라. 24. ¶ And the king commanded, and they brought those men which had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions had the mastery of them, and brake all their bones in pieces or ever they came at the bottom of the den.
25. ¶ 그때에 다리오 왕이 온 땅에 거하는 모든 백성들과 민족들과 언어들에게 조서를 써서 이르되, 너희에게 평강이 많이 있기를 원하노라. 25. ¶ Then king Darius wrote unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.
26. 내가 한 칙령을 내리노니 내 왕국의 모든 통치 하에 있는 사람들은 다니엘의 하나님 앞에서 떨며 두려워할지니라. 그분은 살아 계시는 하나님이시요, 영원토록 변하지 아니하실 분이시며 그분의 왕국은 멸망하지 아니하고 그분의 통치는 끝에까지 이르리로다. 26. I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end.
27. 그분은 건져 내기도 하시고 구출하기도 하시며 하늘에서와 땅에서 표적들과 이적들을 행하시나니 그분께서 다니엘을 사자들의 권세에서 건져 내셨도다, 하였더라. 27. He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.
28. 이와 같이 이 다니엘이 다리오의 통치와 페르시아 사람 고레스의 통치 때에 형통하였더라. 28. So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.
1. 바빌론 왕 벨사살의 제일년에 다니엘이 자기 침상에서 꿈을 꾸며 머리 속의 환상들을 받고 그때에 그가 그 꿈을 기록하며 그 일들의 요점을 말하니라. 1. In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters.
2. 다니엘이 말하여 이르되, 내가 밤의 환상 속에서 보는데, 보라, 하늘의 네 바람이 대해 위에서 다투더라. 2. Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea.
3. 또 서로 다른 큰 짐승 넷이 그 바다에서 올라왔더라. 3. And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.
4. 첫째 짐승은 사자와 같으며 독수리의 날개들을 가졌는데 내가 그것의 날개들이 뽑힐 때까지 바라보니라. 또 그 짐승이 땅에서 들려 사람과 같이 두 발로 서게 되었으며 또 사람의 마음이 그 짐승에게 주어졌더라. 4. The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it.
5. 또, 보라, 다른 짐승 곧 둘째 짐승은 곰과 같은데 그 짐승이 한 쪽에서 몸을 일으켜 세웠으며 자기의 입에, 자기의 이빨 사이에 갈빗대 셋을 물었더라. 그들이 그 짐승에게 이같이 이르기를, 일어나서 많은 고기를 먹어 치우라, 하더라. 5. And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.
6. 이 일 뒤에 내가 보니, 보라, 다른 짐승 곧 표범과 같은 것이 있는데 그것의 등에는 날짐승의 날개 넷이 있었고 또 그 짐승에게 머리 넷이 있었으며 통치 권세가 그 짐승에게 주어졌더라. 6. After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.
7. 이 일 뒤에 내가 밤의 환상들 속에서 보는데, 보라, 넷째 짐승은 두렵고 무서우며 심히 강하고 또 큰 쇠 이빨을 가지고 있어서 삼키며 산산조각 내고 그 나머지를 자기 발로 짓밟았더라. 그 짐승은 그것 전에 있던 모든 짐승과 다르고 또 열 뿔을 가졌더라. 7. After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.
8. 내가 그 뿔들을 깊이 살펴보는데, 보라, 다른 작은 뿔이 그것들 가운데서 나오더니 처음의 뿔들 중의 셋이 그것 앞에서 뿌리째 뽑히더라. 또, 보라, 이 뿔에는 사람의 눈 같은 눈들이 있고 또 큰일들을 말하는 한 입이 있더라. 8. I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.
9. ¶ 그 왕좌들이 무너져 내릴 때까지 내가 보매 [옛적부터 계신 이]가 앉아 계시는데 그분의 옷은 눈같이 희고 그분의 머리털은 순결한 양털 같으며 그분의 왕좌는 맹렬한 불꽃 같고 그분의 바퀴들은 타오르는 불 같더라. 9. ¶ I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.
10. 불 같은 시내가 그분 앞에서 흘러나오고 천천이 그분을 섬기며 만만이 그분 앞에 서 있더라. 심판이 준비되고 책들이 펴져 있더라. 10. A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.
11. 그때에 내가 그 뿔이 낸 엄청난 말들의 소리로 인하여 보았으니 곧 그 짐승이 죽임을 당하고 그의 몸이 파멸을 당하여 타오르는 불꽃에 넘겨질 때까지 내가 바라보니라. 11. I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.
12. 그 나머지 짐승들로 말하건대 그들이 자기들의 통치 권세를 빼앗겼으나 그들의 생명은 한 시기와 때 동안 연장되었더라. 12. As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.
13. 내가 밤의 환상들 속에서 보는데, 보라, 사람의 [아들] 같은 이가 하늘의 구름들과 함께 와서 [옛적부터 계신 이]에게 가니 그들이 그를 그분 앞에 가까이 데려가니라. 13. I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
14. 그분께서 그에게 통치와 영광과 왕국을 주시니 이것은 모든 백성들과 민족들과 언어들이 그를 섬기게 하려 함이라. 그의 통치는 영존하는 통치요, 없어지지 아니할 통치며 그의 왕국은 멸망하지 아니할 왕국이라. 14. And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
15. ¶ 나 다니엘이 내 몸 한가운데서 내 영 안에서 괴로워하였으며 내 머리 속의 환상들이 나를 근심하게 하므로 15. ¶ I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head troubled me.
16. 내가 곁에 서 있던 자들 중의 하나에게로 가까이 가서 이 모든 일의 진실을 그에게 물으매 이에 그가 내게 고하고 그 일들에 대한 해석을 알려 주며 이르되, 16. I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things.
17. 이 네 큰 짐승은 땅에서 일어날 네 왕이니라. 17. These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth.
18. 그러나 [지극히 높으신 이]의 성도들이 그 왕국을 취하고 영원히 곧 영원무궁토록 그 왕국을 소유하리라, 하니라. 18. But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.
19. 그때에 내가 넷째 짐승의 진실을 알고자 하였는데 그 짐승은 다른 모든 짐승과 달라서 심히 두렵고 그것의 이빨은 쇠요, 그것의 발톱은 놋이며 그가 삼키고 산산조각 내며 그 나머지를 자기 발로 짓밟았더라. 19. Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet;
20. 또 내가 그의 머리에 있던 열 뿔과 또 솟아 난 다른 뿔에 대한 진실을 알고자 하였는데 그것 앞에서 세 개가 넘어졌더라. 그 뿔에는 눈들도 있고 심히 큰일들을 말하는 입도 있더라. 그것의 모습이 그의 동료들보다 더 견고하더라. 20. And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows.
21. 내가 보니 바로 그 뿔이 성도들과 싸워 그들을 이겼으나 21. I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;
22. 마침내 [옛적부터 계신 이]가 오셔서 [지극히 높으신 이]의 성도들에게 심판을 주셨으므로 때가 이르매 성도들이 그 왕국을 소유하였더라. 22. Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.
23. 그가 이같이 이르되, 넷째 짐승은 땅 위에서 넷째 왕국이 될 터인데 이 왕국은 모든 왕국과 달라서 온 땅을 삼키고 짓밟아 산산조각 낼 것이요, 23. Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.
24. 또 이 왕국에서 나온 열 뿔은 앞으로 일어날 열 왕이요, 그들 뒤에 다른 왕이 일어날 터인데 그는 먼저 있던 자들과 다르고 또 세 왕을 정복하리라. 24. And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.
25. 또 그가 [지극히 높으신 이]를 대적하려고 엄청난 말들을 하며 [지극히 높으신 이]의 성도들을 지치게 하고 또 때와 법을 바꾸려고 생각할 것이며 그들은 한 때와 두 때와 반 때까지 그의 손에 주어지리라. 25. And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
26. 그러나 심판이 진행된즉 그들이 그의 통치 권세를 빼앗아 그것을 끝까지 소멸시키고 파멸시킬 것이요, 26. But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end.
27. 왕국과 통치와 온 하늘 아래 왕국의 위대함이 [지극히 높으신 이]의 성도들의 백성에게 주어지리라. 그분의 왕국은 영존하는 왕국이며 모든 통치 권세가 그분을 섬기며 순종하리라. 27. And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.
28. 여기까지가 그 일의 끝이니라. 나 다니엘로 말하건대 내가 깊은 생각으로 말미암아 심히 근심하였으며 내게서 안색이 변하였으나 내가 그 일을 내 마음속에 간직하였느니라. 28. Hitherto is the end of the matter. As for me Daniel, my cogitations much troubled me, and my countenance changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart.
1. 처음에 나 다니엘에게 나타난 환상 이후에 벨사살 왕의 통치 제삼년에 한 환상이 내게 곧 내게 나타나매 1. In the third year of the reign of king Belshazzar a vision appeared unto me, even unto me Daniel, after that which appeared unto me at the first.
2. 내가 환상 속에서 보았노라. 그것을 볼 때에 내가 엘람 지방의 수산 궁에 있었는데 내가 환상 속에서 보며 울래 강가에 있었노라. 2. And I saw in a vision; and it came to pass, when I saw, that I was at Shushan in the palace, which is in the province of Elam; and I saw in a vision, and I was by the river of Ulai.
3. 그때에 내가 눈을 들어 보니, 보라, 강 앞에 두 뿔 가진 숫양 한 마리가 서 있는데 그 두 뿔이 길더라. 그러나 한 뿔이 다른 뿔보다 길었고 그 긴 것은 나중에 났더라. 3. Then I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there stood before the river a ram which had two horns: and the two horns were high; but one was higher than the other, and the higher came up last.
4. 내가 보니 그 숫양이 서쪽과 북쪽과 남쪽을 향하여 밀어붙이므로 어떤 짐승도 그 앞에 서지 못하였고 그의 손에서 능히 건져 낼 자가 없었으므로 그가 자기 뜻대로 행하며 크게 되었더라. 4. I saw the ram pushing westward, and northward, and southward; so that no beasts might stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and became great.
5. 내가 깊이 생각할 때에, 보라, 숫염소 한 마리가 서쪽에서 나와 온 지면에 다니며 몸을 땅에 대지 아니하더라. 그 염소의 두 눈 사이에는 두드러진 뿔이 있더라. 5. And as I was considering, behold, an he goat came from the west on the face of the whole earth, and touched not the ground: and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes.
6. 그가 두 뿔 달린 숫양 곧 내가 강 앞에 서 있는 것을 본 그 양에게로 가되 힘차게 격노하며 그에게로 달려가더라. 6. And he came to the ram that had two horns, which I had seen standing before the river, and ran unto him in the fury of his power.
7. 내가 보니 그가 그 숫양에게 가까이 가서 그에게 성을 내며 흥분하고 그 숫양을 쳐서 그의 두 뿔을 꺾었으나 그 숫양에게는 그 앞에 설 힘이 없었으므로 그가 그 숫양을 땅바닥에 내던지고 짓밟았더라. 그 숫양을 그의 손에서 능히 건져 낼 자가 없었더라. 7. And I saw him come close unto the ram, and he was moved with choler against him, and smote the ram, and brake his two horns: and there was no power in the ram to stand before him, but he cast him down to the ground, and stamped upon him: and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his hand.
8. 그러므로 그 숫염소가 심히 크게 되더니 그가 강성할 때에 그 큰 뿔이 꺾이고 그것 대신 두드러진 뿔 넷이 하늘의 네 바람을 향하여 나서 올라오더라. 8. Therefore the he goat waxed very great: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and for it came up four notable ones toward the four winds of heaven.
9. 그 뿔들 중의 하나에서 또 작은 뿔 하나가 나서 남쪽과 동쪽과 또 그 기쁨의 땅을 향하여 심히 커지더니 9. And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.
10. 그것이 하늘의 군대에 이르기까지 커져서 그 군대와 별들 중의 얼마를 땅에 내던지며 그것들을 짓밟더라. 10. And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them.
11. 참으로 그가 그 군대의 통치자에게 이르기까지 자신을 높였으며 그로 말미암아 날마다 드리는 희생물이 제거되고 그분의 성소가 있는 곳이 허물어졌더라. 11. Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.
12. 또 범법으로 인하여 한 군대가 그에게 주어져서 날마다 드리는 희생물을 반대하게 하매 그것이 진리를 땅에 내던지고 꾸준히 행하며 형통하였더라. 12. And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered.
13. ¶ 그때에 한 성도가 말하는 것을 내가 들었는데 다른 성도가 말하던 바로 그 성도에게 이르되, 날마다 드리는 희생물에 관한 그 환상과 황폐하게 하는 그 범법이 어느 때까지 지속되어 성소와 군대를 내주고 발밑에 짓밟히게 하겠느냐? 하더라. 13. ¶ Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?
14. 그가 내게 이르되, 이천삼백 일까지니 그때에 성소가 정결하게 되리라, 하니라. 14. And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.
15. ¶ 나 곧 나 다니엘이 그 환상을 보고 그 뜻을 알고자 할 때에, 보라, 내 앞에 사람의 모양 같은 것이 섰더라. 15. ¶ And it came to pass, when I, even I Daniel, had seen the vision, and sought for the meaning, then, behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man.
16. 또 내가 울래 강의 둑 사이에서 사람의 목소리를 들었는데 그것이 외쳐 이르되, 가브리엘아, 이 사람이 그 환상을 깨닫게 하라, 하더라. 16. And I heard a man's voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision.
17. 이에 그가 내가 서 있는 곳으로 가까이 나아오더라. 그가 나올 때에 내가 두려워서 얼굴을 대고 엎드렸으나 그가 내게 이르되, 오 사람의 아들아, 깨달으라. 그 환상은 끝이 임하는 때에 있을 일이니라. 17. So he came near where I stood: and when he came, I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the vision.
18. 이제 그가 나와 말할 때에 내가 얼굴을 땅으로 향하고 엎드려서 깊이 잠들었으나 그가 내게 손을 대어 나를 똑바로 일으켜 세우고 18. Now as he was speaking with me, I was in a deep sleep on my face toward the ground: but he touched me, and set me upright.
19. 이르되, 보라, 내가 그 격노의 마지막 끝에 있을 일을 네게 알려 주리니 이는 정해진 때에 그 끝이 임할 것이기 때문이라. 19. And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be.
20. 네가 본 두 뿔 달린 숫양은 메대와 페르시아의 왕들이요, 20. The ram which thou sawest having two horns are the kings of Media and Persia.
21. 거친 숫염소는 그리스의 왕이며 그의 두 눈 사이의 큰 뿔은 첫째 왕이니라. 21. And the rough goat is the king of Grecia: and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king.
22. 이제 그것이 꺾이고 그것 대신에 네 개가 일어났은즉 네 왕국이 그 민족으로부터 일어나되 그의 권세만은 못하리라. 22. Now that being broken, whereas four stood up for it, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not in his power.
23. 그들의 왕국의 마지막 때 곧 범법자들이 가득할 즈음에 사나운 얼굴을 하고 숨겨진 글의 뜻을 깨닫는 한 왕이 일어나리라. 23. And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.
24. 그의 권세가 강할 터이나 자기의 권세로 말미암은 것은 아니니라. 그가 놀랍게 파괴하고 형통하며 꾸준히 행하고 강한 자들과 거룩한 백성을 멸하리라. 24. And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.
25. 그가 또 자기의 정책을 통하여 자기 손에서 속임수가 형통하게 하고 자기 마음속에서 자신을 높이며 평화를 빌미로 많은 사람을 멸할 것이요, 또 그가 일어서서 통치자들의 통치자를 대적할 터이나 그가 손으로 말미암지 아니하고 무너지리라. 25. And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.
26. 이미 말한 저녁과 아침의 환상이 참된즉 너는 그 환상을 닫아 두라. 그것은 많은 날 뒤에 있을 일에 대한 것이니라, 하더라. 26. And the vision of the evening and the morning which was told is true: wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it shall be for many days.
27. 나 다니엘이 기진하여 며칠을 앓다가 그 뒤에 일어나서 왕의 일을 행하였느니라. 내가 그 환상으로 말미암아 놀랐으나 아무도 그것을 깨닫지 못하더라. 27. And I Daniel fainted, and was sick certain days; afterward I rose up, and did the king's business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood it.
1. 메대 사람들의 씨에 속한 아하수에로의 아들 다리오가 갈대아 사람들의 영토를 다스릴 왕으로 세워진 첫 해 1. In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, which was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans;
2. 곧 그의 통치 제일년에 나 다니엘이 책들을 통하여 {주}의 말씀이 대언자 예레미야에게 임하사 알려 주신 그 햇수를 깨닫되 곧 그분께서 예루살렘이 황폐한 가운데 칠십 년을 채우시리라는 것을 깨달으니라. 2. In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.
3. ¶ 또 내가 금식하며 굵은 베옷을 입고 재를 덮어쓴 채 [주] 하나님을 향하여 내 얼굴을 고정하고 기도와 간구로 구하니라. 3. ¶ And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:
4. 내가 {주} 내 하나님께 기도하고 자백하며 이르기를, 오 [주]여, 하나님을 사랑하고 하나님의 명령들을 지키는 자들에게 언약을 지키시며 긍휼을 베푸시는 크고 두려우신 하나님이여, 4. And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;
5. 우리가 주의 훈계와 주의 판단의 법도를 버리고 떠남으로 죄를 짓고 불법을 행하며 사악하게 행하고 반역하였나이다. 5. We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments:
6. 또 우리가 주의 종 대언자들이 주의 이름으로 우리의 왕들과 우리의 통치자들과 우리의 조상들과 그 땅의 온 백성에게 말한 것에 귀를 기울이지 아니하였나이다. 6. Neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.
7. 오 [주]여, 의는 주께 속하고 이 날과 같이 당황한 얼굴은 우리에게 속하되 곧 유다 사람들과 예루살렘 거주민들과 가까운 데나 먼 데 있는 모든 나라의 온 이스라엘에게 속하나이다. 그들이 주를 대적하며 범법한 그들의 범법으로 인해 주께서 그들을 두루 그 나라들로 쫓아내셨나이다. 7. O Lord, righteousness belongeth unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against thee.
8. 오 [주]여, 우리가 주께 죄를 지었사온즉 당황한 얼굴은 우리와 우리의 왕들과 우리의 통치자들과 우리의 조상들에게 속하며 8. O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee.
9. 비록 우리가 [주] 우리 하나님께 반역하였을지라도 긍휼과 용서는 그분께 속하나이다. 9. To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him;
10. 우리가 또한 {주} 우리 하나님의 음성에 순종하지 아니하여 그분께서 자신의 종 대언자들을 통해 우리 앞에 세우신 그분의 법들 안에서 걷지 아니하였나이다. 10. Neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.
11. 참으로 온 이스라엘이 주의 율법을 범하고 심지어 그것을 떠나서 주의 음성에 순종하지 아니하였으므로 하나님의 종 모세의 율법에 기록된 맹세와 저주가 우리 위에 쏟아졌사오니 이는 우리가 그분께 죄를 지었기 때문이니이다. 11. Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey thy voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against him.
12. 그분께서 큰 재앙을 우리 위에 내리사 우리와 우리를 재판하던 우리의 재판관들을 치시면서 하신 자신의 말씀들을 확증하셨사오니 온 하늘 아래에서 예루살렘에서 일어난 일 같은 것은 일어난 적이 없었나이다. 12. And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem.
13. 모세의 율법에 기록된 대로 이 모든 재앙이 우리에게 임하였음에도 불구하고 우리는 우리의 불법들에서 돌이키고 주의 진리를 깨닫기 위해 {주} 우리 하나님 앞에서 기도하지 아니하였나이다. 13. As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: yet made we not our prayer before the LORD our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand thy truth.
14. 그러므로 {주}께서 그 재앙을 지켜보시다가 그것을 가져와 우리에게 임하게 하셨사오니 {주} 우리 하나님께서는 친히 행하시는 모든 일에서 의로우시나이다. 우리가 그분의 음성에 순종하지 아니하였나이다. 14. Therefore hath the LORD watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us: for the LORD our God is righteous in all his works which he doeth: for we obeyed not his voice.
15. 오 강한 손으로 주의 백성을 이집트 땅에서 데리고 나오시고 이 날과 같이 스스로 명성을 얻으신 [주] 우리 하나님이여, 이제 우리는 죄를 지었고 사악하게 행하였나이다. 15. And now, O Lord our God, that hast brought thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast gotten thee renown, as at this day; we have sinned, we have done wickedly.
16. ¶ 오 [주]여, 간청하옵나니 주의 모든 의에 따라 주의 분노와 주의 격노를 돌이키사 주의 도시 예루살렘 곧 주의 거룩한 산에서 떠나게 하옵소서. 우리의 죄들과 우리 조상들의 불법들로 인하여 예루살렘과 주의 백성이 우리의 사방에 있는 모든 자들에게 치욕거리가 되었나이다. 16. ¶ O Lord, according to all thy righteousness, I beseech thee, let thine anger and thy fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain: because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach to all that are about us.
17. 오 우리 하나님이여, 그러하온즉 이제 주의 종의 기도와 그의 간구를 들으시고 [주]를 위하여 주의 얼굴이 황폐한 주의 성소에 빛을 비추게 하옵소서. 17. Now therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of thy servant, and his supplications, and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord's sake.
18. 오 나의 하나님이여, 주의 귀를 기울여 들으시며 주의 눈을 여사 우리의 황폐함과 주의 이름으로 불리는 도시를 보시옵소서. 우리가 우리의 의로 인하여 주 앞에서 우리의 간구를 드리지 아니하고 주의 크신 긍휼로 인하여 간구를 드리나이다. 18. O my God, incline thine ear, and hear; open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy great mercies.
19. 오 [주]여, 들으소서. 오 [주]여, 용서하소서. 오 [주]여, 귀를 기울이시고 행하소서. 오 내 하나님이여, 주를 위하여 지체하지 마옵소서. 주의 도시와 주의 백성은 주의 이름으로 불리나이다. 19. O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thine own sake, O my God: for thy city and thy people are called by thy name.
20. ¶ 내가 이같이 말하여 기도하며 내 죄와 내 백성 이스라엘의 죄를 자백하고 내 하나님의 거룩한 산을 위하여 {주} 내 하나님 앞에서 간구를 드릴 때에 20. ¶ And whiles I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God;
21. 곧 참으로 내가 기도를 드리며 말할 때에 내가 처음에 환상 속에서 본 그 사람 가브리엘이 신속히 날아가도록 명령을 받고 저녁 봉헌물을 드릴 즈음에 내게 손을 대더라. 21. Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation.
22. 그가 내게 알리며 내게 말하여 이르되, 오 다니엘아, 내가 이제 네게 능숙함과 깨달음을 주려고 나아왔느니라, 하니라. 22. And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding.
23. 네 간구가 시작될 때에 명령이 나왔으므로 내가 네게 알리려고 왔노라. 너는 크게 사랑받는 자니 그런즉 그 일을 깨닫고 그 환상을 깊이 생각할지니라. 23. At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision.
24. 주께서 네 백성과 네 거룩한 도시에게 칠십 이레를 정하셨나니 이것은 범법을 그치고 죄들을 끝내며 불법에 대하여 화해를 이루고 영존하는 의를 가져오며 환상과 대언을 봉인하고 또 [지극히 거룩하신 이]에게 기름을 붓고자 함이라. 24. Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
25. 그러므로 알고 깨달을지니라. 즉 예루살렘을 회복하고 건축하라는 명령이 나아가는 때로부터 통치자 메시아에 이르기까지 일곱 이레와 육십이 이레가 있으리니 심지어 곤란한 때에 거리와 성벽이 다시 건축될 것이며 25. Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
26. 육십이 이레 뒤에 메시아가 끊어질 터이나 자기를 위한 것은 아니니라. 장차 임할 통치자의 백성이 그 도시와 그 성소를 파괴하려니와 그것의 끝에는 홍수가 있을 것이며 또 그 전쟁이 끝날 때까지 황폐하게 하는 것이 작정되었느니라. 26. And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
27. 그가 많은 사람과 한 이레 동안 언약을 확정하리니 그가 그 이레의 한중간에 희생물과 봉헌물을 그치게 하며 또 가증한 것들로 뒤덮기 위하여 심지어 완전히 끝날 때까지 그것을 황폐하게 할 것이요, 작정된 그것이 그 황폐한 곳에 쏟아지리라, 하니라. 27. And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
1. 페르시아 왕 고레스의 제삼년에 한 일이 벨드사살이라는 이름을 가진 다니엘에게 계시되었는데 그 일이 참되나 정해진 때는 길더라. 그가 그 일을 깨닫고 그 환상에 대해서도 깨달음을 얻으니라. 1. In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision.
2. 그때에 나 다니엘이 꼬박 세 이레 동안 애곡하며 2. In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks.
3. 세 이레를 채울 때까지 좋은 빵을 먹지 아니하고 고기와 포도즙을 입에 대지 아니하며 몸에 전혀 기름을 바르지 아니하니라. 3. I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.
4. 첫째 달 이십사일에 내가 큰 강 곧 힛데겔 곁에 있었는데 4. And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel;
5. 그때에 내가 눈을 들어 바라보니, 보라, 어떤 사람이 아마포 옷을 입었고 그의 허리에는 우바스의 정금으로 띠가 둘렸더라. 5. Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz:
6. 또 그의 몸은 녹주석 같고 그의 얼굴은 번개 모양 같으며 그의 눈은 등불 같고 그의 팔과 발의 색깔은 연마한 놋 같고 그의 말소리는 한 무리의 소리 같더라. 6. His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.
7. 나 다니엘이 홀로 그 환상을 보았나니 나와 함께한 사람들은 그 환상을 보지 못하였고 큰 지진이 그들에게 임하므로 그들이 피하여 숨었더라. 7. And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves.
8. 그러므로 내가 홀로 남아서 이 큰 환상을 볼 때에 내 안에 기력이 남지 아니하였으니 내 아름다움이 내 속에서 변하여 썩은 것이 되었고 아무 기력도 내게 남지 아니하였느니라. 8. Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.
9. 그럼에도 내가 그의 말소리를 들었는데 그의 말소리를 들을 때에 내가 얼굴을 땅으로 향하고 얼굴을 댄 채 깊이 잠들었느니라. 9. Yet heard I the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground.
10. ¶ 보라, 한 손이 나를 어루만지며 내 무릎과 손바닥을 의지하게 하여 나를 세우니라. 10. ¶ And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands.
11. 그가 내게 이르되, 오 크게 사랑받는 사람 다니엘아, 내가 네게 이르는 말들을 깨닫고 똑바로 일어서라. 내가 지금 네게 보내어졌느니라, 하더라. 그가 내게 이 말을 한 뒤에 내가 떨며 일어서니라. 11. And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling.
12. 그때에 그가 내게 이르되, 다니엘아, 두려워하지 말라. 네가 네 마음을 정하여 깨닫고자 하며 또 네 하나님 앞에서 네 자신을 징계하기로 한 첫날부터 그분께서 네 말들을 들으셨나니 내가 네 말들로 인하여 왔느니라. 12. Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.
13. 그러나 페르시아 왕국의 통치자가 이십일 일 동안 나를 막았으나, 보라, 우두머리 통치자들 중의 하나인 미가엘이 와서 나를 도와주었느니라. 내가 거기서 페르시아의 왕들과 함께 머물러 있었느니라. 13. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.
14. 이제 내가 너로 하여금 마지막 날들에 네 백성에게 일어날 일을 깨닫게 하려고 왔거니와 그 환상은 많은 날 뒤에 있을 일에 대한 것이니라, 하더라. 14. Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days.
15. 그가 그런 말들로 내게 이를 때에 내가 땅을 향하여 얼굴을 고정하고 말을 하지 못하였더니 15. And when he had spoken such words unto me, I set my face toward the ground, and I became dumb.
16. 보라, 사람들의 아들들과 비슷한 이가 내 입술을 어루만지니라. 이에 내가 입을 열어 내 앞에 서 있던 이에게 말하여 이르되, 오 내 주여, 그 환상으로 말미암아 내 슬픔이 내게 돌아왔으므로 아무 기력도 내게 남지 아니하였나이다. 16. And, behold, one like the similitude of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spake, and said unto him that stood before me, O my lord, by the vision my sorrows are turned upon me, and I have retained no strength.
17. 이 내 주의 종이 어찌 이 내 주와 말할 수 있으리이까? 나로 말하건대 즉시로 내 안에 기력도 남지 아니하고 내 안에 숨도 남지 아니하였나이다, 하니 17. For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me.
18. 그때에 사람의 모양을 한 이가 다시 와서 내게 손을 대며 나를 강건하게 하고 18. Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me,
19. 이르되, 오 크게 사랑받는 사람아, 두려워하지 말라. 네게 평강이 있을지어다. 마음을 강하게 하라. 참으로 마음을 강하게 하라, 하니라. 그가 내게 말하매 내가 강하게 되어 이르되, 주께서 나를 강하게 하셨사오니 내 주는 말씀하소서, 하매 19. And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me.
20. 그때에 그가 이르되, 내가 어찌하여 네게 왔는지 네가 아느냐? 내가 이제 돌아가서 페르시아의 통치자와 싸우려니와 내가 나아가면, 보라, 그리스의 통치자가 이르리로다. 20. Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come.
21. 그러나 내가 진리의 성경 기록에 적힌 것을 네게 보여 주리니 이 일들에서 나와 함께 버티는 자는 너희의 통치자 미가엘 외에 아무도 없느니라. 21. But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.
1. 또 내가 곧 내가 메대 사람 다리오의 제일년에 일어나 그를 굳건히 하고 강하게 하였나니 1. Also I in the first year of Darius the Mede, even I, stood to confirm and to strengthen him.
2. 이제 내가 진리를 네게 보여 주리라. 보라, 페르시아에서 여전히 세 왕이 일어나며 넷째는 그들 모두보다 훨씬 부요할 터인데 그가 자기 재물과 자기 힘으로 모든 사람을 선동하여 그리스의 영토를 치리라. 2. And now will I shew thee the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than they all: and by his strength through his riches he shall stir up all against the realm of Grecia.
3. 또한 강한 왕이 일어나서 큰 통치 권세를 가지고 다스리며 자기 뜻대로 행하리라. 3. And a mighty king shall stand up, that shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will.
4. 그가 일어날 때에 그의 왕국이 깨져서 하늘의 네 바람을 향하여 나뉠 터이나 그것이 그의 후손에게 돌아가지 아니하며 그가 다스리던 통치 권세대로 되지도 아니하리라. 그의 왕국은 뿌리째 뽑혀서 그들이 아닌 다른 사람들에게 돌아가리라. 4. And when he shall stand up, his kingdom shall be broken, and shall be divided toward the four winds of heaven; and not to his posterity, nor according to his dominion which he ruled: for his kingdom shall be plucked up, even for others beside those.
5. ¶ 남쪽 왕이 강하게 되고 그의 통치자들 중의 하나가 강하게 되리라. 그가 그보다 강하여 통치 권세를 가지리니 그의 통치 권세는 큰 통치 권세가 되리라. 5. ¶ And the king of the south shall be strong, and one of his princes; and he shall be strong above him, and have dominion; his dominion shall be a great dominion.
6. 여러 해 끝에 그들이 함께 연합하리니 남쪽 왕의 딸이 북쪽 왕에게 와서 협약을 맺으리라. 그러나 그녀가 팔의 권세를 유지하지 못하며 그나 그의 팔이나 서지 못하고 오히려 그녀와 그녀를 데려온 자들과 그녀를 낳은 자와 이때에 그녀를 강하게 한 자가 버림을 받으리라. 6. And in the end of years they shall join themselves together; for the king's daughter of the south shall come to the king of the north to make an agreement: but she shall not retain the power of the arm; neither shall he stand, nor his arm: but she shall be given up, and they that brought her, and he that begat her, and he that strengthened her in these times.
7. 그러나 그녀의 뿌리들에 속한 한 가지에서 나온 자가 그의 영토에서 일어나 군대를 거느리고 와서 북쪽 왕의 요새로 들어가 그들을 쳐서 이기고 7. But out of a branch of her roots shall one stand up in his estate, which shall come with an army, and shall enter into the fortress of the king of the north, and shall deal against them, and shall prevail:
8. 또 그들의 신들과 그들의 통치자들과 은과 금으로 만든 그들의 귀한 그릇들을 노획하여 이집트로 가져갈 것이요, 그가 북쪽 왕보다 몇 년을 더 지내리라. 8. And shall also carry captives into Egypt their gods, with their princes, and with their precious vessels of silver and of gold; and he shall continue more years than the king of the north.
9. 그리하여 남쪽 왕이 그의 왕국으로 들어갔다가 자기 땅으로 되돌아가리라. 9. So the king of the south shall come into his kingdom, and shall return into his own land.
10. 그러나 그의 아들들이 분발하여 큰 군대의 무리를 모을 것이요, 하나가 반드시 와서 흘러넘치며 지나가리라. 그때에 그가 되돌아와서 분발하여 그의 요새에까지 이를 것이요, 10. But his sons shall be stirred up, and shall assemble a multitude of great forces: and one shall certainly come, and overflow, and pass through: then shall he return, and be stirred up, even to his fortress.
11. 남쪽 왕은 성을 내며 흥분하여 앞으로 나아와서 그 곧 북쪽 왕과 싸우리라. 그가 큰 무리를 배치할 터이나 그 무리가 그의 손에 넘어가리라. 11. And the king of the south shall be moved with choler, and shall come forth and fight with him, even with the king of the north: and he shall set forth a great multitude; but the multitude shall be given into his hand.
12. 그가 그 무리를 제거한 뒤에 그의 마음이 높아져서 그가 수만 명을 넘어뜨릴 터이나 그것으로 말미암아 강하게 되지는 못하리니 12. And when he hath taken away the multitude, his heart shall be lifted up; and he shall cast down many ten thousands: but he shall not be strengthened by it.
13. 이는 북쪽 왕이 돌아와서 이전보다 더 큰 무리를 배치하고 몇 년 뒤에 반드시 큰 군대와 많은 재물을 가지고 올 것이기 때문이라. 13. For the king of the north shall return, and shall set forth a multitude greater than the former, and shall certainly come after certain years with a great army and with much riches.
14. 그때에 많은 사람이 일어나 남쪽 왕을 칠 것이요, 또 네 백성을 강탈한 자들이 자신들을 높여 그 환상을 확증하려 할 터이나 그들이 쓰러지리라. 14. And in those times there shall many stand up against the king of the south: also the robbers of thy people shall exalt themselves to establish the vision; but they shall fall.
15. 이처럼 북쪽 왕이 와서 작은 산을 만들고 가장 많이 성벽을 두른 도시들을 취하리니 남쪽의 군사들과 그가 택한 백성은 견디지 못하며 그들에게는 견딜 수 있는 어떤 기력도 없으리라. 15. So the king of the north shall come, and cast up a mount, and take the most fenced cities: and the arms of the south shall not withstand, neither his chosen people, neither shall there be any strength to withstand.
16. 그러나 그를 치려고 오는 자가 자기 뜻대로 행하리니 아무도 그 앞에 서지 못하리라. 또 그가 영화로운 땅에 서리니 그 땅이 그의 손으로 말미암아 소멸되리라. 16. But he that cometh against him shall do according to his own will, and none shall stand before him: and he shall stand in the glorious land, which by his hand shall be consumed.
17. 그가 또한 자기 얼굴을 세우고 자기의 온 왕국의 힘을 다하여 들어가며 그와 함께한 곧바른 자들도 들어가리라. 그가 이같이 행하리니 곧 여자들의 딸을 더럽게 하고 그에게 그녀를 주리라. 그러나 그녀가 그의 편에 서지 아니하고 그를 위하지도 아니하리라. 17. He shall also set his face to enter with the strength of his whole kingdom, and upright ones with him; thus shall he do: and he shall give him the daughter of women, corrupting her: but she shall not stand on his side, neither be for him.
18. 이 일 뒤에 그가 자기 얼굴을 돌이켜 섬들을 향하게 하고 많이 취할 터이나 한 통치자가 자기를 위하여 그가 주는 모욕을 그치게 할 것이요, 자기는 모욕을 받지 아니하고 그 모욕을 그에게 돌리리라. 18. After this shall he turn his face unto the isles, and shall take many: but a prince for his own behalf shall cause the reproach offered by him to cease; without his own reproach he shall cause it to turn upon him.
19. 그때에 그가 자기 얼굴을 돌이켜 자기 땅의 요새로 향할 터이나 걸려 넘어지고 쓰러져서 보이지 아니하리라. 19. Then he shall turn his face toward the fort of his own land: but he shall stumble and fall, and not be found.
20. 그때에 그 왕국의 영화 속에서 조세를 징수하는 자가 그의 영토에서 일어날 터이나 그는 몇 날이 못 되어 분노나 전쟁으로 말미암지 아니하고 멸망하리라. 20. Then shall stand up in his estate a raiser of taxes in the glory of the kingdom: but within few days he shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battle.
21. 또 그의 영토에서 한 비천한 사람이 일어날 터인데 그들이 그 왕국의 존귀를 그에게 주지 아니하리라. 그러나 그가 평화로이 들어와서 아첨하는 말로 그 왕국을 얻을 것이며 21. And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.
22. 홍수같이 밀려오는 군사들로 말미암아 그들이 그 앞에서 휩쓸려 파멸될 것이요, 참으로 그 언약의 통치자도 그러하리라. 22. And with the arms of a flood shall they be overflown from before him, and shall be broken; yea, also the prince of the covenant.
23. 그와 동맹을 맺은 뒤에 그가 속임수를 행하리니 이는 그가 올라와서 소수의 백성으로 강하게 될 것이기 때문이라. 23. And after the league made with him he shall work deceitfully: for he shall come up, and shall become strong with a small people.
24. 그가 평화로이 들어가서 그 지방의 가장 기름진 곳에 이르며 자기 조상들과 자기 조상들의 조상들이 행하지 아니한 일을 행하고 또 탈취물과 노략물과 재물을 그들 가운데 흩어 주며 참으로 자기의 계략을 미리 세우고 강한 요새들을 치되 한 때 동안 치리라. 24. He shall enter peaceably even upon the fattest places of the province; and he shall do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers' fathers; he shall scatter among them the prey, and spoil, and riches: yea, and he shall forecast his devices against the strong holds, even for a time.
25. 그가 자기의 권세와 용기를 불러 일으켜 큰 군대를 거느리고 남쪽 왕을 칠 것이요, 남쪽 왕도 분발하여 심히 크고 강한 군대를 거느리고 싸울 터이나 그가 서지 못하리니 이는 그들이 계략을 미리 세워 그를 칠 것이기 때문이라. 25. And he shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the south with a great army; and the king of the south shall be stirred up to battle with a very great and mighty army; but he shall not stand: for they shall forecast devices against him.
26. 참으로 그가 정해 준 양식을 먹는 자들이 그를 멸할 것이요, 그의 군대가 흘러넘쳐서 많은 사람이 죽임을 당하여 쓰러지리라. 26. Yea, they that feed of the portion of his meat shall destroy him, and his army shall overflow: and many shall fall down slain.
27. 이 두 왕이 여전히 마음속으로 해악을 행하려고 한 상에서 거짓말을 할 터이나 그 일이 형통하지 못하리니 이는 여전히 정해진 때에 그 끝이 있을 것이기 때문이라. 27. And both these kings' hearts shall be to do mischief, and they shall speak lies at one table; but it shall not prosper: for yet the end shall be at the time appointed.
28. 그때에 그가 많은 재물을 가지고 자기 땅으로 돌아가며 자기 마음속으로 거룩한 언약을 대적하고 공적을 세우며 자기 땅으로 돌아가리라. 28. Then shall he return into his land with great riches; and his heart shall be against the holy covenant; and he shall do exploits, and return to his own land.
29. 정해진 때에 그가 되돌아와서 남쪽을 향해 올 터이나 그 일이 그 이전 것이나 그 이후 것과 같지 아니하리라. 29. At the time appointed he shall return, and come toward the south; but it shall not be as the former, or as the latter.
30. ¶ 이는 깃딤의 배들이 와서 그를 칠 것이기 때문이라. 그러므로 그가 근심하며 돌아가서 격노하여 거룩한 언약을 대적하리라. 그가 이와 같이 행하며 심지어 돌아가서 그 거룩한 언약을 저버리는 자들에 대한 정보를 얻을 것이요, 30. ¶ For the ships of Chittim shall come against him: therefore he shall be grieved, and return, and have indignation against the holy covenant: so shall he do; he shall even return, and have intelligence with them that forsake the holy covenant.
31. 군사들은 그의 편에 서서 견고한 성소를 더럽히며 날마다 드리는 희생물을 제거하고 황폐하게 하는 가증한 것을 두리라. 31. And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.
32. 또 그가 그 언약을 대적하려고 사악하게 행하는 자들을 아첨하는 말로 부패시킬 터이나 자기 하나님을 아는 백성은 강하여 공적을 세우리라. 32. And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.
33. 백성 가운데서 깨닫는 자들이 많은 사람에게 교훈을 줄 터이나 그럼에도 그들이 여러 날 동안 칼과 불꽃과 포로로 사로잡힘과 노략으로 말미암아 쓰러지리라. 33. And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days.
34. 이제 그들이 쓰러질 때에 적은 도움으로 도움을 받을 터이나 많은 사람이 아첨하는 말로 그들에게 붙으리라. 34. Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries.
35. 또 명철한 자들 중의 몇이 쓰러져서 그들을 단련하며 정결하게 하고 희게 하되 끝이 임할 때까지 하리니 이는 그 일이 여전히 정해진 때에 관한 것이기 때문이라. 35. And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.
36. 그 왕이 자기 뜻대로 행하며 자기를 높이고 모든 신보다 자기를 크게 하며 놀라운 것들을 말하여 신들의 하나님을 대적하고 형통하되 그분의 격노가 이루어질 때까지 하리니 이는 작정된 그것이 이루어질 것이기 때문이라. 36. And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.
37. 그가 자기 조상들의 하나님과 여자들의 바라는 것을 중히 여기지 아니하며 어떤 신도 중히 여기지 아니하리니 그가 모든 것 위로 자기를 크게 하리라. 37. Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.
38. 오직 그는 자기 영토에서 힘의 [신]을 공경할 것이요, 금과 은과 보석과 기뻐하는 것들로 자기 조상들이 알지 못하던 신을 공경하리라. 38. But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.
39. 그가 가장 강한 요새들에서 한 이방 신과 더불어 이같이 행하며 그 신을 인정하고 그 신에게 영광을 더해 줄 것이요, 또 그들로 하여금 많은 사람을 다스리게 하고 이득을 얻기 위해 그 땅을 나누리라. 39. Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain.
40. 끝이 임하는 때에 남쪽 왕이 그를 향해 밀고 나올 터이나 북쪽 왕이 병거와 기병과 많은 배를 거느리고 회오리바람같이 와서 그를 치고 여러 나라에 들어가서 흘러넘치며 지나가리라. 40. And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.
41. 그가 또한 영화로운 땅으로 들어가며 많은 나라를 뒤엎을 터이나 이들 곧 에돔과 모압과 암몬 자손의 우두머리는 그의 손에서 피하리라. 41. He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.
42. 그가 또한 자기 손을 그 나라들 위로 펼치리니 이집트 땅이 피하지 못하며 42. He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.
43. 그가 금과 은의 보물과 이집트의 모든 귀한 것을 다스릴 권세를 가질 것이요, 리비아 사람들과 에티오피아 사람들도 그의 발밑에 있으리라. 43. But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.
44. 그러나 동쪽과 북쪽에서 나오는 소식이 그를 근심하게 하므로 그가 크게 격노하여 나아가서 많은 사람을 멸하며 완전히 없앨 것이요, 44. But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many.
45. 또 그가 자기 궁궐의 장막들을 바다들 사이의 영화롭고 거룩한 산에 세울 터이나 그의 끝이 이르겠고 아무도 그를 도와주지 아니하리라. 45. And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.
1. 그때에 네 백성의 자손들을 위하여 일어서는 큰 통치자 미가엘이 일어날 것이요, 또 고난의 때가 있으리니 그것은 민족이 있은 이래로 그때까지 결코 없었던 고난일 것이며 그때에 네 백성이 구출을 받되 책에서 발견된바 기록된 모든 자가 구출을 받으리라. 1. And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
2. 땅의 티끌 속에서 잠자는 자들 중의 많은 사람이 깨어나 얼마는 영존하는 생명에 이르고 얼마는 수치와 영존하는 치욕에 이르며 2. And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
3. 지혜로운 자들은 궁창의 광채같이 빛나고 많은 사람을 의로 돌아서게 하는 자들은 별들과 같이 영원무궁토록 빛나리라. 3. And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
4. 그러나, 오 다니엘아, 너는 끝이 임하는 때까지 그 말씀들을 닫아 두고 그 책을 봉인하라. 많은 사람이 이리저리 달음질하고 지식이 증가하리라. 4. But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
5. ¶ 그때에 나 다니엘이 보니, 보라, 다른 두 사람이 서 있는데 하나는 강둑의 이쪽에, 다른 하나는 강둑의 저쪽에 있더라. 5. ¶ Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on that side of the bank of the river.
6. 하나가 아마포 옷을 입고 강물 위에 있던 사람에게 이르되, 얼마나 있어야 이 이적들의 끝이 이르겠느냐? 하매 6. And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders?
7. 내가 들었는데 아마포 옷을 입고 강물 위에 있던 사람이 자기의 오른손과 왼손을 하늘을 향해 올리고 영원토록 사시는 이를 두고 맹세하여 이르되, 그것은 한 때와 두 때와 반 때에 관한 것이니 그가 거룩한 백성의 권세를 흩어 놓는 일을 이루게 될 때에 이 모든 일이 끝나리라 하더라. 7. And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.
8. 내가 듣고도 깨닫지 못하였으므로 그때에 이르되, 오 내 [주]여, 이 일들의 끝이 어떠하겠나이까? 하매 8. And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?
9. 그가 이르되, 다니엘아, 네 길로 가라. 주께서 끝이 임하는 때까지 그 말씀들을 닫아 두고 봉인하셨느니라. 9. And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
10. 많은 사람이 정결하게 되고 희게 되며 단련을 받을 터이나 사악한 자들은 사악하게 행하리니 사악한 자들 중에서는 아무도 깨닫지 못하되 지혜로운 자들은 깨달으리라. 10. Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.
11. 날마다 드리는 희생물을 제거하며 황폐하게 하는 가증한 것을 세우는 때로부터 천이백구십 일이 있으리라. 11. And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.
12. 기다려서 천삼백삼십오 일까지 이르는 자는 복이 있도다. 12. Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.
13. 그러나 너는 끝이 이를 때까지 네 길로 가라. 네가 안식하다가 그 날들의 끝에 네 몫으로 정한 곳에 서리라. 13. But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.
