1장

 

1. 다리오 왕의 제이년 유월 곧 그 달 첫째 날에 {주}의 말씀이 대언자 학개를 통하여 스알디엘의 아들 유다 총독 스룹바벨과 요세덱의 아들 대제사장 여호수아에게 임하니라. 이르시되, 1. In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying,

2. 만군의 {주}가 이같이 말하여 이르노라. 이 백성이 이르기를, 그때 곧 {주}의 집을 건축할 때가 이르지 아니하였다, 하는도다. 2. Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the LORD'S house should be built.

3. 그때에 {주}의 말씀이 대언자 학개를 통하여 임하니라. 이르시되, 3. Then came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying,

4. 오 너희여, 이 집이 피폐하거늘 지금이 너희가 널빤지로 꾸민 너희 집에 거할 때냐? 4. Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste?

5. 그러므로 이제 만군의 {주}가 이같이 말하노라. 너희 길들을 깊이 생각할지니라. 5. Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.

6. 너희가 많이 뿌렸을지라도 적게 거두며 먹을지라도 충분하지 아니하고 마실지라도 마신 것으로 만족하지 아니하며 입어도 따뜻하지 못하고 삯을 받는 자는 삯을 받아 구멍 난 자루에 넣느니라. 6. Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.

7. ¶ 만군의 {주}가 이같이 말하노라. 너희 길들을 깊이 생각할지니라. 7. ¶ Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.

8. 산에 올라가서 나무를 가져다가 그 집을 건축하라. 그리하면 내가 그것으로 말미암아 기쁨을 얻고 또 영광을 얻으리라. {주}가 말하노라. 8. Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD.

9. 너희가 많은 것을 바랐으되, 보라, 그것이 적게 되었고 너희가 그것을 집으로 가져갔으되 내가 그것 위에 바람을 불었느니라. 만군의 {주}가 말하노라. 무슨 까닭이냐? 내 집이 피폐한데도 너희가 저마다 달음질하여 자기 집으로 가기 때문이라. 9. Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.

10. 그러므로 너희 위의 하늘은 이슬 내기를 그치고 땅은 자기 열매 내기를 그쳤으며 10. Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from dew, and the earth is stayed from her fruit.

11. 내가 가뭄을 불러 그 땅과 산들과 곡식과 새 포도즙과 기름과 땅이 내는 것과 사람들과 가축과 손이 수고하는 모든 것 위에 임하게 하였느니라. 11. And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands.

12. ¶ 그때에 스알디엘의 아들 스룹바벨과 요세덱의 아들 대제사장 여호수아가 백성의 모든 남은 자들과 더불어 {주} 자기들의 하나님의 음성과 대언자 학개의 말들에 순종하여 {주} 자기들의 하나님이 그를 보내사 말씀하신 대로 하니라. 백성이 {주} 앞에서 두려워하였더라. 12. ¶ Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had sent him, and the people did fear before the LORD.

13. 그때에 {주}의 사자 학개가 {주}께서 전하시는 말씀으로 백성에게 말하여 이르되, 내가 너희와 함께하노라. {주}가 말하노라, 하니라. 13. Then spake Haggai the LORD'S messenger in the LORD'S message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith the LORD.

14. {주}께서 스알디엘의 아들 유다 총독 스룹바벨의 영과 요세덱의 아들 대제사장 여호수아의 영과 백성의 모든 남은 자들의 영을 움직이시매 그들이 와서 만군의 {주} 곧 자기들의 하나님의 집에서 일을 하였는데 14. And the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the LORD of hosts, their God,

15. 그때는 다리오 왕의 제이년 유월 이십사일이었더라. 15. In the four and twentieth day of the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.

 

 

2장

 

1. 칠월 곧 그 달 이십일일에 {주}의 말씀이 대언자 학개를 통하여 임하니라. 이르시되, 1. In the seventh month, in the one and twentieth day of the month, came the word of the LORD by the prophet Haggai, saying,

2. 이제 스알디엘의 아들 유다 총독 스룹바벨과 요세덱의 아들 대제사장 여호수아와 백성의 남은 자들에게 말하여 이르라. 2. Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and to the residue of the people, saying,

3. 너희 가운데 남아 있는 자로서 처음의 영광 중에 있던 이 집을 본 자가 누구냐? 이제 그것이 너희에게 어떻게 보이느냐? 그것과 비교하면 그것이 너희 눈에 보잘것없지 아니하냐? 3. Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory? and how do ye see it now? is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing?

4. {주}가 말하노라. 오 스룹바벨아, 그러할지라도 이제 마음을 강하게 할지어다. 오 요세덱의 아들 대제사장 여호수아야, 마음을 강하게 할지어다. {주}가 말하노라. 그 땅의 온 백성아, 너희는 마음을 강하게 하고 일할지어다. 내가 너희와 함께하느니라. 만군의 {주}가 말하노라. 4. Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the LORD; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the LORD, and work: for I am with you, saith the LORD of hosts:

5. 너희가 이집트에서 나올 때에 내가 너희와 맺은 언약의 말에 따라 그처럼 내 영이 너희 가운데 머물러 있나니 너희는 두려워하지 말지어다. 5. According to the word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt, so my spirit remaineth among you: fear ye not.

6. 만군의 {주}가 이같이 말하노라. 조금 있으면 내가 아직 한 번 더 하늘들과 땅과 바다와 육지를 흔들리라. 6. For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land;

7. 또 내가 모든 민족들을 흔들 터인즉 모든 민족들의 바라는 바가 이르리니 내가 이 집을 영광으로 채우리라. 만군의 {주}가 말하노라. 7. And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts.

8. 은도 내 것이요, 금도 내 것이라. 만군의 {주}가 말하노라. 8. The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts.

9. 나중에 지은 이 집의 영광이 이전 집의 영광보다 더 크리라. 만군의 {주}가 말하노라. 내가 이곳에서 화평을 주리라. 만군의 {주}가 말하노라. 9. The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts.

10. ¶ 다리오의 제이년 구월 이십사일에 {주}의 말씀이 대언자 학개를 통하여 임하니라. 이르시되, 10. ¶ In the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying,

11. 만군의 {주}가 이같이 말하노라. 이제 제사장들에게 율법에 관하여 물으며 이르기를, 11. Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Ask now the priests concerning the law, saying,

12. 사람이 거룩한 고기를 자기 옷자락에 담았는데 그의 옷자락이 만일 빵에나 국에나 포도즙에나 기름에나 어떤 음식물에 닿으면 그것이 거룩하겠느냐? 하라, 하니 제사장들이 대답하여 이르되, 아니라, 하니라. 12. If one bear holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt do touch bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any meat, shall it be holy? And the priests answered and said, No.

13. 이에 학개가 이르되, 시체로 말미암아 부정하게 된 자가 이것들 중의 하나를 만지면 그것이 부정하겠느냐? 하니 제사장들이 대답하여 이르되, 그것이 부정하리라, 하더라. 13. Then said Haggai, If one that is unclean by a dead body touch any of these, shall it be unclean? And the priests answered and said, It shall be unclean.

14. 이에 학개가 응답하여 이르되, {주}가 말하노라. 내 앞에서 이 백성이 그러하고 이 민족이 그러하며 그들이 손으로 하는 모든 일도 그러하고 그들이 거기서 드리는 것도 부정하니라. 14. Then answered Haggai, and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith the LORD; and so is every work of their hands; and that which they offer there is unclean.

15. 이제 너희에게 청하노니 이 날부터 거슬러 올라가고 {주}의 성전에 돌이 돌 위에 놓이기 전부터 거슬러 올라가 깊이 생각할지니라. 15. And now, I pray you, consider from this day and upward, from before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the LORD:

16. 그 날들 이후로는 사람이 이십 고르 곡식 더미에 이른즉 십 고르뿐이었고 포도즙 틀에서 쉰 그릇을 길으려고 포도즙 통에 이른즉 스무 그릇뿐이었느니라. 16. Since those days were, when one came to an heap of twenty measures, there were but ten: when one came to the pressfat for to draw out fifty vessels out of the press, there were but twenty.

17. {주}가 말하노라. 내가 너희를 치되 너희 손으로 수고한 모든 것을 마름병과 곰팡이와 우박으로 쳤느니라. 그런데도 너희가 내게로 돌아서지 아니하였느니라. 17. I smote you with blasting and with mildew and with hail in all the labours of your hands; yet ye turned not to me, saith the LORD.

18. 이제 이 날부터 거슬러 올라가 깊이 생각하되 구월 이십사일 곧 {주}의 성전의 기초를 놓던 날부터 거슬러 올라가 그것을 깊이 생각할지니라. 18. Consider now from this day and upward, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of the LORD'S temple was laid, consider it.

19. 씨가 아직도 곳간에 있느냐? 참으로 포도나무와 무화과나무와 석류나무와 올리브나무가 아직 열매를 맺지 못하였느니라. 이 날부터는 내가 너희에게 복을 주리라. 19. Is the seed yet in the barn? yea, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree, hath not brought forth: from this day will I bless you.

20. ¶ 그 달 이십사일에 {주}의 말씀이 다시 학개에게 임하니라. 이르시되, 20. ¶ And again the word of the LORD came unto Haggai in the four and twentieth day of the month, saying,

21. 유다 총독 스룹바벨에게 말하여 이르기를, 내가 하늘들과 땅을 흔들리라. 21. Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I will shake the heavens and the earth;

22. 또 내가 왕국들의 왕좌를 뒤엎으며 이교도 왕국들의 힘을 멸하고 병거들과 거기 탄 자들을 뒤엎으리니 말들과 거기 탄 자들이 저마다 자기 형제의 칼에 쓰러지리라. 22. And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.

23. 만군의 {주}가 말하노라. 오 스알디엘의 아들 내 종 스룹바벨아, {주}가 말하노라. 내가 너를 택하였으므로 그 날에 내가 너를 취하고 너를 인장으로 삼으리라. 만군의 {주}가 말하노라. 23. In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith the LORD, and will make thee as a signet: for I have chosen thee, saith the LORD of hosts.
